Like the new name, Ria

RIAchforthestars · 18/01/2009 17:44

good plan jammy.

I have been to see Dsis with baggins. no nice food left at M&S on the £10 offer though, so don't know what we're having to eat tonight

bought some lovely cut hyacinths with foliage from tesco, should have been £5, yellow ticket £1.25! and bought some for dsis too

poor cat jammy

LackaDAISYcal · 18/01/2009 18:26

Poor cat jammy; I hope she's ok.

love the new name ria

had a lovely day here; out to meet the PILs and BIL and family for Gran's 70th birthday lunch. It was really nice and relaxed with well behaved children. DD packed away a full sized children's meal; melon with berries and sorbet to sart with, then roast pork dinner with a huge Yorkshire pudding including three potatoes and a heap of veg, and then ice cream and banana to finish. And then some birthday cake! I don't know where she was putting it. We then went back to the PILs for a bit and are not long home.

DH has taken the photo for me to send to M&B magazine. It's a truly awful one of me, but hopefully it'll be quite small so won't look too bad

Your day sounds lovely Daisy. Though I can't complain as it's been lovely here too, doing a few chores and playing in between. Jamlet had some foamed milk in a little espresso cup when DH made his huge latte this afternoon and looked very cute with her nose stuck into the cup trying to get the last of the milk out

RIAchforthestars · 18/01/2009 19:48

Sounds a lovely day daisy. we'll have to visit PILs soon

I hope DH keeps getting Sundays off. He took DS1&2 and OPC out to fly DS1s RC plane this afternoon. It would be great to get out for a big walk another week.

Now he is deciding whether or not to go to hospital for some pain relief, but he has found out he is not meant to have steroid injections and doesn't know if there's anything else they can give him.

we are having retro chicken kiev and salad from the co-op! thaa's what we used to eat when we were first going out

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 18/01/2009 20:47

evening all.
well i didnt get my sleep as ellen was up till midnight last night, she wouldnt go to sleep and was disturbing tom, then when i took her into bed with me she was poking me and saying "wake up mummy" when i closed my eyes. little bugger. if she wasnt so damned cute i swear sometimes id strangle her.

well i had my blood taken at my booking appointment yesterday (i cant remember if i told you already ) and my arm was really hurting last night. woke up this morning and is purple halfway to my wrist from my elbow, and nearly to my armpit! near(ish) to where she took the blood.
what the hell has she done to mei cant straighten it, or lift anything with that arm. wtf?

had a good day here couldnt go out cos i was stuck in, pushing a double with a sore arm is impossible!
ellen ate SO much today my god she has hollow legs. shes been running around naked all day, with a roll of tissue, clearing up any misses or near misses (right next to the potty lol) i think she might actually be getting the hang of it, she wont wear a nappy today. im just letting her get on with it, i have wooden floors, just means i have to bleach them every night.

sorry to hear about cat jammy, keep us updated.
great new name ria
your day sounded great daisy, goodness me your DD put it away

LackaDAISYcal · 18/01/2009 21:23

sounds like she has nicked the wall of the blood vessel natty. That happened to me once when giving blood and I was bruised much the same (I've never donated blood voluntarily since!). Get it checked out though if you are still sore tomorrow.

OP posts:
NattyPlus2andAHalf · 18/01/2009 21:26

thanks daisy. nothing to worry about tho? whats concerning me as im getting more brusing as the day goes on. i dont know if its just that the bruising is coming out, or if my using the arm is causing it to bleed more?
never had this before, and being anemic anyway i have bloods done nearly every month
im thinking of making a complaint! stupid woman!

LackaDAISYcal · 18/01/2009 21:32

I'd get it checked out Natty. If it is a big nick causing lots of subcutaneous bleeding and you are anaemic as well, you might not be able to spare the extra blood. Watch out for breathlessness and dizziness.

RIAchforthestars · 18/01/2009 21:39

bloody hell daisy (no pun intended) that was a big word.

sounds nasty natty, keep an eye on it and get to your GP if you're worried.

DH has gone to the hospital. I should have gone too - I have a rash!!! (norks, tummy and forearms) Am a bit as haven't felt poorly, just really down a couple of days, but put that down to the stresses of the week.

My friend (yes, that one) has invited me for a cup of tea this week. It will be a bit odd, but I would like to claw our friendship back if possible.

LittleMissNorty · 18/01/2009 21:45

Evening all

Caught up and promptly forgotten everything .

Hope your arm is ok Natty.....did someone inexperienced take your blood? I only EVER go to phlebotomists....

got a few fish for the aquarium this weekend....looks really good and DD is fascinated (as is the cat!)

hope your cat is ok Jammy...

Been to mothercare world today and had a spend-up on totally un-necessary items (and a few necessary ones).....there is so bloody much ITNG stuff in there and DD was doing her nut trying to grab everything in sight....so she came home with a cup with a bendy straw around it IYKWIM with Iggle Piggle on it ....

Daisy....you need to FB me some details .

Do we get to see the photo? When is publication?

RIAchforthestars · 18/01/2009 21:48

aww, bless her norty. what is money for if not for spending? (says Ria, quaking at the thought of what DH having a job will do to our TCs)

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 18/01/2009 21:49

it was a MIDWIFE norty, do know what she said after she got the blood and i complained it had really hurt? she said "at least i never miss"

worse thing is she is my midwife, the one imm supposed to see each time. im changing midwives i think im allowed to. anyone that can inflict this much damage taking bloods i dont want near my emerging baby, she might pull its head off

LittleMissNorty · 18/01/2009 21:52

You should never let a midwife, doctor or nurse take blood....only phlebotomists.....that is what they are trained for.

When my BP went sky high last week, my MW offered to take bloods so I could go straight to MDU for assessment...I politely declined and went and had my bloods taken by people who know how to!

They just don't do it often enough and I personally don't let them anywhere near me.

Hope DH gets some pain relief at the hospital Ria x

LittleMissNorty · 18/01/2009 21:55

I can take blood, and I never miss (I would just poke away until I got there!!)....but it doesn't mean I'm any good at it

Very early on in my career, we used to teach 18 year old medical students how to take blood (from each other ....bet they don't do that any more)....and believe me....I would never let a doctor NEAR my veins!

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 18/01/2009 21:58

well duely noted norty, wont ever let that happen again.
ive always let whoever take bloods, cos worst that has happened to me is that they have left me with brusing around the needle site. not all the way up my bloody arm.

ive got to go register with a doc anyway near me tomorrow, so i will see if i can get the receptionist to ask the doc if i need seeing.
i live in a perminant state of dizzyness and breathlessness anyway, but have been a bit more than usual today. for some reason i dont seem to process iron at all, im always low when they check me, even when on tablets. my dad said he had to have a transfusion to fix it when he had the same problem. will prob push for further treatment after the baby cos it does effect me daily. (just makes me shattered)

honestly all this from having bloods taken. tsk!

i have insisted on a lie in on tuesday, first one since my birthday. DH has had several so i got the arse and stamped my feet lol.

is everyone retiring early tonight? DH wont be home till late so im all alone

RIAchforthestars · 18/01/2009 22:05

nope, I'll be here for a while at least. I have to see the phlebotamist too, the practice nurse once poked and poked for ages and couldn't get any blood so got the GP to do it. since then I've seen the experts! and even they have they have difficulty sometimes. My veins retreat at the thought of it!

norty, are you trained as a nurse?

Sputnik · 18/01/2009 22:06

The MW when I had DD wrecked my arm completely when she put the drip thingy in (they put it in here just in case, we didn't need it in the end)

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 18/01/2009 22:06

oh good got some company.
im eating tinned fruit and condensed milk for the third time today

RIAchforthestars · 18/01/2009 22:08

yum, I love tinned fruit and evaporated milk. peaches is the best. I like jelly with evaporated milk too, my gran used to mix it up together - looked disgusting but tasted nice.
not very SW friendly though.

LittleMissNorty · 18/01/2009 22:09

No, a scientist but worked in a medical school at the beginning of my career....teaching new medical students which was interesting.....

I have very deep veins which also contract at the very thought of a needle....I'm bloody dreading my epidural / spinal whatever I have....at lease last time the contractions were hurting so much, I couldn't give a toss....this time I've just got to walk in off the street, sit still and do it

Right, I'll probably dream about all that now!

My cat is currently trying to work out how he can get on top of the fish tank

Off to bed for more snoring....sleep...Night all x

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 18/01/2009 22:11

sorry being dumb sw?

think it might be a craving. carnation do a squeezy bottle so u can use a little at a time and put in the fridge. last three weeks. got kids into it too !!

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 18/01/2009 22:13

dont envy you norty.. i hate needles at the best of times.
i had a fantastic nurse at my doctors surgery, who always got my veins i miss her!

ho hum nothing on telly

RIAchforthestars · 18/01/2009 22:18

haven't even got telly on.

I thought you were a scientist norty, was just curious about taking blood and medical students, so justy wondered if you had been a nurse too. hope I didn't offend (my dsis is a nurse and she's scary)

my dad likes condensed milk with bread and butter. he is very thin and always has been, although I don't expect he's eaten it for years now.

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 18/01/2009 22:31

with bread and butter eh
i wonder what that would be like..

my brand new washing machine came up with err1 today, hasnt done its again yet.. hoping its a minor clitch cos i love it to much to replace it
