loulou33 · 27/01/2009 21:12

oh my god - i thought you were saying, i've died feeding, that would be an extreme response to bf!!

loulou33 · 27/01/2009 21:15

....clearly i need more sleep - only 3 hours last night, that's a whole week with no more than that each night, am getting delirious now....i keep telling myself i will get sleep eventually

had to get tough today with joe and put him in cot awake for a sleep as he was soooover-tired. He cried for a bit but slept well in the end and went down awake tonight after a false start as he had wind (again!!) Am hoping he'll not wake every 2/3 hours tonight but who knows......watch this space

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/01/2009 21:25

am with you on that loulou, though I think I've been closer to 4 hours than 3.
Ds' cold bothering him today, and maybe teeth too, and then wind cause gulping down air cause can't breathe properly due to cold. And maybe overtired, but who knows by that point! He ended up just napping for 20 mins when I posted earlier, then was happy for a while, and then spent 30-40 mins hysterical when I was trying to put him to bed.

OP posts:
Honeymoonmummy · 27/01/2009 21:28

Ha Ha Loulou!! Now that WOULD spark a heated debate!

Sorry to hear you're not sleeping guys.

Do any of your babies get hysterical after a bath while they're being dried?

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/01/2009 21:31

Not mine. We bought him a divinely soft bamboo towel, and he lies in it all snuggly and happily munching on his hands.

OP posts:
Honeymoonmummy · 27/01/2009 21:36

Is Bamboo the make? It's a real shame, DH does the bath and they both love the 'before' and 'during', but the 'after' spoils the experience.

Honeymoonmummy · 27/01/2009 21:43

Awwww look

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/01/2009 21:45

No, bamboo is what it's made from. It's one of these. Bath sheet size, so that it lasts!

Right, going to try and make it in to bed for 10pm. What's the betting ds is awake by half past .

OP posts:
ronshar · 27/01/2009 21:57

CSWS, William is always awake at 10.30pm so no point going to bed before then.

Honneymoon, that Moo Cow is the cutest thing I have seen for ages. I think I am going to get me one of those

Loulou, hang in there it will get better sooner rather than later.
I hope, that is what I am clinging to as I am currently using match sticks for my eye lids.

Honeymoonmummy · 27/01/2009 22:04

Poppy fell asleep side-feeding just now, then woke up when the nipple fell out of her mouth and really lifted her head and supported herself on her arms to get it back! So much for me worrying about the lack of tummy time!

Ekka · 27/01/2009 22:28

Glad to hear that I'm not alone on the lack of sleep! Dd decided yesterday not to have a nap (she's only 19mths), though she actually coped ok without one. Ds is STILL not going more than 2 hours between feeds in the day, though last night he slept from 8pm till 1.30am (stupidly I didn't get to sleep till 11.30 ). And then he woke at 4.30 and 6.30. But he had his jabs today, and I can hear him stirring.

Had ds weighed today and he has not put on any weight this week, but I think its because he's been on antibiotics (I hope).

Honeymoon - congrats on the swimming! I'm looking forward to taking ds swimming soon. Matthew sometimes is happy to be dried, I tend to find wrapping him in one towel and then also putting another across him like a blanket works as then he is quite happy to lie and be dried.

Thanks Ekka. CSWS I'll get a bamboo towel, thanks. Just been to weigh Poppy, she's lost 1.5 oz But different scales and put on 10 oz last week so hopefully just a blip.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/01/2009 12:41

Honeymoon - try and look at it that she's gained 11.5oz in 2 weeks, which is fab . Such a small diff can be made just by whether she's had a feed/poo, as well as the diff scales, that I really wouldn't worry. Iirc dd went for 4 months without gaining anything starting when she was about 5 months, and it didn't do her any harm. Might dig out red book later to check that I haven't imagined that .

Any pro-bakers on here who would like to contribute to my cake thread?

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 17:18

Me? Bake? Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

aubergenie · 28/01/2009 17:39

CSWS - I've got a lovely vegan choc fudge cake recipe if you haven't already found one. The only thing is you'd have to, I think, double the recipe as it's for 2 deep 8 inch diameter tins. Let me know if you need and i'll type it out for you.

aubergenie · 28/01/2009 17:39

Oh sorry -I put it in the wrong thread.

star6 · 28/01/2009 18:22

Q woke at 1.47am this morning tired. long day. He didnt go back to sleep until 9am when i was at work

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 19:13

Christ Star, that's awful!

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 19:13

Christ Star, that's awful!

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 19:14

Crap.

Honeymoonmummy · 28/01/2009 19:22

scorched my right hand when lid fell off new kettle so slowly typing with left.

supposed to b starting free baby first aid course in week or so with st john ambulance but its for 2 hours 3 evenings
and i cant see pops settling

jenwa · 28/01/2009 20:09

Oh star how awful, bet you feel pants!

honeymoon Well at least you will know how to deal with your scorched hand [ouch] I am sure Poppy will be fine, is your DH any good at settling her?

Oh dear, I hope it was not me that caused the debate on here re my formula feeding . Although I do feel that people can be very opionionated at times and although some mean well some are very stuck in their ways and can soetimes come accross quiet rude .
I personally did change dd on to formula for my best interest but that was because I did not know how much she was getting from the breast and I was started to go a bit crazy not knowing and I am soooooo organised I needed to know, personally though I feel that dd is so much more settled since doing so, maybe this is because I am too but she is in such a good routine now. she feeds at about 6-7 am and goes back to bed and wakes at 10:30/11 for feed then stays awake with a little nap until 2.30/3.30 for another feed then has bath at 6 ish and feed 6.30/7 ish then goes to bed. It is working fab now and all feeling better.

I do wonder though if anyone elses little one has awful nappies as dds are always green and up the back, down the leg explosive??!!! Could it be the formula? she has 1 poo a day and it is always the same!
She is now 13lb and although this is a good weight she seems to be more on the central line rather than between middle and top so not sure if she just stretching out now and thats why she not such a bomb! WIll take her again next week and see what she is as dont want her weight dropping!

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/01/2009 20:59

You don't need to justify yourself Jenwa (you control freak you ).
Ds also generally has one poo a day which is explosive, though not green.

Star - that's a looooooong time to be awake in one stretch! Is he poorly?

Ouch for scorched hand. Design fault or clumsy owner?

Thanks Aubergenie. Don't type it all out specially, but if there's a dairy free frosting or topping of some sort then I'd love that part .
