Here we go. I thought the title was apt as ds2 has morhed into a stroppy little horror overnight. His favourite expression at the moment is 'I cwoss with you, I sceam at you AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH' .

Happy Birthday ToddlerJabber and ToddlerEli .

DD is poorly again. I swear every bug in the vicinity has some kind of magnetic attraction to her . She has a bit of a temp, headache and earache today. I need to buy shares in Calpol and Medised I think.

Aoa, hotel is a very good idea - go for a posh one so you can have a vvvv hot, deep bath!

LenniEd · 02/01/2009 23:12

Eli - I'm still here. Hope you are ok. Is she actually waking? It must be so hard to listen to.

Am not tired really, too much sleep earlier so might be around house for a while. Will leave laptop on anyway. And apologies in advance if I fall straight asleep.

accessorizequeen · 02/01/2009 23:17

You must be getting really fed up now Lennied but just think he's only days away from your arms. mine are so big already, I loved being able to hold them together. Sigh.

Just had first night out (in 5 months!) to see bond film and it stopped halfway through due to 'technical problems'. Arggh.Still was nice, and will go some way to makign things with dp & I better. Bless my mum (again).

Indith, I shall pack a bag of bright coloured girly things for you, do you want me to post to you or is your mum coming up shortly? I assume you're not making it down for a little while Poor dd & her cold, it's a b*&&er when they get them so young, dd was the same, I stuck an olbas tissue under the sheet but she woke up covered in snot every time.

accessorizequeen · 02/01/2009 23:18

Oh, poor dd2, Elibean. How do you keep on with no sleep ever??

LenniEd · 02/01/2009 23:22

Hello AQ, not so much fed up, as run down. I'll be getting all emotional before long, and then DH won't know what's hit him haven't done the hormonal wreck thing much this pregnancy, but then I really wore that one out last time! I will send you pictures to coo over - talking of which have you any new ones of the twins? You must have some nice crimbo ones??

Night out how do you do it?? You really are superwoman. I am in awe. Although not of the cinema. I hope this means you get another night out to watch the second half.

bebespain · 03/01/2009 06:11

Happy New Year everybody! Sorry its a little late

Hope you´re feeling OK (ish) LenniEd and its not long for you now...

Hope the ABs have kicked in for you Indith and you´re feeling more like your normal self. Lovely name BTW.

Came back to Spain on Weds, felt terrible Thurs and diagnosed with Bronchitis yesterday. Been given ABs, was a bit concerned but she reassured me they are safe in the 2nd trimester. The worse thing is DS seems to have picked something up, he´s been up most of the night with a roaring temp. Have left him downstairs now with DH while I come back to bed to rest, (and have a sneaky MN)

babypowder · 03/01/2009 09:56

LenniEd, hope you got some rest last night. And Eli too. And hope the ABs kick in soon, bebespain. Bronchitis is so exhausting.

(Are any of us actually sleeping at the moment?)

AQ, am very jealous of your night out. DH and I haven't been out on our own at night since DD2 was born Must remedy that quickly!

Eli, can I ask a really self-obsessed question? When you were taking your steroids did you put on loads of weight quickly? I've put on more than half a stone since december, and now I seem to be gaining about a pound a day I know that some of it is fluid retention as I lost a few pounds after finishing the constant course 2 weeks ago, but this is ridiculous. I look horrid and it's really getting me down.

Elibean · 03/01/2009 11:12

Quick one, not dressed yet (up every 2 hours all night with dd, including one 1.5 hr stint, back to looking forwrad to 13th). Yes, BP, fear not, I really really did, its normal. I took them during first trimester of pg, and both times put on at least 1lb per week (I know I was pg, but most people don't gain much if anything first trim) and went from quite thin to voluptuous

It melts away when you stop, almost as fast as it arrives.

LenniEd, you are a love, I turned off my computer after posting hope you got some kip!!

Poor Bebespain, hope you get well soon, horrid even when not pg.

dh let me sleep till 9.30 (then dd1 jumped on me saying 'rise and shine' in her best mummy voice) so not as brave as I sound, AQ, but thanks! I always think the same about you

LenniEd · 03/01/2009 12:56

BP - I took steroids while trying to conceive DD (so that I could come off my arthritis meds to try and conceive) and had to carry on taking them until end of 1st trimester. I gained a lot of weight but it wasn't really 'fat' weight iyswim. Went very puffy, loads of fluid retention plus my skin kind of looked taut like I had been inflated. It went quite quickly with the exception of a few pounds. I had to watch my appetite though, I went mad eating when I was on a high dose, was constantly hungry. Seem to remember it being easier when I was on a low weaning dose. Drinking plenty of water is supposed to help with both appetite and fluid retention.

Eli - glad you survived the night just about and roll on the 13th, I fell asleep quite quickly and not so much as a twinge all night. Get yourself in bed early tonight, don't get run down before the op, will make it all seem more stressful if you are tired.

babypowder · 03/01/2009 15:30

Thank you, both. I feel much more reassured now. I may be digging out my maternity gear at this rate ...

DH and DD1 are at the panto this afternoon - it's always a fabulous production and the last show is so much fun for everyone. Am very , but I know that DD2 would never sit through the whole thing. So she and I have taken down all the decorations, hoovered up the pine needles (although I'll still be finding them until next November), and done a mega run to the recycling centre to get rid of all the cards and cardboard.

We bought DD2 a mini Henry hoover for Christmas, and she takes great delight in showing me how much her hoover picks up. Hopefully DH will be so impressed he'll finally give in to my request of a Henry for my birthday . Hers is certainly more effective than the Dyson we pretend to use.

castlesintheair · 03/01/2009 18:30

HNY everyone. Have I missed anything good?

jabberwocky · 03/01/2009 19:43

Oh I remember the hunger cravings from steroids. It's really incredible. I thought about food all the time

babypowder · 03/01/2009 20:22

I think about food all the time even without steroids

LenniEd · 03/01/2009 22:16

HNY Castles.

I think about food a lot too BP! Not as bad as DH though who will often ask me what we're having for tea tomorrow night when we get in bed

Elibean · 03/01/2009 22:24

HNY Castles

I don't think about food much, I just eat it

Steroids whilst pg are the ultimate in creeping downstairs at 1am for porridge, 3am for toast and tea, 5am...well, you get the picture. Coming off them I remember feeling weird, a bit irritable (dh says a lot ) and headachey.

andaSOLOnewyear · 04/01/2009 01:04

I'm broody!!!!!!

babypowder · 04/01/2009 10:54

Know how you feel, Solo

HNY Castles! Are you well?

LenniEd · 04/01/2009 16:16

Mmmm, just been out for lovely meal. Am getting very twitchy about public places tho just in case my waters go... think I might hide away in my house for a few weeks now. Going out suddenly feels like such a trial.

Hope all well and had good weekends

accessorizequeen · 04/01/2009 20:43

I think about food AND eat huge amounts of it.I know bfing two but still could have lost another stone the amount I scoff quite easily.

Indith, parcel of clothes awaiting dispatch, I have loads of newborn stuff, mind she doesn't get too big. Have parcel for you too Lennied, if I ever manage to wrap it in brown paper & label it!

Happy new Year!

ELM · 04/01/2009 21:35

Hi Ladies,

Hope you don't mind the intrusion... was aound for a while on the antenatal thread.. have DS born Dec 2006... and gingerly starting to think about another DC!
I'm back at work after a Christmas break tomorrow, and absolutely dreading it so decided to take my mind off of it by logging on to MN.

AnneOfAvonlea · 04/01/2009 21:43

Hello ELM

Hi everyone else. DH at work so I'm on MN. DD2 starts pre-school tomorrow [happy] Not sure how I feel about it. I think she is excited by it but she also thinks I should stay for the session with her

Anyway, enough smileys. Hope you are all well.

castlesintheair · 04/01/2009 21:55

Is that pre-pre-pre-school AA? Don't think they have such a thing round here (sadly).

I skim-read BP and thought you were pg again, but I see you are not! Hope you are bearing up

Lennied, still in-tact I see

We had a week away after Xmas. Great fun for the DCs. Am so exhausted though. My tests came back all negative so it appears I am just prone to swooning and exhaustion ... . My depression is getting very bad again. Could be seasonal [hopeful emoticon] Poor DH. I think he is looking forward to going back to work on Tuesday

How is DD2 Eli? Are you ok?

Everyone else? Indith, how is DD? Is it reflux? Girls are prone to it according to my statistics.

AnneOfAvonlea · 04/01/2009 22:06

Castles - It is a pre-school that takes them from age 2. Surprised me too as I was looking around for next September but I think it will do her (and me) some good.

AnneOfAvonlea · 04/01/2009 22:07

Sorry about your test results. Could you try visiting some alternative medicine type person? I found cranial-sacral therapy very good a few years ago.

Olihan · 04/01/2009 22:09

HNY everyone - LenniEd, can't believe you're still pg, I was so sure I'd come back to a baby announcement. Nice to have a slightly bgger gap between birthdays though .

I've finally finished my cake making marathon - the results are on my profile! I was pleased with all of them but dh/fil's joint was my favourite - you'll see why!

DH and I have just come back from a child free weekend at a VERY posh hotel near Bristol (Thornbury Castle) with the PILs and SIL & her dp. It was just the most luxurious place to stay - four poster beds, roaring log fires, very attentive staff, beautiful food - I could really get used to staying in places like that more often (yeah, right, like that's going to happen ). Oh, and Chris Evans (from Radio 2) was there on the friday night with his very pg wife and a gorgeous Ferrari. I've finally seen a real sleb .

Bebe, hope you're feeling better and ds has improved.

Indith, beautiful birth story - I'm very of it, I'd love to have had a home birth. Name is lovely too. Please can we have FB photos soon? Glad the infection is better - I bet dd will settle when the ABs finish. Have you looked at the pre/probiotics you can get for infants? They're supposed to be really good.

BP, hopefully the steroids will help and all the swelling will go away as soon as you ease off the dose. Can sympathise with the enormous appetite and I don't have a good excuse like yours .

I think I'm going to wean ds2. He's had a couple of nights/mornings with a bf while I was away so when he asked for it at bedtime tonight I followed Jabber's example and told him it had finished. He wasn't bothered so hopefully it will be untraumatic for both of us. I've kind of had enough and it's starting to feel weird bfing such a vocal, large toddler. Not sure why but I feel odd about it. Hmmm, we'll see what happens.

Olihan · 04/01/2009 22:13

That was an epic .

Castles, sorry the tests were neg. Depression probably is seasonal though, mine got significantly worse this time last year. Would you consider going back on ADs for a while?

AoA, am very of the preschool. I think ds2 would also benefit hugely from something simialr but it's 2.9yo minimum here.
