Hi all, does anyone know a good option for a teether in a baby who dislikes a dummy??

I've seen a MN post about using a cold flannel, how do you sterilise this??

And how long after sterilising do dummies and teethers stay sterile??

I'm still not sure if Poppy is teething or its just the reflux making her irritable, she has drooled a bit in the past week, but really not much, but she has started sucking her fist a lot.

Found an old post by you CSWS while looking

Honeymoonmummy · 21/01/2009 09:09

Oh and we had 8.5 hours sleep straight last night, she's really settling down sleep-wise. She's still constipated tho, for 3 weeks now

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/01/2009 09:54

What she hasn't had a poo at all in 3 weeks, or it's 3 weeks during which she has been struggling?

No idea re sterilising, as I don't sterilise anything! I just bung stuff in the dishwasher and then pop it in the cupboard/fridge until I want it. I haven't made either of them ill yet with this method .

Dd wouldn't accept teethers either honeymoon, or my finger putting bonjela on, or medicine of any description however administered. Have you got the picture yet that she was a difficult baby ? I did have some joy with one of these. You can't really see it in that pic, but it's a bit like one of these but with little bumps on to massage the gums rather than the bristles.

Well ds spent the night in the Amby. He woke for feeds at 11, 2:20 and 6 (although this turned out to be the start of the day, and not just a night feed), but fed for 45 mins each time, so managed a max of 3 hours at a stretch. I also woke at 1am as I thought I heard dd, and 5am when dd came in for a cuddle, so am a bit knackered today. I just can't do daytime naps myself though, and on the rare occasions that I do it just results in me not being tired enough to sleep at bedtime.

i don't sterilise , things are only sterile whilst they are in the steriliser so i don't bother, i just wash in very hot water.
i quite like the bonjela teether coz it has 2 'arms' so cools all the gums at once. i think i got it from tesco.

I got one of those from Boots the other day, Boots own brand and have only tried it once but she doesnt seem keen.

She has been going regularly, at least once a day but it is much more solid, it used to be cow-pat like.

Honeymoonmummy · 21/01/2009 10:51

Oh and I don't have a microwave. Sterilising is a PITA tho. Ha ha ha I mean a dishwasher! Had to leave that as it was, funny!

ronshar · 21/01/2009 11:00

Poo and diets! I'm off. I dont like either.
My Wii fit makes a funny noise when I get on it

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/01/2009 11:01

My kind or heather's kind honeymoon?

I have a friend who really doesn't have a microwave. I'd be utterly lost without mine!

Sounds like a fine night myjob . When she's down with you for the evening, do you watch tv/do your own stuff, or are you paying her constant attention?

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 21/01/2009 11:03

Oh, and that's not constipation honeymoon. Gaviscon always makes the poo more solid, but it's not a problem unless she seems uncomfortable with it .

Ds slept on school run but woke as always when I carried him in, so I fed him and thought he might doze off for a few extra mins - he's still asleep now on my lap over 2 hours after first dozing off in car! I would have put him in Amby if I'd thought he would be this long. I don't even have a drink to sustain me!

Honeymoonmummy · 21/01/2009 11:08

Yeah, she's straining too and sometimes crying.

Marthasmama · 21/01/2009 11:09

CSWS - I too am stuck under a sleeping baby and I've not had breakfast yet! I'm hungry....

Was just wondering myjob, as I like to have the tv on the evenings, but ds would watch it too (big screen on wall so hard to avoid when on) and I'm not keen on that, so was wondering how you got round it. Obv by not watching utter crap your fave programmes all night!

Dd has watched loads of tv since I got pregnant again, so ds is used to that, but it's nice if he can have a bit of tv free time when she's not around, so that he too can appreciate that there are more things in life!

Jeez - I've wasted the whole morning and he's still asleep. Now he won't nap again whilst dd is at school, so I'll get nothing done all day!

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 21/01/2009 11:44

Ha. Mine is awake too, but so far as vomited all over me and is grumpy! Hurrah!

Honeymoonmummy · 21/01/2009 11:50

Poppy is COMPLETELY addicted to the telly, esp the 2 baby channels! I went on a freebie parenting course arranged by work and they said no telly for kids under the age of 3...oops!

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/01/2009 11:51

Think I win the longest nap award for today then. If only he could tack some of this sleep on to his night sleep instead of getting me up so blinking early!
