Also dd has started waking during the night regularly and i ind it tiring sitting with her while she settles sometimes. bit mean maybe, but hey ho i am sure it will all be ok in the end, they grow so quick.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 31/12/2008 13:17

ts poor reese hope she is feeling better soon.
I have just been to chemist to get something to help dd at night sleep with her sniffles, but the lady knew me and as dd not 2 till Feb, she wouldnt sell me any

CaptainCaveman · 31/12/2008 16:41

Hello gang, we are back from Market Rasen where we had a jolly lovely time catching up with friends and drinking wine and laughing, a lot.

TS hope Reese is soon feeling better.

happy birthday sambo hope it carries on being a fab year too

Ds2 is in a routine but takes ruddy ages to settle - my lassez faire (sp?) approach has taught him to settle only with company...eg me. Rod, back etc....However, I ended up doing this with ds1 too and somehow he has ended up as a child who goes off to bed no probs. Am usually downstairs sniffing after wine by 8.30 .

Oliver trying to escape from his bumbo atm....whilst ds1 is getting annoyed with his ds lite game . My answer is to ignore them and look at mn instead!

AnnVan · 31/12/2008 18:07

Hi all. Haven't caught up on the thread.
Am in Scotland with family Am blardy ill again though.
Seb is still ill, and is losing weightsleeping all gone to hell, so not getting much rest.
hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 31/12/2008 18:16

To everyone HAPPY NEW YEAR and hopeing we will continue on our journeys together for the next year.

Ann- Hope you all feeling better soon and you have some help with Seb to let you get a bit of sleep.

Happy Birthday SAMBO.

CaptainCaveman · 31/12/2008 18:34

Aww, Oliver has just been giggling his head off at ds1 dancing around to top of the pops . Sooo cute.

Happy New Year to all Aug 08 mums - may 2009 be full of joy, blessings and peace for us all.

Is anyone actually going out tonight?

ann praying you and Seb are both better v soon

Alieight · 31/12/2008 19:30

Happy birthday sambo and Happy New Year to all of you!

Am a bit tipsy due to drinks at friend's house, so apologies for typing. Just wanted to say how wonderful it's been to have all of you to talk to over the past few months...am getting drunkenly tearful now at how supportive everyone is and how fabulous you all are. So bottoms up to everyone and hope that you all have a fantastic 2009!

Have read through the thread but have not managed to remember any of it apart from poppycat . And now thinking about it I'm not even sure it was poppy's cat...well whoever's cat it was I hope puss is ok now and not feeling too grim.

Christmas was fab - ample opportunity to hand Adam off to doting relatives and let my back rest . He behaved like alittle angel with everyone, very cheerful and chatting away...which came with a price of no sleep at night . He's been sleeping through for a while now and I'd honestly forgotten how exhausting it can be. Here's hoping it's a minor hiccup [pleading emoticon].

I hear a small voice crying for me - must dash!

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 31/12/2008 20:25

CC No not our for us - DD in bed, DH and I getting fish and chips we have a number of DVD's to watch and will probably see in the new year staring at our 2008 miracle!

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 31/12/2008 20:26

our = out

and I have no alcohol for an excuse!

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 31/12/2008 20:31

Woohoo, finally just bought tickets for Bristol on 13th! DH has switched his days so I can get the earlier train and be there about 10.50.

Feeling a bit queasy (in a digestive way not a hormonal way before you ask) so no dinner or treats tonight. Hoping it's just the excessive amounts of tea I drank at a friend's today than something contagious.

Oh yeah Kurt fell off friend's quite high bed today! He'd been asleep a couple of hours and I stupidly assumed he would call for assistance when he woke before attempting to crawl off it by himself. He had a pink bump on his forehead (although I found him on his back so he must have bounced or hit a drawer knob) but was fine after a few minutes of cuddling. Probably shouldn't have picked him up actually or something but whaddayagonna do? From the tone of his crying I inferred he was merely utterly appalled than seriously hurt - does that make me a good mum or a bad mum?

Hope you all have a good night, see you next year.

PetitFilou1 · 31/12/2008 20:49

Happy New Year to everyone (for 12pm as no way will I be up that late (sad old duffer mother emoticon)

I think of you all even when I don't post every day - thanks for being there with this baby. I only wish you'd been here for no1 and no2!!

dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 31/12/2008 20:56

happy new year! I know that I have mentioned this before but England is VERY COLD.

CaptainCaveman · 31/12/2008 20:58

buckets have I missed something MEGA IMPORTANT - is Kurt crawling? I witnessed my friends ds crawling about at 5.5 months - didn't believe it til I saw it with my own eyes!

oops I would be in bed if I thought dh would let me get away with it!!

dingdongmerrilyfromhome · 31/12/2008 20:58

sorry , not a very meaningful greeting from me today! We had a nice trip to visit southwell minster, which is beautiful, but it was VERY COLD.

CaptainCaveman · 31/12/2008 20:59

SOrry petit I meant you not oops! Not even had a sniff of wine yet!

You're right lwfh, its effing freezing

CaptainCaveman · 31/12/2008 20:59

Eh Southwell minster Nottingham? If so, it's only 4 miles down the road from me!!!!

longwayfromhome · 31/12/2008 21:02

yes, we are in Lincoln here, so not too far, and I drove, which was good practice - if you were stuck behind a car doing 45mph in the national speed limit are at about 11am, this was probably me!

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 31/12/2008 21:46

CC Kurt's been pulling himself about by the elbows since he was 10wks! It's because he's a tummysleeper - he's in the right position and his arms are super strong. He just keeps going when he wakes up until he hits a wall (or precipice.) He can also roll on to his back.

TwilightSurfer · 31/12/2008 22:13

Longway that's a funny image. I can just see it now with Captain a few cars back yelling a few choice words. Neither of you knowing your the best of MN friends. Would have made for interesting talk if you'd bumped each other with your cars.

Ali...where's the ring?

Oops, you and DH go ahead with that lazy evening home. I'm sure in a few weeks there could be interesting chatter from you too.

Buckets, Reese is sooooo close to crawling. I'll give her time...no pushing. Her roll just got perfected this weekend.

PF wouldn't it have been cool if we'd all been around for all our dcs.

Funny Facebook story. An old dear friend of mine wrote me today to say his wife and his longtime exgirlfriend are now friends on Facebook. That could be interesting, right? Ex has a little one by a lawyer who was married when she got pregnant. I'm guessing she thought it wouldn't be a good idea to have an abortion since she'd already had TWO that I know of. GOODNESS. The real life drama on Facebook...why do I even bother with television.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 31/12/2008 23:17

Evening

Happy New Year to all on our happy little August family. Just finished watching Chocolat and am off to bed now - i have never been a major NY person and as 2008 has been so very good to us all, i'm in no hurry to say goodbye. I'm sure Emma and i will be seeing in 2009 in the early hours and i'll be thinking of you all then.

Night

ataraxis · 31/12/2008 23:49

Hi sazzles - bye sazzles

ts, thanks for the calming vibes the other day - after going up every few minutes (I am just going to put the washing on, then I'll check on you... I am just going to put the dishwasher on, then I'll check on you... etc) he finally dropped off. Don't know what is going on with him at the mo - seems to have a case of the insecurities at night (must remember he is only 3).

Exciting news about the crawlers/almost crawlers!

Happy birthday Sambo (just).

DH has been asleep since 10.30, so I am sitting here on my own... actually, quite nice to have some me time, but must go to bed soon - tomorrow is just another day after all.

I would also like to say thank you for keeping me company and giving so much support in 2008 (I still remember those 16 days of overdue-ness with frightening clarity) - can you remember what life was like without them? I find the children amazing every day (when I am not being amazed at how exhausting they are ) and how dd has completed our family .

Looking forward to meeting some of you in 2009 and to chatting to everyone for ages to come.

TwilightSurfer · 01/01/2009 00:00

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

CaptainCaveman · 01/01/2009 10:10

HAPPY NEW YEAR AUG 08 LADIES AND BABIES

Oliver rewarded me with a feed at 11pm then not waking til 5.45! YAY. I'll be astounded if it lasts

lwfh we were on the A46 coming back from Market Rasen around 12.30 so it may not have been you slowing speedy boy dh down . Shame I didn't know you were going to the minster, I could have popped along and said Hi . Hi anyway

Got someone coming to view the house tomorrow, am supposed to be up here clearing up, not mn-ing as dh has just discovered

cyteen · 01/01/2009 10:48

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

CC Joe also gave me the best present - just one wake up, at 4am - which after several nights of two hourly waking was pure bliss. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the boozemilk I was forced to give him at 11pm after he yet again refused the bottle of lovely clean ebm we had ready Guess I need to start trying other bottles and being more persistent...sigh.

DP also gave me a wonderful present, which was a lie in till nearly 10 o'clock I love my family. Here's to a shiny new year!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/01/2009 11:40

Happy new year to you all
buckets hope Kurt is ok? He is just so ready to get going isnt here?
Must have given you a real fright.

I was up till 2am not celebrating as I too not a big fan of new year celebrations.
