Sneak back from where josey. No idea what you mean

Neenz quite right re: Christmas. We've bought far too many toys when really we should have just bought a load of next size clothes. For some reason we got lots of 0-3, 3-6 and 9-12. Have mentioned to everyone and their dog that he needs clothes in the hope that everyone buys him clothes for christmas!

Josey - nothing wrong with that re: Maclaren! Whenever anyone (granny's etc) gives us a 'penny' in note form for S it goes straight into my purse for whatever he might be needing. I used to dutifully buy a toy etc as instructed but no more. Currently have a stash of about £50 which is being put aside till the real sales. The shops might be discounting now, but my previous life as a retail manager tells me that there'll be some cracking sales late december! (Dont remind me of this if I'm wrong).

Hadn't thought of vicks for S's cold josey. Have been using Olbas oil on a tissue but might get some vicks tomorrow. He's been waking up loads tonight, the poor wee might.

Essie are you ok?

EssieAStarInBethlehem · 07/12/2008 22:23

Forgive and forget, Josey?
And thanks so much for the offer of the breast pump. I've had an oversupply problem () so I need an electric one. Although it's all academic at the moment since Iestyn is a refusenik. (And I'm feeling thoroughly ashamed of my big rage and stupidity in throwing, of all things, my breastpump at the wall - the only thing which can help me by stopping me being engorged and in pain! Thickie or what?!)

To Gilberts - firstly, don't panic. Doctors tend to say it has no symptoms but that's rubbish. My brother has been the most ill with it, but I have bad spells. Don't drink alcohol if you're tired/stressed etc, as it will make it flare up big time. I'm a terrible lightweight anyway. What symptoms do you have?
I think most people are ok, and your children (if they have it) will be ok - but as you say, Olivia already has enough to cope with. Hopefully they won't have it? (Although I'm not so sure about the 2 parents thing.) Google 'gilberts web'?

On the whole I'm ok. I had horrific pregnancy sickness (and they all maintained it was just a coincidence that I had Gilbert's and yellow eyes ), and kept having LFTs, which brought my bilirubin levels up at 25ish. They were all horrified, but that was low for me!!

EssieAStarInBethlehem · 07/12/2008 22:24

Oh, and I'm ok, mad with hormones though, and flew into a stupid rage last night. It was mainly stupidity!

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 07/12/2008 22:31

having a very very large glass of wine trying to calm, why my life is always stressful I will never know!!!

My DS's sperm donner(well he calls himself a father) had him this weekend, he will be 9 on Tuesday and he did FK ALL for his birthday, took him to a family wedding as night guests and got pi**d, him not my DS lol, though I wouldnt blame him....his auntys and uncles(there are hundreds of them there are tinks) didnt even give him a card or say happy BDAY, he is so sad, IM SO ANGRY.

Snowqueen, you can rub the vicks on after 6months, but I prefer to not do only slightly if needed as can hurt there skin. when they get a bit older a blob in the bath works wonders and actually the grease is great on the skin.

Neeze thanks.

and would you all like to celebrate with me after 11 long weeks I have stopped bleeding, fingers crossed it doesnt come back until my DH returns

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 07/12/2008 22:33

Josey - glad you're back I use Vicks too and it really helps.

Essie - what's up?

Christmas - I wouldn't get Ethan much if he didn't have big brothers, but they would think it very unfair. So, he's getting a cardboard box big enough for him to sit in, which I'll cover in Christmas paper then I'm filling it with a few very cheap toys, soft book, those little leather shoes, baby sunglasses I found reduced for the glare of the snow, bowls, spoons and bibs and a cord duffle coat which I got the other day. I'm not wrapping the presents but I'll scrunch up some different sorts or paper and put that in the box , then a few blown up balloons in his sack too.

My Mum has got him one of these bearsShe recorded a message saying I love you Ethan, and said she was almost in tears in the shop when she had to kiss the heart and place it in the teddy's tummy with a wish for Ethan! I can't wait to see it. Unfortunately My Dad (they're divorced) has sent a soft squashy parcel for Ethan too - what's the guess that it's another teddy!

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 07/12/2008 22:37

Josey - I'm so sad for your son, I'm sure that you'll more than make up for the inadequacies of his father.

Happy end of bleeding - 11 weeks is a long time. Have you had a coil fitted or anything? I bled for about that long after having a Mirena fitted.

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 07/12/2008 22:40

Essie Stomack pains with me, I have been admitted to hospital and have been on morphie with pain which has been unexplained, forgetfull and lack of consentration. I have never noticed if I look yellowish!! usually grey which is a sign of thyroid I cant NOT drink lol!!! they asked if I did because it was very good on the results, to which I replyed you should of tested me a few years ago lol, infact Im generally quite a heavy weight well used to be. It says that you can be a carried of both genes so dont need both parents to have it. I am also RH- so have completely buggered up blood. My doc was actually supprised no one had ever mentioned it to me.

neenztwinz · 07/12/2008 22:41

I was gutted yesterday when my MIL (who usually showers us with gifts at Christmas) said 'I am not getting the adults much this year now the babies are here' (my DH's two siblings have both had babies in the last year too).

I was thinking 'but they are only babies, they don't understand, I want the presents!!!!'

My mum is giving us the full hit and is only spending a small amount on the babies

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 07/12/2008 22:45

I'm afraid that's how it is Neenz!!I never get teddies bought for me now - just Ethan - SOB

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 07/12/2008 22:46

Olivia is getting everything that makes horrible noises are flashy and bright!!! currently my house is like the cross between a gypsy caravan and a bad 80s disco, the VT complimented me though and asked when she comes back can she take photos as I am the only mother that has got it just right and pics of what I have are better than her explaining

Any money Oli gets will be stored for speciallist equipment she might not get from the OT

I went to tesco today and it suddenly hit me how will I do my shopping when she out grows her car seat or the baby hardback trolly seats

There are lots of ops the same as olis that have just been done on the SN threads, thats why Im on so late incase you think im doing heehaw xxx

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 07/12/2008 22:47

Your house sounds fantastic Josey, post the photos onhere too.

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 07/12/2008 22:49

Debs His father is a waste of space, and the hardest thing is seeing DS defend him all the time he is such a little angel.

I had the implant as they wont give DH the snip of me because of Olivia, though you would think that would be a bloody good reason. and It wasnt just spotting so its been really grim.

Unfortunately that is also a sign of the underactive thryroid, I had this after DS but it was like a cycle in reverse so one week off IYKWIM

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 07/12/2008 22:52

Neeze lol my MIL every year buys me PJs and My dh a next voucher, every every year.

Been trying to post pic's but my comp will no longer shrink the pics, for some reason, and I do sensory baths with Olivia, where I cover her with bubbles and she looks like a snow baby, she loves it.

As Im chilling will try and sort my comp and get some on.

DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 08/12/2008 08:01

Sensory bath sounds fantastic Josey. I don't need to shrink my photos to put them on my profile, I do on some sites but not this one.

Morning to everyone else, rough night here, with Ethan waking lots and Tristan waking in between.Painting and playing in the snow on the agenda here today as boys have a long weekend, what are you up to?

neenztwinz · 08/12/2008 08:52

Morning Deb, your post last night that ended SOB - I thought you were calling your DS a son of a bitch , then I realised you just meant 'sob' (I think)

Sympathies on the bad night, I had one on Saturday (up at 12.30,2,2.30,3,3.45 and 5am!) but last night the Medised did the trick. They both woke at 10pm having gone to sleep fine at 7pm. They wouldn't settle (very snuffly and struggling to breathe) so I gave them 2.5ml Medised each and Ester slept till 6am and Theo till 8am. It's magic!

Josey - I can just see your house now looking like a garish nightclub

bitofasnowqueen · 08/12/2008 09:01

Josey - hurrah on the end of bleeding! My mum is both rh- and thyroid problems, she's on tablets for life with the thyroid. Occasionally if she's feeling a bit out of sorts she'll get it checked and will need her medication adjusted.

Christmas presents - someone we've been buying presents for as well as their child has this year said 'oh shall we just get the kids this year' - I think the credit crunch is taking its toll so I understand... BUT feel cheated that we've always bought whole family and now we've got kids only S will get present. I'm selfish I know

My Granny also gets all the women in the family the worst presents (line dancing CASETTE in the mid-90's anyone?) but the boys always do fine (so S will be ok).

Essie re breast pump, I've got a medela electric swing pump that was only used for about 4 weeks (plus 3 spare medela bottles). I'd love to be really selfless and offer it to you, but I was planning on selling it (whenever I got round to taking some photos of it) to help pay for new nappies. The 2nd hand ones have been going for between £50 - £60 on ebay, but would be happy to sell the lot to you for £45 inc postage if you're interested? I wont be offended if you're not though!

Right the real reason I came on to post today....

Drum roll....

Keep scrolling...

DH bought me a creme egg at the shop this morning!

OP posts:
DreamingOfMincePiesInAustria · 08/12/2008 09:06

lol Neenz - I was crying not calling my baby names!!!!

snowqueen - - is there something you need to share?any particular cravings?

everyone with older children you must do this
a personal santa message, my boys loved it and thought it was really santa on his webcam to them

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 08/12/2008 09:35

snowqueen, if essie is interested then sheb shuld get first dibs, but if not, I'm interested!

Josey - yes, lets all see those photos!

EssieAStarInBethlehem · 08/12/2008 10:02

Oh, no, a dilemma for Snowqueen - yes, I will buy your pump! (Sorry Sybil but it's up to Snowqueen and she could vote in your favour - my sob story is quite good but it's also really stupid because if I am going to go into a rage it's best to break non-essential items!)

Things are not so bad here now - new week, new me. But Iestyn still won't take the bottle. I'm really worried about it now - he was fine on Friday night, but by Saturday night had refused and has refused ever since. Mind you, he slept till 4am without his top up.

And sorry for my misery - I always did get a bit down with PMT, but it's out of control these days.

Going to quilt a small cot quilt now, and considering going to Woolies - 50% off everything. (Might also nip to The Pier...)

Has anyone bought a kitchen from IKEA? Any good?

hedgeHogfather · 08/12/2008 10:16

morning all,

thanks for the messages we are still not better and have been co sleeping because Isaac has been waking for feeds. Mum and MIL did the classic oh you must wean him ASAP, and then yesterday he tried to grab my toast so as I speak he is sitting in his highchair gumming it to death.

On the cold front I am using snuffle babe for Isaac which is like vicks and I also smear some on me as well.

I am off to the dentist (again) later on as he is trying to do all this work on my teeth while it is free so I am spending a lot of time in a building with no lifts and carting the car seat up and down 4 flights of stairs is no fun.

essie Isaac went through a phase of refusing bottles so I put a bigger teat on them and now he is fine - might be worth a shot?

Did read everything else but have forgotten what I wanted to say - little bit preoccupied with the weaning going on

Jollyjoseyjinglebells · 08/12/2008 10:22

Have uploads some pics, dont have any of the funki disco lights yet though lol!!!!

Debs that was fab, it has scared the living daylights out of my DD!!!

Essie could he possibly be teething or have a sore throat?

Woolies 50% off is a con it has in very small print up to 50% off, my friend when on Sat at there was fights at the tills

neenztwinz · 08/12/2008 10:38

Snowqueen I felt a bit like that re presents when my sisters said to me this year 'shall we just buy for the kids' because they all have kids (I have three sisters) and for years I have been buying for them, their husbands and their kids, but now I have kids only my kids get presents not me. But then when I didn't have to think of gifts for three sisters and three husbands (and the money I saved) I thought it was the best idea!

at fights at Woolies.

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 08/12/2008 10:42

Essie, no worries, you were there first.

I can't get to Woolies, and their website in unobtainable -just think of all those bargains I am missing

bitofasnowqueen · 08/12/2008 10:47

Crikey Debs don't scare me!!!!

Re: breastpump - ah, moral dilemma! Am thinking that I should honour my offer to Essie. Essie, do you want to give me you email address or CAT me and we can organise it?

Sorry you're having disturbed nights HH. I'll look into snufflebabe. S still has cold and is being very 'hangy' (not sure if this is an expression used much outside the little corner of Glasgow I came from) so we're having a duvet day. Hence the creme egg. HAd planned to go into town and do some shopping though so a bit fed up. Not keen on dragging S round the shops while its so cold though

I haven't bought a kitchen from Ikea but know people who have and they seem happy. If you're getting a quote to get it fitted make sure that there are absolutely no extras to be added on - in our last flat we got a new kitchen and there were loads of extra charges for moving sockets etc that really should have been in the quote. We really got stung, but had never had a brand new kitchen fitted before so didn't think about these things.

Great pics Josey.
