why are people so cruel???
vg I am so and for you.
dizzy also for you too.

Ds is off crying, cant leave him any longer, has took ages to catch up, sort of glad I was absent last night, as my punctuation/grammer etc... is dreadful. I don't care though, I just concentrate on getting my point across iykwim. OOOH I think he is settling.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 03/01/2009 21:23

or not

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 21:25

oh good luck No1 - I had to go up to Dylan last night for first time in ages so am hoping it was a blip

poppysocks · 03/01/2009 21:29

Hi Dizzy! Wednesday sounds great. Need to be here at 2 though, but free either side all day. How does that fit in with you?

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 21:38

no problem, DH on nights so can collect DD1 from school at 3pm if you choose after 2 but either suits me fine

should really make out I have a terrible busy and hectic social life shouldn't I?!?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 03/01/2009 21:45

He was hungry fast asleep again.
Dh on nights so hoping they both sleep well tonight.
He gets very as dd doesnt usually wake when he on nights
He just text me to say he has booked tomorow night off, he already had last night off.
I am sure he is sleep deprived workshy.

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 21:47

lol No1, my DH has just told me he's managed to get a late start tomorrow as they'd changed his shifts about and he was going to miss out on our arrangements for the day!

funny how they can get time off when it suits them isn't it

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 03/01/2009 21:51

Yes it is when it suits.
I will be going out for tea for dnephew(10th) Bday on Monday, bet dh wont be able to make that

dizzy could do with some ideas.
DD is 2 on 8th Feb, DS christening is on 15th Feb.
I want dd to have a little party, dh says not every year.I could do it at home like her 1st, or at a venue.
Christening also venue or home??
Have considered Joint but not sure
what do you think

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 21:58

okey dokey - as resident thread party consultant here is what I suggest

have a tea party/picnic on the floor for DD's birthday - she is only going to be 2, there is plenty of time for 'parties' and as long as you, DH and her favourite toy are there making a fuss of it she will be delighted

I think at that age she would be rather overwhelmed by something busy or organised and will love just being in charge and getting to do what she wishes

you shall, of course, need cake, candles and presents and if grandparents need to drop in to make a fuss then all the better but I don't think you need to do much more than that to make it special

DS christening - if you CAN do it at a venue this will save you all the frantic cleaning/DIY/decorating/tiying you will decide that absolutely MUST be done if it is at home. Do you have somewhere in mind that will let you have it there? I think you should make sure that DD is involved in the christening ceremony of her baby and make sure she's got a special dress etc but I wouldn't bother with it being joint - although mentioning to relatives that it is her birthday the week before may allow for some of them to make an extra fuss of her and bring a present too

just my thoughts on the matter - I think with a husband that works shifts and two such young DC you need to be going down the route of less stress all round

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 03/01/2009 22:03

Thank you and I was thinking less hassle the better.
Dh suggested clearing conservatory and having little tea party in there. Nothing to hurt with little ones running around.

I just need to sort out venue for christeing, but struggling tbh.
Thought about finding somewhere and getting the catering done.
I had planned getting dd a dress too (dont know what or where from yet) hint hint for your shopping expertize

Also need bday and christenig cake.

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 22:05

ebay!!! loads of stuff on ebay just now as everying auctioning off their Christmas gear lol

birthday cake - tesco do a lovely Peppa Pig one, job done!

Christening cake depends on what you're wanting for how many?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 03/01/2009 22:10

Christening cake for about 50. Paid around £60 last year for dds

Bday cake I am afraid its Upsy Daisy or Iggle Piggle here although she is getting into Peppa Pig.

We are looking for some kind of outdoor thing for her bday (slide/swing etc...)

poppysocks · 03/01/2009 22:11

Dizzy - Is DD2 at nursery in the morning? If not, how about meeting up am? If not, I should be able to get away from here by 2.15. What's best for you?

My sympathies No1 with the party planning. I too have a birthday party and christening do to sort out. . Dizzy's advice is good though, as always. Simple works. And make sure that whoever's taking photos knows what to catch to make it look more elaborate than it is. That's my plan anyway!

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 22:13

pretty red dress here

are you considering the cake yourself? £60 isn't too bad depending on what you got for it as one cake to feed 50 has to be a big cake

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 03/01/2009 22:15

lol poppy I like that idea.

dh is now not keen on ds wearing the gown dd wore. He says why cant he just wear a normal outfit. Of course he could, but I dont want that.

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 22:17

poppy morning is fine for me, DD2 is only in nursery if and when I choose and I haven't anything arranged so no problems shall get us up and out and let him sleep

poppysocks · 03/01/2009 22:20

Sounds like a plan Dizzy. What do you fancy doing? The usual? Was going to suggest a ramble on the beach but a bit parky I suspect...!

oopsacoconut · 03/01/2009 22:21

No1 - Monsoon has some amazing stuff in the sale - We bought DD a dress for the In laws weddingythingy and it was £15 down from £45 they had loads of sizes and variety, we also got a little cardie for £10 down from £24. So she really got 3 dresses, 2 cardies and a coat . My excuse was she needed a dress for weddingythingie and dress for her Baptism as she can't wear her gown all day and a party dress for when she turns 1!

We are taking the easy way out for post baptism do - local hotel is doing finger buffet for us, bring our own pretend champers and then cheekily a public bar!

DH has just told me that the 'family' are coming here post weddingythingy for teas and coffees and cakey things. Have just spoken to the people who are making the icing photo for the cake and they are going to throw me in 48 cupcake toppers for £4 - I must have sounded desperate! So fruit wedding cake, 48 cupcakes, tiffin and flapjacks for 30 people, who are infact only coming back here to scope out the new house!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 03/01/2009 22:22

ooh that dress is gorgeous.
Do you mean am I making it myself???
I wish after my attempt of those muffins I dare not risk it (they tasted yummy but didnt really rise that much)

If I was pointed in the right direction regarding, ingredients (exactly)
baking equipment (trays) then I would love to make one myself.

Or maybe bday cake first, if successful then maybe christening

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 22:22

I think the usual for the moment as Dylan still a touch croupy not affecting her much but I don't want to push my luck.

I would suggest a lovely grown up coffee etc in Harbour House but I shall be bringing DD2 and don't wish to get banned!!!

oopsacoconut · 03/01/2009 22:25

No1 - you could always just buy a big ready iced sponge or fruit cake from M&S and buy a ready made Christening topper from a local sugarcraft shop. small dab of buttercream on cake press down topper and hey presto!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 03/01/2009 22:27

sorry x post oops I forgot about Monsoon. Love their stuff. Will go shopping tomorow I think while dh sleeps.
Finger buffet sounds nice. Also nice of them to throw in the cupcakes too.

oopsacoconut · 03/01/2009 22:30

I am thinking of these for DD's cake I will make and basicallyice the cake then 'cheat' with these.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 03/01/2009 22:30

sorry x post again thats a splendid idea. I think I might just do exactly that. Thank you

dizzydixies · 03/01/2009 22:31

or stick fresh flowers on it
