Here we go. I thought the title was apt as ds2 has morhed into a stroppy little horror overnight. His favourite expression at the moment is 'I cwoss with you, I sceam at you AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH' .

Happy Birthday ToddlerJabber and ToddlerEli .

DD is poorly again. I swear every bug in the vicinity has some kind of magnetic attraction to her . She has a bit of a temp, headache and earache today. I need to buy shares in Calpol and Medised I think.

Aoa, hotel is a very good idea - go for a posh one so you can have a vvvv hot, deep bath!

Indith, that sounds so tough, don't know what to suggest to help, hopefully the bfc will spot an easy to fix issue.

AQ, I am in absolute awe that you have managed to bf twins for 5 months while also having 2 other dcs to look after. Please don't feel bad about stopping, you've done amazingly.

LenniEd, phew that the spurt has eased off and at expressing 6oz off one side. Blimey! Chester Zoo is fab, isn't it? I love the elephants and the orangs. Ds1 thinks the bat cave is fab whereas I'm a bit less keen, owing to a massive slight phobia of flying things .

Castles, career? What's that then?

Well, we are back from the Express Clinic. Talked to my brother who is a doctor and he said we just really needed to go to make sure it wasn't RSV/flu/ear infection/any other nastiness. So...it wasn't any of those thank goodness. We are doing children's benadryl, mucinex, tylenol (alt with ibuprofen) and have a prescription to fill for tomorrow if he isn't quite a bit better as his ears were red but not officially infected iykwim.

I am exhausted. This all started Wed night and I have been up most of the night with him every night. Ds1, though ill, has been sleeping through fairly well.

Okay, so that's my rant for the day.

Indith, I can so sympathize. Ds1 was just a nightmare to bf I didn't manage to get through it and have always wished I had seen a bfc before giving up and going to exclusive expressing.

Thanks for the positive house thoughts, castles. At least we have already done the move. The house has been mostly empty since last summer. Just a few things we left to stage it for the viewings.

eli, sorry to hear your dh has asthma problems again. I hate it when mine is acting up. Makes you feel so vulnerable.

Indith · 24/02/2009 10:42

Am sitting here with hands over nipples. Pierced? You let someone drive a needle through your nipple? I clearly missed that part of teenage rebellion

Expressing sounds impressive. Am hand expressing about 2 or 3oz most mornings at the moment. I still remember with pride the morning I expressed 9oz after a feed with ds though!

The HV was supposed to call yesterday but didn't. Grr. Shall give them a ring again today.

LenniEd · 24/02/2009 13:04

And my tongue and my eyebrow! Who'd of thunk it. Proper rebellion, not sure anyone noticed though thankfully it didn't last long.

Poor DS Jabber, we've had a sickly bunch of kids this year haven't we? Hope the house goes through as planned, am sure that will be a weight off.

I loved the bats Oli, DD wasn't so sure. I can't wait to go again. I'm not a massive fan of animals in captivity but we all had a really good day. DD liked the monkeys best, esp the ones that hang by their tails. There were loads of babies too.

Eli - people dying is one subject I dread having to deal with. I pray that I don't have to for a good while yet.

castlesintheair · 24/02/2009 17:59

Oooh, get you Lennied. Wot a rebel

Poor Jabber's DS's. Hope they are better soon.

Re the dying thing: it doesn't get much easier as they get older either as DS (7) needs to know all about reincarnation etc/what happens to the body (going to heaven and hell just isn't good enough). Sometimes I wish I was a staunch catholic (or some religion) so I could just say to my DCs "this is what happens, so shut-up" or words to that effect I cringe at playgroups when they sing that song "If I were a butterfly ..." I want to pipe up "haven't your heard of Darwin?". Apologies if I have offended anyone. Am agnostic and extremely open-minded

DS's bf came out of the loo the other day asking "what if it's all a dream?"

Elibean · 24/02/2009 19:17

Ah yes, what if?

Indith, I think any hand expressing is impressive. I never managed more than a couple of drips that way, but regularly churned out 6oz feeds with beloved Medela..

LenniEd, I did dreadful things to myself in the name of rebellion, but even I couldn't quite bring myself to go beyond ears where piercing was concerned. Respect.

Jabber, poor dses...and poor you, sounds exhausting. Hope you get some peace of mind, leading to rest, tonight. And congrats on the house in the current climate thats no mean feat!

I have minor blues. Combination of morning spent on toilet with dd1's gastroenteritis thingy (now mine, that is) and hearing dismal news on the house moving front. Ah well, not the end of the world though.

jabberwocky · 25/02/2009 15:01

Ouch at the pierced nip LenniEd. I do have an outwardly very conservative friend who pierced her, errm, you know...down there

castles, I know what you mean about feeling sometimes a twinge of envy at people who have that surety of "Well, yes, then you'll go to heaven and be with Grandpa and us, etc." Another agnostic here...

eli, hope the GI bug clears up soon. I hate getting that.

Ds1 back at school, ds2 finally had a night of only one waking. The antibiotic seems to have really helped.

Of course, I still wound up waking up every hour or two to check on him.

jabberwocky · 26/02/2009 01:42

anyone?

EustaciaVye · 26/02/2009 11:56

I'm here Jabber. Have been to GP about periods again so been a bit awol...

Elibean · 26/02/2009 14:04

Am here too.

Poor Jabber with nights, I know that one - you wake up, listen, need a pee, think you might as well check on them while you're up, are wide awake, aargh. How are they today?

EV, what did the doc say?

LenniEd · 26/02/2009 15:14

I'm here too - DH's work computer has died so he's got my laptop in his office. May also be AWOL for a while.. not sure I can steal it back for MNing, much as I'd love to

EustaciaVye · 26/02/2009 18:01

Hi Eli

The blood test showed no thyroid problem.

The new gp today was very nice and asked me more questions. Lots about hot flushes, sweats etc of which I have none. Said they would be more concerned if i was bleeding mid cycle or after sex but that they would still look into it.

He has made me book a smear test (am due one but havent booked so far as have been bleeding so much hmm. He has given me transexamic (sp) acid to reduce the blood loss, and asked me to come back when the smear results come back.

He is also writing a plan of action in my notes for when i next go to gp (i wondered if that was to make sure my normal gp did the right things?)

Anyway, I feel like at least I have been listened to and I have some medication to try and help. Will wait and see what smear in 2 weeks shows.

Elibean · 26/02/2009 18:42

LenniEd, you ex-rebel you, go on, nick it, you know you want to

EV, I'm glad you felt listened to - I think thats a major part of healing/getting successfully treated for pretty much anything. It does sound as though you don't have too much to worry about, smear-wise, but its good you're getting one done...and I hope the tran. acid works. You must be wiped out by all that blood loss

LenniEd · 26/02/2009 19:05

Hee Hee - I'll try

Also glad you were listened to EV.

Right, best get back to the madhouse... is so peaceful out here in the office/warehouse. Can see why DH spends so much time here

LenniEd · 26/02/2009 19:06

PS... 991 posts on this thread BTW...

Indith · 26/02/2009 19:18

HOw on earth can work be more important than your MN time Lennied?

EV hope things go well for you.

Jabber hope your boys are ok

Eli how is your tummy now?

I love toddlers. Apart from the tantrums they are fab.

I hate snot.

Both children still producing the stuff in vast quantities. Dd did a very green poo this evening, as in actually a bright green has your brother been feeding you play doh lump of snot with no evidence of actual poo.

Is it Spring yet?

castlesintheair · 26/02/2009 19:46

DH gave me a laptop for my birthday (I just luuuuuurve that man ) so I intend to be on-line 24/7 (sorry hate that expression).

EV, I hope it gets better for you. I'm sure the tranxemic acid will help - it used to really help me.

Yes Indith, spring is here. It always comes the day after my birthday

accessorizequeen · 26/02/2009 22:23

ev, hope you get some more help soon on that front.

jabber, how are boys today? whilst I have the dt's sick at same time, I think it would be worse if ds1 & ds2 ill together argggh.

indith, how's the feeding?

I really ought not to post until several weeks have passed as I said dp's company would go into admin and it didn't and now that I've stopped feeding ds3. Except I did all weekend and then he changed his mind and is now back to having 1-2 bottles a day again. I had kept offering him bf expecting a battle and then give him a bottle but he just seems to be better about it all. Must have been the chicken pox coming on I guess. I feel a bit but generally about it all. It is a pita making up bottles I have to admit. I'm hoping the dt's are getting over the cp now as they've been pretty awful with it, much worse than ds2. Lots of red raw patches on their little bodies, dd had blood on her babygro this morning and ds3 very whingy most of the time but wouldn't you be?

Elibean · 26/02/2009 22:51

Oh yes, I would be, AQ. I'd be whingey with half the pox most of our kids have, I expect

Tummy better, thanks, and have just been out for a much needed curry so hope I'm not wrong on that.

dh on steroids is getting wearing, and for all sorts of reasons its been a very long day, but apart from dh we're almost illness free now...don't trust it, but...is that a sign of spring??

Wishing green-pooed and/or poxy LOs much, much better by tomorrow!

jabberwocky · 27/02/2009 02:32

Well, ds2 has finally officially turned the corner. Still a week left on the antibiotic but he's very chipper today. It was truly amazing how quickly that stuff worked.

eli, you must be feeling better to have gone out for curry

AQ, I cannot imagine having 5 month old twins with chicken pox. Truly you are an amazing woman to keep your sanity in the midst of it.

Indith, tiny babies full of snot make me feel soooo helpless

EV, I like the sound of "a plan of action". This doc seems to be taking things seriously.

LenniEd, maybe you should take turns with dh in the office? I've always found work much easier and more peaceful than everything I have to keep up with at home

Congrats on the laptop castles! What a great birthday present

Elibean · 27/02/2009 19:08

I'm glad, Jabber, thats good news

LenniEd · 27/02/2009 19:59

Jabber.. I'd love to, once I'm over the 6 months of being never ending milk machine and DS starts being weaned I think I'm going to make a case for work of some description. I need it now, my brain is melting after 2.5 years of babies. Even with doing DH's admin and accounts I am in autopilot, it really doesn't stretch me.

Pleased your DS seems to have turned the corner Jabber, and glad your DTs are on the mend too AQ. Good news about the bf too. Always lovely to hear from you... I still don't know how you manage, I hope you are giving yourself some much deserved credit for getting this far with the DTs and everything else on top.

Eli, how is DH? Is it still an ongoing issue with his asthma? Perhaps a hospital referral might be in order if it still isn't under control?

Indith, your post made me , poetic.

Castles... laptop ... your lovely DH must know you too well

Margo, hope things ok as they can be.

EV - OOI how did DD2 get on at EuroDisney? Did she enjoy it? My friend mentioned going the other day, but my DD would be the oldest child at about 3yo () by time we go, others would be 18mo ish, (my DS younger obviously). Just wondering if it is worth waiting the extra 6 months til they are two or not?
