i have loads of milk as well, i can get 4-5oz when i express in about 10 minutes. and my breasts are really engorged in the mornings that i end up soaking through a breast pad, my bra and the sheets.

i think alex is teething too, he is really dribbling and munching on his hands and my nipples. not madly bothering him yet so it may be a while yet before they come through.

he and my DD are so cute together, they sit and laugh at each other and his face lights up when he sees her. dh is a little jealous i think, but he's at work all day so it's understandable that he responds more to her.

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/12/2008 21:23

Yes it's possible to have too much milk myjob. I had a problem with this the last couple of days (better today), I think caused by ds sucking half heartedly in the night for a couple of hours beforehand. He screamed hysterically for quite a while during 3 or 4 feeds over those two days.
How much you can get from a pump though really isn't any indication of how much the baby will get - many babies will get more than a pump, but some will get less.

Star - drinking water doesn't make any difference to your milk production. You will just get thirsty if you don't drink enough!
that you only lasted 30 seconds.

myjob - we had one of those teethers for dd. On a few occasions we managed to rub bonjela on it and get it into her mouth, but generally speaking she refused it. Mind you, she also refused dummies, every other form of teether, bottles, cups, medicine...you get the picture! I still think that they seem good in theory.

Just logging on to wish you all a merry christmas! I've been packing our bags as we're heading off first thing in the morning to my parents. Really excited about getting out of London and having a bit of a break. Have fun everyone.

ohh just got a tiny twinge of homesickness hearinng "merry" christmas
Yes myjob - Q drools floods! sucks all the time and fusses when not sucking... although sometimes he is happy and ok.

loulou33 · 24/12/2008 15:43

hi,

Wishing you all a very merry christmas and hope santa brings lots of lovely pressies for you and your little ones.

Star - i would make a formal complaint to her boss, that is appalling for her to tell anyone without your permission - it s sackable offence. Not only does the nhs say she shouldn't do that but her professional body would be shocked too - check the nhs website for confidentiality info and who to complain to (your local trust will have a contact). Counsellors don't always have expertise in all areas to she may have felt unable to help you and some counsellors find it hard to cope when they dont' know how to help someone - so she may have blabbed becuase she didn;t know what to do (no excuse though). Ask for a referral to a clinical psychologist in your local area (you may also have a specialist sexual health psychologist in your area). I am a clinical psycholgist by trade and there shoudl be a good service near you that can help you out - good luck and big hugs to you sweetheart, it so unfair that you trusted someone and they let you down

Also star - don't worry about q settling - i was frantic about Joe settling on his own but he has managed it by himself 9Nnow 15 weeks), it just took a bit of time and patience (something i have very little of!!). you can't spoil him yet, he's too young and i belive its best to pick them up and give in straight away rather than leave for a while and then give in (ie either give in immediately or be as tough as iron and never give in!!). it only upsets you and him and then you feel guilty. If you can be tough, then fair enough but i know i can't so i don't even try!!

Honeymoonmummy · 24/12/2008 19:11

My Job, I didnt look at the link but someone who runs a kids nursery told me the wooden ones are good as well as the frozen ones, they sell them in mothercare apparently.

I read somewhere about letting down too quickly, again didnt look at the link but there was a breastfeeding position that goes against gravity.

Poppy just projectile pooed on my hand

your poor dh myjob! He works a lot!
I hope you get them all wrapped in time
DH here is ill. vomiting all day and feeling really yuck. He went out for a few hours last night so this is second night in a row with no help with ds at night. I know I sound spoiled, but I'm used to him taking ds for a few hours each night and without it I feel completely exhausted!
He just won't settle tonight.
lol at projectile poo honeymoonmummy

star6 · 24/12/2008 19:29

Knackered again here - ds unsettled last night and a bit today too, and isn't yet asleep tonight. Don't think I'll be able to keep my eyes open tomorrow at this rate. He has come down with a bit of a snuffle, so not sure if it's that, teething or just being in a different place (we're at my parents) that is the problem.

Anyway, just on quickly to wish you all a very merry Christmas .

Heres to a merry christmas to us all and our babies

Hoping for another good night although DD had bottle earlier to night so may not sleep as long as last night and DD1 will be up early I think

star6 · 25/12/2008 07:34

thanks loulou. I will ask for that referral when I go in with ds for his vax next week. thanks so much all for support on that. I do think she was overwhelmed by it all. you're right loulou she is prob not trained for that

Honeymoonmummy · 25/12/2008 09:31

Merry Christmas everyone! x

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/12/2008 11:16

Merry Christmas everyone.

Not a great night (ds didn't go to bed til 10!), but better than the night before. Both dc slept in a bit this morning though at least.

Dd very excited by all of her presents. Ds obviously doesn't have a clue what all the fuss is about!

Sorry for no sleep night csws, same here... ds up every 2 hours. What's going on with him? Been insatiable with hunger as well. Finally sleeping. I sent dh out to walk with him until he fell asleep... it did the trick! yeah! He's now bundled in winter coat, hat, mitts, and sleeping bag in his bouncy chair... I'm not moving him to take anything off... I'll open a window! mw would say I'm overheating him I'm sure!

ajm200 · 25/12/2008 17:05

Merry Xmas ladies. Kept far too busy by the DCs at the mo to get much PC time. Hope you are all enjoying your first Xmas with your little ones. Amelia is totally not bothered and has slept most of the day. Looks like another long night with our truly nocturnal baby.

star6 · 25/12/2008 18:47

loulou - how did it happen? Did he just settle himself one day by surprise or did you work up to it?
Q been writhing around crying during feeds this evening. now being paced around our flat by dh
