very impressed by all this crawling activity...Joe is currently working hard on sitting up and getting stronger every day have also had to splash out on some 6-18month grobags as he's bursting out of the 0-6 ones

need to get him a cot soon...and a highchair...

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/01/2009 11:59

cyteen I felt really bad when rolling was mentioned as I realized that poor Ds never has much opportunity to lay flat under play gym due to ds trashing it.
So I made more effort to put him on his back on the floor and he rolled over straight away.
Only done it twice though.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 01/01/2009 12:38

Wow - lots of crawling, sitting and teeth cutting whilst we are firmly in the lazy baby corner here. Don't know who she takes after . Emma's energies are all centred on eating every 2 hrs during the day for the last 2 weeks. when will this growth spurt end?

I have posted some more pics on FB if anyone interested in seeing Emma stirring an Xmas pud - the cooking training is going on early in this house

Off to the zoo shortly but i'm fully expecting to freeze my bit off....

Happy New Year to you all!
Glad to hear some babies were kind and didn't wake up too much. We're all knackered here, although DS only woke twice bless him. DD woke at 12.30am thanks to the twats idiots next door who were playing hideous europop at full blast. She wouldn't go back to bed by herself so slept all night with us. Obviously when I say slept I mean wriggled, elbowed, fidgeted and cover hogged half the night. Plus I ended up banging on the wall at 1.30am to try and get them to shut up, have now got bruised knuckles too . Never thought I would become the kind of person who banged on walls, especially on New Years Eve, but they were just taking the piss. All quiet today though, hope they've got massive hangovers

Hope cosleeping went OK No1, they seem to be comforted by it don't they.

Hope you're not too frozen Sazzles, very dedicated parenting to be braving the outside world for a trip to the zoo . We're having a lazy afternoon watching movies

Where is Alieight and her ring?

alittlebitshy · 01/01/2009 14:49

Back to my old name cos I kepe getting confised in my Christmas disguise.
Am {shock} about the babies on the move - ds rolled over on Tues - for my mum, twice but not since. he's one of the oldest on here isn't he? (but prob one of the chunkiest bless him)

sazz hope the zoo is good..... I've not bene since we had ds. dh and dd have poss been once or twice...

TwilightSurfer · 01/01/2009 14:59

YUMMMMM
My zucchini & tomato frittata was soooooo good and dh made belgium waffles.

THIS IS A PERFECT WAY
to START the NEW YEAR!!!!

Reese got tired of waiting on all the cooking and managed to HOLD HER OWN bottle while we busied around in the kitchen.

She's still a bit fussy. Her gums on the lower right side of her mouth look ouchy. I've been putting baby orajel (benzocaine) on the spot. SHE HATES it then is like OOOOHHHHH YEEEAHHHH AAAHHHHHHHH.

Sazzles those were some amazing photographs. I had to stop posting comments or you would have had comments on EVERY photo. Your girls are so beautiful. And I quite like your upside down house...the kitchen has such character.

Poor Rotters and the loud neighbors. I'm quite a different person now as well. At dusk I scampered down to the grocery store only to have a DRUNK in line behind me. His ODOR met me before he did. He was in line buying a case of beer. I almost told him he was saturated but thought he might find that rude.

No1 {{{{HUGS}}}}

DH and I are now studying fitness plans.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

TwilightSurfer · 01/01/2009 17:24

Did everyone read about the lady who gave birth on the plane last night? Here it is. For some reason I shed a tear when reading about the kindness of strangers on board the flight.

oopsacoconut · 01/01/2009 17:52

Happy new year All

DH took DD for a bit this afternoon so I could have a nap. I woke up to him saying 'Jesus H Christ' DD you stink of wee! Then he investigated further and repeated the same phrase with 'oh no it's crap' I giggled to myself and hid under the duvet! Then he said 'I think this
may be wrong' so I went in and DD was lying on her front, bottom in the air, with DH ding the velcro up around the back with the booster flap sticking up her front. I just strolled past and said, the velcro at the front booster on the indside and left him to it. 10 minutes later they came down and she was dressed, waterproofs on properly and both were smiling. He has just told me he heard me laughing .

back later DD needsa nap!

sambo303mincepiesconsumed · 01/01/2009 17:52

Happy New Year one and all, hope all had lovely relaxing days with families. We had a bonfire to celebrate the new year. DP is warming leftovers for tea, not quite in your league ts

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 01/01/2009 18:08

LOL my MIL used to do hilarious and seemingly impossible things to DD's nappies - I kept telling her if it seems too difficult you're doing it wrong! Used to get them inside out, back to front, any which way but right.

My tummy bug turned out to be just overindulgence thank goodness but I do have a cold on the way so the rest is always useful. Kurt's bump seems to have done him no harm too.

Ataraxis, I too have been amazed at how much love our August baby has brought. If there was a fly on the wall documentary in our house the voyeurs would just puke. Was never any need to worry about not having enough to go round was there?

CC good luck with the viewing.

Bristol meetup - who's coming? I've forgotten

Right ladies, tell me about cheap plastic highchairs with detachable trays and straps for easy washing please. High-sided tray so it can be soaked. I've had the fancy shmancy wooden one and it's just a nightmare to clean.

oopsacoconut · 01/01/2009 18:20

Buckets - apparently Ikea do one that can be put in the dishwasher - I think it's called an antilop???

PetitFilou1 · 01/01/2009 19:15

TS
Just read your link and have to do a at the 'people offered baby food' bit - surely that should be 'stupid people offered baby food'

My aunt and uncle once delivered prem twins on a plane alongside two other paediatric docs from Great Ormond Street. They would not have survived if they hadn't been there. An amazing thing to have done but not something you'd want to repeat in a hurry!

PetitFilou1 · 01/01/2009 19:19

sazzles Tobes is a lazy baby too but he has quite a strong neck. No sign of rolling, sitting or crawling yet (thankfully) It is going to be a nightmare when he gets on the move as he is a nosy parker. Although he is not (ahem) very physical he has been described as unusually alert and vocal for his age so I guess that is his thing rather than the moving about stuff.

Hope everyone is ok. I've had a crappy day, ds1 being foul and needs to go back to school. dh doing a 24 hour on call today. Toby seems to be getting slowly back into his routine (fingers crossed) we were down to two wake ups last night. I have a sneaking suspicion he is hungry though (please don't let me have to wean yet emoticon)

Waves back to sazzles

Yes I'll be there on 13th (slightly nervous though!) We also need a highchair for Toby. I'll have to be back to do the school pick up (I think) but will be there for a couple of hours at least

TwilightSurfer · 01/01/2009 20:26

Well since I FF from day one the food offered just seemed normal since surely one of the baby-mama's on board at some liquid formula with them.

I too think an easy to manage highchair is in our future OR a booster type like this. I'm leaning towards the booster which will work wonderfully while traveling in a few months.

Have completed HALF of my new AWESOME MOMMA daily good deed. DD1 and I made this fancy crazy dough. The plan is to make bread turtles. The dough is rising now and I can say honestly there's NOTHING on the tray that looks like a turtle.

Sazzles this mornings breakfast frittata is FOR SURE to be on our beach food list. I was completely surprised at how easy it was to make and then how great it tasted.

OH and a funny story...My oven flamed up during my breakfast culinary experience. Seems I need to clean the ceiling of my oven. I've never used the broiler on this 30 year old piece of junk until today. I ended up browning the top of the frittata by turning the broiler on and off over a 15 minute time so it wouldn't flame.

So is anyone else ready for school to be BACK IN SESSION? I just demanded DD1 put on her warm clothes and GO OUTSIDE.

oopsacoconut · 01/01/2009 20:48

Sazzles DD is in the pudding club too - there is absolutely no interest in rolling over but she does sit with very little propping, as for crawling she would love to but the legs are willing but the body is unable! Tonight when I was cooking the dinner (mmm roast) I gave her the bag of green beans to wrinkle the wrapping which she loves and they are too heavy to lift the package into her mouth, when I turned around to get a spoon she managed to liberate a bean and was madly chewing on it - it amused her for 45 whole minutes! she didn't actually eat any of it just sucked and mouthed it. We spent all this money one toys at christmas when a green bean would have done!

This week is going to be manic - I need to make an cake for in laws wedding vow renewal, DD has swimming, house needs to be spotless for the gaggles of nosey aunts coming to visit for the first time, I need to buy DD a dress for Wednesday and find something for me to wear. I tried on a coat today and found a stunning one but it wouldn't do up over my fabulous norks I had to try on a size 20 to get the buttons to do up then the rest of the coat looked like a sock of spuds I will never find any clothes that fit and look good at this rate!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/01/2009 20:50

oops LOL at nappy fastening. My dh hasnt done one yet. He said he was fine about the reusables as long as he didnt have to faff with them. He is moaning about the nursery constantly smelling of piss nappies though.
Must get some Lavendar.

I am coming to Bristol too, although keep getting ear bashings about 6 hour drive (both ways) being too far just for couple of hours, any chance you have any idea how long your hanging around??

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/01/2009 20:53

x post oops lol at the bean chewing.
I never find clothes that fit properly either. Mainly trousers always an in between size, so tight on hips baggy on waist or perfect on hips to tight on waist

I have all my weight watchers stuff out contemplating it again.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/01/2009 20:57

pf why are you nervous?? because we are strangers.
It was breifly mentioned at my mums on xmas day, that I would be meeting up with a load of strangers off the internet
She looked up from stirring the gravy and said 'oh no your bloody not'
lol I walked away and pretended I didnt here her, while my sister consideratley changed the subjet.

longwayfromhome · 01/01/2009 21:12

yup, we are coming to bristol - taking the opportunity to catch up with some other friends too, so making a couple of days for the trip, and around most of Tues. Is anyone else bringing their dh?

did I ever mention that at the beginning when breast feeding wasn't going well he came to a liga de leche meeting with me? (about 12 mothers and babies and him!) I cried through the meeting but afterwards he told me that he thought that it had been very useful and informative. My DH gets lots of good H points I think.

no1 No I'm not nervous that you are a bunch of strangers (I don't think of you all like that at all funnily enough!) I'm nervous that I'll have travelled all that way and no one else will be there!

lwfh No, certainly not bringing my dh - I think he'd rather stick pins in his eyes

However, my mother also said 'how do you know they are who they say they are' blah blah blah I'd said I'd seen all your photos on facebook!

TS Did not realise that was what was meant by babyfood in the article - meant mush in a jar to me!
