bebe - if the doc declares you fit to drive the dvla should be happy with that. Follow on milk contains extra iron (and other stuff depending on brand) but there is no need to change if you don't want to.

mummywannabe - I would give him a few days, then once he is eating properly during the day you could try giving him less in the night bottle, or just offer water. Most babies won't bother waking for water!

SK - hair looks good
Disney - look after yourself, that's an order.

Thanks for the sympathy for dh, he is still in bed, dosed up on painkillers. Has a lovely 3 inch row of stitches on his scrotum, like Frankenstein's bollocks!!

Well she slept in her cot all night last night not all the way through, woke at 11pm, tried to comfort her but she wasn't having any of it so she got a feed and put back in the cot, she woke again at 4am and I fed her and back in cot.

Isaidno - Frankensteins bollocks

No idea about follow on milk as mine went from boob to beaker of cows milk, i always thought it was a complete con to get round the advertising laws.

Thanks everyone for kind words re hair and the girls.

Must get Bethany weighed one of these days too (bad mum)

bebejones · 25/02/2009 16:27

P just been weighed and wee'd all over the HV's scales

She is just below her centile line and is 16lb 3oz (was convinced she was gonna be over) HV has said she needs more solids, she is reluctant but will persevere! She is screaming now so best go!

Isaidno · 25/02/2009 18:48

sk - I agree with you about follow on milk being a marketing con. Because it's for 6 mths plus they are allowed to advertise it and promote it, unlike the first milks.

Hi all. bebe, wrt the dvla, you have to tell them or your insurance will be invalid. having just looked at the dvla website and form you need to fill in for MS, I don't think you'll have a problem keeping your licence, but you need to tell them.

will try a link...here

all well with us, Ed is happy at nursery, I'm happy at work although feel very guilty about leaving him for 9hrs. at least it's only twice a week. I'm shattered from work, I'm busy and hardly have time to catch my breath! And then I have 2 days of housework and washing to catch up with when I get home.

love to all. Cass.

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 25/02/2009 20:42

Thanks for all your lovely messages about the job, but spookily as I was moaning on the phone to my mum about it a lady who I did a bit of work for last year text to see if I was free a the moment and has given me a new contract to work on, so wooooo hoooo Wolf has been kept from the door for a while yet!

I do telesales, was doing business to business selling coffee machines, and it was going well, but down turn in my markets (car garages and pubs) means no one is buying anything new. So now I've git a contract caling residential (which I swore I;d never do, selling/giving info about The Utility Warehouse, where people save money on Phone, Mobile, Gas, electric, internet etc. It's not brilliant, but beggers can't be choosers and I think I'll earn commision on anyone wanting any product.

Disney I hope you listen o your docs advice and take it easy.

Isaidno one word Ouch!

bebe I agreee with everyine, don't other with follow on milk, it's a con!

SK I said on FB, but your hair looks fab and your girls are lovely! (Doesn't B look like her dad?)

LL Sorry to hear about your nan. Was that the one who turned 100 last year?

Donut Glad to hear from you and glad your doing well (sorry couldn't remember your new name )

M2L Good luck tomorrow.

Sorry if I;ve forgotten anyone.

(phew that was going to be a short one!)

bebejones · 25/02/2009 21:23

Defo not going to give P follow on milk, I don't think she needs/wants it. Been told to up her solids & cut down on her milk a little to try and encourage her as she is reluctant with food to have more than 6 spoons of most things...except stewed apple & pear & fromgage frais (of which she devoured a whole tub for pudding this evening!! ) Just done tesco shop online (gotta love the internet) so will be cooking more scrumptious treats for her this next week! She quite likes the Annabel Karmel recipe for 'Chicken with Sweet Potato & Apple' it's one of the few savoury combos she will actually make a good stab at before deciding she has had enough!! With finger foods most of it just ends up smooshed and on the floor!! But hey that's part of the fun right?!

Kaz1967 · 25/02/2009 21:50

Sorry girls I am shattered Kez is waking in the night and feeding again (for last week) I have been shopping managed to put it way and have cooked my self a steak sandwich drunk couple glasses of wine and I cannot read a thing now think I will follow Kez to bed vert soon hope everyone is ok

TheRedSalamander · 25/02/2009 22:05

Hey everyone. Nice and busy in here!

Ah kaz I feel for you. It's pants isn't it - see my other thread moaning about sleep/feeding issues here

Sorry about your nan libra

Bebe I was thinking of you today as was shopping in gloucester with Louis! Kept wondering if every buggy I saw was you and P It was my bday yesterday and got some h&m vouchers from my sis, dh and I are going with friends to see The Killers on Saturday in Cardiff and I wanted to find something nice to wear. (Didn't manage to though, too fat and wobbly still. Really need to sort that out

But my bday was great, went to a lovely spa in Malvern for the whole day ON MY OWN it was bliss. Wafted about all day in a robe and slippers. Felt fab but then had a horrific night with Lou, up about 5 times before 3 and just so so tired today. Think I am running on empty again! Gah. So off to bed now. Night all.

sweetkitty · 25/02/2009 22:44

redsalamander - your spa day

bebejones - remember food is for fun until they are one, I think some babies just take a bit longer to get into solids, how is she on finger foods? Bethany sounds like P a bit, not so keen on savoury (she retches at mashed potato) but will gobble up yoghurt and fruit purees. She loves potato and leek puree and Lovely Lentils from AK books, anythign with sweet potato, carrots and lentils goes down well. She has also been eating Chickpea and Spinach surprise from MN recipes. Loves finger food as well, toast gets munched in minutes. Stuff what the HV says P looks very well.

Jodie - thats good news on the job front, hope something else comes along too. Thank you for you nice comments, some people see B like me, other like her Dad, I see DD2 very like her Dad as well. I think as they have my colouring people see them like me too.

cass - nice to hear from you as well

hello to everyone else too

Poledra · 25/02/2009 23:18

Evening all

The only thing that could tempt me onto Facebook would be the chance to see all the piccies you have on there. However, I am paranoid wary about using any of these networking sites as I am not convinced they are as secure as the owners like to think they are.

Libra sorry to heat about your nan.

Jodie good news on the job front - OK it;s not ideal but need must, and it'll keep you going till you find something better.

isaidno your poor DH! I hope he's being a nit more sensible this time, and looking after himself rather than sitting up late watching TV etc like before.

Well, Orlaith is doing well with the food now. She hasn't refused anything yet, though she wasn't too fond of courgettes. Garlic bread is still a big favourite! Oh, and apparently, I am Not Allowed to eat anything without giving her a taste too. So now I get presucked biscuits with my tea and she eats my yoghurt. Joy.

Am knackered - best get off to bed. Night all

PS SK, could Bethany speak to Orlaith about sleeping please? We have regressed back to waking 5-6 times a night

disneystar · 26/02/2009 10:19

hi red i was shopping in gloucester yesterday and my daughter was wondered if we passed each other ,well you never know

if your ever planning on coming to glos let me know and we can have a coffee and meet if you like, anyone else interested in this nearby?

samuel is still having a night feed am i just to soft or does he need this?
hes never ever gone throught the night yet not once since birth and its shattering now

weve just been and got samuel a jumperoo so we will see if he like it i have to wrap towels and pad him in everything to stop him falling over....lol but we have a new development
he can move...........................
he cant sit or keep his back straight at all,so what he does is lie flat on the floor wriggle his bum and is head at the same time push with his feet and he goes backwards, its so funny,
and so good he found a way to move which doesnt involve use of his back
its strange how babies compensate to loss of some things and find strenght in others

disneystar · 26/02/2009 10:22

oh and also we just got a good deal on a kia sedona so happy about that now ive got to advertise my previa its going cheap if anyone interested......lol

TheRedSalamander · 26/02/2009 13:20

disney yes I would def be up for a glos meet up! How about you bebe? And I'm sure someone else is within shouting distance, is it you Jodie?

SK I agree with Poledra, please get Bethany to get on the babyphone and give Louis instructions on how to settle/sleep better! Last night was a repeat of the one before, up numerous times really crying hard (even refusing boob, so def def def wasn't hungry for a change) until after 3 then slept until 6.10. I am fit to drop . I cried in the night at one point, properly sobbed- I just want to sleep. DH thinks we should just leave him to it but that goes against everything I feel he needs. We did a sort of controlled crying with ds1 very successfully, but Louis isn't a straightforward baby like he was and I just don't feel it's right for him. At a complete loss!

TheRedSalamander · 26/02/2009 13:22

plus sorry forgot to say well done samuel on getting moving!

Kaz1967 · 26/02/2009 13:43

Thanks Red it is a tempory thing I hope last night she woke at midnight and 6 rather than midnight, 2,4 and 6 but I am hanging still and she is tired to I was so tired at 8 this morning I stuck a boob in her mouth rather than getting up and giving her breakfast and we both fell back to sleep me until 9 her until half past so managed to get up and dressed and had to have her breakfast at the church coffee. She also nearly fell asleep in her lunch poor thing so is in bed snoring now. She is still feeding well both solids and breast during the day, she has not however leveled off on weight gain despite suddenly becoming very mobile

sweetkitty · 26/02/2009 14:25

Well after her reasonable night it was back to up 4 times at least last night (I lost count) in a way I am glad I am not the only one who has a non sleeping baby makes you realise it is not something you are doing IYSWIM?

I'm not feeling really great here TBH, I think I have come to terms with the fact I have PND, well I think it's PND it could be PND/SAD/stress/depression/anxiety who knows but I am not coping very well right now, feel like I am a terrible Mum who shouts too much and has no patience but then again I have 3 under 5, no help, a DP who might lose his job and don't get enough sleep. I am making an appointment to see the GP which is a big step for me.

kaz - I used to do that with DD1 just give her a boob and we both used to go for a sleep in the mornings, it was bliss, make the most of it.

poledra - B is the same you can see her checking out what I'm eating then she screams for a bit, she loves her food, everyone at toddlers today was commenting on her only being 7 months and sitting in a highchair chomping on toast

disney - glad you got the car sort and about Samuel moving too.

Right better get off here, am going to clear up lunch (I know lazy) tidy up, stick a DVD on for 1 and 2 and take 3 upstairs for a feed and a sleep.

TheRedSalamander · 26/02/2009 14:35

Glad you've decided to get to your GP sweetkitty. You've got a lot on, even just one of those things is a lot to contend with so don't feel like a terrible mum. xxx

pigleychez · 26/02/2009 14:54

Hi all,

Disney- Ohh Nice new car! Luck you!
and Yay for Samuel shuffling about!

Abigail has re-discovered her ability to roll and now rolls everywhere!! She shuffles about and is showing signs of wanting to crawl now. I think shes been sitting up for so long that she bored of the now and gone back to the rolling. Shes into everything and yesterday had one of my Ornaments of the fireplace... Think ill have to start moving things up high!

After abigails 5 hour stint the other night we were back to every 3 hours last night

Red- I too have had nights were ive had a little cry. Tiredness is a killer and it always seems worse in the middle of the night.

SK- Know what you mean about being glad you dont have the worlds only non sleeping baby! If does feel like that somedays!
You do have alot on your plate so its understandable that you may feel overwhelmed!

disneystar · 26/02/2009 16:30

awwww SK you are a great mum ive spoken to you via FB havnt i when our little rascals have been up way too long and we are just waiting for them to drop off,
plus you have the energies of the other 2 to deal with.
good for you to go see the gp a great start.
be kind to yourself hun were only human,
me,
in the morning i drop them off and the relief sometimes is like AHHHHH and i can actually feel the tension in my shoulders melting away,
great idea dvd and a nap bugger the housework its still gonna be there for tomorrow and tomorrows another day

pigleychez · 26/02/2009 17:18

Well talking of new hair do's.... I have given Abigail a new style...

Ive added some pics to my MN profile

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 26/02/2009 17:48

Just a quick lurk before bedtime, but had to comment Pigley how utterly munchable!!!!!

Poledra · 26/02/2009 17:53

OMG pigley, how much hair does Abigail have??? I thought Orlaith was doing well, but she's got nothing on Abigail.

sweetkitty · 26/02/2009 19:08

OMG pigley how long and beautiful is Abigail's hair, love the bunches.

My DDs were about 18 month before I could do that, poor Bethany has only started to get little tufts.

Isaidno · 26/02/2009 19:51

pigley - I am soo jealous. Tomorrow I am going to Claire's to buy some teeny tiny clips, because I think Poppy might just have enough hair to hold one.

SK - don't worry about feeling like a bad mum; I'm sure your girls think you're perfect x

Jodie - hoorah for new job!

poledra - dh is being very sensible; no booze (because of the strong painkillers) and no fags. He hasn't been staying up late because today was the 1st day he managed to get out of bed.
