VG how absolutely horrid. bastards!!
dizzy argh - we've just got a new (to us -- newer than we've EVER had - 3 yrs old) car and if anyone did that i'd sob i think.

Well, if anyone's seen my fb status you'll know we're a lurgied house. I felt very funny all day yesterday - went to bed at half 6, threw up at 7 and at 10 and another time but i forget when. Ds was up to his newly normal waking/feeding/fecking about shenanigans in the night - 3 wake ups - no idea when they were, then dd started being sick, and by morning dh was too. Ds is the only one ok so far. I think we're all on the mend but it's so hard being ill when you've got a baby isn't it? Had to call my mum to come and help cos we ended up having to leave ds to cry himself to sleep for his nap cos we were both too weak to lift him.... felt awful about it. We need to sort his sleep out eventually so he can settle himself and to deal with these night wake ups but am doing nothing until a) we're better, b) he's weaned......

Hoping we come out the other side in one piece...

CaptainCaveman · 03/01/2009 18:57

VG at heartless thiefs. It's so bloody senseless and infuriatingly maddening

dizzy for your car too but praising God your friend is ok after the fire, how scary

Today has seemed like a loooooong day. On the plus side, I managed to use my sewing machine to take up a pair of ds's school trousers and they don't look too bad . Considering I am still scarred from my 3rd yr junior teacher refusing me scissors because 'I couldn't cut straight', I am rightly proud of myself

CaptainCaveman · 03/01/2009 18:58

albs praying you all feel much better soon, how horrid for you. I agree, being poorly and trying to look after a lo is bloody awful!

OH vg - for you and for DS1. How awful.

dizzy - 3 things now, so the rest of 2009 will be GREAT!

ts I am in awe. No other words. Simply in awe!

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 03/01/2009 19:49

vg horrible news re the break-in, hope you are recovering. Poor ds - punch and kick is what these people deserve

cyteen I too am wondering if I should be doing something about ds's sleep - when the midwives/hv say 'feed on demand' does that go on forever even if it means getting up 3 times a night? What if ds does nt fall into a longer sleep pattern? Went to bed early last night and thank god I did cos after he woke at 11 for the usual dream feed, he woke at 1.30am and 4am and 5am. By 5 I'd had enough and tried just shushing him and it worked after 10 mins (first time I've tried that). Thought we were getting somewhere as the previous 3 nights were only one wake up - are we back to square one?

Went out for late birthday treat today - fish finger sandwiches at Borough Market and we popped into the Rothko exhibition at Tate Modern - dp deeply unimpressed, in fact called the art a p*take.

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 03/01/2009 19:50

ts i thought you meant 5.15 GMT i too am impressed at your committment

I'll second that ataraxis 2009 WILL be great

hmm yes vg what to do? Looked at that thread ' is sleeping through a con?' and it seems ff is no answer, nor even solids - i asked about sleep training and was advised not to start that til 6 months although some ladies had done it at 4 months - it sounds horrendous though, requiring nerves of steel. I just keep thinking things will improve...

oopsacoconut · 03/01/2009 20:29

Hi All

Sorry to hear about vandals, breakins, fire and non sleepers.

VG Sleep book in the post to you yesterday. Sorry it took so long I can't seem to get motivated with DH home.

I went our BY MYSELF today for a whole 2 hours admitedly I phoned DH 7 times - he took DD for a walk to the inlaws and when I go there they were watching Roadrunner on a 50 odd inch telly screen! Cake is marzipanned, icing ribbon made, icing coloured and now just need to finish it.

DH has agreed that now that my period has been we can just go for it and if it happens it happens - we have been told by fertility guy if it hasn't happened in 6 months then they will sort out medications again. Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

So Dizzy - not only are you a FBG, you are a FPG and a FSG (fecking Shopping Genius) - I am in awe

TwilightSurfer · 03/01/2009 20:33

sleep is such a natural instinct and as we each know there's no two in nature that are alike. my dd1 left me crying for many many nights. she just was not a good sleeper. even now her sleep pattern is more like a type-a adult work-aholic. she doesn't want to sleep for fear of missing something. once she falls asleep she either wakes as mad as a hornet or ready to build the next bridge across the atlantic....full speed ahead. reese on the flip side will settle and fall asleep on her own. she naps regularly without prompting. she wakes chatting and in a good mood. both children came from my womb. both children have the same father. they could not be more different though. i think it's just our job to figure it all out and find a way to make all the differences work. shall i offer this square peg for that round hole?

as for the 5:15am thing...i am only considering it so please no praise yet. i do feel quite positive about the idea and i of the school of thought that it can't hurt to try.

2009 is proving to be arriving like a lion for many. i'm sure you all heard about our most well know actor, john travolta, lost his 16 year old son yesterday. death, fire, buglary, vandalism.....the list just keeps growing.

TwilightSurfer · 03/01/2009 20:35

congratulations on the green light oops. keep us posted.

Bucky2008 · 03/01/2009 20:41

Sorry to totally crash your thread but I just saw Twilight post and wanted to say hi. I don't know if you remember me Twilight but we were in the waiting room what seems like years ago now . I still bleedin' in there!!!! . Anyway, just wanted to wave and say glad to see you still around and hope all is well. Happy New Year!!

TwilightSurfer · 03/01/2009 20:52

Bucky you crash anytime you like.

alittlebitshy · 03/01/2009 20:57

btw - had any of you heard of matt smith before tonight's Dr who announcement? I realise now I've sene him in stuff but couldn;t have named him...

feeling less sick - none of us have been sick for quite a few hours but my throat HURTS - one side feels very swollen. Am about to take a cup of peppermint tea off to bed to await the first of many wake ups from ds. ARGH - and i thought I had another good sleepr. FPG I ain't

TwilightSurfer · 03/01/2009 20:59

{{{{{HUGS}}}}}ALBS

TwilightSurfer · 03/01/2009 21:00

laptop about to crash
see ya'll later.................

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 21:10

ALBS - can I send you some virtual flat lemonade, dry toast and eventual chicken soup - being unwell is hard enough without worrying about the wee man too - glad your mum could help you out

our car is 4yrs old but whoever had it before us kept it in very nice condition and now it has a miserable big scratch up the side of it [gits]

have not idea who Matt Smith is at all and although am not a particular Dr Who fan I do like David Tennant and am not sure shall warm to Matt

VG I have come to a decision. Am going to come over and bring DH with me, in his uniform. He looks like a polis, well how I remember police officers used to look when I was wee - tall, big, dark and imposing (now they've dropped the height restrictions you get loads of wee polis that just don't look right iyswim!?!) and he shall have a lovely reassuring chat with DS1. still fuming on your behalf

TS its awful news about John Travolta I don't know much about him but understand he and Kelly had a long and strong (for Hollywood couples) marriage. the loss of a child is a horrific thing and in the great scheme of things is just cruel. wherever they are I hope they're getting the support and comfort them need from those about them

all 3 in bed here, not sure for how long though tried Dylan with some mashed banana and needless to say it was NOT well received at all am kind of aghast as bananas are a staple in this house with banana on toast being considered a treat

for those of you weaning already can I just ask please

Dylan been on one meal of baby porridge mixed with breast milk at lunchtime (ish) for a week now. I think I remember its after a week you introduce something else at another time during the day? I could be wrong (has been known!)

god, you'd think by round 3 I'd know something about this wouldn't you

oops lovely news, we expect you not to be posting as much seeing as you're 'busy' shall send you positive baby thoughts (as long as you don't think there is something too weird about that!!)

poppy lovely to have you 'home' will meet up very soon, shall have a look at days/shifts etc and give you a text

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 21:12

sazz apple fleece, moo cow towel thingy and something else - god thats awful, I can't even remember

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 21:13

oh - a bigger hooded towel for DD2, I never get DD2 anything she gets DD1's hand -me-downs and then they get binned once she's ruined used them and Dylan gets new again - I love my kids in hooded towels and thought it looked like a nice one

poppysocks · 03/01/2009 21:16

Oh God VG that is just shit. We were burgled on Christmas Eve when I was your DD1's age. All Christmas presents gone, TV, computer etc. It was also the first Christmas after my parents had split too. No useful words to offer except sympathy and hope that your DD1 feels back to his normal self soon.

And Dizzy at your car! Twat. Why do people do these things??? . Thank goodness your friends are ok though.

for all ALBSes. Hope you feel better soon.

Yippee for your news though Oops. Lovely to have some good news.

And TS... you are bonkers...even to be considering a class at that time!

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 21:19

poppy!! x posts! how does Wed suit you? any use or is that when DD1 in nursery, am sorry I can't remember
