Thought it was time for a new thread in honour of first birthdays.

Febes - that has gone quickly! Well, it has for me anyway. Really pleased that the head is facing the exit.

Jet - Hope you have good birthday tomorrow. I trust you nearest and dearest will throughly pamper you.

Greedy - hen weekend in Malaga eh. Nothing beats a bit of girly drunken debauchery.

I went out with work yesterday. I have to confess to having a slightly uncomfortable head this morning. T bless him had the good grace to sleep in until eight, bless him. I was however reminded of why I tend to avoid work's nights out; your drunk but really at work. It's made more tricky by the fact that my two direct bosses don't drink so remember everything.

I've had a lovely first week off. We've found a couple of lovely playgroups and the weather has been fab.

It's funny, I've been at my school for three years and don't feel even the tiniest bit of regret at leaving - guess that means it's the right decision.

Enjoy the sunshine one and all X

How are you ladies getting on with separation anxiety? DD hasn't been left with anyone other than MIL or DP/DS etc and now that i've started going to the gym i'm having to put her into the creche. She's not very keen on me leaving her there, by any means and it breaks my heart everytime i leave her bawling her eyes out. Today she wasn't so bad - she cried at first when i left but i was hovering outside and heard her stop crying because they let her explore the older kids' areas (they 0-2s are in a separate room, which isn't great TBH but not horrible either, IYSWIM). She was fine all the time and then when i went to collect her, they said to her "Ellie your mummy's here!" and then she burst into tears again!!

I'm finding it hard but i dont want to give up the gym (am i being selfish?) and i dont want her to think that a bit of fuss will let her get her own way either. I also dont want to "damage" her mentally, although i reckon that i'm just being dramatic by thinking that lol.

Sorry for the ramble but wanted to ask people who might know!!

jetgirl · 29/04/2009 12:55

RG - you're not being selfish at all. William doesn't mind being left at nursery, but if I leave him for 30 seconds at home in his room while I pop downstairs he screams! It's annoying, but I have to say doesn't pull at my heartstrings because i know he's just being a bit precious. he knows I'm not going anywhere just hates being alone. Ellie will get used to the creche, it's just her way of expressing annoyance at your not being there every second. No real answers I suppose, but hope it helps in some way

lom - being a SAHM is best when the weather's best I think as you can do so much with the kids. I'm glad you feel it's the right decision, I'd love to be at home more, though do enjoy my 2 days at work too.

greedy - hope you had a fun weekend

febes - glad lo is facing the right way!

I had a lovely birthday. We wnet out to an American diner, which the kids loved, and then went to my parents' for birthday cake. William gave me some new headphnes for my ipod as he ruined my other ones, and DD gave me a keyring she chose by herself - very sweet!

William is really trying to use words now, he said 'baba dada', when DH went to work this morning, and something which sounds like 'hello' everytime he gets his hands on a phone. He is also very good at throwing - he's just launched a bit of his sandwich at me from well over a metre away - and it hit! I have plans for him to play cricket for England when he's older

Febes · 29/04/2009 19:47

RG I wish Anabel was a bit more clingy she hardly gives me a second glance as soon as we are anywhere more fun and always wants to stay at the childminder instead for coming home with me.

Only one more day of work left and then I'm due next Friday . I'm happy to go over due this time as my mum arives on the 16th of May so the closer I get to then the better.

Greedygirl · 29/04/2009 20:46

FEbes I can't believe you are due next Friday!! Wow, lots of virtual babysniffing to be done on this thread. Glad your LO is facing the right way and good to go.

LOM - really glad you feel you have made the right decision re becoming a SAHM. I love being at home with Adam at this time of year, much easier to potter about and keep him happy when we can get outside. And he looks so cute in his shorts and baseball cap! Ikwym re work nights out.

RG - AJ used to scream when left with his childminder but happily goes to her now. Such a relief! It is horrible to walk away with them screaming as your natural instinct is to comfort them but once you are out of earshot bet she has a fab time then is pleased to see you again!

Jet - had a great weekend ta although i am not good at the old hen night/silly drinking now. I must admit (and I would never tell my friend this) but the highlight for me was going to the hotel spa and having the most fantastic back massage ever. And also being able to sleep off the hangover. And dancing to all the new songs that I usually just get to dance along to in the car these days. And finding a bikini that didn't make me want to weep. And coming back to my boys!!

Febes · 01/05/2009 12:44

Finished work now hurray!!! The sun is glorious here so shall we have some cocktails on the sun deck? Make mine a triple!!

LittleMissBliss · 01/05/2009 13:02

Hi all! Not sure if you remebr me from the Nov antenatal thread?

Hope you and your dc's are all well. I'm now on the Oct antenatal thread dc 2 due 5th Oct. So 17 weeks now. No where near as exciting being pregnant the second time. Ds keeps me too busy and often forget i'm pregnantlol.

Would you mind if i joind in with you guys again. Ds is at the stage of being a little so and so, he's climbing on everything and driving me bonkers! He understands me telling him 'no', 'get down' etc. But has decided that he no longer wants to listen. He understands pretty much everything i say but can only say about seven words.
'No'
'All gone'
'Oh god' (in context i spilt a cup of tea on the carpet yesterday and he came out with this gem!)
'mmm' meaning yes
count even numbers up to six (i count the odd)
'mama'
'dada'
'nana'

Any tips on how i can get him to listen to me agian? I think it would be easier if he could talk more....any advice would great.

febes congratulations! wow can't believe you are due in a week!

RGPargy · 01/05/2009 15:31

Febes - yes that sounds brilliant!! If yours is a triple, mine's a quadruple please!

LMB - hello and welcome back!! Congrats on your PG! I see that DS has developed the age old complaint of "Selective Deafness" lol. I think the speech thing is probably quite normal. I have found that although DD can say loads of words, she goes through phases of which ones she uses for a certain period of time. So for instance for two weeks she might select 5 of her favourite sayings/words. Her current favourite words are "Oh no!" to anything that she drops, loses, spills, chucks etc and "git" (which actually means "raisin" lol).

I'm not sure if this has helped DD with her speech but i've done alot of baby signing with her from an early age - maybe you could take him along to a Sing and Sign class? It might teach him to express himself better. They dont have to be babies to start the classes either. Worth a thought??

Apart from DS wearing you out, hope you are well?

littleoldme · 01/05/2009 17:55

Just a quick one as we are in pre holiday chaos. I'm trying pack faster than t is unpacking; the problem is that he's get more practised at it and getting more tired so slowing down! Will catch up properly when we get back XXX

Sounds like its been busy in the Loopy household. Poor you that must have been alot of washing! Ohhh trying for a 4th how lovely. I want at least 3 but 4 would be awesome!! (shall we see how 2 goes first )

I shall be trying out the new row row verses this afternoon. I'm sure they will be a hit.

Hi Little Miss Bliss Glad to hear you are PG with DC2 last time I chatted to you was on a TTC while BF thread. Obviously it was successful.

LOM Have a great holiday.

Anabel is starting to resist her afternoon nap which is freaking me out a little. All week at her CM she refused completely and then was totally shattered by the time I picked her up. Yesterday she did sleep 2.5 hours but today she played in her cot so I ended up getting her up and we went out for a while. She fell asleep in the car and is now in her cot asleep so glad for that but could this be the beginning of the end of her napping??? Not good timimg!! She has been great lately sleeping loads so I hope she gets back into it.

Febes · 03/05/2009 15:56

I have started using my washable nappies again today as I promised myself I would when I was finished work again. Need to save some money and I have them all sitting in a bag so makes sense to use them again. I must say I'm feeling a little smug and am finding it surprising easy to use them again.

LittleMissBliss · 03/05/2009 20:31

RGI've been well thankyou! We are on the market again. so wil be moving when pregnant again! But we have out-grown our house already and we'd like a bigger garden for the children.

Loopy poor you guys with all the sickness. there has been allot of D&V going round allot of dsc's of the children on my antenatal have had D&V and ds had it last months. But it only lasted 24hrs thank god. You feel so sorry for them.

Febes Well in the end i gave up Breastfeeding at 13 months as we weren't getting anywhere with ttc and i really. And fell pregnant the next month so not sure if it was down to stopping bf or coincidence....

littleoldme Hope you have a lurvly holiday!

Loopsy Oh wow number four! I think We'll stop at two but if i were to have more i think we would have to have four! We tried the girl method of conception so i will let you know if it has worked in two weeks when we've had the scan!

Febes · 03/05/2009 21:57

LMB I gave up Bfing a day after Anabels 1st birthday as I was 4 and a half months PG then and she was down to one feed a day and I don't think I was giving her much. She didn't mind at all and never asked for it again. As soon as I was PG she started biting me so I think the taste changed as well.
What's the girl conception method??? I'll be interested to see if this LOs is another girl or a boy. I think a boy only a few more days (hopefully) until we meet her of him.

Loopy I was imagining all mothers of boys proudly standing pool side and weeping grave side for a moment then. I think this one was me on top ovulation day but can't be too sure. Although it hasn't happened that many times so they kind of stick out in the memory . We see if that makes a boy or girl.
I would love 2 girls close together as have lots of girly clothes. They can share room and it had pink lampshade. In my family it goes girl(me), girl, boy. I'm a little scared of dealing with the willy issue. DH wants a boy this time. In fact we saw a lovely family with 3 gorgeous girls at B and Q the other day and he looked and said what a shame I think- hope -he was joking.

ooh and welcome back LMB, how exciting that you're expect number 2!

LittleMissBliss · 05/05/2009 09:30

Febes That was meant to say and i really....wanted my children to have a close age gap so had to get a move on with TTC.

Loopy I've saved all of ds's clothes just in case we have another boy! Also allot of them could be worn by a girl! Especially all the sleep suits. I admit it would be so much cheaper having two boys.

We went to Ikea yesterday which is one of my all time favourite days out lol. Found lots of ideas if we do eventually find a house we like enough to move. We got a few bits for ds's room too. There was some lovely ideas for a girls room. So may be having to make another trip up to Ikea in the near future!

Hope you all have a lovely day. A Little overcast here today.

jetgirl · 05/05/2009 13:37

LMB - Ikea in Southampton? I have a feeling you live in Bournemouth if memory serves me correctly. Anyway, I live in Southampton so if you wanted to meet up for coffee it would be cool!

LittleMissBliss · 05/05/2009 15:15

Oh that sounds lovely jetgirl

I like in Poole though but Bournemouth is in the middle for us both!

Greedygirl · 05/05/2009 20:03

hi guys
been a bit hectic here but DH watching footie so brill to catch up

welcome back LMB! congrats on the new bump and good luck with the move. We moved when I was preggers with Adam and I find myself looking at houses for sale all the time now - never happy!

Had first proper hangover on BH mon after 80s party. Went as a Robert Palmer girl (was a very frugal outfit as I just wore my own black dress etc!) and drank lots of cocktails. Felt minging and was very nasty to DH all day Monday as he didn't let me have a full lie-in even though it was MY TURN!! Does anyone else keep count of lie-ins? I am very childish maybe.

Loopy - hope the children stop passing the bug around soon. Four children! Go for it; surely 4 can't be any more hard work than 3? Is your DH in the forces?

Have a nice hol LOM!

RG - Adam says "ding-ding" for raisins! Aren't they cute. He speaks quite a bit now, mainly words beginning with B and D. He hasn't learnt to say no yet but is getting very good at shaking his head. He shook his head tonight when I tried to sing to him at bedtime! Charming.
