Here we go. I thought the title was apt as ds2 has morhed into a stroppy little horror overnight. His favourite expression at the moment is 'I cwoss with you, I sceam at you AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH' .

Happy Birthday ToddlerJabber and ToddlerEli .

DD is poorly again. I swear every bug in the vicinity has some kind of magnetic attraction to her . She has a bit of a temp, headache and earache today. I need to buy shares in Calpol and Medised I think.

Aoa, hotel is a very good idea - go for a posh one so you can have a vvvv hot, deep bath!

Am trying to survive the playdate that dh arranged yesterday. Has basically involved other parent dropping off extremely spirited child for a rather open-ended affair Just informed dh he had to do something about this as 3+ hours on I have a splitting headach from all the noise. So apparently the mother is on her way so that ds2 can nap.

Oh, and dh originally wanted to combine this with a playdate I had set up for today with a good friend that I love to chat with who has sweet little twin boys. I was completely that he would even consider such a combination especially since the twins have never even met this other little boy and the energy level would have been...well, I can't even imagine. Called my friend and rescheduled for tomorrow, thankfully.

LenniEd · 31/12/2008 19:53

Thanks Jabber - am having a bit of a panic. MW was very off hand about it, saying "Oh good, I was just about to send you in to hospital" when she got the second reading. She did the first on an automatic monitor and the second the old fashioned way. And then as I walked out of the door she told me to go in if I felt at all unwell, but no clues as to what that meant. Am sure its nothing, but could have done with some reassurance from her really.

Sorry to hear about your playdate - and hope the mother appears soon, I don't think DH knows what a playdate is fortunately!

Happy New Year everyone! Off to bed now to catch up some sleep from last night.

jabberwocky · 31/12/2008 19:58

145/96 is in the borderline high range. If you weren't pregnant and this was your standard reading then you would be recommended to take meds. I'm kind of surprised that she was going to send you straight to the hospital but maybe b/c it's so much higher than what you usually run? Anyway, rest as much as you can and try not to think about it as you'll only fret it up higher. eli can tell you much more I'm sure. She had b/p issues much earlier on than I did IIRC.

Elibean · 31/12/2008 20:02

Poor Jabber, I feel faint at the thought

LenniEd, the fact that the second reading was within normal limits (first one was just a bit over, hence her concern) is pretty reassuring. They always had to take mine at least twice. Its bound to be higher at the very very end of pg, and in fact....if you're actually in very mild early labour already (all those cx, the show...) it would make sense too.

They do need to keep an eye on it, in case it changes, but those levels are still ok - and fwiw, mine went a fair bit higher than that before anyone started to do more than test my pee.

Is the MW coming back soon to take it again? If you start to get headaches that won't go away, flashing lights, swelling or stuff like that, absolutely, of course, call an ambulance or go to hospital. Otherwise, I would try not to worry (or you'll get a fake high reading from stress ) because atm its fine, honestly. And no protein in your pee is very good sign.

Like Jabber, I had to take meds postpartum both times because mine wouldn't come down straight away, but I never had protein in my urine, and didn't have pre-eclampsia or any problems with either the dds or me pre-labour. And pre-eclampsia, by the way, is far more common with a first baby than a second.

Hope I'm helping more than worrying you, but honestly, if it helps, go ask the women on the PG section how high their BPs got at the end - its not unusual for it to be high at the end, and is always watched closely (or should be). HTH, am thinking of you and here later

Elibean · 31/12/2008 20:03

oops, x post, you may have missed this!

Having read your last post, LenniEd, can reassure you more: old fashioned way is far more accurate, automatic thingy given to high readings. So sayeth my consultant OB last time, who was a nice lady and definitely knew her stuff.

LenniEd · 31/12/2008 20:14

Thanks Eli and Jabber - that's exactly what I needed to hear. Am going to bed now (how un-festive ) so will sleep easier for that. Funny how the littlest thing can set me off worrying at the end of pregnancy. Thank you.

Elibean · 31/12/2008 22:15

You're not alone there - when you think of what a huge thing it is (no pun intended) being very pg and about to give birth, not surprising either!

Sleep well, baby allowing

AnneOfAvonlea · 31/12/2008 23:56

Happy New Year all.

Lennied - take it easy. x

babypowder · 01/01/2009 10:41

Happy New Year!Hope everyone had a restful, uneventful night.

Elibean · 01/01/2009 10:43

Happy New Year!

LenniEd, how are you today?

LenniEd · 01/01/2009 12:58

Happy New Year to you too! Hope you all had fun celebrating.

I'm OK thanks Eli. A bit hacked off now, but ok. Had contractions until 3am, couldn't lie down through them, had a bath and they carried on, paracetemol made no odds, was about to wake DH and DD and then all stopped AGAIN. I've decided baby is just not coming, obviously just being a swine typical man!!! Seem to remember AQ had similar in run up to twins arriving so don't think it's uncommon, just bloody annoying!

Much less worried about the BP thing now - in fact not at all worried. Thank you and Jabber again.

And how was DD2? Hope she slept better. Now we're in Jan it must seem like the last leg to the op. Are you ok with it? When do you see them for pre-op?

MaHumbug · 01/01/2009 14:18

Happy New Year to you all.

Remembering the loved ones we lost last year and the babies and friends we welcomed last year. Also looking forward to the new arrivals to come xxx

Here's to 2009 - health and happiness.

andaSOLOnewyear · 01/01/2009 14:51

Happy New Year everyone!

jabberwocky · 01/01/2009 16:01

Happy New Year!

Here's a genuine wish for a better year

Elibean · 01/01/2009 21:08

Amen to that, for all who need one!

LenniEd, aargh, how frustrating - glad you're not worried anymore though, thats good. dd2 had bad night, as she has streamy cold and coughs more than usual, but perfectly cheerful and un-nappable during the day so not too worrying. And eating enough Pre-op is on Thursday...a week away..I have lots of questions. Am nervous, and equally nervous of getting cancelled - am staring at visiting kids suspiciously if they clear their throats, and covering the dds hands in First Defence

We had a nice time lighting candles, picking Angel Cards, and thinking about the year gone, and the year ahead, today...dd1 loves all that, dd2 just likes the candles and chocolate

Hope you all had a good day, here's to celebrating the good, grieving the sad, and hoping for the best of adventures in 2009...

Elibean · 02/01/2009 13:43

LenniEd?

accessorizequeen · 02/01/2009 14:10

She hasn't texted me, Elibean, shall post immediately should I hear anything (aq loves being bearer of new baby news!).

Happy New Year!

Indith · 02/01/2009 14:51

AQ the official birth announcer.

Leenied hope you are doing well, bp is behaving and baby considering coming out. All those contractions have got to have been doing some good.

AQ that is lovely offer re clothes and would be fantastic. Not that dd isn't very fetching in her blue sleepsuits . She has of course been given some putrid lovely baby pink outfits already. What is it with people buying sickly pink for little girls when there are so many beautiful clothes?

Eli glad dd2 is doing well (apart from sleep) in the run up to the op. Must be very scary getting so close but a wonderful relief too.

Happy birthday baby spina (yesterday) and baby wb (today) if they are about.

Dd fast asleep on me, ds fast asleep in cot He is much, much better. Eating us out of house and home, playing, talking (car..look! look! neenaw man, car, woosh, neenaw, look! tractor) Such a boy .

Dd has completely changed her ways in that annoying endearing newborn way and is rather difficult to settle at night, not really wanting to sleep on us, next to us or on her own She has a very stuffy nose though which isn't helping, sounds like she's about to expire half the time. Think she has thrush too as her tongue is covered in white spots but considering the ABs we are both on that is not surprising.

Happy days!

LenniEd · 02/01/2009 15:27

Am still here Not been very well most of the day, feeling dizzy and been sick a couple of times so have spent most of the afternoon in bed half awake and half asleep. I've normally got a cast iron stomach so am hoping it is just baby kicking my stomach or something rather than a bug - don't want any germs now. DH has just gone back to work and I'm feeling a bit better although DD sneezing every few minutes so looks like she's caught a cold.

Eli, I would be nervous too, and would be nervous about being cancelled. Can understand your de-germing too, I feel rather inclined to that at the moment and I've no decent reason for it other than the time of year and amount of snot around. Glad she is eating, not so glad (for you) that she isn't napping but as you say a good sign.

Thank you AQ for your baby alert promptness! Will text you as soon as I can, but am now convinced I'll at least go to my due date if not over. I don't think I'll believe I'm in labour when it finally happens either, not unless my waters break dramatically or something.

Indith, it sounds blissful to me despite fussiness and thrush both of which I'm sure will resolve themselves simultaneously. Glad DS is better too, and what has he made of his little sister?

DD has suddenly learnt to talk too - she's like a little parrot now, she only has to hear something once and it has been added to her vocab. And she talks constantly now - where is the off button?? She's also started standing up for herself among her peers - no one steals the toys off her anymore which I'm pleased about, she was too shy for her own good previous.

Elibean · 02/01/2009 18:40

LenniEd, have hesitated over saying this, because its almost certainly not, but raised bp can cause dizziness, and nausea, so it might be a good idea to get it checked just in case. Is there a walk-in centre you can go to, or someone you know who has a bp monitor at home?? I soo don't want to make you anxious, when you don't need to be, but otoh I'd also hate to not say 'get it checked' on the off-chance you had a problem brewing. Not worth the risk.

Not that I wish you a bug, either, by any means

Probably imminent labour....even if you've given up on it...

Elibean · 02/01/2009 20:19

Have re-checked my notes, and actually its not so much dizziness as blurred vision...sorry, was probably overanxious there on your behalf too long with dd2, or I'm turning into my mother, egads.

Glad I got to re-post before you did! Though I still say, if you're feeling rough or it gets worse, no harm in getting yourself checked over. Especially if you get a headache or anything eye-related.

Actually, I'm half wondering if you're in full-blown labour by now, anyway...

LenniEd · 02/01/2009 20:26

Eli - Thank you, I was starting to feel inclined to call the hospital at one point myself as really wasn't feeling good but spoke to my midwife in the end who has booked me in for monitoring in the morning. Would have gone in this evening but she thought I would be better in my own bed getting some rest just in case it is a bug rather than spending all evening waiting around at the hospital. Am feeling fine now, but have got to ring hospital and go in if the dizziness comes back or if I'm sick again. She said exactly the same as you though - is probably nothing but worth getting checked.

Other than that nothing to report, not so much as a Braxton Hicks so think baby is planning on staying put. Am hoping he holds out til Monday night now as DD has her first ever party invite on Monday afternoon - a close friend's DD is turning 2, and I wouldn't want to miss it for anything - not even a baby

Elibean · 02/01/2009 20:57

Phew (can you tell I'm keeping an eye on you? ) am glad you spoke to the MW, that sounds just right. Will hope you get to go to the party with dd, and get a good night's kip in the meantime!

LenniEd · 02/01/2009 21:29

No - couldn't tell But then I'm not keeping an eye on you and DD2 either so think we're quits

On another note I accidently typed www.mumsnet.com/talk into the google search box on my homepage rather than the web address bar and was horrified to see mumsnet had made national news!! And even more horrified to realise quite what a sheltered life I lead on here! I should get out more... on secondthoughts, nah, I like it in here. It's warm and cosy.

Elibean · 02/01/2009 22:46

Really? Again??!? Must go see...

OK, eye-quits, thats good

Bad sleep apnoea and cough till vomit tonight, looks like a long one...
