always should have read always. Humour lost now!

Libralovesbiscuits1975 · 06/02/2009 15:03

Jode - 6 teeth! How old is Sam? Hope you get DS1 back into his own bed quickly and get some sleep.

isaidno - hijack from other thread - I have the same problem with left and right! It's not instinctive for me and when I am giving DH directions in the car always have to start thinking is it left or right about a minute before the turning comes up!

disneystar - sorry to hear about your little girl. From what you have told us about Sam he is such a little fighter, i wish I could give you some advice on how to cope better but you seem to cope so well and better than I know I would in the same circumstances.

rumpel - sorry if i missed this but what did you used to do? As for being back at work, I am lucky as I am only doing part-time and I have to admit whispers am quite enjoying it so far and it feels good to be back.

kaz1967 - welcome back and love your photos!

Pigley - congratulations on your new house, i love decorating, sounds like you will need to babyproof it asap as well with A haring round the place! We gave Alex that Winnie the Poo for christmas and he loves it, in fact when he can't find his rattle he tries to take Winnies rattle off him!

ponto - ouch about the boiler! Can you claim on home insurance.

The weekend at moonfleet manor was excellent, I was really worried after I read the reviews and yes it could do in places with a lick of paint but actually we thought it was quite good value if you do the cheapest room with DB&B option. Plus it's in a gorgeous part of the country. Now want to try one of the others in the chain much to DHs bank managers dismay ;)

A sleeping habits seem to have got worse and now apparently morning time is 5:45AM. Arggh.. I am very very tempted to try controlled crying, just have to convince my DH who is much softer hearted than me...

Sorry about long post, back at work so have more time!

Isaidno · 06/02/2009 15:22

jodie - poppy has no teeth and is nearly 8 mths!
libra - glad you had a nice time. Poppy has forgotten that last week she slept through for 7 nights and keeps waking for feeding at about 4am. I could do controlled crying, but don't want to lose the sleeping time - she does settle back immediately. I think I will be more firm if she still wakes for food by Easter; then at least i won't have school run to do after a night of cc. Also by then dh won't be an invalid and can help me.

Well you're all still here! Had a quick scan of the new thread, lovely to hear about all the feeding, rolling, teeth, sitting etc! Hope everyone has had a good start to the year and has enjoyed the snow.
We're back in Liverpool now, still got nowhere to live but at my folks till March as they're away. Nate is rolling a little, no teeth through yet, not sitting but laughing constantly! Not sleeping through the night but settling well when fed. Started weaning at 25 weeks, all good but suddenly horrendously constipated! I can't get him to take any water so not sure what to do. Still breastfeeding but despite all my best baby massage moves..still no poo!!

Libralovesbiscuits1975 · 06/02/2009 16:24

...stewed apricots if he is puree fed, dried apricots if he is being BLW, gets EVERYTHING moving....

sweetkitty · 06/02/2009 17:08

lol @ apricots so true I just need to look at one and I'm dashing to the loo, very good for getting you going again post birth

So I am having a night out tonight with the girls just for dinner so far I have no milk expressed and little in my boobs, cannot find my tweezers and need to do eyebrows, have nothing to wear, all my going out clothes are donkeys old and too large and haven't got the time or money to go shopping, need to feed the DDs and DP not home, seriously need to wash hair but it's so badly needing cut that even straightening it will look crap.

Did I tell you I'm getting it all cut off next time I actually manage to get to the hsairdressers, well shoulder length bob, I'm so fed up with it

cass66 · 06/02/2009 19:44

so, I am going out tonight with hubby for my birthday. Feeding Ed before bed with my dress round my waist. And of course he voms everywhere. I think I managed not to get it on my dress, but have had to change my bra and camisole. and he's not 100% well, so I don't even know if we're going!! good timing eh!! Actually he may have chicken pox, he has 2 suspicious spots. great as I've just gone back to work!!!

ponto · 06/02/2009 19:44

SK, hope you get it together to enjoy your girls' night out. I see you still have time for the essentials such as MN.

I am feeling very sorry for myself as I have mastitis, I think it started where Bryony scratched around my nipple last week (trying to get thumb in mouth at the same time as feeding). Then as she hasn't been well she didn't have a good feed before bed last night, then slept for 11 hours and I woke up with my left breast feeling very sore (not like normal fullness IYKWIM). Tried to feed her loads today, but it was so sore when she latched on, then I started to feel flushed too and a red patch had appeared on the breast. So I saw the GP as an emergency this afternoon and have some antibiotics to take. Anyone know what helps, apart from feeding from that side? TBH it's so sore I feel like just giving up and switching to formula, though I had intended to bf for at least a year.

Bryony is a little better, at least no high temperatures, though she's covered with quite a rash now, no doubt some kind of viral thing.

Libra, glad you enjoyed your break, that's a good idea about the home insurance, I'll look into it.

Disney, that's so sad about your little girl, you always seem so strong but with what you have been through there must be times when you want to let it all out. That is what we are here for.

Isaidno, was thinking about you today when dd2 was demanding to take off her tights and shoes in a cafe - "I said no" is being used a lot around here!

cass66 · 06/02/2009 20:11

and now he's been sick again. so we're not going out. I don't know whether to feed him or not, will it just make him more sick or will he not settle without it??

Ponto - I had mastitis in the early days, it was horrid. warm flannels helped, and feeding/expressing from that side. and paractamol and ibuprofen. sympathies! Cass.

Rumpel · 06/02/2009 20:20

Evening all,

PONTO - try soaking a flannel/face cloth in lukewarm water with a few drops of lavender in it and applying as a compress - also feeding with your boob hanging down over and into LO's mouth.

Lots of water intake too.

CASS and SK - enjoy your nights out.

DISNEY - I remember you telling us about your DD before - you have had a horrible time in recent years. Is your Dh home for a family weekend? Sorry I missed about Sam's next op - when is it and is it for his heart?

Had a lovely day today - 4 Mummies came around and 4 babies and 2 toddlies and my two. We all had a good chat noisy house and ttoys everywhere and have decided to organise a night out foe us all - it is so nice to have some female company again. God I feel great just now - so much better. One of the girls I really really like is going to come see a house on our estate - I am so hoping she moves here as she is just lovely and her girls and DD play really well together. This is only the 3rd time we've been in each others company but she is lovely and we just get on so well. It was so nice to see DD with her girls - she ran up and gave them both a big hug shouting "cuddle, cuddle" She is dichotomous that one - 1 half angel 1 half monster

Anyway must go see to Calvin and spend some 'quality' time with DH.

Nite all and big xx and cuddles to all
xxxx ((( )))

MinnieMummy · 06/02/2009 20:43

Hey all, sorry I keep going in waves of either checking MN 5x per day or else not coming on at all for a couple of weeks! No particular reason, but I've been quite busy doing some freelance work. It's really quite satisfying because it does what you tell it to, unlike babies...

No teeth here despite much dribbling and no signs of them either. DS didn't get his first ones til 9mths so I'm not expecting much.
No sitting unaided either but Poppy is keen to be upright whenever possible. Again DS didn't sit til 8mths so the range of 'normal' varies so much, I know that doesn't stop you worrying when it's your DC that's 'behind' everyone else's!

Disney what's happening with the counselling you've been offered? Is there an opportunity there to talk it out with your DH together? I am a counsellor myself and if you are open to the process it can be so helpful.

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 07/02/2009 07:57

isaidno - A slept 10:30-4:50am last night which is amazing for him so I am thinking instead of controlled crying doing the core night theory i.e now I know he can go 10:30-5amish don't feed him again in those hours. However I totally understand about the quicker to feed them back to sleep thing!!

SK - did you have a good night out?

Cass - sorry you missed your night out, we had babysitters lined up so we could go out last night as well but then had to cancel because of weather - grrr. Sorry your LO is ill, personally I would feed him as much as he wanted to be fed even if he was sick afterwards.

Rumpel - night out sounds like fab idea (and there are some great 241 bargains out there at the moment). Went out with my NCT group to zizzis, it wasn't a late or boozy night it was just nice to get out without the DC!

Hi Minnie glad you are all well.

Alex is fab at sitting up by himself and rarely falls now, he can also balance to reach for a toy in front of him. However he absolutely refuses to go on his front for tummy time, as soon as we put him there he rolls onto his back!! I think he will be a late crawler (just due to laziness!)

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 07/02/2009 07:58

That was me Libra1975!

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 07/02/2009 07:59

oh the other thing he has started to do which is ADORABLE (pfb) is raising his arms when he wants to be picked up.

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 07/02/2009 08:10

Morning libra thats lovely isnt it, Sam's been doing it for about a week (he's just turned 7 months) and I love it! He also reaches out if he wants to be passed to someone!!

Had a bad night last night, all the effort I put into getting DS1 to stay in his bed the night before went to pot as he was throwing up all night!!! so he ended up with us anyway! Back to square one! aaaagggghhhh One step forward and 2 steps back!

Cass Sorry to here you had to cancel, hope Ed is OK this morning.

SK Did you get yourself organised and have a good night?

I really need a night out. It seems that all my 'mummy' friends are pregnant and don't want to go out, or can't get babysitters and all my 'non-mummy' friends have forgotten about me, or think I am only available for coffee in the day and not for a piss up! Maybe it's me? I promise I don't talk about the boys too much, infact I relish the opportunity to talk about something else.

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 07/02/2009 12:28

Hi ladies, there has been FB talk of having a 'Midlands' Meet up. One night in Birmingham if anyone fancies it. I'm up for it (not a late one) and so is Isaidno, and ShortShafe. Anyone else nearby, and any suggested dates?????

sweetkitty · 07/02/2009 12:39

Night out was good thanks early one back home for midnight, DP said B wouldn't take the bottle and he felt like she just wanted to be left alone so he did and she was asleep in 5 minutes, that was her until 3am this morning head was a bit fuzzy this morning and we woke up to snow. DD1 has a cold and a bit of a temperature so decided to keep her off dancing today.

One of the women there brought her 4 week old DS2 with her, he slept through the entire meal too.

I alwys feel guilty spending money on me, spent quite a bit last night and am now thinking I could have bought the DDs X, Y and Z for that

ponto - of course MN is an essential, I usually MN standing up with B on my hip though. Poor you with mastitis, the only thing I have head that helps apart from the natibiotics of course is the good old savoy cabbage leaves in the bra thing. Never done it myself but other swear by it. Worth a try.

minniemummy - hello

Cass - sorry you missed your night out, hopefully you will get another chance soon

Libra1975 - thats good on the sleep front, just worked out that Bethany slept for 6 hours last night too, thats unheard of. I think she sleeps better when I am not there, like she smells me and therefore wants boob. Maybe it was what she had for dinner, she had a biggish portion of lentil, carrot, onion, sweet potato and parnip puree followed by a whole baby yoghurt and some chips as finger foods, then a BF at 7ish before I went out. If her sleep isn't getting better by 12 months I will think about sleep training then, the reason for 12 months is by then I will know it's not food she is waking for but comfort and probably by then I will be so sleep deprived I will need my bed back.

Jodie - you sound so glum today, maybe you Midland lassies should get together, wouldn't a big get together be fab all the July babies I know it probably wouldn't happen though when I go out with the mummies all we talk about is the babies though! Maybe take the bull by the horns and organise a night out yourself with your non mummy friends???

Rumpel - glad you had a lovely day, that so describes my DD2 too, half funny smart little thing, half complete monster

minniemummy -

Isaidno · 07/02/2009 14:53

jodie - I'd love a little meet up; shall we tentatively say March? A saturday is prob the best. I also need dh to recover to babysitting standards.
I can get to Birmingham easily by train, but can drive so any other location suggestions are welcome. (and then I wouldn't get pissed and show myself up...)

There are plenty of places to eat in the city centre.

OP posts:
Isaidno · 07/02/2009 14:57

just made a meet up topic on our facebook group so we can see if anyone else wants to come!

bebejones · 07/02/2009 15:04

Hi to all! So jealous of all babies with teeth, some days P has little lumps under her gums & then the next day nothing! She has had rosy red cheeks on & off for bout 3 months and been coughing & dribbling loads too! Poor little thing must be horid them coming & going! Mind you my mum informs me I had no teeth til I was 13months!

P has been refusing to eat anything other than carrot or sweet potato for a week & as a result all her spoons, bowls & bottle teats have an orange/yellow tinge!! Don't know how to get rid of it!

Snow is beginning to disappear rapidly now I am a massive snow fan, and we never get enough! DH had Thurs & Fri off coz it was too bad to go to work but ended up working from home (hence why I have not been online in what feels like ages!) P was not a fan of snow as FB pics will testify to! She will learn to love it... I hope!

DH walked the 200yrds to Tesco today & came back empty handed as they had seemingly been attacked by locusts...not a single nappy or box of formula to be seen. His dad rang at lunchtime & said they were restricting ppl coming in & would only let ppl in when someone left the store! It is only a small store but serves a massive rural area which has been quite cut off! Nightmare, P is ok til Monaday but we have practically no food, & now the rugby is on so no chance of him going back up there!

I know there was something specific I wanted to say/ask but cant remember what! P will be 6 months on Monday, & for half that time I have had a numb hand, very frustrating but hey ho!!

MinnieMummy · 07/02/2009 15:26

By the way after a morning of stomach cramps I got my period this lunchtime - only 2 weeks and 5 days late!! Second outing (or should that be 'inning') for the Mooncup.
Still mostly in the 'phew!' emotional stage, I want a brood but not another just yet...

MinnieMummy · 07/02/2009 15:40

Also... let me know where the Birmingham meet is, I think it will probably be too far, but I will double-check when you've decided!

Isaidno · 07/02/2009 16:41

minniemummy - where are you?

OP posts:
disneystar · 07/02/2009 16:54

i could poss come to the meet up im about 45 mins from birmingham but depends when it is and sams got his cat scan that month.
whos coming so far? or on the maybe list

MinnieMummy · 07/02/2009 18:34

I'm south of Oxford, so it would be at least an hour for me.
Am quite excited about the idea of seeing some of you in RL though!
