Thanks Jenwa. I guess I can handle putting it back in at night... it sure beats waking up every 2-3 hours and staying awake to feed for 40 minutes only to wake up 2-3 hours later, then get up for work at 5.30am and start all over. I cannot believe I am used to that sleeping pattern for 15 weeks. ridiculous!

jrsqueak · 17/01/2009 10:38

Must be the night for it Joshua did 7 hr stretch last night too. woo hoo.

Yay for sleep CSWS (are you going to have to name change soon, or am I being a bit previous?)! Thanks for all the links. You are indeed the October thread?s personal shopper. I?ll run them by dp. I had a rubbish night. Ds has a cold and is more clingy than normal.

Star, your ds sounds just fine. As the others have said, all babies are different. I think it?s easy to start comparing and feeling that your own child isn?t doing as well, especially if you?re feeling a bit tired and stressed. The screaming sounds just like S ? he?s windy and suffering quite badly from painful farts (sorry if tmi). The CO has been working on it and it is improving, but she did say that some of it is just because he has an immature digestive system. Have you mentioned it to your CO? Maybe they can help.

Dp treated me to a massage the other night. She came to the flat. It was fantastic EXCEPT that ds cried the whole way though in the other room. It was like a drill in my brain. The minute I went through and picked him up, he stopped. I think he must have just wanted his mum. How relaxing (not).

Marthasmama · 17/01/2009 13:36

I am so jealous but also glad that your LOs are sleeping for longer. The jabs have really screwed DD up and now she has a cold too. It a really nasty one, I know, because I have it too...... If she feels as bad as me then poor little love. She was so exhausted last night that she fell asleep sitting up on my lap, but slept from 10pm until 1am, then decided it was time to play until 3am. She did sleep until 7am, so not too bad but she had been sleeping through! Lovely DH took both the kids out as DD was going to Bluewater to have hand & feet imprints done. He's taking them out to Tesco in a minute so I can go back to sleep.

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/01/2009 15:19

Yay star - well done.

MM - ds, dd and I all have stinky colds too. I can highly recommend the karvol vaporiser I bought this week (except that the back doesn't come off as easily as they make out).

MM - I think I deserve a better sleeper this time as I was still up 5-7 times a night with dd at 8 months!
I won't be changing name Aubergenie, as am too well known on the boards, but I have been known to tweak the 'Can't' to make 'Can'.

Thanks for clarifying who you are jrsqueak!

Oh jrsqueak! mum2jakeyroo!! I feel like you've taken a mask off Feel like I know you know
csws does dd not sleep through?
I cant wait for ds to sleep through.... dreaming of the day... as we live in a 1 bedroom flat (which we bought while market was good... now a bit stuck!!) he's in our room, so I wonder if that will hinder sleeping through as well. But much much easier to pop binkie in his mouth or pat back when he's in cot right next to us
aubergenie how awful that ds screamed through massage!
myjob not sure about that helping with growth, but I can tell you that ds has fed up until last night every 2-3 hours his entire life pretty much and he's gaining more than enough - I would say it works!

star6 · 17/01/2009 17:14

ha! I meant "know you now" not "know you know", of course

star - yes dd sleeps through generally, unless unwell or feeling a bit insecure/unsettled because of the arrival of a sibling .

Does N have a dummy as well myjob? I guess that a thumb has the advantage of not needing you to put it back in at night, but the disadvantage of you never being able to get rid of it.

myjob I know this sounds totally daft, but 4 months is how many weeks? I assumed 16 weeks was 4 months... so I thought ds would be 4 months next Thursday? But I think N is older than Q... just curious if I'm calculating this incorrectly because thinking about using and trying things that say "from 4 months" but don't want to act prematurely b/c of my poor math skills!!

heather1980 · 17/01/2009 19:59

star alex is 13 weeks but 3 months yesterday. some months have 5 weeks in them. i would go by birth date so if Q was born 2nd oct then he'll be 4 months on 2nd feb but 17 weeks iyswim

My god, I go out for the day and there are a million posts! It's just taken me 30 mins to catch up!

Definitely something in the water last night, Poppy did a whopping 9 hours straight!!

I've been out sho[[ing with DH and POppy today, Poppy's first shopping centre visit. Why do they make the damn floors so smooth?!? Which cafes do you all normally bf in? I cant summon up the courage! Just fed her in car in Tesco car park!

Spent far too much money in Mothercare - again - bought myself a Medela swing pump after all the MN recommendations. Also bought POppy a wetsuit so just need to get that swim nappy now and we'll be set! I haven't dared see how I look in a swimming costume yet! I've just weighed myself for the first time in a month asnd I've put on 4 lbs!!! Time to lay off the bf ing choc snacks I think!!

Also bought a babt sleeping bag which she is now wearing, thanks for the tips folks!

Excuse any typos, am typing one handed while side feeding on bed!!

Its quite nice having babies in the lower quartile Myjob isnt it as long as they are healthy cos we can use the clothes for longer!!

Re dummy, I cant get Poppy to take it for more thamn few secs, any tips? Dont want her to end up as a thumb sucker.

Would it be covered by house insurance Myjob? I'm sure it will be fine

Honeymoonmummy · 17/01/2009 20:59

Oh and Star, re development, I like this website for seeing which stage babies "should" be up to... www.babycentre.co.uk/baby

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/01/2009 21:06

No tips for dummies here - I can't get ds to take one either.

Honeymoon - are you going to get disposable or reuseable swim nappies? If you want a reuseable one I have one that dd only used a few times that you're welcome to. I think it's like this one, although more of a fuschia pink. If you want it then email me your address details on CantSleepWontSleep at gmail dot com.

I'll feed pretty much anywhere honeymoon, but prefer cafes with comfy seats if poss, so like starbucks, costa, John Lewis etc.

How will the trampoline get wrecked myjob? Is it one of those big ones with an enclosure?
Is v windy here too, but I worry more about it waking the dc up!

Star - what things are you thinking about using and trying that say 'from 4 months'? I ask only out of concern that some food manufacturers put 'from 4 months' on weaning foods, when they really aren't suitable at all until 6 months.
