TJuice Kez has control of the beaker, sometimes she drinks the lot sometimes she only has a few sips, I would say let your LO do it her self if she is growing well and it is not totally stopping her eating then it is not a problem

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 19/02/2009 08:14

Ahhh Disney I forgot again, right, I;m off to do it now.

Catch up later, feel rough. (self inflicted I'm afraid )

Isaidno · 19/02/2009 15:57

just got back from clinic and Poppy is 16 lb 8 oz - she's just about 8 mths and now on about the 20th centile. She was on the 9th before we started the blw, so it is obviously working! Her fave food is whatever I am trying to put in my mouth. been trying to get her to drink water and she will only have it from an open cup, so you can imagine how messy that is.

Who thought I was still bfing alot? Anyway this week she has dropped lots of feeds, so now I bf at roughly 7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, and bedtime. And at least once in the night, but I'm working on that! After sleeping through for a week we have had 2 weeks of waking up 2 or 3 times. Last night was 1am and 6am which I can live with for a while longer.

This week she has also dramatically improved with the sitting, and is very good now, correcting her balance and saving herself. She rolled over at the weekend, but this appears to have been a solo event.

Poppy is very vocal, seems she'll be chatting soon. DS1 didn't speak until he was 2 and a half, DS2 spoke before 12 months.

Oh, I am feeling sad that my little baby is getting so big and clever but she is still gorgeous!

Trespass - nice to hear from you
Poledra - I know exactly how you feel about alone time. I really miss it. I am never alone, except for brief periods in bed, or on the toilet if I remember to lock the door.

Gotta go, promised ds2 I would play with his wrestling figures.

So much to catch up on I have been reading but hardly getting time to post. First news here, I think we have teeth 3 and 4 imminent, gums look white and she has been so crabby at night, night before last she was up 6 times, I was shattered the next day. She has mastered sitting up and is a whizz in her babywalker, wants to "get" everything, she ran over DD2's fingers this morning. Speaking of this morning had a terrible day, was driving to nursery and saw this white thing in the road, as I got closer it was a cat kicking so got out and it died in front of me then the owner came out and was screaming and she is the Mum of one of DD1's nursery friends and I know her well, her DC are in the car watching as are mine so I had to wrap the cat up in a towel and take it in the house for her, cue loads of questions from DDs. MIL and her friend are just away from visiting as well, they were at how big Bethany is getting,

I am like you isaidno they are getting too big too fast. Bethany has nearly the same amount of feeds as Poppy well a few more at night I reckon B will be chatting soon too, DD2 was much quicker than DD1 too and I think B will want to join in too, she doesn't like to be left out already.

Tjuice - Bethany probably has half a beaker of water a day, I give her a drink after her meals, I don't think it would upset her too much unless it was a pint odds and it means she wasn't taking food. My DD1 was always a thirsty little thing, still is, also means she wees a lot too. DD2 adores garlic bread too, much to my Mums horror when she was sitting munching on a big piece at 8 months old, my Mum is off the puree everything until well over a year or they will choke to death brigrade.

pigley - my Abigail has always been on the 9th centile, she's just a skinny thing in fact B is wearing a dress today her sister wore on her first birthday. If one child is on the 50th centile that means there has got to be 49 below and 50 above if that makes sense. Some childre are just meant to be wee.

Kaz - Kezzy is so cute and such a strong clever girl

Rumpel - I am so with you on never get time on your own, I am also feeling so run down right now, think lack of sleep is a big thing plus I get so stressed as there never seems to be enough hours in the day, I have all these things I want to get done but never get around to them, I think my house is permantley dirty. I am currently taking multivits and calcium tablets, I also give the DDs some when they have the cold (child multivits not mine)

Trespass - hello nice to hear from you, I wonder why walkers are discouraged before 8 months? I think the opposite way in that they are great for little ones but once they start to crawl and hold onto things and cruise I take them away. I read that if they are in them for long periods of time it can shorten their tendons on their feet so they are only using their tiptoes to push themselves along so once out of them they don't know how to put their weight on their feet and walk IYSWIM? In saying that they are very good as it gives Bethany some protection from the other two racing about the floor.

Bethany not crawling yet but is moving by shuffling, today found her chewing her Grans bag.

Mummywannabe · 19/02/2009 17:56

Quick post again - little man very poorly . Managing about 5 ounces of milk, bit of water and few mouthful of fruit a day for over a week. Took him to A&E last night, virus still!

Kez - such a cute video. Will show my DS and ell hm to get moving, but only when he is better

Rumpel - finish foundation degree in June. Then last part starts in feb and ends in oct.

bebejones · 19/02/2009 19:14

I have had a horrid horrid day! Feeling so low & exhausted. Got up at 7, cleaned up copious amounts of cat puke. Got P up at 8, went to wash up bottles after feed & she screamed so I went running in to see what was wrong...separation anxiety & was fine as soon as she saw me. I sat down while she calmed down. Remembered I had left the tap on, & plug in & found that I had flooded the kitchen, it was running into the dining room! Was the hot tap so scalding hot water which I had to put my hand in to pull plug out! After I had used 10 towels to mop up water (drawer under drainer was 1/2 inch deep in water, and is our 'junk drawer' so had bateries, matches, cat medicine etc in, all ruined) P then needed feeding. After that it was her before lunch nap time...not today, she screamed for 2 hours non stop, a hysterical bubbling snotty mess, ended up giving her a bottle to calm her down. Have had so much cooking to do aswell as had chicken that needed using (P had some for dinner, her first meat & she seemed to like it, fantastic AK recipe) I cut my thumb whilst chopping an apple & grazed my knuckle on kitchen cupboard, I just feel knackered. Now it's bathtime for P & I am trying to work up the energy to go do it. Plus for some reason (prob coz of how pants today has been) the fact that she only says daddy is really getting to me, I know it isn't a personal slur but still feel a little hurt!

Just read it back & day doesn't seem that bad when I read it back, just seemed like one thing after another.

bebejones · 19/02/2009 19:16

Oh & now I just pissed off DH by saying that I just want 5 mins on my own...typical!

Isaidno · 19/02/2009 19:20

bebe - she's not saying daddy; she's just making da da noises. Poppy mostly says aaaah all day, with various levels of volume and different tones to indicate happiness, frustration, etc etc.

OP posts:
Mummywannabe · 19/02/2009 19:53

bebejones - sounds pretty rubbish to me! Dada is an easier sound to make than mama. And we spend more time saying when's dada home etc than they do saying mama about us!

Max had 3 ounces of milk tonight! Yeah - never thought i'd celebrate that!

sweetkitty · 19/02/2009 20:18

oh bebejones you can join me in the I've had a crap day club, I have to clean cat puke up most mornings, drives me insane. I have done the drawer thing too very recently except I was cleaning the cat litter tray so had turned on teh hot tap filled it with bleach and it overflowed so dirty water all down the drawers etc had to put everything in dishwasher to sterilise. I agree with everyone else it's not daddy she is saying it's dadadada and it will be at everything a wall, a cat, a car, etc. Bethany says Eddie at everything, 4am in the morning she is shouting Eddie at the top of her voice, DP says if he ever finds this Eddie he is for it tomorrow will be a better day thats for sure x

Mummywannabee - good news on the milk front, hope your little man is on the mend soon, damn viruses

Disney - glad you had a good day out, that pass sounds fab, great if you are within driving distance of all those attractions. On the gunky eye front he needs choloramphenicol eye drops, they are fab clear gunky eyes right up, GP can prescribe

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 20/02/2009 07:06

Morning all.

I've had a busy few days, on Weds we had friends over for dinner, She has recently moved to the village and has 2 boys the same age as me and we've had a few 'playdates' and seem to get on, She was saying her DP didn't know anyone in the village, so they came round and my DH and her DP giggled like school boys all night while we chatted about stuff (but not children! ) and they didn't end up going home until 1.30! Then yeasterday I went to see my cousin (who's 10) in her dance show and it was amazing, the little ones were so good and the older ones did all this street dancing and street tap and ballet, it was really good. I love all stuff like that.

Disney That pass sounds ace, when the boys are older we were thinking of someting like that, they do one round here that includes Twycross Zoo, Conkers, Space centre in Leicester and a couple of others.
Mummywannabe Sorry to hear that Max is so unwell, it's worrying when they don't eat isn't it. Sending get well vibes to you xx

Bebe I hope today is better, I agree with everyine that P isn't saying daddy, she just making a noise. Saying that though I used to repeat mamamamama over and over again to DS1 and his first 'word' was Dada. Little swine! Also I think they hear daddy more often than mummy, I was always saying things like 'daddy will be home soon' 'what will daddy like for dinner do you think?' Go to daddy' etc etc and I don't think I really refered to myself in thrid person IYKWIM.

Trespass good to hear from you, and glad you are well. Not sure about walkrs as we've never had one (don't have the room) But Sam loves the one at nursery!

Rumpel How's the diet going? I'm doing OK, back into the swing of thngs after the blip at christmas that continued into Jan!! I've now lost 11.5lbs, and started jogging, in training for Race For Life..

TheRedSalamander · 20/02/2009 08:35

Bebe I would DEF class that as a bad day! Maybe all our biorhythyms are in sync as I've had a pants few days/nights too! Darling Louis (gritted teeth emoticon) has startingly regular bowel movements and wakes up for a nice relaxing poo at about 4am each day. I'm awake then too listening to him as he chats to himself/squeaks/shouts generally makes lots of noise culminating in the said poo at 5, at which point I go and change him and that's it he's up for the day then. Or has been for the last week or so. I am bushed, cried this morning when getting boys breakfasts ready as was so tired, I'm still up in the night 2 or three times for him too and feeling a bit down trodden because of these early starts on top of it all.

I find my patience with ds1 just disappears when I'm tired, it's not fair on him at all but my blinkers seem to get stuck on and I can't shake my grey mood. But this morning have tried so hard not to be a grump, we're off to Goodrich Castle with my sil and her two girls as it's half term so am trying to get a picnic prepared etc!

Rumpel- is Calvin more settled now? Remember that he and Louis were very similar in their day time shenanigans- L is a sunshine baby by day now just a little bugger at night

Lol sk at B saying Eddie ! DS1 used to say "Ardle" or "Unga" whereas L just does a high pitched shrieky shouty screamy yell much like a velociraptor in Jurassic Park...

Jodie your night with new friends sounds great- it's always nice when you meet someone you think could be a good pal. And I bet they really appreciate it too.

My "spare" (ha!) waking moments are filled with thinking about the house we're trying to buy- Pigley how is your house sale progressing? We have found the house of our dreams, just need to sell this one before we can proceed! How long did it take to sell yours?

Right then off to sort this picnic...

disneystar · 20/02/2009 08:52

jodie i saw your post on fb about your training for race for life
thanks guys for being supportive
jodie when are you running? the 5k or 10k

my treadmill arrives this week as i dont always have the time to go out as it were.

SK thanks for the tip on sams eyes il get onto that this morning

samuel doesnt say da da yet hes only ever said sound like ma ma BUT thats when he crying so he isnt saying it just a sound he makes when upset

he also growls like a bear and the highest shreik like something outta jurassic park also

Isaidno · 20/02/2009 08:57

Hoorah! Poppy slept 7 - 7 last night!! My boobies were bursting all night. She did wake up at 1am and I let her cry (nasty mummy) for 5 minutes. I was just about to go into her room to get her when she suddenly stopped. I think the past couple of weeks I have been too soft, making excuses and letting her get into a night feeding habit.

minkus - day out sounds lovely; hope the weather is fine for the picnic.

OP posts:
bebejones · 20/02/2009 10:17

P does the velocoraptor (sp) thing too, and then looks dead chuffed with herself. I know it is just ramblings, but she if you say a word & show her stuff she does say dada, just the two sylabbles (sp??) and she does look at DH when he gets home & says it. We get either ka or tata at the cat whenever he is around. Am trying to make the noises into words for her when she says them, and she gets so excited that I am playing her game & so will whichever sound it is over & over back at me then usually blows loads of rasberries or does her dinosaur impression!

Disney - where do I go to sponsor you?

Is anyone else still losing hair? Mine is coming out in handfulls, I am sure I have bald patches. Docs just keep saying it's normal, but my hairbrush looks horrendus after I have brushed my hair. I could go into wig production!! My hair is everwhere, I lose count how many times a day I have to unravel hairs off P's fingers! This cannot be normal surely?

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 20/02/2009 10:49

Morning, I missed my Wednesday catch up post as A got conjuntivitus so couldn't go to nursery which of course meant i couldn't go to work! However all well again today and we are both in our proper places on a Friday (nursery and work!) sleep has been a mixed bag after doing controlled crying at the weekend he slept right thru Sunday,Monday, Tuesday but Wednesday night was a nightmare he woke up at 2:30am and didn't go back to sleep until 4:15am, alternating screaming with just chuntering to himself, I stuck with just going back in every 5 minutes. Last night he did wake twice but both times he went back to sleep after 1 visit.

Jodie/Disneystar - I am doing coach potato to 5K over in the sports&exercise forum come and join me or are you already good enough for the runners thread!

isaidno - yay for the night thru. I was the same and feeding him whenever he woke in the night but then I realised he was having 5 milk feeds and 3 meals a day and there was just no way he was actually hungry at night he just like the comfort, and I know some people say they need the comfort but tbh I am back at work and I need the sleep.

bebe - promise P isn't saying Dada, and I bet you right now you are the center of her universe whatever comes out of her mouth!

tjuice - sorry not sure about the water, A only takes a few sips before being much more interested in banging up and down on the table. It's great news about the childminder tho.

mummyw - hope your LO is feeling better today.

disney - that pass sounds like great value, lots of fun for your LOs.

Question - A is having 1-2 screaming fits in the day, arching back and inconsolable and we are trying to figure out the reason. He is pooing once or twice a day but it is quite solid poo and we were wondering if he was suffering from constipation. So, and i am really sorry about this question, what should 7 month old poo look like?

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 20/02/2009 11:07

Well done ISAIDNO, I need to get Sam out the 5am habit. He's only up for 10 mins whle I feed hima dn he goes straight back off, but I don't! Just need to be brave.

libra I'm doing the C25K, but just not on the thread, don't have time to keep up with this one, let alone another! I only started Weds though, so 2nd run of the week will be tonight when boys are in bed. I can't run for toffee, but wanted to give myself a challenge this year.

I know it dead cheeky, but here is my fundraising page, for Rcace for Life, just in case any of you feel generous!

Rumpel · 20/02/2009 11:42

Hi All ? just a quickie as our new friends are coming around again this afternoon. We are having a bit of a blip at the mo?. DH has gone back to sleeping in a separate room as between C up and DD up and me coughing like mad there is not much sleep going on Poor DD has been very poorly so have been dosing her with medised ? which is fab as it has an antihistamine in it so makes her sleepy = best cure for poorly child.

RED ? Calvin is a really happy smiley loving wee chappie now but trying hard to talk ? at 11pm and 5-6 am He is adored at nursery and they say they wish they had 6 babies like him [proud emoticon] he is real Mummies boy. No teeth yet and he says ma ma a lot. He is back in the bed with me though as we have both been poorly and it is easier than stoating about at ridiculous am trying to settle him. Good to hear Louis is an angel now.

BEBE ? poor you. Sympathy hugs ? my back lawn is full of cat shit ? I have 3 but they go in the soil and cover it up but my neighbours cats keep dumping on the grass ? I am going to invest in a huge water gun !!! I put chilli flakes down yesterday ? it?s minging and don?t want DD stepping in it. My DD didn?t start calling me Mummy until 1 week before her second birthday ? before that I was Daddy ? Daddy is her world. She was like alimpet on Wednesday when she was feeling poorly ? DH took the day off and she was superglued to him ? it is because he is a big softy and let?s her away with things and girls are so manipulative so young
My hair is still falling out too ? I?ve lost a third of it now ? just as well it was like a thatch before LOL.

JODIE ? I have managed to lose 3.5 lbs this week ? so totals 1st ½ lb loss now ? I put a couple of pounds on beforehand. My Mum is coming down in march as it is our 6th Anniversary so Dh and I are going away for a night in a hotel ON OUR OWN [shockl] and Mum wants to take me out for the day and treat me to something nice to wear so I want to get down to 13st for that ? another 61/2 lbs to go.
We?ve made some nice new friends too ? a lovely girls who has 3 DDs (a bit like you SK ? they are almost 5, 3 and 6 months) and Amber and her girls love playing and I get on really well with her. In fact I am hoping they might buy a house on our estate.
WOW at you 25k that is a lot ? are you a practised runner?

I?ll get around to sponsoring you both when I get a min.

MUMMY ? hope littlie is better xxx and good luck with the studying.

SK ? Know exactly the never enough hours thing ? I still have so much to do in the house but you end up spending half your life cleaning/tidying/feeding etc ? I have no idea how you ladies with loads of kiddies keep your sanity never mind the house clean!!

Must go and attempt to tidy up before friends arrive.

Take care all

Rumpel · 20/02/2009 11:44

TJUICE - mean't to say that too much water with meals dilutes the stomach juices so interferes with digestion/inhibits absorption of nutrients and also flushes out essential minerals/tissue salts. Will post the long story behind my experience later as must go.

sweetkitty · 20/02/2009 12:10

Disney/Jodie - will remember to sponsor you both in a bit well done on the Race For Life, I will be beagering you all in a bit to sponsor DP as well, his training is going well but sometimes it pees me off a bit as I have booked to have my hair done for the first time since September (it's falling out like mad too and is just minging). Anyway DP is like "oh SK thats messed up MY day I was planning on going a big run and I can't go first thing because of dancing/swimming" poor him can't be easy, he spends about 3 hours every weekend running as it is, I think I will take up a 3 hour hobby (does sleep count as a hobby)?

Rumpel - glad you've got some new friends, is your friend with the 3 DDs as mad as me huge well done on losing weight too. I am with you on the other cats pooing in your garden, mine go in a litter tray but at least it's not in the garden, it's other moggies coming in and pooing that gets me and last week neighbours dog went on our front grass, DP lobbed it back over onto their garden. Total pet hate of mine, dog crap everywhere you want to walk, it;s bloody disgusting having an animal that craps in the street. Down the park theres a lovely kids playground but straight outside it theres dog poo everywhere.

Bethany was up at 10.45, 3, 4 and 6 this morning before getting up for good at 7.30am, the woman in Asda this morning was asking me if she slept through and when I said no never she said you want to put her on stronger milk, when I replied she's BF she looked at me as if I was mad, oh well.

Right better get off here, got to hoover living room, make lunch and then off to toddlers

disneystar · 20/02/2009 12:37
