Libra- glad work is going well. I'll be doing 3 days too. 2 with nanna and 1 at nursery (although i am lucky as i manage a nursery so will be at work with me - altough i won't see him) Although think it will be so hard if i hear him cry and not wanna go in and snatch him off the staff . I trust them completely (else they wouldn't be there!) and its not fair to interfere. On the plus side he only usually screams in anger and doesn't cry unless really upset so at least i'll be able to tell!

pigleychez · 11/02/2009 21:12

Mummywannabe- Im the same with nursery.. If i went back I maybe able to have Abigail there too but knowing she only in the next room id be forever peeking through the window at her and would be straight in in she cried. Id prb end up having her with me most of the time and never get any work done!

If you dont mind me asking, what are the finacial arrangements for DS being at nursery. Do you get a free place, discounted or have to pay full whack? I think I may of got a small discount but not much as the boss is abit tight!

Mummywannabe · 11/02/2009 21:16

After some negotiation on my part managed to get a discount (but not alot). I have worked there 10 years or more and run the business for the owner so felt a little give and take would be nice, however if no discount had been offered i would have accepted this too.

Gonna give it a go when i go back and see if i cope. If not will look into other options. If i didn't have to go back i wouldn't but prior to DS i was higher earner out of me and DH.

pigleychez · 11/02/2009 21:35

Amazing isnt it the amount they make but are so tight

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 11/02/2009 21:36

don't forget childcare vouchers!

B is still up showing no signs of sleep, DP and I just had massive row over nothing and I am so tired I'm off to bed.

ponto · 11/02/2009 23:12

mummywannabe, I did wonder where to put the olbas oil tissue in the cot - in the end I stuffed it behind the head end of the mattress, she would have to be quite a contortionist to reach it!

SK, hope B has lovely long sleep tonight and you wake up refreshed and make it up with DP.

Another vote for Tesco nappies here, though I'm using Asda size 4 at the moment and they do quite well.

Poledra · 11/02/2009 23:22

SK, I'd have a fight with DH over nothing if he was bloody in the house. First night for a fortnight he hasn't had to work in the evenings and where is he? Sitting having a conversation with his lovely wife? Helping with getting his oldest DD's costume ready for the new library opening at school tomorrow? Even just slouched in front of the telly, taking his turn (for the first time in a fortnight) at going up to settle whichever child has problems sleeping?

No, of course not - he's gone to the pub. Because clearly, spending some time with his mates in essential. Excuse me, when do I get time off from childcare? I'm going to a friend's hen day/evening soon, and I'm taking Orlaith with me, so he will have to look after the 2 older ones, but will still have no idea how difficult it an be with 3. OK, it's my choice to take O, I suppose, as I won't put her on a bottle (can't express enough milk to keep her going for a day), but I just felt in need of a rant - thank you for listening .

Oh, and I wouldn't advise having Orlaith speak to anyone re sleeping - after our good night on Monday, we had a dreadful night last night - typical!

Off to bed with a cup of tea now - hope everyone has a good night's sleep.

disneystar · 12/02/2009 07:33

samuel does not sleep in the night and never has and im shattered this morning
BUT i have a theory that hes eating too much i know this sound silly but he eats like a pig and gets real windy all night.
he also drinks lots of water and is flatly refusing milk feeds anymore
i guess hes taking 10 oz a day or rather he has that in the night
thats the problem he wants milk in the night

i got a terrible headache today through lack of sleep . im def having a nap when he goes down later
had to laugh at someone eating toast woth peppa in the background
its always always spongebob here that theme music is in my head all day long then

better go to do the packed lunches i just cant be bothered today and dh away again, like thats anything new though

hope your all ok and babies doing well and happy

bebejones · 12/02/2009 09:43

Tried giving P a cuddly toy to stop her untucking the bumper last night but she just got too excited and wouldn't sleep so ended up taking it off her & stroking her arm til she settled. If she falls asleep with blanket or something on her face she wakes when i try to move it. Will persevere though, just need to find the right object! On the nappy front we use pampers baby dry & have just gone into size 4's & that seems to have stopped the damp patch! Tried Tescos & Huggies but found them all to be pretty much the same TBH. P never makes a fuss when she has a dirty/wet nappy so has never woken up needing a change... in fact this morning she had done a huge poo & I had no idea until I went to take her nappy off! Had gone in & found her commando crawling up the cot again, she was very pleased with herself!

On the work front I may be able to work from home for another part of the company, we are still ironing out the details, but it would be great if it works out. Am thinking of then putting P in nursery a couple of mornings a week from September. Watch this space!!

sweetkitty · 12/02/2009 10:13

Morning all, I don't even know what the argument with DP was all about, something about nothing.

poledra - I would have been severly p-ed off with DH too. My DP always has the "well I get up at 6.10am every morning YOU get an extra hour in bed" I cannot even use the I'm up in the night with B as he does get up when DD2 does. Yes I agree a whole day on his own with the 3 of them would shock him, oh and doing the housework, going to Asda and maybe an ironing to fit into everything else. You rant away I find it helps.

disney - hope you get a nap today, lack of sleep sucks

bebejones - I have been trying to "bond" B to a little pink teddy in that everytime she goes to sleep I tuck it in with her and also have it next to me when she has a feed. I think you are supposed to take cot bumpers off once they get to 6 months. I found a sleeping bag great either that or legs get caught in bars (once they get older). Also mine tended to wriggle up the bed and bang their heads off the top bar, I use the v shaped pillow as it won't go over their head but it padded IYSWIM.

Nappies - I consider myself a bit of an expert on nappies (sad I know) but I tried EVERY brand with DD1 disposable and washable. Another vote for Tesco's here, better than Pampers or Huggies IMO and cheaper too. Tesco's £7.50 for huge pack but have also found Sainburys good too and they are doing 2 packs of 30 odd for £6 just now. Boots/Morrisons/Asda don't like. Pampers baby dry I hate one pee and they feel at their knees especially once they start walking.

For you washable users, I love tots bots the best but even they had to be boosted for DD1 during the day and leaked at night, adored Fuzzi bunz but they were pretty useless. I do think that certain babies suit certain nappies re their body shape etc

purplejennyrose · 12/02/2009 10:50

Hello all! Remember me??

Feels like weeks have flown past, haven't posted in ages and ages - though have lurked a few times to see what you all up to!

All Ok here, Florence cut two teeth with much crying and sleeplessness. Had a week long D+V bug, all 4 of us, but better now, and dd1 went through vv clingy phase. She seems alright now.

And then of course the snow, didn't get out for days. Feel like we've been in isolation - need to start getting about again.

Left the girls for two hours yesterday while I popped into work - it felt sooo good to go off on my own, especially after the last few weeks of cabin fever!

Work have said I can go back 10 hours a week and basically design my own job!! I can do what I want as long as I do it on Thursdays and Fridays. And am taking the full year so still a while yet. Feel good about that too - need to do something for me now.

Meet-up sounds great though I don't think I can do 28th Mar.

Great to hear everyone's news, must go and grab something to eat while Florence sleeps!Have ordered a load of new clothes online, as my wardrobe was just a joke, nothing fitted and all falling apart. So waiting for parcels today!!

Mummywannabe · 12/02/2009 11:40

disney - funny enough Max is the same, when i used to dream feed him he would then wake all night, when i stopped it he slept better , and there was me thinking i was being nice to him by feeding him incase he got hungry in the night!

Libra - looking into childcare vouchers, we accept a huge variety but our accountant is looking into doing it ourselves (in house as it were) as no cost to the company.

I'm at work on a keeping in touch day, as you can tell i'm working hard (Max with nanna!). We have chicken pox doing the rounds so he bound to get this as starts in 3 weeks and will need to do settling visits soon . Ho hum!

pigleychez · 12/02/2009 12:19

Hello all,

Im knackered today as Abigail was a nightmare last night, up 3 times which is nothing new but took a good hour each time to get her back to sleep! Her sleep is getting me down again now as she is showing no signs of ever sleeping through any time soon
Shes asleep now so should have a nap myself but I cant seem to sleep during the day anymore.

Hope everyone else is well.

mcchesers · 12/02/2009 12:24

Hello all. I'm still alive by my chinny chin chin. Still trying to shift this blinkin pram that my MIL bought. If anyone knows anyone in Glasgow that needs a pram please let me know.

Anyway, wow it's all go. Movers come tomorrow to take my life away and mates come to collect our stuff all throughout the day. Aidan is feeling much better after an unpleasant ear infection and stuffy nose. He went off solids all together and seems to be getting his appetite back just now. No sign of crawling, no sign of teeth..just a big ol chatty baby! I'd say how much I'm going to miss you all, but I'll still be on lurking and posting when I can.

Our sleep is rubbish. Down at 8, up at 11 ish and 3 and 6 for milk and a cuddle. HV said until we are settled in over in Texas, just to appease him as he's been sick. It's a difficult time, but he adjusts really well to change. I love nursing..but I want my boobs back damnit! Mercy..back to the grind. Just saying howdy and checking in. Will spend more time reading later. xoxo

Isaidno · 12/02/2009 12:46

pjr - of course we remember you! date for meet up could be changed - go on the facebook thread - it's easier to keep track on there! Your job arrangement sounds great; you are lucky to have such flexibility.

mcchesers - hope your move goes well; let us know when you get your new home, and don't forget about us.

re sleep - Poppy slept through every night for a week, then promptly went back to waking at least once for feeding. Now she has acold, so being soft at the mo, will try and be firmer in a week or two.

mama2leah · 12/02/2009 13:41

ne1 knw ne good high is fat good to giv her?
remember possible dairy allergy aswel..

x

Mummywannabe · 12/02/2009 14:27

Mama2leah - my ds lost weight week before last, lost 4 ounces for no apparent reason. I think it was due to him starting weaning and settling himself in a routine. He made up for it this week.

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 12/02/2009 16:04

M2L - Wouldn't worry about it too much, just keep an eye on it! Glad to hear your OK, and I felt like you do when I was pregnant with Sam, I just kept forgetting and had really guilty feelings, when he/she gets here you'll forget all about it!!!

Well am still at work, going to leave to pick up boys in a min, and I've really missed them today, first full day without them. I know DS1 will be fine, but I hope Sam is OK. I'm sure he will be...

PJR was thinking about you today, glad you're OK... Where are you then if you're thinking of the meet up? I always thought ou were on of the London Lasses!

sweetkitty · 12/02/2009 17:28

M2L - the most high in fat and calorie food there is is breastmilk, feed her more often.

I couldn't tell you if B was gaining or losing weight as she hasn't been weighed since her 4 month jabs, neglected third born child that she is!

mcchesers - you poor thing you sound so stressed, deep breath and remember it will all be for the best and you ahd better not forget about us or else

I made Bethany this for dinner last night recipe she adored it and it made 6 good portions, she had it with carrot and baby corn batons and a yoghurt to finish

purplejennyrose · 12/02/2009 17:38

Jodie - not London, a west country lass!! Up a hill in wet and snowy Gloucestershire to be precise!

SK - are you doing BLW or a mixture? Florence is getting very frustrated with feeding herself after making such a good start - her pincer grip is basically rubbish! Have been doing quite a bit of loading up spoons with mush and giving them to her...

sweetkitty · 12/02/2009 20:21

mixture here, every meal she gets some puree and some finger foods

disneystar · 12/02/2009 20:54

i think me and PJR and BEBE are all within a few miles of each other all gloucestershire

bit frustrated tonight as dh has an accident at work as you know hes a hgv driver and in norwich right now
hes in hospital up there hes tx me to say hes in a lot of pain absolutely no idea whats happening all i know is im driving a 4 hour drive up there as soon as i wake up.
i hate being away from him at the best of times, they are trying to sort him out as they put it, and will let me know when they know
what type of answer is that,if it wasnt so late id be driving up there now

TheRedSalamander · 12/02/2009 21:42

SK- I am the mner formally known as Minkus, just fancied a change!

Louis has "slept through" twice this week (once 21:15- 05:00 and once 22:30- 05:30, both times back to sleep then until 07:30 ish ) which has completely astounded me as he very rarely wakes less than three times a night. Last night he was back to his normal tricks though! DS1 was about this age when he started to go through more reliably, so am hoping that Loukins will start to do it more often now.

Am grey with tiredness, both hair and skin really suffered since he arrived! I normally make an effort no matter where I'm going, always do at least bare bones of make up and quite interested in my appearance clothes-wise, but recently when I look in the mirror I don't recognise the saggy worn out old sack that I have become. I have even started wearing flat shoes - before L I was strictly a heels gal. Never did flats unless trainers for gym or my slippers! And as I write this I am wearing 6 day old jeans, a revolting patterned tunic top, a cheap old hoodie (nice colour just looks cheap!) and mismatched socks.

On the bright side dh has bought me a treadmill as I was moaning about not being able to do any sessions with my running crew (three of us used to go regularly) so maybe my spare tyre might deflate before I go back to work.

Re: meet up- won't be able to make the Solihill one, sounds lovely though! Bebe/pjr/disney/anyone else in our neck of the woods, do you fancy getting together too maybe? I come to gloucester three times a week at least as ds1 goes to nursery just a few miles outside the city (I'm in ross on wye) so it's not too far at all for me.

Right instead of moaning how tired I am, I'm off to bed now! DH out playing pool at the local pool club with our next door neighbour so I am going to put some relaxing sleep spray on my pillow and get an hour in before Louis wakes me for the sole purpose of bothering my jugs.
