CherryChoc · 28/01/2009 21:10

Hi - can I join? I'm new on mn but I have a DS born 5 October 2008.

Or should I be on the September thread as he was due then?

aubergenie · 28/01/2009 21:19

CSWS - The frosting is just made with vegan margarine, so I suppose you could adapt any buttery icing type recipe.

It's 50g vegan marg
3 tbsp water
200g icing sugar
50g cocoa powder

Melt marg and water together. Seive icing sugar and cocoa powder into the pan and, off the heat, mix till smooth. Voila!

The cake manages to be dairy free by containing creamed coconut and oil.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/01/2009 21:20

Welcome to MN and our jolly little thread CherryChoc. You can join as long as you don't have a baby that is calm all the time and sleeps through .
Your name will of course make me dribble over my keyboard every time you post .
Do tell us a bit about yourself and your ds.

Ooh, yum at creamed coconut. Now I might just need the whole recipe, though for me rather than dd's party!

Welcome Cherrychoc! Your ds was born a day after mine!

I was mortified today - went for a coffee with a woman I met at the parent baby cinema and who I've seen at a few baby things. Ds did an explosive poo so I took him off to change him. It was an awful one, all up to his shoulders and he was waving his arms and legs around luike a mad thing. Anyway, I was in the dingy disabled toilet and someone kept trying the door so I was a bit flustered and trying to rush. I brought him back to our seats, only for this woman to point out that ds had poo down the side of his face! . How embarrasing.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/01/2009 21:37

Aubergenie.

A woman took pity on me in Starbucks this morning. I'd gone in because ds was moaning, so I figured he wanted a feed, but he was hysterical and wouldn't take it. He was literally screaming the place down. He was just calming when a lady who'd just got her coffee came over to sympathise with us, and he even managed a smile for her! Was nice to feel sort of helped rather than ignored or judged. Wondered why one group of women in the corner had totally ignored it all, and then realised that they were deaf!
Thought it was caused by teething, but he slept for so long this morning that I'm wondering now if it was actually overtiredness!

Oh dear CantSleep, hope your keyboard survives... DS has weed on mine twice so far!

Erm a bit about me, I don't really know what to post, I'm 20 and I live with my DP - my DS is our only child so far. We also got a kitten a few weeks ago because I had a mistaken belief that they were easy to look after... it's like having two babies! Twice as cute though and not so bad now he can go out.

My DS I'm afraid has been one of those mythical "good" babies - he slept 7 hours at about 5 weeks but has now started waking 1-2 times a night again. I am co sleeping with him though so I basically latch him on while still mostly asleep and I don't usually remember when or how often he wakes now.

He is definitely not calm all the time though - I think he might possibly be starting to teethe, he keeps crying in a frustrated/angry way and chewing on anything he can get his hands on. He doesn't seem to be in pain though so I haven't broken out the calpol yet. He rolled for the first time on Monday and his other new trick is if I put a dummy in his hand the right way round, he will put it into his mouth himself.

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 22:20

Hi all, haven't read posts since last one but I'm having a crisis! Have been feeding Poppy and I've run out of milk and she's still hungry. Have used the 5.5 oz I had left in the freezer and she still crying. What do I do?? I've been using the medela pump I got for last 5 mins to get supply up for tomorrow, is that the right thing to do? Nothing coming out but figured would work for tmrw.
Think we can get her off to sleep but I'm really worried about not feeding her esp given her weight today. the same thing happened a few days ago too for the first time in weeks, but I had enough frozen milk then, but all used now.
Do u think its cos of my scalded hand??? I remember reading something about u had to be in a good mood to optimise production of milk and its been hurting like hell. Have a bag of frozen peas on it!

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 22:21

oh and she's 12 weeks - growth spurt??? Thought that was last week with the 10oz growth tho...

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 22:22

Actually its gone quiet downstairs - DH may have got her off to sleep...

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 22:45

She's asleep now. I'm off to bed soon, may go and have a much-needed thimbleful of wine first, after all its our anniversary in just over an hour!!!!

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 22:47

Oh plus the creases in her neck look really red due to vomiting all the time, any suggestions? Been putting olive oil on it but it doesnt seem to be helping.

ronshar · 28/01/2009 23:02

Welcome CherryChoc. I too will only be able to think of Chocolate when I see your name.

Honneymoon, do you express so daddy can bottle feed? It may be worth just feeding yourself for a few days to boost production. I'm sure CSWS will be along to tell you the best thing. I just hope I am not completley wrong. Have you put Sudocream on your burn. It will take the heat out and help it heal quick fast. Honest. Not a wives tale.

No sleep again last night. Why I am still on here at this time of night I dont know. I have had a completely Blond day today.
Locked myself out of the house.
Couldnt get the petrol cap door open on hire car. Had to drive out of Sainsbuy petrol station with lots of men shaking their heads at me. Suffered the humiliation of haveing to ask DH. Did he laugh

CSWS. If you want to send me a bit of any cake you bake I dont mind being your quality control

ronshar · 28/01/2009 23:09

Sudo cream for creases. Honest it works on everything. Try to keep her neck dry. You may have to manipulate your way under her chin as babies dont like to flex their heads back. Do you keep a bib on etc to soak up? William has a muslin constantly attached to him. Poor baby he looks like Linus from Charlie Brown. With out the flies.

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 23:10

The nappy rash stuff? Will give it a try. Its stopped burning now, maybe the paracetomol I took or maybe the thimblefull...

I've not been doing the daddy feed, I tried it ages ago but I was getting up earlier to go to bed earlier which didnt make sense so I stopped. I've not been drinking enough water tho and have been out a lot in the last week or so, so some feeds have been stretched out which prob hasnt helped.

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 23:11

Oh OK thanks. I've usually got 2-3 bibs on her at any one time!!!

ronshar · 28/01/2009 23:13

Yep that will do it. As I learnt to my cost a few weeks ago. But I had to make a real effort to feed 2hourly for a couple of days and it is all ok again now.

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 23:13

Right, I'm going downstairs to see DH for a bit, will check msgs before I go to bed. thanks x

ronshar · 28/01/2009 23:15

Off to bed to try and get some sleep before the night shift starts

Honeymoonmummy · 29/01/2009 04:40

Can't sleep. Poppy is sound asleep and I can't sleep

I appear to be developing a cold and sore throat overnight, could this be the reason for my milk production problem?

star6 · 29/01/2009 06:12

oh wish i'd logged on!! im always up at 430 honeymoon would have kept you company

star6 · 29/01/2009 08:12

Welcome Cherrychoc.
I'd love that coconut milk cake recipe too Working HARD to cut out dairy here. And it's not easy!!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/01/2009 08:47

Which dairy things are you struggling with star, in case I can suggest an alternative?

Honeymoon - good advice from Ronshar - she has obviously been listening in class .
You won't have actually run out of milk, as your breasts make it all the time she is feeding (think of it a bit like a glasss, with water trickling in at a slow steady pace, and someone drinking the water through a straw at the same time - the glass is never actually empty, but it can seem like it when you can't get a good strawful), but it is probably just her trying to get your supply up for a growth spurt. Best thing is just to feed her directly more often for a couple of days.

Hello . I was wondering if I could join your thread. My ds was an October baby and is now 13 weeks old. He has been a fairly easy baby from about 6 weeks, but things are getting a bit tougher as I'm trying to re-establish bf (gave up a month ago and now regretting that decision).

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/01/2009 10:12

Blimey - 2 new members in 2 days! Welcome dizzee . Are you getting lots of advice from MN about re-establishing the bf? How is it going?
