Loopy - I decided to clean William's high chair the other day when I hit upon a brilliant idea - put high chair in garden, get 2 cloths and bowl of warm soapy water and leave the kids to it! They had fun, I got a clean high chair, it's a win-win!

RG - what are going to spend the money on?!

William is lurking, better go before he swtiches off the compuetr

Loopy - thanx for the link I dont think you are being obsessive by still having a monitor. We have had a monitor for DD ever since she went into her own room! Even now i sit with the monitor next to me when she's asleep, even when we go to bed too, despite her being in the next room...... I think it's because we have always closed her bedroom door so that the cats didn't lay on her and suffocate her (in the early days, at least) but they dont actually go near her so i think we are worrying over nothing now. Having said that, i wouldn't put it past either of my cats to decide to snuggle up with her now - they are nightmares for sleeping on beds, given half the chance! Sorry, bit OT there, but there you go!

Jet - great idea re the highchair!! We are putting the money towards the cost of doing up the garden, which is currently like a building site due to garden walls being built, and prepping for decking etc. I just hope it gets finished before the end of the summer so that DD can actually have some benefit from it!

jetgirl · 20/06/2009 19:12

Poor William has an ear infection so has a course of his favourite (not) anitibiotics to get through. He wasn't himself last night and his breathing was a little laboured this morning so I took him to our walk-in clinic to get checked over. William cried and cried which is so unlike him and won all the nurses over. As soon as we left he was as perky as normal, I think he likes the sympathy from the nurses

So apart from that we've had a very quiet day today.

RG - I love spending money on my garden, we had ours done a couple of years ago (well DH ripped up the decking and laid a lawn, not very big but enough for the kids to enjoy running around on) it's lovely when the weather's good. I hope you get yours finished soon.

Loopy - I think I've created a cleaning monster, DD wanted to tackle the bathroom yesterday! I let her do the sink, but drew the line at the toilet

LittleMissBliss · 20/06/2009 22:36

Jet* great idea, i think we will be tackling coby's high chair could do with a deep clean. Hope William feels better soon!

We've decided not to move now as we can't find anywhere that we really like so looks like we will end up settling for something that isn't quite right. I've only got 15 weeks until my due date and don't really want to moving too close to it again as it's all too stressful, especially with a toddler too! Plus we have so much stuff now, can't face packing it all up yet!

So we are just tidying up the house. Laying new flooring, re-painting the front room (dp's on the case tonight!), new carpeting on the stairs and turning the computer room back into a babies room as we both have laptops now. So looks like another trip to Ikea is in order! I love their fabler kids collection, we got ds a big crocodile on our last visit as his room is all boat/sea side themed, he lives on his boatbed!

Hope you are all having a great weekend, off to bed as have work tomo.

RGPargy · 20/06/2009 23:11

Jet - awww poor William! Hope he feels better soon, bless him.

The wall's been built now. It just needs rendering and painting as it's been built with concrete blocks rather than bricks due to it costing about 1,000 times cheaper than using bricks lol. It doesn't look horrendous in it's bare state so it's not too sad out there.

We've got a small patch of lawn for DD to run around on too but that'll need re-turfing as the previous owners had two dogs who have made big holes in the lawn. Not good for clumsy toddlers!

LMB - think you've made a wise choice by not moving just yet. The last thing you want "in your condition" () is the stresses and strains of packing, unpacking, exchanging, completions etc etc. I think a trip to Ikea would be great therapy!!

littleoldme · 22/06/2009 18:08

Hi all -

RG - Garden sounds fab. How long will it take ?

I'd heard all that stuff about car seats too. We've got one for T that can face either way and had rear facing for as long as possbut eventually his legs got too long.

LMB - I know what you mean about moving. we've been thinking about it but TBH I really don;t think I can be bothered. Can't beileve you've only got 15 weeks left !!

Jet - hope William is on the mend soon. poor lamb.

T is obsessed with the binmen at the moment . It's really quite amusing.

RGPargy · 22/06/2009 19:50

LOM - not sure how long it will take. It can only be done bit by bit when DP isn't working so mainly one day a week. I'd say at least another 2 months At least the wall is done tho, which was the main thing i think. Next we need to get a breaker to break up some concrete in the garden, then we'll be returfing and laying the decking. I'll make sure we get pics of before and after!!.

Bless T for this binmen obsession! DD is obsessed with flies. She has a bit of a phobia of them.

All this sunshine means we've been out with our little ones I think! William is feeling much better now, thanks. He has even been happy to take his antibiotics which he normally hates and that has made the process much simpler. However, he's wanted much more booby, and little food so no-booby during the day has gone out of the window for now. Once he's finished the drugs though I'm starting the rule again!

RG - one of our garden walls is concrete blocks, I keep meaning to paint it but never seem to get round to it, I've had potato plants growing in front of it this year which has hidden much of it though. We harvested some yesterday and ate them at tea time, they were delicious!

LMB - I love the big crocodile from Ikea! I think you're right to stay put for now, moving is so stressful and you will probably get more for your current place if you're doing it up now too. Much better to wait for somewhere you really want to live.

Loopy - your get-together sounds fun, I love big family parties, one of the reasons I am so looking forward to my cousin's wedding in August.

LOM - does he like watching the lorries or is it the binmen specifically? William's thing at the moment is tickling people under the chin and making a very cute 'tickle tickle' type noise. he's also really trying to say words now. When he's bored of sitting in his high chair he says 'get down please' - well it doesn't sound exactly like that, but you know what I mean

Hi everyone haven't been on for ages been a bit manic at work, just caught up with all your news, I have missed hearing about your LOs!

I have put a boob ban in place during the day but it sometimes gets broken when I am desparate for Adam to go to sleep or when he is really upset. I am a lazy moo at heart. He is sleeping through again now so I am feeling a bit more chilled about it now.

Adam doesn't pay the bin men any attention but has taken to spying on the neighbours through the fence then shouting "hiya"! He is sooooo nosey. Got the paddling pool out for the first time the other day and he loved it, insisted on eating his lunch in there, refused to wear his hat, drank the water and screamed blue murder when it was time to in!

Poor William - hope he is feeling better.

Good plan LMB!

I think you are amazing to carry on BFing and I only gave up cause I was PG, working and knackered. Its lovely to be feeding again.

I think I have been up and down the stairs shushing babies for hours but I think they are both asleep now. Rueben is 6 weeks old now and huge!! He is growing so fast and is already out of his gowns and newborn stuff and is filling up 0-3 months clothes so won't be in them much longer.

Greedygirl · 28/06/2009 22:03

Ah how lovely Febes, we have been looking at pics of Adam as a baby and laughing because we thought that he was such a butterball at the time vut he looks tiny on the pics (although his chops were a sight to behold - Winston Churchill). Was Anabel similar?

Loopy - I have read that book too, originally it made me feel like arghh I am going to be feeding forever but now I look at him and think - so what?! Most of the time! But we have come a long, long way from feeding every 2 hours day and night.

I am doing 4 days at work next week to try and catch up! Yuk.

Loopy- I think Anabel stopped enjoying my milk once I was PG too so it made easier to stop.
Greedy- Anabel was a little baby and although she grew steadily she was and still is a small one but she has always been tall.

Greedygirl · 29/06/2009 21:45

Febes - isn't it amazing how different they all are? You'll develop a cracking set of biceps with Rueben! Toned arms are a definate plus side of the bigger babe.

Loopy - defo with you on this one; I am starting negotiations now. He will accept a biscuit instead of a feed so I am a bit !

Well I have been feeling so stressed at work that it is becoming quite funny. Me and DH had such a stupidly crap week last week which culminated in DH going to a rock night only to discover it was a jazz night instead. He hates jazz. On the plus side think we are going to book a cycling/camping holiday and I feel quite giddy about it even though I have hardly ever camped and rarely cycle! Think Adam will love it though. Any campers on this thread? It is posh camping, all pre-assembled for you, I couldn't do the putting up bit.

I'm a camper of old but haven't camped in the past few years as we don't have the gear over here but will definately be getting back into it when we go backt to NZ. My family went on camping holidays loads when we were kids at the beach and in the mountains so my dad could go fishing in the lakes. I love it.

Greedygirl · 30/06/2009 20:21

Loopy - I am intrigued why you would have to camp at work?! Can only come up with camp rep or armed forces.

Febes - camping in NZ sounds far more glam than camping in Suffolk. When do you go?
