Coolkat I am also wanting to make 'baby friends' as have only been over in Lincolnshire for 2 1/2 years so have joined a group called Baby Peep and went last week for the first time. Felt a bit of a nutter as all the other mums knew the words the songs but Esme loved the lights and singing. We are also going to meet up with someone i met in hospital etc.. I have turned into a bit of a nutter as i come home asn tell DH that i have found someone who can be my friend today...

Pinkali37 · 23/12/2008 21:32

Coolkat, where are you?

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 23/12/2008 22:19

pinkali, my friend picked up someone is Sainsbury's. She noticed she was wandering around looking dazed with a little baby like she was and just started chatting. They are still friends one year on , and I am now friends with the sainsbury's lady as we are in the same swimming class. she brought me a meal when DS2 was tiny.

My main new Year's resolution is to get out to more groups. I think DD will really benefit from it and I can get a bit of rest from her while she makes a mess that someone else will have to tidy up

littlesaintNIC · 24/12/2008 00:23

Hi everyone. Sorry it's been a while and I haven't caught up, just scanned the posts.

PIL are down for Christmas so I'm too busy sleeping at every opportunity to look at the pc. MIL takes J whenever she can so I can rest!! And she's cleaned the bathroom and done the ironing!!!

Had my 6 week check - need to stoop bending and stretching... Ooops....

Obs I noticed the reflux post and have a few comments... HM2J the Gaviscon should come after a breast feed, I think you said you give it before but maybe I misread. It comes after a feed as it sort of turns into glue and plugs the food down in the tummy.

I have taken J back to the docs and he's being referred as I want them to consider putting him on Ranitidine. It's blooming great for adults so, if it works the same way, I want it for him. He is capable of sleeping 5 / 6 hrs now (he's managed it a few time) but he starts making choking noises and I think it's when he's digested the food and the acid is working it's way up again. If this continues I'll have to wake him to feed him (as I did last night) so I can give him Gaviscon!!! It's too tiring to do that for the next year or so (God I hope it doesn't last that long!!)

Does anyone else ignore their refluxing baby unless he / she cries? I'm not sure what to do. I'm going to ring the doc to ask tomorrow. DH and I disagree - he says pick him up, I say leave him unless he cries. I think that if he's not crying then it's not painful so let him and ME rest. But am I being selfish??????

OblomovOYeFaithful · 24/12/2008 07:42

Merry Christmas Everyone.
I echo Coolkats lovely message.
It has been a total priveledge ladies. And I look forward to your company in 2009.

OblomovOYeFaithful · 24/12/2008 07:49

MummyNic, thank you for your post. Yes, I too have been giving the gaviscon at all sorts of times. Pre feed, post, Way after a feed - when he screams, only becasue I assumed if he was in pain, it seemed a good idea.
He is now very constipated. I know this is a side effect of gaviscon. But what do you actually, DO ?

I mentioned this when I went to my GP last night. She said just to give gaviscon all the time and not to worry about the constipation .
I went to GP, becasue I needed more gaviscon and didn't want to run out over Christmas - although I appreciate you could buy it over the counter.
Plus, seeing as it was spotted at A&E, there, they told me to ask my GP to refer me. SO she said she would and dictated a letter.

He was inconsolable last night. Awake from 7pm-12. Mostly crying. But then slept from 12-4.30am. so that is something.

Off now to hospital for tongue tie specialiast, and then an x ray on testicle.

Wishing all of you the very best.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 24/12/2008 09:03

Good Luck at the hospital Obs, and I hope your journey into town isn't too horrendous.
Can you buy infant gaviscon over the counter? i thought it was only available on prescription.

It goes from bad to worse here.....Bumble was up from 10 until 3 last night, slept 3.5 hours and then up at 6.30 to start the day He is almost completely nocturnal...help.

I am off to brave Sainsbury's soon as DH didn't get all we needed at Morrison's last night. Taking the Nipper out for it's first test run. Beginning to think this testing was a bad idea as we got a mamas and papas aria plus car seat delivered this morning and the boxes are huge.

and I'm coming down with the lurgy as well, although boobs back to normal today.

Right, I probably won't get on later as we have a huge amount of stuff to do, so HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS and I hope Santa is good to everyone

It has been lovely getting to know everyone over the last year and I hope we are all still chatting when our LOs are ready for school . I'm looking forward to meeting some of you in the New Year as well.

Take Care everyone xx

JingleBuzz · 24/12/2008 09:55

MerryCRICRIstmas · 24/12/2008 14:01

Merry Christmas everybody Hope you all have a lovely day with your families and new LOs. I'm so looking forward to E's 1st Christmas
I just hope she sleeps better than last night - Obs and Daisy I sympathise! She started crying at 8.30 and I eventually got her settled at 1.30am... Don't know what it was, she had another screaming fit like she's been having recently in the evenings. Oh well, hopefully tonight will be better - off to my Mum's for the traditional French Christmas dinner which takes place on the 24th then round to my sister's tomorrow for the English version. Double dose of lovely food
I also wanted to thank Heartmum for the Mummy looks fab website details. I ordered a lovely black dress which arrived yesterday and will be perfect for tomorrow.
Thanks also to Misdee for the swing seat idea - E fell asleep in hers yesterday lunchtime and if it hadn't been for an exploding poo (nice!) I think she would have slept for longer than 45 minutes. We're taking it with us tomorrow in the hope that she'll settle whilst we're having Christmas dinner!
Daisy Hope your bf pain has eased and that Sainsbury's wasn't too much of a nightmare. DH went earlier and he said it was quiet compared to what he was expecting!
Obs Hope you got on OK at the hospital.
Pinky Hope Imi is better today after her jabs.
Margot Glad you're going to be able to go to your parents' after all and hope DH is recovered enough to enjoy Christmas
Hi to everyone else and I'd also like to say how great everybody on this thread has been - here's to a great 2009 for us all Have a lovely Christmas everyone.

coolkat · 24/12/2008 15:24

Pinkali I am in leicestershire, town where pork pies are famous - near Lincolnshire depending which side you are?

Rosa · 24/12/2008 15:30

Hello ,
I wanted to come on and wish you all a lovely Christmas . I haven't been on this thread for a week or so as have been up to eyeballs in everything and have had very little computer time.
I hope that the nights get better for you all and although I think we have all been given the best present ever may you find something special under the tree ...Even if it has been made by your dcs !!!!
Hope to catch up with you all soon.
Rosa in a foggy and very cold Venice x

dingdongDOZYMAREishigh · 24/12/2008 16:40

afternoon my lovely ladies - very quick [post form me as still masses to do....wanted to echo the support and love on this thread - long may it continue!! Just taken all 3 kids to church, DS1 was a nightmare - really showing off in front of his classmates and had a full on tantrum (so no, I ain;t no supernanny...I pinched his arm and whispered in a very quiert, stern voice to "zip it or I would march him to the front, pull his shorts down and smack him on the bottom in front of all his friends - he soon shut it !!!)

Anyway, love to you and your's will try and get on here when I can to catch up......

Chin Chin and God bless xxx

AwayInaMargot · 24/12/2008 16:50

Merry xmas everyone. DH still in bed but hoping he is fit to travel in the morning.

Hope you all have a super time. Cricri your French supper followed by english xmas sounds superb!

littlesaintNIC · 24/12/2008 17:45

Obs use Gaviscon after every feed, make it up straight away after and feed it to him. Get someone to hold him straight up while you prepare it - or prop him up somewhere safe.

It has made J slightly constipated although the HV did say that the number of poos would lesson soon so I'm not sure. What I have noticed is that his poo is like peanut butter rather than watery BF poos and it keeps hiding under his balls!!!!

It's important to do it after the feed as it plugs and it mixes with the milk in his tummy. There is sodium in it so it needs to mix well with the milk as he'd have to absorb straight sodium without the milk which isn't good for them at all.

Are you doing GF? I am and the feed - bath - feed was a problem due to the limit of 6 in 24hrs. I have split one dose in half to combat this - his weight means he can have 2 packets so he has 1 after the first feed and the other after the second - stops him being sick while I bath him. All other doses are just 1.5 packets (trying to avoid uping the dose unles he REALLY needs it). I hope that makes sense.

Doing it that way means you do 5 a day and have 1 in reserve for a middle of the night feed.

Spoke to doc - he said let him gurgle / make choking noises, only pick him up if he's distressed. Few, that's what I was doing!!

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone. I'm going to midnight mass without J - how scary!!!!

Pinkyminkee · 24/12/2008 18:58

Just wanted to wish everyonea very Happy Christmas and New Year!

the reindeer food is on the lawn and mysanta's mincepies and single malt are in the sitting room. Just hope DS stays asleep!

hope the lurgies clear and everyone has a fabby holiday! xx

barbareebaa · 24/12/2008 20:20

Happy Christmas to you all!

I would also like to say thanks for all your words of advice and support!!!

Have a great time

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 24/12/2008 20:29

WE have carrots, water and cat nibbles for the reindeer, and milk and a bag of crisps for Santa

DS1 didn't want to leave him whisky as "you can't drink and drive" and the crisps because "he must get fed up with all those mince pies". You can't fault his logic

I have come down with the flu lurgy....feel awful and still have all santa's my wrapping to do. It's going to be a long night, especially as the kitchen floor wants cleaning, as does the bathroom and toilet ahead of our visitors tomorrow. Hey ho.

Merry Christmas everyone

tistheCEEBEEtobejolly · 24/12/2008 20:57

Just checking in to say Merry Christmas to everyone I hope you all enjoy your first Christmas with your lo's and family.

Just want to echo that I can't believe we didn't 'know' each other this time last year but it really has been a pleasure getting to know you all and chatting - long may it continue

Daisy really hope you feel better tomorrow - there is nothing worse than having the lurgy at Christmas

We haven't left Santa anything - we thought DS1 understood and would want to but he didn't even want to hang his stocking up, let alone anything else!!

Have had a very productive day whilst DS1 was at nursery - DH cleaned the house from top to bottom, the presents are under the tree, the table is laid - and me and DH are sharing a bottle of champagne whilst Sam is laid on his gym falling asleep

Anyway, again, Merry Christmas

vbab78 · 24/12/2008 21:12

HELLO LADIES. Really sorry but not been on for days and as a result have missed a lot. Really sorry but not got time to read all the posts now but will try to catch up later. Hugs to anyone who may need them.
ME update ... things good with DS and A . Can sometimes be other end of scale with DS but except for a mad 10 mins he's been an angel today. This AM A was crying for her feed and I was trying to make it. I turned around and saw DS with his finger in her mouth. I told him off then realised he had put his strawberry milk on his finger and tried to feed her. ARRR . He really does love her to bits and it may sound weird but when they are together you can see the connection and she will go from screaming to asleep by him just being at the side of her.
A been on 2nd stage (3+ month) teats for a few days now. Still having small then massive feeds but definitely more alert and not falling asleep during every feed. I feel like she has been on this earth before with the looks she gives at just 6 weeks old. Still having a feed 10.30pm ish then waking 2-3am. But the 5am seems to have now moved to 7am since the change in teat . Not sure why as no change in feed amount.
DS (2 and 6 months) has left a can of beer and a mince pie out for Father Christmas and reindeer food (pretend we arent posh). But DS wanted to eat the mince pie .
Just wanted to wish everyone a very happy and hopefully relaxed christmas. MERRY CHRISTMAS.

ChocOrange05 · 25/12/2008 13:59

Merry Christmas everybody!!

Thanks for all the wonderful advice, help and support you have all provided over the last 10 months - it really is a pleasure and a priviledge to know you all. I know pregnancy and parenthood would be a million times harder without you guys.

Hope you are all having wonderful christmas's wherever you are. x

reluctantincubator · 25/12/2008 22:42

merry xmas all! hope you have all had a fab day with your LO's (best early xmas pressies ever).

barbareebaa · 26/12/2008 08:35

happy Boxing Day one and all!!

Sorry to post on boxing day but I could really use some advice if anyone can help me..
Think I got thrush in my nipples (thanks daisy for suggesting I may have it) All the symptoms were there on Christmas Eve so rushed to the dr and she prescribed daktarin for us both.
Yesterday Will just wanted to feed (owowowow) (making nipples sorer )so have become very engorged over night. Noticed, during the night, that have hard area on left boob so just fed from that side to try to shift it. Also there is a red patch below nipple. Lump/ hard area still there and I don't know whether to continue giving him that side or swap to the other - will I make problem worse i.e. encorage more milk production and therefore worse engorging if I don't swap? Also now other boob appears to have blockage.
Am sore and miserable. Has been quite a testing 24 hours and I think it's going to get worse before it gets better. Poor dh. Not a good first Christmas I think!

Sorry to be depressing but would so appreciate any advice. Trust me to get in a pickle when all drs are shut!

xxx

barbareebaa · 26/12/2008 08:37

have just copied my post to feeding thread too.

barbareebaa · 26/12/2008 08:56

DAISY Sorry, didn't mean for that to sound sarky - I do mean "thanks" as you diagnosed my problem, and hopefully it'll get sorted now

Yorky · 26/12/2008 15:46

Here's hoping everyone had a very Happy Christmas yesterday.
Today has been better for me as DD slept for 5.5 hrs so I got a lie in (nice apart from the lumps of concrete my boobs turned into!) then we went out for lunch, DH has taken DS to the park and we'll finish opening presents when they get back. Yesterday was stockings, church, motorway, inlaws, more motorway, other half of inlaws and late home. Today is just lazy and holiday
I am only 1.5hrs from the trafford centre according to multimap, is there a meet-up in the pipieline?
Good luck with the thrush Barb, DD seems to have quite a lot of white on her tongue - is that a symptom?
