VG I see what you mean. Will get with Sazzles on that subject.

TwilightSurfer · 26/12/2008 13:07

Festive name gone.
Back to old dreary me.

TwilightSurfer · 26/12/2008 13:08

Hey does anyone else have their holiday pics up on FB yet? I'll go check after breakfast.

TwilightSurfer · 26/12/2008 14:23

Sazzles may I change up the stats list. I could really use the mindless activity?

Here's what I was thinking. Please comment.

AnnVann's 1st, Sebastian, arrived 16th of September.
Ataraxis' 3rd, Lana, arrived 13th of September.
Skybluebelle's 1st, Jamie, arrived 5th of September.

This cuts out all the specifics like our age and where we live.

TwilightSurfer · 26/12/2008 14:29

and by the way, the edit i proprosed elimates the need for updates UNLESS someone has another child or changes their name.

TwilightSurfer · 26/12/2008 14:31

and while i'm here...
do i look pretty? i just pretended i was at the spa using all the aveda products santa left me in my stocking. i was such a good girl this year.

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 26/12/2008 15:35

Hi all.
CC hope your sis and niece are doing ok in the face of ex-p madness.

Well. DP DID get me a present a lovely coat. Loveliness of the day lasted until after DP had gone to bed. When I decided to go to sleep little man decided to wake up and scream. Now for ages I dealt with it by myself while DP snored away oblivious. I fed, rocked, cuddled, walked, made shhhhh noises, EVERYTHING, but each time I got him off, he woke up again and screamed. Now DP promised that he would be helping with night wakings now that he's off work. So I nudged him and asked him to lend a hand. He said 'mmmmmm' and turned straight back over and went to sleep. A little while later, baby screaming again I said ' Pleeeeease'. He slammed his hand on the pillow, stomped out of bed and said 'I guess I'VE got to do everything at night' Cue massive argument and me in tears.
Last night, I apologised for my part in the argument and got stony silence back. THis morning, he was still completely blanking me. I've had to apologise AGAIN. Why is it that he hurts me, and then I have to grovel to get him to be bloody civil (according to him I was just ranting at him last night ) am bloody fuming as he could at least apologise for the way he acted.
I will not be asking for his help ever again. FUCK HIM.

AndHeaVanAnnNatureSing · 26/12/2008 15:37

Uh - sorry for the rant folks. Just feel so annoyed that he won't admit he was also in the wrong. Things are now going on as if nothing has happened.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 26/12/2008 17:15

Evening

Just had a long soak and then joined in the bath with DD1 and had great fun capsizing penguins in a makeshift boat . She is in her PJ's already so i guess that makes us a bit ahead of schedule.
After our Xmas Eve hospital visit DD1 seems to be fine, thank goodness, well until this morning that was, when she tried to either ride or carry her wooden trike down the stairs and failed . SHe has a bruise the size of an egg on her forehead and a nosebleed but we think no lasting damage has been done as she has been pretty chirpy since (well apart from when she fell over again playing football, straight back on her forehead AGAIN ). Calpol and Arnica liberally applied and lots of cuddles seem to be doing the trick

ANn Glad you got a pressie but sorry to hear about DP's night time behaviour. Sounds like my DH who has no concept of time in the night and thinks i have been up for 5 mins when it is actually 2hrs. We have found the only way to deal with things in the night is to have a predetermined plan and stick to it as discussions about what course of action and who is dealing with it never go well during sleep hours

VG I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing the other day and thought i would suggest we drop the stats list completely come the New Year as i'm sure some lurkers dormant members would probably prefer this too

TS you look refreshed and beautiful after your spa

No1 hope your day improved with your family after the dog incident

Ann you gotta write it all down for him (or show him that post!)
Quick summary of Venus & Mars: (you have no idea how many times this has got me through a whole heap of marital frustrations.)
Men have no idea you're not happy unless you tell them, they will quite blissfully let you carry on steaming and seething assuming everything is right in the world. This is because, unlike us women, they are not psychic. There we are throwing daggers and cryptic crossword messages at them and expecting them to be as clever as us. They also score points differently to us - he thinks that coat was worth 50points and should tide you over for at least a week. Women class all gestures, gifts and kind words as 1 point each. Men don't understand that women will keep giving their little points away even if they feel they are owed. They only give points away if they think they are behind.

Ann {{{{HUGS}}}}

miniSazzles {{{HUG}}}

I want to cry. In my haste this morning. I forgot to turn on the slow cooker. Roast is now just a slab of room temperature ICK. Thankfully I pondered the idea that I might have forgotten to turn the knob to ON and purchased a frozen casserole while out. Then I phoned DH and he thinks the ILs aren't even coming over for dinner after all.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

NoroomattheCaveman · 26/12/2008 18:28

promise to join in later - just off to out of hours gp with Oliver as he is quite wheezy, think he has a chest infection. poor little lamb

TwilightSurfer · 26/12/2008 18:44

for miniCaptain

TwilightSurfer · 26/12/2008 18:48

Just in case anyone is interested. While I was out I purchased SIX different fitness magazines so I will be prepared for the NEW YEAR FITNESS CRAZE!!! Go HOT MAMAS!!

no1putsantaupthechimney · 26/12/2008 18:49

cc hope he is ok and has not got a chest infection.

ts hope you get the food sorted. i have also done that before.
i now double check when i switch it on.

sazzles your poor dd hope she ok.

vg hope the fresh air helped the fuzziness

ann for your argument. i agree with buckets, they just dont get it.
hope all is well now, and hope Seb sleeps better tonight.

marcus still crackly/coughing and floods of snot, but still smiling. Had lovely leftovers tea at mums, just got home and dd asleep on sofa, must go put her to bed.

TwilightSurfer · 26/12/2008 19:18

MIL just phoned to say the are meeting ex-SIL and DNiece for dinner at 5pm. Wondered if we'd be too busy for them to come at 3pm for a visit. We obviously have different ideas for two days of holiday family time. Don't get me wrong, I am not being silly about them visiting other grandkids BUT the dinner they are having tonight is with the grandchild THAT LIVES WITH THEM & her mother whose drinking made DNiece choose to move 4 hours away to live with the grandparents.

Guess I'm really fortunate after all. Just wished I'd known in advance because I would have SLEPT IN and NOT run all over town looking for one specila dinner item....in the rain with both kids.

The new year must have something nice in store for me, right?

TwilightSurfer · 26/12/2008 19:21

Sorry. Can't rant on FB because MIL is now on it. AAAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!

I do hope all the poorly lo's are doing better.

SazzlesIsASleighBell · 26/12/2008 20:17

Nice rant TS, I can feel the frustrations being banished as i type . Very rude though IMO to try and rearrange so late in the day for you. I hear though that you have a nice holidays in store in the New Year

DD1 seems ok thanks - gone to bed fine with more calpol. She tumbled down 6 wooden stairs and ended up with the trike on top of her so lord only knows what manoevere she was attempting . Thinking i maybe should have taken her to hospital but she's not been sick and her eyes look ok so i'll just keep checking on her

{{{{{get well}}}} to Oliver, Seb and Marcus....all these boys, are they starting training for man flu early?????

OP posts:
NoroomattheCaveman · 26/12/2008 21:41

Aye, Oliver has manflu bronchiolitis too. Sounds like a 60 a day smoker! Bless him. We saw the loveliest gp who agreed his chest sounded awful but was very reassuring. Just got to ride it out, carry on with calpol and call back if he gets any worse.

ts on your behalf - thats why you get to choose your friends, coz families can suck sometimes!

ann hope Seb is feeling better? My dh is exactly the same if I ask him to help at night - he gets angry and sweary and you'd think he had to do everything in the world. I have now realised (after he admitted to what I've known for years - he is verrry grumpy when tired) it is purely a ploy to make me not ask him to help, so fuck it, I am more determined to make him do it! Shame your dp makes you apologise though, he needs a good kick up the ass!

Thanks for asking - dsis went home with mum and dad so no more 'scenes' from her ex-p. Poor old dneice though, her daddy took all her christmas presents back before she even got chance to open them

TwilightSurfer · 27/12/2008 00:30

Okay this is my stats suggestion. Take it or leave it...doesn't matter to me either way. I MUST admit, however, that this was the most relaxing thing I've done in WEEKS. So the therapy alone was priceless. Now, does anyone have a closet they need straightened?

Buckets - partially great advice - I did tell him straight what the problem was but he wasn't having it. he says I can't expect him to be happy when woken up after two hours sleep.I pointed out I had had NO sleep and needed the help he promised. He refuse to accept this, or the fact that his reaction to my request for the help he promised me was hurtful.

WHY has Seb's sleep gone all to hell?? I'm still up wih wide awake boy refusing to sleep but screaming because he's tired. DP is aslee. he now has my cold. I've had it for a week and have still had to deal with all the night time bullshit.
Need to finish packing but can't. Spent an hour getting the bloody boy to sleep, come downstairs pick up one item and he's screaming again. Have had enough of this crap.

TwilightSurfer · 27/12/2008 13:07

Ann is DP going with you to Scotland?

As for Sebastian, could part of his troubles be that he's picking up on the tension at home? Babies are very sensitive.

Say this with me: "I am an amazing woman. I can do this. Women have gone before me, caring for children alone. I can take charge and do what needs to be done without the assistance of my baby's father." Prove to yourself that you are capable and accept dp's assistance only when he offers. His actions and his words are quite off color. You need strength and encouragement, not anger and petty gripes. Your relationship is an investment...you may have more invested that he does.

Ann you have done an incredible job so far. Each baby is different. Sebastian is obviously not the easiest. But it will get better. You will have a moment to breath. You will get a nights sleep.

I hope your visit to Scotland is amazing and gives you a new lease on motherhood that you never dreamed possible.

TwilightSurfer · 27/12/2008 20:05

Did I kill the thread?

oopsIstuffedaturkey · 27/12/2008 20:36

No TS one funeral a week is enough - have called paramedics they say it can be revived just 2 aspirin and a bit of rest!

I have a DD's room to sort with loads of new clothes and things that need organising - does you offer still stand TS?

We have had a mad 2 days away visiting my parents it resulted in yet MORE presents for DDand us too, far too much food eaten both savory and sweet.

Ann hope journey has gone well and you and DP managed to part on good terms (I can't remember if he is ging too?) or you managed a good trip together. Hoping your mum and dad can do a bit with Seb for you and you will get a rest and relax.

Hope little cavey is better and Minisazzles1's bump has gone down.

NoroomattheCaveman · 27/12/2008 20:44

hey hey hey! Sorry I couldn't get on here a while ago - page just wasnt' loading onto pc. ANYway....

Oliver seems well in himself but he sounds bloody awful! Both ds's are currently cuddled up in my bed, with ds1 holding ds2's hand

ann hope you are doing ok? Some men are just like kids when they don't get their sleep. Dh is very hurtful when I wake him up. I think sometimes I might actually wake him now just to spite him!

I'm off to open my wine......and relax
