Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MerryMarigold · 21/01/2009 14:35

hey obs. how is the thaw going? so sweet dh remembering your 'first date' anniversary...we dumped that when we got married, but a bit sad really. i think it was jan 15th so just missed. will ask dh and make him feel bad .

got a HUUUUUUUUUUGE laptop. Dh wanted a Dell as he said they are indestructible. I see why now. It is so heavy, but luckily just for the house so we can get rid of large computer table and make space for twin STUFF.

going to Oz around 21st march. hooray.

my tummy measures 39inches . i think it's more than my hip measurement!

MerryMarigold · 21/01/2009 14:38

told dh about date anniversary and he said. "let's just try and remember our wedding anniversary!". so romantic!

Ceebee74 · 21/01/2009 14:41

Furry hope things go ok this afternoon Am sure you are not imagining it, some people are very good at manipulating others to think that though so it may be that.

Daisy sorry about the Ad's but batter to see if you can nip it in the bud now. Am sure your DH will understand but can see how hard it will be to tell him.

Merry no offence to anyone else on this thread but I reckon you have got the hardest job of all of us and you are doing great with it

Just tried tummy time again as I felt guilty about not doing it - Sam still hates it and was not impressed at all

No period here either - will be 9 weeks tomorrow and not bfing..is this normal?? With DS1 I was back on the pill at 6 weeks so obviously your periods are controlled then so I have no experience of just waiting for it to appear!

Ladies, I am one of these people who dislikes the phrase 'nursing' if you are just cuddling the baby - hence the OHT, not NAK (I think it is something to do with MIL using it all the time and everything she does irritates the hell out of me )

juanitad · 21/01/2009 14:48

Merry, it's 3 times a night here too.........waking up that is!! Daisy I think you're right though about not getting too hung up on sleeping through the night - babies need to feed when they need to feed and there's not much we can do about it. I've decided to take your advice on the dream feed and drop it - it did start to seem totally pointless waking him up when he was in such a deep sleep and then for him only to feed for 5 mins, if at all. So I'm just going to let him come up with his own nighttime routine. I'm still going to try and stick with a vague routine in the day - i.e. feeding him every hours, but naps are just going to have to happen when they happen, cos I can't seem to get him to sleep when I want him to sleep! Sorry to hear that you've been feeling down Daisy, hopefully a bit of retail therapy on Friday might help! By the way, I wanted to ask all the Trafford Centre ladies how they will be transporing their LOs around. I don't know whether to leave P in the car seat which clips onto the frame of the pram, or to bring the whole pram. he'd be more comfy in the pram but it is such a faff bringing the whole thing. What's everyone else doing? Looking forward to meeting you all on Fri, it's going to be a laugh and probably just what we all need!

Ceebee74 · 21/01/2009 14:51

Juanitad I think babies are only meant to be in the car seat for 2 hours max at a time so maybe the pram would be better? Sam will def be in his pram as he HATES being strapped into the car seat (probably the only time he ever screams!) and he looks all scrunched up and uncomfortable so I don't really blame him tbh

juanitad · 21/01/2009 14:52

ceebee - I don't like the phrase nursing either to mean cuddling the baby. My MIL always says it and it winds me up, totally irrationally!!

By the way, in my last post I meant to say I'm feeding him every 3 hours, not every hour!!!

londonboots · 21/01/2009 14:54

No sleeping through here...for the past few days M has slept from 6pm (he's still a bit jetlagged and can't stay awake until 7pm) until between 2 and 4am. Last night he went back down until 6, but a few times has woken again before 6. I wonder about waking him for the dream feed as well - maybe that would make him go through to 6-7am? Although i also found when I was waking him for the dream feed (the few times he didn't wake between 10 and 11) he wouldn't feed!

Rosa, M wears babygros every day! Over Christmas when we were out and about and seeing lots of people we did dress him in other clothes, but I figure when you're laying about all day they are pretty comfortable (which is why I wear track pants every day...ahhh...one of my favourite things about maternity leave!)

A question about skin care on the back of this long detailed post I put in 'allergies' - do you use moisturiser every day/other day? M is getting very dry skin which we are hoping is not eczema but what's your routine with bath products, shampooing, moisturising etc? Dozy I know you love the Burt's Bees stuff - do you use the Buttermilk lotion?

No rolling over here either - not even looking close! And we don't do tummy time either...M lasts about 10 seconds before crying.

Yorky hope you're ok and Daisy hope you feel better soon. xx

LadyBuzz · 21/01/2009 15:31

I've spent the whole of this morning in hospital .
I got my second period on Monday and started with really awful abdominal pain yesterday morning, called NHS direct who very helpfully suggested trapped wind . Was in agony all night so went to GP this morning who send me straight to hospital to see a lovely doctor who asked me if it was just period pain I've been scanned and tested and checked and there is nothing wrong that they can see but it still hurts like mad. Got lots of painkillers so I will just have to see.

Yorky hope you are feeling better soon and you too Daisy.

J isn't rollng but he is trying he loves tummy time most of the time. DS1 hated it so never really bothered and he didn't roll until he was 10 months - lazy sod when he started crawling. His head is fine too .

Juanitad I will have my pram too - my car seat is fixed so I have no choice and I have to sell it soon so am making the most of it while J still fits!

Furry hope you feel better and this aft is going OK for you.

MerryMarigold · 21/01/2009 15:55

Sorry to hear that ladybuzz. Hope it improves. At least the major things are ruled out.

of your meet up, oop north ladies.

londonboots, will reply on your thread...

ooh, having a laptop that dh cannot steal for work stuff is wickid!

LackaDAISYcal · 21/01/2009 16:03

sounds horrible ladybuzz. It's not endometriosis is it? Would they be able to tell if it was that from a scan? I hope it feels better soon.

I'll have the P&T with me on Friday. Is that right about two hours ceebee? what if you are on a long journey? Sometimes when I've driven up to Fife, DD slept all the way so was in her car seat for six hours

39 inches MerryM....I wish mine was that small . I have turned into an apple where I definately used to be a pear pre-children. On that note; there is a programme on this week about why thin people don't get fat which is showing that a lot of it has to do with genetics. Maybe I should stop fighting what is obviouslt my genetic identity

Bumble came in really handy earlier. there was a chap here sorting out our internet connetion and I let off the stinkiest of stinky farts...and blamed the baby

LackaDAISYcal · 21/01/2009 16:04

off to look at your thread now londonboots

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 21/01/2009 16:11

lol at you blaming the baby lacks
I don't think it is anything serious TBH and for that I am very very glad as I would like another child at some point in the future. yes I am mad but I do'nt know what a scan would show iykwim. I guess I will just have to keep an eye on it.

Ceebee74 · 21/01/2009 16:16

Ladybuzz glad that it seems to be nothing serous but 'ouch' for you - lol at trapped wind - you gotta love NHS Direct don't you?

Daisy at blaming Bumble - that is so funny! I think on the odd occasion (like long car journeys) it is ok for them to be in the car seat longer although they do recommend stopping every 2 hours for a 'stretch' - but if it can be avoided (i.e. you can use a pram instead) then it is better - something to do with the position they are in is not that good for them - being a bit vague here aren't I?

LackaDAISYcal · 21/01/2009 16:20

don't panic about lack of rolling as they aren't meant to manage to roll from back to front until about 6 months....rolling onto their side comes sooner but until they are grabbing their feet I don't think they have the muscle control to roll over.

have posted on your thread londonboots

I've read on here a lot LB that the first period after childbirth has been more painful than normal; maybe it's just that?

I hope so lacks Its my second though both have been very heavy (sorry tmi) compared to before so fingers crossed thats all it is.

PinkFurryStripeyTiger · 21/01/2009 17:59

Hope you feel better soon, LB.

How is Yorky? I hope you are ok, too.

Things ok here. She was being quite nice really, just a bit sarcastic. She must be in one of her 'good' moods. Friend called round when she was here and then DH came home so all ok.Phew. That's her done for a few weeks, hopefully! THere is just no telling what it will be like.

I must agree with the others, merry you are doing a fab job! And our house is quite a tip these days. I did actually dust the tv the other day- so we can now see the screen!

Obs you will be very pleased with me- I did my tax return yesterday!

monkey I will be interseted to know what you think of Slumdogmillionaire. I really enjoyed it though it is quite different to Q&A.

The cable man replaced our set top box earlier as it has been playing up and I was waiting for him to say "try dusting this one more often"

We live in a state of semi-organised chaos most of the time, with lots and lots of clutter.

LackaDAISYcal · 21/01/2009 18:37

and well done on getting through the afternoon without any conflict Pinky. Have a glass of wine now and relax

OP posts:
PinkFurryStripeyTiger · 21/01/2009 19:58

Hana I know what you mean. Friend I went with had been told it was the 'feelgood movie of the year' I warned her that if it was anything like the book it would contain a lot of brutality.

lacks wasn't it Quentin Crip who never dusted? I think he claimed it reached a certain point and never got any worse. Sadly our sitting room is south facing and all the dust and sticky finger prints/ window licking (why do toddlers do that) show up a a treat!

No conflict, but don't get too excited- she is just tesing the waters. Had I said no it would have been a different story. It's a sort of game with her, and it follows a pattern.

No wine for me- haven't eaten all day am considering a boi;ed egg- yay or nay?

coolkat · 21/01/2009 20:02

Lacks Hope your feeling a bit better and LOL at you blaming Bumble!

Sorry to hear about the nasty periods arriving, especially you Merry, your feeding 2!!

Becca 12 weeks and mine has not arrived yet, although I have felt premenstrual at times.

Wish I was near you meet up. Have a fab time on Friday.

Pinks hope your feeling better.

Becca not rolling at all, she has only jus found her hand and has been happy sucking on that for most of today! She is also dribbiling loads, Eww!

Well was V naughty on Monday, got some new boots from wallis to wear with my Skinny jeans and then came home and ordered some 'normal' boots from Next to wear with my bootcut jeans! Also had my hair cut and hilighted but like Hana she never cuts is quite short enough.

DH says I am looking a yummy mummy, I said he needs to go to spec savers! I think I am not going to lose anymore weight until I stop BF as I just snack and eat biscuits and sweets in the evening. As long as I don't put weight on I don't mind! Loving them Maoam chewy sweets

Still trying to do lots of walking when weather permits

ellielou02 · 21/01/2009 20:24

londonboots have also replied on your thread

hana sorry being nosy whats ap-leaning?

pink glad you day was ok

merry bet you cant wait for you hols
I am glad my house isnt the only one being neglected a bit cant seem to get anything done just now, I try and have things planned for when dh is away to make the month go a bit quicker, but dd2 being clingy just now dont know if its because daddy is away or what and to top it off she now has the cold.

ToAMountainDAISYcal · 21/01/2009 20:25

thanks guys, I've talked to DH and feel a LOT better about things.

I'm going to try and get my hair done on Saturday (and hang the expense ) and will definately be exercising my spending muscle on Friday as I'm looking for a nice skirt to wear with my new boots.

Pinky, how about a nice omelette? you gotta eat or you'll not have the strength to deal with things. I always cope a lot worse with things if my blood sugar is low.

this is my burn's night name by the way
