bebe - totally agree with the others some days they want loads of food other days not so much, B ate more savoury today but she takes ages and looks about rather than doing her head forward wanting another mouthful, I don't bring the spoon to her she lets me know when she is ready, but oh the difference when she knows it's sweet, she is wanting it faster than I can reload the spoon. When she see a rusk or toast now her hand goes out to take it from me too. Just persevere and remember "food is for fun until they are one" she doesn't need to get much in the way of calories from food she will be getting all she needs from her milk, at this stage it's all about playing and finding out about new tastes and textures.

pigley - congrats on the new house and enjoy decorating Abigail's room, I was the same when we moved in her, couldn't wait to get the pink paint out for my Abigail's room, it was all baby pink and coordinated, now of course she has grown out of it

poledra - love your story, DD2 shouts at Bethany, "is that a nice boob Bessany (she has a lisp)" and " MUMMMMMMM booooooooob" they are so funny

disney - glad Jessica is back home and doing well

ponto · 03/02/2009 22:47

Good news about the house pigley, when will you move?

Bebejones, have you tried making the food lumpier? Sometimes Bryony will refuse to eat any of her puree but if she sees me putting little bits of chopped up pasta or veggies in it, she will get very excited. Don't beat yourself up about it, it's not anything you're doing wrong, some babies are just keener on food than others.

Poor Bryony has a rotten cold and a high temperature today, I have been dosing her up with Calpol and ibuprofen but she has been pretty miserable. Fortunately dd1's school was shut because of the snow so B was able to have a long sleep this afternoon instead of coming on the school run.

disneystar · 04/02/2009 07:06

ponto our school was closed today also heating wasnt working too well and it was too cold and the school only opened from new in october last year
but im so stupid i didnt listen to the radio and i was the only one there waiting a big sign on the gate SCHOOL CLOSED.and i couod of taken it easy for a change.
samuel would not sleep last night he went down at 7pm woke at 8pm and would not sleep till midnight, boy was i tired
i think that 3rd tooth is appearing soon

and something huge for samuel he rolled last night i layed him on the mat while i put my knitting away turned round and he was crying on his tummy in amazing shock i was so happy i couldnt belive it,hes been lifting his legs up to his mouth when lying on his back for a few days now.
and they said he coudnt do stuff as hes got a curved spine, Samuel is late but he is doing it what a star eh!!!!

disneystar · 04/02/2009 07:08

pigley sorry hun forgot to say congrats on the new house

we bought a new build nearly 2 years go and still havnt finished decorating !!!!

Isaidno · 04/02/2009 07:38

disney - Sam's not late in rolling - Poppy still can't do it!!

OP posts:
bebejones · 04/02/2009 10:20

Disney that is so awesome, clever Sam!

P is very keen on lunging at food if i hold it, she holds my hand and sort of guides it to her mouth, it's very cute, and she is more keen on sucking puree off my finger than having the spoon. Will just persevere. Think she is a bit constipated which may account for the crankiness yesterday. Was going to give her some water but remembered something about orange juice, but don't know how much to give her....just a spoonful?

All the CB stuff has arrived, only getting paid from October, am so angry with DH still, although had a nice surprise that the amount went up in Jan, I had completely forgotten!!

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 04/02/2009 17:04

Disney Clever Sam!!!! Thats amazing. He's really showing them 'professionals' isn't he!!!

I'm so sad today, and I it sounds silly as I don't 'know' her but what about the news about Jade Goody and her cancer? She's gone from having a 40% chance of survival to just seeing how long they can keep her alive I think it's coz she's got 2 small boys that it feels so close to home, but feel really bad.

Are any of your babies not sittng up yet? Sam's not and I;m getting slighly worried, he's 7 months today, and he rolls, crawls (albeit slowly) and can stand up holding on to my one finger, but no sitting yet.......

Kaz1967 · 04/02/2009 18:45

Jody Kez is too bloody lazy to sit she moves around the floor rolls etc like Sam she is also desperate to stand and walk but refuses to sit (chucks her self backwards if unsupported) HV said don't worry it's not a problem at all she will

Dr Spoc says...

Rumpel · 04/02/2009 19:26

Hi All,
welocme back Kaz

Good news DISNEY - let's hope it was a one off for baby J and well done Sam.

BEBE - glad to hear your MS is the 'best' kind IYKWIM. Let's hope you are back to 'normal' functioning ASAP. hugs

JODIE - me too - I feel so sorry for her. I know all the hoo haa about BB but she is just uneducated (she has a had a rotten upbringing) but has no malice in her I don't hink - she is just very child like. Feel so sorry for her and her boys. Lets hope she defies the odds.

I booked my PAP smear today. We have them every 3 years in Scotland and I have been gettign them regularly since 17yrs old. Last one I had I conceived DD the night before and had to apologise to the nurse

Calvin eats loads and loves his grub - he takes a full small jar or equivalent, dinner time he gets a fromage frais too and then milk. he wakens up at 5.30-6.30am for milk, then porridge a while later, then another bottle, then lunch , then another bottle, then dinner, pudding and another bottle, sometimes 1 in the evening too. He takes about 9ozs milk.

Calvin and I are about to take part in some language development research in April following us for 20 months - should be interesting.

Anyway I must put this monster DD to bed then giving DH a back/shoulder massage.

xxx

Rumpel · 04/02/2009 19:28

he can't sit up yet either

cass66 · 04/02/2009 22:21

Hi girls.. Ed can't roll. he can sit for about 20secs. he's great at standing in his play station and walker at nursery. he's very good at picking things up and transfering them hand to hand. And he's very vocal!

I've been back to work this week, just all day tues and weds. It's been good and hard and I feel really guilty about leaving Ed for so long, but overall I enjoyed it. I had to express twice at work, and Ed refused any form of milk (expressed and formula) from a cup (with or without lid) or bottle while at nursery. He ate everything he was goven though! little monster, I bet he'll be feeding all night instead!!!

sweetkitty · 04/02/2009 22:34

Well we had a horrendous night last night, when I went up to bed B was really hot, she woke about 1am and would not settle, fed her, changed her, gave her Calpol, rocked her, nothing she was so upset, she had a wee runny nose so think she was running a temp, eventually got back to sleep about 3ish so you can guess how tired I was today.

Funny story though had to pick up prescription for DD2 and whilst waiting on it this woman had this really bad cough well she had a coughing fit and B started screaming, you know the high pitched I am really frightened cry, different from all others, tears everywhere, the poor woman was trying to stifle her cough and everytime B looked at her, her lips would quiver, it was quite funny

She hasn't been herself today though quite grumpy and she has only just gone to sleep.

Sitting - she can do it but flops over to get onto her front which is where she wants to be, loves standing too.

I used to be worried as with DD1 I met some friends from the post natal group and they had these big boys who were rolling, crawling and walking long before DD1 who would just lie there but she was walking at 12 1/2 months so not that much later. Theres no defined time they must do all these things by, they will do it when they are ready.

ponto - hope Bryony feels better too, first time I gave B Calpol you should have seen her face and she spat it out, now she is a Calpol junkie like the other two, she was stikcing her tongue out tonight looking for it!

disney - fantastic news about Sam

Jodie/Rumpel - I feel the same about Jade very sad, every mothers worst nightmare cannot imagine what she is going through, it upsets me to think about it

Rumpel - wow Calvin does eat loads, I must get B weighed as well but she will be nowhere near Calvin, babies should be lovely and chubby too DD2 was a chubby one, beautiful big chubby thighs love them but is a wee skinny thing now.

Cass - glad your OK back at work, Ed probably just wants milk from Mummy and will be fine on food, they have got us exactly where they want us haven't they?

minipinkscottish · 04/02/2009 23:11

disney - great news about Sam - he's a strong little boy who I think will surprise us all

Jodie/Rumpel/Kitty - also feel about Jade - she's a mummy like all of us and doesn't deserve all the criticism thrown her way.

Well I'm back at work and seems like I've never been away. Got quite a lot of responsibility and busy so helps the time pass.......love the job but would give it up in a heart beat for the chance to stay home and just be mummy I know I should be grateful for having a job in this climate but I can't help my feelings and right now the separation anxiety is terible...thought it was the babies that were meant to get that Abbie is happy and content with my wonderful childminder so that's wonderful and I'm so about that.

Night all.....shattered...can't stand the pace.......

ponto · 04/02/2009 23:35

Cass and minipink, glad your return to work went well.

Sk, Bryony was up with a high temperature in the night too. I went and bought stuff from the chemist for her today, cost me £10! So she has been dosed up on Calpol, ibuprofen when Calpol doesn't drop the temperature after an hour, saline nasal drops before feeds and Olbas oil on a tissue in her cot. Does seem a bit better tonight, but hasn't eaten much today, had some extra milk to make up for it.

Disney, sounds like Sam wants to prove all the doctors wrong!

Bryony has kind of got the hang of sitting now, though whenever I sit her in her cot she falls over and bangs her head against the bars. Pigley, I was inspired by your photo of Abigail standing up holding on to the furniture and put B up against the sofa for a few seconds. Don't think she liked it much though as she threw herself backwards into my arms.

Just had another quote for the boiler here, £3500 this time!

Muct go to bed, I feel tired all day then when the dcs are in bed I'm on here instead of getting an early night.

sweetkitty · 05/02/2009 09:32

I am seriously going to lose it with DD2 she has been having a tantrum for the past half hour all because she wanted to stay at nursery with DD1.

ponto - I am the exact same should go to bed earlier but sit up either on here or watching TV I think it's because it's the only rest we get. Glad Bryony is a bit better too. about your boiler

I worked out yesterday that apart from the 2 x 10 minute feeds I gave B and sitting down to eat lunch and dinner (and thats never sit down for the entire time) I actually never sat down until 10pm properly. B was unsettled and didn't go to sleep to just before 10, DD1 was mooching about complaining she couldn't sleep at about 9.30pm of course today both DD1 and 2 had to dragged out of bed, B was up about 4 times in the night, DD2 was up at 6am and then went back to sleep at 7am and didn't want to get up, oh and then the pther two went to bed and I had a quick shower and DP looked after B and said "SK you know you go on about the time I'm away running you have just had 40 mins to shower and get ready" I'm really annoyed with him now about that comment.

Sorry rant over I'm not going to toddlers today, I cannot be bothered, I know that sounds bad but it's too much of a hassle and stress getting over there, then DD2 has a tantrum when we leave and screams the whole way to nursery then tantrums when we have to leave nursery again. I think I am turning into a hermit.

Sorry need to vent this morning ignore me

Isaidno · 05/02/2009 10:05

School closed here today cos the snow has finally hit us.
Bit of a pita because I was taking dh to hospital for an appt about his op. That's cancelled til Monday now.

Poppy can sit for about a minute, but topples as soon as her concentration lapses. She doesn't have the skills yet to stop herself. She sits quite well in the rubber ring thing, or in the highchair, but I couldn't trust her on the floor with no padding! She's 7 and a half months, so I'm sure her sitting skills will improve quite quickly.

SK - I only sit down for 5 minutes at a time too. (ususlly to mn!)

cass - glad to hear work was ok.

Anyone else got a baby who doesn't like to do proper poo? Poppy has started to do normal sausage shaped poops and cries when they come out She's not constipated because they are soft. She preferred the big wet fart type of poo she had while still on bm only!

OP posts:
pigleychez · 05/02/2009 10:42

Snow is now melting here down south. Just miserable rain

Sitting- Abigail is really good and I leave her on the rug surrounded by toys. No padding behind her as she rarely falls back and if she does she turns to fall on her front. She then starts moaning as she doesnt like being on her tummy.
Abigail is at her wobbliest when she tired.

Abigail loves standing and stands well and happily for a bit holding onto furniture etc. Shes amazing me now though by making stepping movements with her feet when im holding her up. We have now started assisted walking around the room! God, shes going to be off before I know it!

She also amazed us the other day with how quickly she got the concept of cause and affect.
She was given Magic rattle Pooh for xmas but didnt get that you shake the rattle to make him move. The other day she shook the rattle and watched him move, you could really see her thinking about it and kept shaking it,stop then watch, shake it,stop then watch. It was really funny! Although yesterday she got that Pooh is actually noise activated and also dances if you screach very loudly at him!

Had a great day catching up with ld friends and thier litle ones yesterday. Today im off to B and Q to get paint charts and wallpaper samples for the new house

Hope those of you back at work are settling in again ok.

Disney- Sam will prove them all wrong!!

Best go as Abigails screaming into her teddy as she wants a feed.

Libralovesbiscuits1975 · 05/02/2009 11:24

hello, jsut wanted to get this back into my threads but also to say for those of you suffering from split skin around the fingers try this:
shop.elizabetharden.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2553433&cp=2571445.2519215
it's fantastic and a little goes a long way so it lasts for ages (to justify the price!)

If that's a little out of budget then try this:www.chemistdirect.co.uk/25-extra-free---flexitol-heel-balm_1_2708.html

I know it's heel cream but it's great for very dry and cracked skin which is basically what your finger splits are.

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 05/02/2009 11:37

Hi all. Had some bad news last night. One of DH's friend's from work lost a baby at 40+3 yesterday. I don't even know them but it's had me in tears all day. It just shows you how precious life is

On another (brighter) note we are just waitig for Sam to get up and we are going to play in the snow.....

Kaz1967 · 05/02/2009 13:07

Kezzy has just started to crawl forwards not fast and she has to think about moving her hands but she is so much happier and pleased with her self

Oh put some newer pics on my profile some newer pics on my profile

Rumpel · 05/02/2009 15:18

Sympathies SK - DD is doing MY NUT RIGHT IN TODAY ARGGGGGG!!!

Bad sleep last night due to forgetting to turn the heating off and I have the Dcs cold - again!! Feel awful today but made some choc cookies and lemony/sultana sponge as some Mummies and kiddies coming around tomorrow.

Bellydancing tonight - I've been practising all week so better have improved. CASS - I'm going to a tribal workshop next Thurs - been to one before - I adore tribal style especially gothic tribal so really looking forward to it - have you been/tried it?

JODIE - how I knew someone who didn't feel LO move on due date and ended up LO had passed over You wonder how people manage sometimes don't you.

PIGLEY - A sounds like she might be a future athlete

for you ladies having to go back to work - must be crap. What can I say?

Have booked us in for baby loves disco in May. Hopefully C will enjoy it.

I had a reflexology for the first time since I was very heavily pg with DD (21/2 years ago) on Tuesday night. It was lovely and I got on really well with the therapist - so much so she stayed and chatted for over 2 hours!! and has asked me to do a lecture/talk for the local reflexology society. She said not to have any more DCs but to get back to work so she could come to my classes - tee hee. It was so nice to talk to someone who is into the same kind of things as me and a great boost for my ego. Your ego/professional brain takes a right battering when you are out of work/adult society for so long.

We are off to look at a new car this Sat - a Volkswagon toureg or somat? The beamer is getting old and starting to cost £.

Love to all
xxx

HUBARB TWINKLE PEANUT DONUT how are you all and anyone else I've missed?

cass66 · 05/02/2009 16:04

hey rumpel. I'm not too keen on tribal gothic, I saw the bellydance superstars a few months ago and they were great, really clever, but not my thing! I like more traditional tribal. my new class is Egyptian, not arabic, and it's great. we're really concentrating on technique and improvisation. But as I'm new to the group I often feel like the worst there, esp on technique - our teacher keeps picking up my bad habits!!

Ed survived his night after his day of no milk. and hasn't fed too much today.

disneystar · 05/02/2009 16:10

jodie thats so sad about the lady with the LO and jade goody
i also had a cry this morning when i saw it poor poor woman

6 years ago i had to give birth to a baby girl who had sadly died inside me and had to through induced labour as i was over 26 weeks and ended up in theatre anyhow.and the thing is she didnt have the defective gene she was ok,but i guess thats life we are thrown shit to deal with.

had a bad day really im trying real hard to be ok but im not,had a bit of a spat with dh on the phone.
im half and half on samuel having the op and hes all for it,ok i know in my heart he has to have it done but i just cant bear it,its actually killing me inside as the days go by,
how can i cope better with it? must be something i can do
seems like a few of us a having an off day,
i just cant get motivated today im tired been up since 4am and i want to smile and mean it....

sweetkitty · 05/02/2009 22:21

Isaidno - I don't think Bethany's poos hurt her as such but she has been getting a bit of nappy rash since starting solids around her erm bum hole thats a shame discussing your daughters bit with the tinternet. BF poos were definitely nicer to deal with.

pigley - looks like you will be chasing after Abigail in no time at all, a friends baby had that magic rattle thing today and B loved it

Jodie - how awful for your Dh's friend don't know how you would begin to get over it

kaz - well done kez on crawling, so are you all moved into your new house then?

rumpel - I am so at my wits end with DD2, everything is met with a big NO, like DD2 put on your hat, NO, OK then don't your head will freeze, cue 1 minute into the car journey, I WANT MY HAT ON, no I'm driving now you can have it on when we stop, cue mega screaming tantrum and refusing to get out car, go in nursery, take jacket off, go in room. come out room, get in car well you get the picture. Times that by about 20 and that's my day, I cannot cope with it anymore I told DP that tonight. Anyway sorry hope you have fun bellydancing and ego/professional brain what's that?

disney - so sorry to hear of your loss of your little girl, life sucks sometimes. Sometimes though hearing sad stories makes you appreciate what you do have for and makes you thankful, thinking of you and Sam as always and I know you will do the right thing for him x

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 06/02/2009 11:25

Hi all. Disney sorry about your baby, I didn't know. I can't imagine how anyone feels when that happens (remember it happened to my Best Friend last year at 39weeks, she due soon, being induced dead on 37 weeks on 24th March, I am excited and nervous for her at the smae time. It's coming up the 12 month anniversay on 2nd March so she's feeling rough at the moment)

Well Sam's being a little monkey, but now I know why, Tooth number 4 was coming through so I checked on it's progress last night and it's not only tooth number 4 thats budding, but 5 and 6 aswell, poor mite, he must be in agony! At least he's geting them all out of the way at once!

SK I feel your pain, DS1 is the king of tantrums, I always sometimes resort to bribary (only when in public)! He tantrums about food mostly, like if I;m cooking tea he wants to pick, if I tell him no, he just does it anyway, then we have a screaming match and WW3 breaks out and it's not pleasant.....

Had rough night last night. I left my bed at 12.15 and got back into it at 6.30! We are trying to get DS1 to stop coming into us, as much as I love cuddling him, he's getting too big and fidgets so much, that none of us are getting any decent kip! So it's cold turkey! (bad habits formed when pregnant!)
