disney - sorry to hear about your health worries, have a general google or ask in the health section someone on here has bound to have faced the same thing

Libra - what in specific do you want to talk about re Poo

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 20/02/2009 15:05

thanks sweetkitty, A is having 1-2 screaming fits in the day, arching back and inconsolable and we are trying to figure out the reason. He is pooing once or twice a day but it is quite solid poo and we were wondering if he was suffering from constipation. So, and i am really sorry about this question, what should 7 month old poo look like?

sweetkitty · 20/02/2009 15:08

Libra - IME 7 month old poo looks like what it went in as, for example, if they have had spinach the day before it's green and spinach looking. When DD2 was constipated she didn't poo at all, B does 2-3 poos a day sometimes more. Are you sure his screaming is related to poo? Babies tend to cry at the drop of a hat if they are bored, tired, scared or just fancy a cry

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 20/02/2009 15:15

Sweetkitty, I agree about the crying but this is inconsolable screaming along with arching the back and going rigid, if it was bored, tired, scared crying then usually he would be easily distracted from the crying IYSWIM. His poo is quite solid and very dark. can't think of what else it could be. thanks for the poo description tho

pigleychez · 20/02/2009 16:08

Hi all,

Mummywannabe- Sorry to hear Max is still poorly..its so hard when they are ill

Bebe- Abigail just laughs at me when I try to get her to say Mumma!

Red- Thanks for asking about the house. The poor postman has been delivering us paperwork in bundles! We have signed our contracts ow and are just waiting for the others to sign thiers then we can complete and exchange. All going really smoothly thank god! Hope to be moving end of March/ beg of Feb.
re selling- We were really lucky actually. We were on the market a total of 3 weeks and had 2 seperate offers! But my friends have only just sold after about 6mths on the market.
Hope someone offers on yours soon... Have you had many viewings?

Isaidno- Can Poppy talk to Abigail about sleeping please! we are still up 2 or 3 times a night!

All you runners out there put me to shame! Im sooooo unfit!!!

Rumpel- the night away sounds fab!

Libra- Abigails poos are alittle solid and sometimes she really pushes to get them out going red in the face. Other times they are rather wet and when pooing sounds like a big wet fart!
you could try giving him some water during the day to help soften things up which might helps if thats whats upsetting him. HV also told me about adding a few drops of pure orange juice to some cooled boiled water to help wuith contsipation.

Had a dream last night that I gave birth to baby boy called Elliot. It was very realistic! Spookily so! Bought back all the memories of Abigail birth( 27 hour labour, induction, hormone drip, theatre, shoulder dystocia ect) and its filled me with dread about giving birth again. I know it sounds odd but bringing it all back has kinda spooked me abit.
Its kinda been discussed about TTC number 2 towards the end of the year and now im freaked out by the idea and worried that it will all happen again. I know it sounds odd but I cant seem to shake this now and its really occupying my thoughts.

Poledra · 20/02/2009 18:35

Pigley I was pretty scared about giving birth to DD2 (DD1 was a 14 hour labour, then an em c-s under general anaesthetic). However, I went back to my hospital when DD1 was less than 6 months old and had a review of my notes with an independent mw (independent in that she was not involved in my care in any way). It was very helpful in laying to rest my ghosts and allwoing me to move on. I actually went twice, as I was so upset the first time, we had to stop when we were only half-way through the notes . Would this sort of thing be helpful to you, and could you ask at your hosp? We also discussed the likelihood of it happening to me again and so on. DD2 was a much better birth (though the appendectomy when I was 31 weeks pregnant was pretty scary ).

Libra 7 mo poo should (IME)be pretty soft - DH likens it to (sorry if TMI) wedges of orange, as the poo is soft enough to be moulded by the baby's bottom into that shape. Sometimes its even too soft for that. DD1 has suffered with chronic constipation and is still on medication for it, and she used to do hard formed poos from the start of weaning.

Disney sorry about your ill-health, I don't know anything about MS, so I can't help with the lab results. Hope you and Sam are doing well today.

Had a crap day yesterday - DH took the day off (half-term, only day he could do) and we planned to go out for lunch then take the DDs somewhere nice. Well, we came back home straight after lunch as the DDs have behaved so appallingly we refused them any other treat (not Orlaith, obv!). Then what does DH do? Sits down and answers work e-mails as he's really busy at work so needs to get on . I did make a sarcastic remark about only taking a half-day's holiday as that was all we saw of him but it went over his head. I was so looking forward to it, but that's always the way - things you're looking forward to don't fulfil their promise. Today , which had nothing special planned, turned into a nice day. DDs went out to play and I had 2 hours peace this afternoon (during which I ironed and fed Orlaith) but it was nice to have some peace and hopefully they'll sleep well tonight.

Best get back to making dinner.

Isaidno · 20/02/2009 19:18

libra - Poppy def doesn't like doing a poo. She cries and screams when it comes out. She goes about every other day, but not all at once. She does an inch at a time, then a big one to get the last out!
As you know we are blw and for about 3 weeks now the poo has become a firm sausage (varying colour - usually orangey due to alot of sweet potato!) It is soft and easy to squash, but not very wet. I don't think she is constipated but I am trying to encourage more water and fruit. The ds had much softer poo, but puree contains much more water than finger foods. The blw book says there is no need for drinks other than breastmilk, and I would say Poppy only has a few sips of water.
A could be constipated if he is not a big drinker. BM is naturally laxative.

Now you know more about my baby's poo than her daddy does!!

bebejones · 20/02/2009 19:44

Disney, so sorry you are not well, sending big hugs. I have MS but only very very recently diagnosed & I am afraid I am no help whatsoever. Have you tried net doctor? Tried to donate but it has that secure card thing & that never works for me (always use DH's on tesco website!!) Will have to try again with different card!

Re poo, P's depend on what she eats, carrots go straight through her & look like carrot lumps but when she is constipated she does the screaming arching her back thing, we usually give her a big drink of water, cooled boiled water but not cold, sort of body temp.

Pigley, very weird I have been having odd baby/birthing dreams last couple of nights. Had one night before last where I had triplets & kept them in a cardboard box in the airing cupboard!!! Spending too much time with the cats me thinks!! Me & DH had also been discussing TTC number 2 but thought we would wait til next spring so as to avoid birthdays being too close together!

Just found out that SIL is being induced on 2nd March...so excited! Must go call her!!!

disneystar · 20/02/2009 21:17

we all know our babies cries dont we and samuel has a tired one and happy sounds but last week my dh was cuddling him and he screamed ,he panicked and said whats wrong with him

i said oh thats his poo cry check his nappy
thing is he always makes the same sound just as it comes out regardless of whether its soft or hard he just doesnt like it.

he can get a bit constipated so he always has a whole weetabix for breakfast and usually a whole beaker or water throughout the day to solve this

samuels is sausage shaped (il never eat them again now)squashy and quite soft
isaidno samuel sounds like your LO just doesnt like the feel of it coming out

libra if your worried have a check up with the gp or is the crying and arching before a poo or if not been for a day or 2,try to see or make alink when its happening to get a better picture

Kaz1967 · 21/02/2009 00:25

disneystar Mum has had MS for over 40 years (slow progresing form) have never heard of blood related problems though, it maybe something not related or the fact you are not drinking enough. If it needs treating it may mean taking something like warfrin to tin your blood and having regular blood tests to keep a check on the dose

disneystar · 21/02/2009 08:23

kaz very right as apparantly my blood is very thick and there is more chance of it clotting then, but they have said having high viscosity can be linked to a degenarative problem.ive always had a heart murmer i guess i was a bit worried its related to that tbh.

minipinkscottish · 21/02/2009 11:17

Hi All

So busy now that I#m back at work and finding it hard to keep up with mn Haven't had time to read all posts but sending love and hugs to all

Took Abbie to get crawling shoes from Clarks the other day and when she was measured it turned out she was too little for even their smallest pair - still quite a bit under size 2 BLESS! She is over 8 months now and only 16 lbs 7oz She has a fantastic appetite and is perfectly proportioned - just a wee honey!!!!!

sweetkitty · 21/02/2009 18:51

Well I went and got my hair chopped off this afternoon love it, it was quite long and is not a short bob, will take some getting used to though.

minipink - aww I had a little Abbie too, Bethany is wearing a dress now that Abbie had on on her first birthday, I don't usually bother with the Clarks crawlers, I just have a pair of Next soft shoes until they are proper walking.

Loving all this poo talk

pigley - if I ever had a little boy he was going to be called Elliot. I was still scared having number 3, labour isn't the most pleasant thing lets be honest but the first is always the hardest. Second time around it should get easier for you. Great news about the house move too

poledra - hope today has been better for you

Where is mum2leah? hope she is OK she was having her scan soon wasn't she

and Mcchesers she is moving back to the US soon too?

Mummywannabe · 21/02/2009 20:28

Hi all.

Sweetkitty - glad you like the hair, post some pictures.

Must do something with my hair, where alot (huge amounts) fell out, i have lots of baby hair growth that is all fluffy. Look horrible today, so much so i said to DH tonight, sorry i look like such a hag today, to which he replied 'well you have been busy', em wrong answer you should have said 'no darling you look lovely'

Re:poo - Ds still has kharki green poo, sometimes firm but mostly loose (but on C & G comfort milk and it does this)

Ds has slept through for 3 nights , having said that he lost his voice where he has been poorly so might have woken but i wouldn't have heard him , so been doing controlled crying without the heartache . Before i sound like a horrible mum did spend 2 nights on his bedroom floor to check on him but needed my bed after that!

He is a bit better, had milk and food today although coughed 2 ounces into his bedtime bottle and then got the grumps and screamed the house down and refused any more!

sweetkitty · 21/02/2009 21:47

Mummywannabee - I feel the exact same, I always look so pale and grey, I had to do something about my hair loads had fallen out and it was so lank, now I just have to sort out the roots and get rid of my spots, promise I will put a pic on FB soon

TJuice · 21/02/2009 22:47

god i am really spotty too - don't know what is going on. am getting dh to prescribe me something as soon as i have stopped bf (which is pretty close, I think - only doing one feed a day now).

but my hair has grown out now. got it cut during the massive shedding about 5 months ago into a kind of bob, which has made it look much thicker as its grown out. just need a recolour when i get back to the uk next week.
can't wait! i am going to london fashion weekend! going to chill at my parents. they can't wait to see the little 'un. put some pics on my flickr today and they were just going crazy.

check them out here flickr.com/photos/juicifer/

disney - don't know much about viscosity as a symptom of something else but hope you get some answers soon.

disneystar · 22/02/2009 09:34

mcchesers has gone shes been there a few days now had a good flight and arrived safe and sound, albeit very tired.....

having a lazy day here still in my pj,s and dh is....and samuel boys are dressed though

dh managed to put up a flat screen tv on my dining wall yesterday dont know if you remember but when he put one up in my bedroom he hit a water mains major flooding to a new build house.....

we have colonial decking outside and dh is extending this today another 4ft which is good as we will have shade also and somewhere for samuel to be on a rug outside in the shade
also dc,s cannot get out into my greenhouse and veg area,

samuels having some real tantrum behaviour lately if you take something away (tv remote ) he goes nuts screaming and tense and will not be bribed with another toy,i think i have a battle of will with him in a few years.....

Kaz1967 · 22/02/2009 14:15

disneystar Kez and I are both still in PJ's going to have a shower and dressed to go to evensong later

Kaz1967 · 22/02/2009 14:17

Oh and Kez also has temper tantrums and there is nothing you can do but hold her and wait till she calms down

DoThisDoThat · 22/02/2009 17:22

Hi all. Not posted for ages. Name changed. This is donutmum here.

Good to see all doing well. Kaz, that video is so "bless". Logan doing fab. Can sit and nearly crawling. Great temper tantrums from him, including some breath holding . Takes 10 minutes to change his nappy. Other than that, he is an immensely happy, cheerful soul, loves to chat and cuddle.

Bahrain going great. Had some domestic traumas that I won't bore you with but part of reason for not posting. Getting lots done, including cake bakes for school, joining choirs, losing weight (yay!). Mum here this week for half term. Thank God or I would be demented.

Hope to see mum2leah news soon and much sympathy to everyone with hair trauma. It's bloody awful!

Pigley, do you like the name Elliot. That was one weird dream.

Right, better go serve dinner and watch my Grey's Anatomy DVD. ttfn.

MinnieMummy · 22/02/2009 20:17

Right, this is what P is up to!

Poo - soft, bum-shaped and the same colour as the food here too, P does quite often really grumble about pushing them out - there's no doubt when she is trying to get one out, her whole head goes bright red. Frankly much easier to clean up than her older brother's icky sticky ones

Perhaps related, not much water being drunk here - few sips and then dribbled down the chin here too.

Some success in the sleep department - she went 11pm til 7.30 am the other night, but now she has a cold and last night was 3am (didn't need a feed but needed to lie next to me) and then 5am. I suppose I am trying a version of the 'core hours' theory in that I won't feed her before 5am because I know she can go that long. Otherwise I am pretty much on the same feeding schedule as Isaidno and I'm already fretting about when I go back to work and expressing enough! (not for a couple of months).

pigley - not surprising at all about having trepidations about second birth, I was crying about DS's birth over a year afterwards (forceps!) but Poppy's birth was completely different and so much better. Maybe consider a doula/home birth for number two?? Also Eliot was on my fantasy short-list before I married DH but we couldn't have it as it wouldn't go with our surname. Same for Evie which was a fave girls' name.

Bebe much separation anxiety here, I know that's what it is but I'm finding it really annoying, feels like I can't leave the room for a second as she goes from 0 to 60 immediately!

General developmental stuff - chatter - 'Bub-bub-bub' seems to be favourite here at the moment. No teeth, some sitting (just for a few seconds), some carpet humping (love that phrase), picking up of finger foods improving daily. P is on the 50th percentile for weight and height which surprised me as I thought she was a bit of a porker!

Disney following on from that, Sam is developing like all the babies, just at his own pace. You've said before that he has proved the doctors wrong about what he can do several times already, and I'm sure he'll keep doing that.
Hope you get a straight answer from the doctor soon.

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 22/02/2009 20:25

Hi, no chance to catch up really, just wanted to pop by and say hello. had a good weekend child wise, been angels and we've been doing lots of activities, but crap personally, I lost my only contract on Saturday, due to the 'Credit crunch' so I;m now officially un-employed.... Will have to talk to nursery tomorrow about taking them out, (although March has been paid for already) It's such a shame as DS1 really enjoys it there and loves the girls, maybe I'll see if I can afford 1 session for him. I;m so cross! So can you all send me good luck vibes to getting a new job in a month please!

bebejones · 22/02/2009 21:03

Elliot was a fave name for me 2, but DH ruled it out coz of ET & he kept doing the stupid ET voice saying it... I still LOVE the name but will never get to use it!!!

Had a random waking screaming moment again from P last night, but only took 10mins to get her back to sleep, don't know what woke her...bad dream? (Do babies dream? Wonder what about?? Boobs & food, bit like men really!) I am sat on PC waiting for her to drop off to sleep, got tired of going up & down all the time so now just sit next door & wait, then I can sneak in & whip the comforter away, last couple of nights she has had it right across her face! Currently she is chatting & bouncing her legs up & down!!

JODIE, horrid about ur job, got my fingers crossed for you! I'm going self-employed in April so that I can work from home & stay with P, really nervous about it! Somehow doesn't feel 'safe' but DH assures me it will be fine!

SK very jealous of the haircut, I am in desperate need of some hair TLC, have promised myself a cut & colour before P's christening next month so as not to look too hideous in the pictures...unfortunately I can't shed the 4 stone I want to lose in the same way!!!

Think my angel is asleep now so am off for a glass of wine before bed!!

disneystar · 23/02/2009 09:23

jodie sorry about your job, hope things get better and you find something soon
makes it worse when our dc are somewhere they love and they have to leave doesnt it.

bebe men dream of boobs and food i had to laugh as i think its true (little things please little minds)

ahhhh boys at school today dh still home cos of his arm going to gp today to see how things are,but i can type and drink my tea in peace
i love the dc so much and having them near me but its nice to have some quiet time too

Mummywannabe · 23/02/2009 09:36

Jodie thats rubbish about your job.

DS has great temper tanrums too, goes purple and will not be held or comforted. Silly boy!

He woke at 3am screaming hungry so guess he is on the mend, i however feel awful. Typical.

2 weeks and counting till i go back to work. . Supposed to be doing DS settling sessions this week but put them off till next week as they have chicken pox and he is still not 100%. Know he will get it but want him to get over one thing before he gets another. My mum can have him on wed for a few weeks if he takes a long time to settle. Its very odd being on the other side of the fence, so used to reassuring parents that their babies will be fine, not so easy when its you!
