TheRedSalamander · 16/02/2009 20:00

And peanut don't forget peanut how's charlie?

TheRedSalamander · 16/02/2009 20:01

Yay for Kezzy but poor lamb with a bump. Louis doing the carpet-humping action, trying to crawl, so cute! But pulling to stand? No chance! Go Kezzy! L still wobbly if sitting.

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 16/02/2009 20:31

Wow Kaz, that very forward! You'll have your hands full soon enough!!!!

TRS I 'Spoke' to Peanut today via FB and all is well, she's been in NZ visiting her family for a while (still got a while left to, lucky bugger!) so limited internet access, all is well and she said she misses us and says hello!

Sad day today, the couple and their family that got killed on the M6 last year, the driver was sentenced today and it's bought it all back, she was an old work friend of mine, and although I hadn't seen or heard from her in years, it still hit home how close it can get to your own doorstep IYKWIM.

Am very tired so no time for catch up (will save that for work on Weds ) But got 2 poorly sniffely, teething boys here (Sam now on tooth number 8! ) All day I;ve had one of them in my lap being misrable and the other crying waiting for his turn! Glad it's bed time, just wish I wasn't in a diet as I would eat my weight in chocolate!

sweetkitty · 16/02/2009 22:07

Jodie - thats harsh that poor family flicked over and saw a bit of that Jade programme, so sad she was having Xmas with her boys, sorry you have ill babies too

Kaz - well done Kez, been looking at your FB pics and she is such a wee cutie too.

We have carpet humping here too and she is kind of shuffling around to get things, not so much rolling now though, won't be long until crawling eek. This past week she seems to really have taken an interest in toys and everything she's always trying to get at things now. Loves sitting up now as well.

I "saw" peanuts messages as well

Rumpel - you poor thing, hoe you are fully recovered soon, so know what you mean about losing yourself a bit too

Tjuice - so glad Elodie is feeling better ur Mum's package sounds lovely, I think I would have cried getting it

Libra - hope the sleep thing works, fingers crossed

Disney - glad your DH is back home safe and sound but what a journey and with the DSs too

Kaz1967 · 17/02/2009 01:20

Believe me Red you don't want L crawling or walking. Kez has been crawling backwards since Christmas forwards since week on Sat and I have not been able to leave her anywhere without her getting into trouble since Christmas

Mummywannabe · 17/02/2009 10:31

Libra- should have said £300 a month for 2 days per week.

Rumpel - doing degree in early years.

MAx has croup according to doctors, going back today as not sure. I think he has a throat infection. Anyone else use baby vitamins? Any recommendations

Kez- wow! Max not showing any signs of crawling, or moving in general!

Sorry for short sharp post but gotta get ready for doctors and max is coughing again.

disneystar · 17/02/2009 11:56

Trespass · 17/02/2009 15:16

hi every1, not been on for a long time but do try to catch up now and then. It's good to see so many of you still on here, (mental note-must make more effort!). I love reading the progress on all the little 1's, and am amazed at some of the things I read. Harvey is such a lovely baby, so content, very good sleeper through the day and night. He's loving his home made purees, but I must admit, I'm a bit scared of the finger food, mostly cos I don't know what to give him and he might choke! He's not rolling yet, he can sit up but falls over so not stable yet. I think he's just lazy! He loves his door bouncer but over here they discourage using walkers till 8mths old, but gonna get 1 at the end of the month when bk in UK.

I'm very jealous of you all meeting up, that would be brill, hope you all enjoy it and take plenty of photos. Also know what you mean about looking in the mirror and not recognising who's looking back!! I have seriously aged sooo much since H, and my psoriasis is bk worse than ever, I have the biggest rudolph nose lol! I think a lot of it's because I really forget to eat and drink during the day, so stupid and am trying to improve.

can't remember everything I've read but thanks for still being here you guys and sorry for rambling xx

Isaidno · 17/02/2009 15:43

hi all; just read back and forgotten everything!
Been at the mils for 3 long days, but I'm home now. Gotta take the ds to swimming so will post again later, but Libra - I think I will be doing some sleep training here tonight.

Eeveing all,

MUMMYWANNABE - I use liquid vits for DD (2.5) and Calvin - he's 7 months now. I am a great believer in supplementing your diet and take essential fatty acids, a multi-vit and mineral, B complex and am taking 2g of vit C and zinc at the mo' as I am so run down. As far as I know the RDA is the MINIMUM amount to prevent you getting scurvy, rickets etc but most of us don't process them very well - especially if you are run down, on medication, breast feeding etc. How many years left of OU have you?

TRESPASS good to hear form you.

KAZ - my wee chappie is standing now too - he can't sit up but he can stand for about 5 minutes holding onto my index fingers and today he just held on to my t-shirt with 1 hand. It's hilarious as he looks so chuffed with himself when he stands up - he positivly beams with pride LOL

Asking you all for healing vibes to DD - she has a stinking cold/high fever and has nursery tomorrow and to prevent me having a nervous break down due to lack of head space recently I really need her to go.

Speaking of which the 1 thing I find hardest about Motherhood is NEVER having time on my own. I really need and like my own company and I find this hard - eveb they are both at nursery on a Wed you still have to drop off, pick up etc and spend the day tidying up. I never get to be properly on my own - I sound like a right whinging minnie! I love them all dearly but a coupld of days in a hotel on my tod would be fab - [dreamyemopticon]

Oh well must go settle my wee chappie.

Take care all#
xxx

Poledra · 17/02/2009 21:22

Ohhh, Rumpel, I am so with you on the lack of time on your own. I lived on my own for 5 years (well, DH/DP as he was then, spent a fair bit of time with me for the last 2 years, but you know what I mean). It's the constantly being on call - no matter what you're doing, you're either listening out for them waking, or clock-watching for when you need to collect them. My sister phoned me recently and, when I asked what she was doing, she said 'You're going to be so jealous - I'm in my house on my own!' Her two DCs were at the park and her DH had gone out. She was right, I was jealous.

Hi to all, supposed to be finishing my online shopping so best get back to it.

Hey experienced mums - got a question about drinking water. I give Elodie sips during her meal and she really wants to guzzle it.

Yesterday, I let her drink as much as she wanted and she drank a small tippee cup full. I could hear it sloshing around when I picked her up. But she also gets 2 BF and two bottles a day. Is there any reason to regulate water intake?? Or should I just offer and let her drink as much as she likes? Since she has a cold, I have been offering in between meals too.

bebejones · 18/02/2009 09:13

Kaz that is so cute, bless her! Got a small clip of P trying to crawl, she gets so cross that she can't move...must post on fb.

P's 'speaking' is getting better and better. Da da da da da has on occasions been dada and even daddy, although she says it at everything. If you say words to her, mummy, cat, foot etc she pauses looks at you & says dada! We have only had mama ma on a couple of occasions, but she does do tata at the cat (jaffa). Shes just 6 months so there is time yet! She is such a chatter box & has been since sge was tiny!

Took the bumper off her cot as she kept untucking it and pulling it over her face, now she rolls over & gets her arm stuck in the bars of her cot...nightmare, it's taking an houir+ to get her to sleep at night, very unusual for her! Feeding has been a nightmare this past week too, as she is just so squirmy & wants to grab everything, lucky if she does 4oz, I need baby blinkers!!!

pigleychez · 18/02/2009 09:41

Will catch up properly in a but but just off out...

Just seen on "This Morning" they are doing a piece of child/infant first aid/resus. I know some of you were talking about doing a course. Im off out but going to skyplus it.

I pressume it will be on the website if you miss it.

Ill be back in a while

Isaidno · 18/02/2009 13:11

tjuice - i think a beaker of water is fine at mealtimes, as long as she doesn't feel too full to eat. Can her kidney problem make her thirstier?

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 18/02/2009 14:35

I am here lurking and reading might actually get to make a post later

TJuice · 18/02/2009 15:46

hi isaidno - i was also thinking that. she doesn't really have a problem now but it can only be a good thing to flush everything out right??
but in a healthy baby, do you just let them drink as much as they want?

(hope the sleep training went well)

Poledra · 18/02/2009 16:01

Hi TJuice, I've always let the girls drink as much as water as they like with their food at this age. I think more ends up down their fronts than on them, mind you. I always think if they don't need the water, then they'll just wee it out.

I do sometimes take DD2's drink away from her at the table, as she definitely will drink so much that she doesn't want to eat.

pigleychez · 18/02/2009 16:27

Tjuice- I too let Abigail drink what she wants at meal times.
Also agree that most it gets worn!- Abigail shakes her cup up and down to give herself a shower! I too have to take her cup off her after a while as she likes playing with it too much to eat her food.
Think I remember somewhere that drinking water at mealtimes helps with digestion and tooth care.

Kaz- Love the video clip- they are growing up too fast! I must do a video of Abigails walking soon.

Bebe- Dont you just love the chatting! Abigail has a very cheeky "Ha Ha Ha" that she does now!

Abigail was weighed today and has now dropped to below the 25th centile line. Not too woried as I think its been becuase she was ill and off her milk. HV asked about her feeding and looked very blankly at me when I mentioned BLW. Looked horified when I mentioned she liked Garlic bread.

Postman delivered all the paperwork for our new house today including the contract. Slightly worried about the survery report.. seems the roof will need replacing soon as its an old property and there may be asbestos too.. all expensive work! DH says its nothing to worry about but cant help but feel alittle unsure - Not that I have any clue on that side of things.

Poledra · 18/02/2009 17:31

And what's wrong eith garlic bread, pigley? I was feeding Orlaith some pasta the other night, and DH took the garlic bread out the oven. As soon as she saw it, O refused to eat any more pasta and yelled at DH till he gave her some. There is something slightly disturbing about your angelic baby having garlic breath though

TJuice · 18/02/2009 19:00

well, too much water can affect electrolyte balance, i guess. its difficult because she really pulls on her tommee tippee cup and can drain it.

well, happy medium is the way to go, as always.

Elodie loves garlic! i make her homemade hummus with garlic and lemon and even tahini and spices. who says babies don't like flavour? still very careful with the salt though, so am trying not to give her too much grown-up ready-made food.

got my childminder situation sorted, i think. met the family and childminder yesterday and we all liked each other. its going to be two weeks at my flat and two weeks at theirs. the only problem is that i finish work earlier than them and when they are at mine, i will basically have another baby and childminder at my place when i get home from work. but still, a full day here is 08.30 to 15.30. no working until 6 or what have you. and it does mean that i can go to the gym or do errands sometimes.

disneystar · 18/02/2009 21:32

hi all and many thanks to those of you that have sponsored me

regards water it is recommended that the child eats first then drink to whatever they require,as drinking is easy and its very easy to fill up a small tummy, sometimes the child gets used to a drink beforehand and then either refuses the food if not liked and hence they get crafty

ive had a ng tube fed child for years and have had training regarding all feeding and drinking issues, and its just good to get into a routine they know beforehand rather than try to reverse things IYKWIM

kaz very impressed with your video what a clever little thing eh!

samuel still not sitting and cant support himself whatsoever from bottom of his spine and upwards its odd seeing all these developing babies and samuel still the same as a newborn really only much louder....

disneystar · 18/02/2009 21:45

samuel now refuses formula all the time he doesnt want it at anytime for breakfast its
1 weetabix with cows milk warm
fruit
lunch sweet potato carrots
dinner casserole and finger foods
watermelon or pineapple or yoghurt
always water afterwards he flatly refuses a ff and spits it out but if i give him cows milk in his cup he drinks it

i gave him a red pepper the other day he chewed and gagged nd sicked everywhere at the dinner table the children just ducked there heads as they were eating twas so funny
