LOL at our loft it is starting to resemble a toy shop!!

It also has a toy kitchen from the Entertainer for DD next yr which was reduced to £20!!

On injection front think I will be honest with him then and go to toy/sweet shop afterwards

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 29/12/2008 22:19

Simps when I was little I always had a lolly after my injections

I'm having a bad day today and I know I shouldn't blame DD cos she's ill but by god she knows how to wind me up. He is ill - her chest sounds like that of a 40 a day for 60 years smoker, she doesn't want to be let go off - even for bed. I think i'm gonna have to sleep with her tonight which means no sleep for me.

Thanks for the congrats Lily & Nicky.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 29/12/2008 22:22

Lucky - Poor you and poor Aaliyah

I had not of lollys he loves them so maybe that will work...

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 29/12/2008 22:23

I ALWAYS had a lolly - still do from DP

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 29/12/2008 22:25

Thought od loolys - I meant

He loves them. He is not a chocolate fan but lollys is a different kettle of fish!!

AIBU to book injection for when DH is off work so he can take him? He is so much better at that than I am!!

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 29/12/2008 22:26

I wouldn't say you were unreasonable BUT beware that DS doesn't take it as your scared.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 29/12/2008 22:33

Mmmm I will think on it then [pensive emoticon]

TBH its not that I'm scared I just get a bit tearful during injections because my baby is being hurt iyswim

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 29/12/2008 22:35

Yeh totally - When I go to DD's injections I have to turn away 1 - hate needles and 2 its horrid hearing her yell.

madmouse · 29/12/2008 22:43

hey simpson, he will have forgotten it really soon, it never hurts for long

I think it is best to be quite matter of fact about it: this is what will happen, it will sting badly for a few seconds and then it is over and your body will be a little bit stronger.

Guess I am a bit overly tough with this, as I have been hurting my ds daily from when he was a few months old telling him it is for his own good . The way he goes off when I do his stretches it is a miracle no one has yet rang social services

Just popping non to say happy birthday to all the little ones.... hope this last year has been kind to you all.

Missing all the chatting, but in between work, nursery, cleaning, cooking etc just dont seem to have time.

Hope the next year of waddling toddlers is fun for everyone.

Big kisses.

Mixedmama and the two little ones.

LaTurkey · 30/12/2008 12:03

Hi all, especially mixedmama!

Still feeling proper catch-ups a bit beyond me .

We're doing fine here. It looks like brother will be out of hospital on New Year's Eve. He's had a psych assessment and is still going to be treated as an outpatient but will ge tmore support. I don't have much faith, but I don't really have any say.

Which means he'll be here for Sabela's birthday . Not much fun. We'll make the most of it though. May go to soft play if it is open. Or to visit my friend who had a baby boy yesterday .

I decided while DH is away - with bro - to try and cut out the 4.30 wake up by refusing a feed. She cried in my arms for abotu 45 minutes and then settled until 7.30 x100. A normal time to get up! Yay!

Anyone else's LOs seriously into the Teletubbies? DH got Sabela into them and they'ye becoem part of our morning routine. She waves at them all the time and today she had to keep going to the screen to kiss them. A little tellyaddict in the making? I hope not.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 30/12/2008 12:19

Mixed mama - good to "see" you again

LaT - ((hugs)) to you hun. Good girl Sabela at night time Molly is very into In The Night Garden (unfortunately as I find it very irritating) she goes absolutely mad when Iggle Piggle comes on the screen!!

DH back at work today. His next shift is going to be a real test for him working 8 days in a row as he has got some O/T. Hope he can cope....

When we were out doing a food shop yesterday we bumped into one of his work colleagues from his other job that he has just stepped down from and this guy was saying they have given the people at Dh's (old) level even more responsibility so thank God he got out when he did!!

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 30/12/2008 14:01

Just a quick post before i go out....

Molly managed to crawl a few steps She was like a new born foal and all shaky iykwim.

Then she had a temper tantrum as she wanted to go further but couldn't do it!! So she is getting there

Gingemejinglybells · 30/12/2008 15:01

Welcome back mixedmamma
Had a terrible night with George. I think he has a tummy bug of some sort. Two dirty nappies trhough the night which never happens but he also had 2 7 oz bottles which he guzzled down but not eating much in the day. Could be teeth I guess. He woke at 6am which didn't help either
Apart from that all is well here. My parents popped in on the way to their friends. The big boys went to our local retail park to spend their Christmas money.
Trying to teach my 4 year old how to play Guess Who! A little frustrating to say he least.
Ahwell thats about it from me for now. My 14 year old just made me a cuppa so its time to get the Roses out me thinks

nicky6 · 30/12/2008 19:25

all well here no teeth no crawling but very happy little girl - she really is a dream, ate a massive bowl of turkey stew - cooked by dh west indian style so little spicy but wolfed down bless her.

also put together her wooden trolley with wood bricks which she seems to really like so lots of fun here today.

We are not going out new year as have not asked anyone to babysit although a couple of partie with bring baby along but dont fancy as after holiday and 2 x gastric bug its only been the last 2 weeks that we have had her back to normal sleeping 7-7 so dont want to upset that. particulalry as being pregnant the getting up in the night is harder.

but we are going to a party new years night so that will make up for it really. Dh went out today and came back with flowers and a few party poppers for tomorrow night bless him.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 30/12/2008 20:38

No teeth here either

Well DD is definately trying to get as much crawling practice as she can!!

I bathed both Dcs together this evening and got DD out first and in PJs etc while DS still splashing around and she kept trying to crawl back to bath to be with DS, bless her

She still can't go very far yet and after a few creeps (is that the right word ) gets her legs a bit tangled

JustKeepSingingCarols · 30/12/2008 20:50

Helloooo all

Been mega busy and not had a chance to even get on my laptop as everyone else using it!

my parents, brother, sister, her dh + 2girls all arrived xmas eve.
we had fun making reindeer food and putting it out with some water bowls for them.
and trying to explain the whole stocking thing.
we slept on an airbed in with the boys which deflated on (under) us so we both slept terribly.
(changed to some spare duvets under us after that which was fine)
ds1 woke at 6 so we opened his stocking with him while ds2 slept on for half an hour.
tbh, ds1 would have been more than happy with just his stocking
the 20 pennies were a serious hit!
and a chocolate reindeer before breakfast - never going to go wrong with that...
ds2 woke so we did his stocking too then came down and waited for everyone else....
lots of excitement at looking out at the tipped over bowls and lack of reindeer food
and more at the big pile of presents!
lots of wrapping paper later...
all in all a great Christmas
knackering though.
just have my parents left, think they will go tomorrow and we will go to bed vvvvvv early!
no other plans for NYE.

my mum got upset with mil - though no rowing or anything, she just went to bed early one night.
i had to grit my teeth occasionally with mil too - she can be a bit much.
my sis brought over some trousers she is too skinny for but 'thought would fit me'
made months of feeling good about my weight loss efforts disappear into nothing and back to feeling fat
but trying not to take it too personally.
esp as one pair are too tight...
have really let myself eat/drink whatever since Christmas Eve, think i have gained 3 or 4lbs so not too bad.
will be back to strict again soon and have cut out a bf, so now only feeding morning and bedtime so not long till i stop completely which should help shift a few more pounds...

ds2 making lots more word-like sounds, not sure if i can say what his first word is but may settle for 'dat' (cat).

right, waffled long enough, will try and get on more now that life is returning to more normal.....

happy birthdays & anniversaries

madmouse · 30/12/2008 20:56

Hi all

Good to see everyone back

Simpson a big fat YES GO MOLLY!

Nathan has also crawled a few steps with the help of his physio, he even moved his right hand a bit. His Occupational Therapist was also here and she has discharged him as she feels he does not need her and will be fine.

Can't imagine the difference in him by the way. Last night he slept 8.15 to 1.30, quick feed, then brief wake at 4, just needed a pat and tucking in a bit tighter, then put himself back to sleep until 8 , as a result he is very chirpy and eating lots more too

Can't believe the difference in a week

LaT glad you are cracking the early waking, especially now you are alone atm. Holding him does not for me and Nathan. He will rub his cheek sore on my chest trying to get to the milk . Today I have only fed him at 8 am and 2pm. Am weaning him in the next few weeks and he has actually gobbled down a few ounces of cowsmilk today

Hi all

JKS - sounds like a FAB Christmas. Well done you. You deserve a rest.

Simpson - Go Molly! Go Molly!

MM - Well it was just one night. Sabela does a fantastic amount of shirt pulling, nuzzling etc but she prefers it to being away. She ended up finding SOMETHING to put over her head to help her fall asleep. At first it was the pillow so I got her book for her (you know the one ) and she looked at me as if I were crazy. That is obviously just for the cot. She ended up withthe sleeve of my pyjama which meant I had to keep my arm in that position for 90 minutes!

Nicky - Sabela's got one of those and she loves it. No movement her either, though she's beginning to pull a bit.

Gingeme - you have a nice teenager! Well done you! Hope you get a good night tonight.

I think I might be in for a shocker. I can hear her waking every 45 minutes or so though no crying yet. Tooth 6 on the way!

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 30/12/2008 21:23

LOL JKS - DD says "dat" for everything Any toy you give her to hold is a dat!!

Madmouse - Great news on Nathan being discharged from physio Shows he is coming on leaps and bounds!!

LaT - your arm must have been killing you after staying still for that long

madmouse · 30/12/2008 21:26

LaT pmsl at Sabela needing something on her head but the book being just for the cot. How about muslins?

OP posts:
madmouse · 30/12/2008 21:27

simpson not from physio, not for a few years yet. Just the OT who helps with seating, bathing etc and can provide special implements if needed.

OP posts:
simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 30/12/2008 21:37

Madmouse - Doh!! [stupid emoticon] Still good news though!!

How often does he have physio?

madmouse · 30/12/2008 21:40

the physio comes once a week and then dh and I work with Nathan every day. Help him sit, teach him how to sit up, help him come up on all fours, help him crawl, stimulate his right arm, do his stretches...
