Oh Loopy I never meant to imply you were hardened just wise, fearless and cool! (Adam was exposed to the pox for the first time the other day, got a temperature but no spots boo hoo). I'm don't think Adam would notice my absence for a while if he was surrounded by new toys and a new audience, a swim sounds heavenly, are you going to go in a sauna too and make me extra ?

Jetgirl - Roman days sounds cool, I love going out and about with Adam now he is walking and so curious about everything (nosey).

RG - how is your head? We have a night out booked this Sat and the MIL has agreed to stay over. Yummy vodkas.

Febes - do you still have the odd glass of wine? I used to. 30 weeks! Does this pregnancy feel any different? The woman who came to cover my maternity leave and stayed is now 21 weeks and having a girl. I would suggest a baby relay with her but DH is being stubborn about that one.

littleoldme · 24/02/2009 22:39

Loopy - congrats to your friend. Breech at home, she must have really had to stick her guns on that one.
I bet you'll love your swim

Jet - Your Roman day sounds fun. Things like that must be easier when they atrt walking. I'm llokinh forward to not having to negotiate the buggy everywhere. T has done a couple of steps but he's still mostly crawling - and in a v comic fashion, he kind of drags one leg.

Febes- 30 weeks already. Blimey, that's gone quick.

RG- Glad you went and let your hair down. Hope your head is clearer now

All quiet here. We went to go and meet BILs girlfriend's family at the weekend. We went out for a meal and my Mum came to look after T. We had a fab time but OMG I really can't hold my drink anymore.

T slept in until 8.30on Sunday morning Why he couldn't have saved it up for us I don't know.
Greedy LOL at your mat cover being pregnant.
In our dept we're having probelms getting staff, one person is leaving due to promotion, one is going to OZ, one os going to work in Zanzibar, I'm going, 3 people are on mat leave and I'm going at Easter !

Sounds like T has settled so I'm off to bed X

Hi Ladies!

Loopy, I'm sure DD3 will be fine! Hope you enjoy your swim!

I have to say tho that Ellie would be having none of it! I took her to a play group for the first time on Monday and she stayed stuck firmly on my lap for at least the first half an hour before she realised that big monsters weren't going to come and eat her up (or whatever such thoughts go around in their head at that age). She loved it in the end tho and she didn't want to leave! Brilliant!

Greedy - head is (and always was) fine thanx I'm lucky enough not to suffer (much) with Vodka. The only thing that does my head in is lack of sleep! Hope you have a brilliant night out on Saturday.

LOM - Sounds like there wont be anyone left at your place! I bet you're really looking forward to going now, aren't you?

Hi everyone!!
I haven't felt like booze too much this PG I've had the odd glass of wine but only a couple through out the whole thing. I'll make up for it afterwards believe me.
This PG has definately been easier so far but as I'm not taking mat leave as such this time I'm going to try to work right up to the week before my due date so I think the last few weeks could be difficult. Last time I finished at 32 weeks on 4 months full pay and spent the last 2 months going to yoga, aquanatal and coffee's with friends.
This time it will be work but come may I'll be free!!

jetgirl · 25/02/2009 21:46

Loopy - wow, good on your friend, I'm so pleased it went well for her. Enjoy your swim, sounds like you deserve a bit of me-time at the moment.

Febes - 30 weeks!! Definitely on the countdown now then!

LOM - at our briefing on Monday the first thing the head said was '6 weeks till Easter!' So only 5 more Monday mornings for you to face now I guess. Am v. !

William has a chest infection and has some anitbiotics - the banana one. He still thinks it's foul and sprayed me with his first dose. Some clever MN people suggested i mix it with yoghurt and voila! he's taking it quite ahppily so hopefully he'll be better soon. He's has a nasty cough which wakes him up and last night he wouldn't sleep for more than half an hour at a time which was knackering! How quickly do antibiotics work?! I need a good night's sleep!

That sounds nicer than what I find in Anabel's nappies.

LOL Loopy! Maybe it was originally pink and sparkly but the journey south had altered the colour!

Jet - After xmas Adam had a suspected chest infection and nasty cough at night. Two lots of foul banana stuff didn't clear the cough (we got him to take it with a syringe and lots of applause and whooping every time he took a mouthful!), anyway he got referred to the asthma nurse who said it was most probably a post-viral inflamation of the lungs (not asthma) and some babies continued to cough for up to 3 months and if it happened again to ask for an inhaler to help the soothe the irritation/inflamation. Adam's cough had gone by the time she came to see him of course! Hope William is better soon.

Had a lovely few days with Adam who seems to be back out of his whinging phase at the mo. We met LOM and T at a soft play place and I can report that they are both lovely and T is a top climber and all round dare devil.

Hurrah for the weekend .

littleoldme · 28/02/2009 14:09

Loopy - Could it be a diamond, or possibly a sapphire? If you have a child that poos gems you are deffo onto a winner.

Jet - Hopw William is on the mend soon and sleeping better. You must be knackered.

Greedy - We had fun too. We should def do it again sometime. t was asleep withiin about 45 secs of being in the car.

Febes - I guess you just have to see how you feel nearer the time. How much Mat leave are you planning to take ?

I got some sad news yesterday: one of my NCT antenatal friends has found herself suddenly and dramatically single. Her husband left on Monday.
There must be something in the water at mo, it seems to be happeneing lots.
Have a good weekend one and all.

Greedy - William had an inhaler when he had bronchiolitis back in November, I still have it and if the cough is still lingering I may try that again, however he does seem to be sleeping better now. Though whether that's due to the drugs or the fact that we realised he really didn't like his sleeping bags and so switched to blankets, I don't know! If the cough hasn't cleared up by the beginning of the week I'll take him back to the docs, our doc always says to go back if I'm worried, and she means it too.

LOM - DH got up with the kids this morning and let me sleep in till 10:30!! William only woke at 2 and 4 last night, which was a big improvement. Hope your frined is ok and has lots of support.

Loopy - William's nappies are always interesting after a day at nursery. The bright green one the day after painting was amazing - I was just glad he'd eaten green paint and not red, otherwise I'd have been straight to ED!!

Had a nice chilled out day, my friend and her DH came round with their little girl who's 11 months. Our DH's then left to go guitar amp shopping (don't ask - they think they're going to be rockstars!) while we had a good catch up and her little crawled after William all afternoon. They were so cute together. William then started flirting with my friend - I think he sees her as a potential mother-in-law .

Enojy the rest of the weekend

Febes · 01/03/2009 12:49

I got a black-out blind for Anabel's room but still no curtains. I didn't like any at ikea and no others I have found are long enough.

I also took her to get fitted for clarks shoes yesterday 3.5F but I don't want to pay so much for shoes so i have been looking at ebay. What shoes are you guys using for your DCs??

I'm a Clarks girl too because my mum did the same for us too Loopy.

Enjoy your sniffing!

jetgirl · 03/03/2009 11:10

Clarks for DD, Startrite for William. I'm the same as Loopy and Rg on this one. I hate the cost, but it's probably cheaper than having to rectify some problem in adulthood.

Loopy - happy sniffing!

I was invited to go baby-sniffing tomorrow, but can't as DD has her pre-school jabs, I'm really dreading these ones, I've never taken a toddler for jabs before

Loopy - I'm taking DD shopping afterwards. Sainsburys has Night Garden toys in which she wants every time we go shopping, so today she can have one!

Febes · 04/03/2009 21:24

Anabel is getting really bad at yelling and being really stroppy. Is this what toddlers are like?? She's still lovely and cute but so loud!!! Anyone having this issue.

RGPargy · 04/03/2009 22:16

Febes, yes i think it's normal!!

Has anyone else's DCs developed a fear of new things and new children??

For the past 3 weeks i've taken DD to a little play group at my local church. It's such a lovely group and all the mums there seem really really friendly. Anyway, the first two weeks we went DD clung to me for dear life until about the last 30 minutes. Last week she got very brave and dashed off to play as soon as we got there (we were first in). However towards the end of the session this little boy shouted at her (something like "boo") because apparently it's a thing he does to get a reaction. She pooped her pants and came running back to me. Then she got brave again and went off to play again. Later on he jumped out from a toy and shouted again and yet again she came running back. I think this is probably quite normal - playgroups can be a bit daunting after all!!

However, today's events have made me think that i've got a social-phobe or something. EVery week me and my 2 friends get together and take it in turns to host fop[r lunch. We've recently got a new mum in our group who also has a DD a month younger than my DD. She's very cute but is very boistrous (sp?) and will sometimes just go up to one of the kids and swipe at their faces. She will also sometimes just make normal shouty noises. Today we went to the new girl's house for lunch for the first time and oh my days, DD spent most of the time stuck to my lap! Then when it was lunch time, i stuck her in the high chair and because the new DC made a loud noise and so did the other DC there, my DD went into floods of tears!! I got quite cross with her, despite her being covered in snot, tears and dribble and in the end i raised my voice to her in front of my friends I'm not a shouty mum but i was just so fed up with it and i just said "Will you STOP IT!!". I felt very awful and embarrassed and a bad mummy afterwards i have to say.

Please tell me i'm not the only one with a very clingy and fragile DC?? I hope she wont be like it forever because i want her to be able to mix with other children without being covered in snot and tears in the process!!!

So sorry for the long post everyone - needed to vent.

Febes and RG - yep, Adam is no longer sweetness and light all of the time. He squeals when he wants something and I don't get it immediately, lies down on the floor and cries if something "illegal" is taken off him and runs up and bashes the TV with his toys then says "ohh!".

RG, my niece used to be like Ellie (she is now a very confident madam!) and I know a couple of toddlers in RL who are shy and quieter. Adam is very sociable but gets overwhelmed by more boisterous children. Think it is completely normal but I understand your frustration; I was getting mad with Adam today for not sharing his toys even though he has no comprehension of sharing yet!

Loopy - hope you get an afternoon nap (or is that just a silly thing to say?!)Adam was up twice in the night and in the end I gave up and popped him in bed with us where he proceeded to feed for what felt like hours. I swear he is totally addicted. He needs Boobsanon!

littleoldme · 05/03/2009 18:24

Rg - I wouldn't worry - all the kids I've known have changed so much as they grow up. Your friends were probably relieved that they weren't the only ones who are driven distraction by their Dcs.

Loopy- you must be knackered. I hope you get a good kip tonight. I've just got a free cloth nappy through the post. It's a close baby pop in. I registered for it ages ago and completely forgot. They say there are still have some to give away do it may be worth looking on thier website.

Greedy - t does that too. I usually hand him two grapes so he drops whatever he should have and grabs one with each hand!

I went out with amate last night and had a pint and half. Felt rotten this am. I really should swear of booze as I can't take it anymore at all. If only it weren't sooooo tasty.
