poor you strawb take care hun.

Big waves to all

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 07/03/2009 21:20

Hellooooooooooooo all.
Am a bit better now. Mainly due to jettisoning the housework and concentrating on my social life am sure DS is better with a happy mummy than with a clean tidy house!!!

OK off to do a little bit of cleaning/tidying, perhaps aided by a glass of white wine.......

Gill79 · 07/03/2009 23:55

Poor you Strawberry . Have you been feeling crap with your menstrual issues? I think your DH gets away with lots of trips doesn't he? Having said that DP has a weekend and then a week's climbing trips coming up.
Just been out for a friend's birthday - problem was was out of London, 2 km from the nearest station, £30 each for the meal and we could only stay for 2 hours! We tried to walk from the station to save money, predictably walked 180 degrees in the wrong diection so the 2km took us 45 minutes walking along a dual carriageway ....nice way to spend saturday night.
We had another first birthday today so that makes 5 parties in 2 weekends. Time for a rest!
Malc getting on fine - yesterday we walked to the shop together Admittedly only 50 yards away but took a LONG time. I was so proud when he finally toddled into the shop!
We had MMR yesterday - I had a few wobbles still about it but done now. Also they did one for pneumonia - am I wrong or is pneumonia a bacterial thing that you can't "catch"? Am confused.
Glad you feeling better Sally. It's difficult to be able to let go of things isn't it? You think you'll feel so much better if only you can get the washing up done and clean the floors, and the truth is once you've done that you start stressing about other things.

swottybetty · 08/03/2009 19:36

happy birthday esther am still pooped after yesterday's family do but have a fridge full of lovely leftovers. dd went really quite mental with all the chaos and people but survived remarkably well. dh's family are lovely but do stay... it was a lunch do, but we had to start stripping dd down for her bath at half six before they got hint. even in bath she had spectators -- her two little cousins who werent impressed enough when she said poo as she poo'd. in bath. nice. much nicer day today, farm in sunshine (you ever get to godstone strawb?) and plenty of those leftovers. come dine with me then bed i think....

Happy Birthday Esther! Sorry I have lost track completely and now we are at the end of our little ones bdays! Can't believe I missed Jay popping in the other day too (and really cant believe you are thinking of MORE Jay!). Betty v impressed with Esther saying poo! It's such a great word to know.

Gill we had MMR on Weds... I was quite glad as was going for the Hib/Hep thing but they decided (on my agreement) to do MMR as well so at least I didn't spend the night before worrying about it. It was fine thankfully and they seem ok, although DS2 has been hideously nasty to his sister for the last few days (drawing blood frequently as he just lunges for her and scratches her face all the time).

Am feeling cack as DS1 is out of control too and I seem to have lost the plot. He wont listen to anything or ever do what he is told. He was a lovely boy just a couple of weeks ago. I pray this is just a brief phase but he is getting worse and worse. No idea what is setting it off.

Strawb am for you. I would be very with my DH if he headed off for a weekend when I was ill. And your DH does seem to do it rather a lot (ok I know he has to for his job, but I think in that case he ought to make more effort to stay around when he can). Make sure you rest (as much as you can with two small children) as imagine if you are losing lots of blood you may feel dizzy etc. Imagine it will really make you feel knocked for six you poor thing. How is your DS doing now? And yours Ginger? Hope they are both picking up now the weather is (generally) better and not getting ill so much.

Despite nightmare DS's we had a nice day today until late pm (DS1 is only really bad when tired) and took a picnic to the swings and ate sandwiches in the sandpit in the sun (before getting home just before the sleet showers set in).

Mini how are your little ones now with the CP? Hope you are over the worst. I am dreading it. DS1 hates being itchy. He has excema on his upper arms and scratches them to bits sometimes.

Gill loved your tale of walking to shops with Malc. DS2 is suddenly walking all the time at home and is very good at it. He gets stagefright though if we are out and sits on the floor and often wont even crawl (he never moved from one spot in sandpit today despite sitting there for 20 mins - but wont sit still ever at home).

Sally glad things are looking up for you! Sod the housework! I agree that happy mummy usually makes for happy kids (I am grumpy and miserable but that's because my kids are! It's a viscious circle here at the mo!). Maybe I need a social life .

Sorry I am missing people out. Blooming DD is now crying, having only been asleep 50 mins. She was fine when she went to bed. I do NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH ANY MORE TEARS NOW [selfish emoticon].

alkar · 09/03/2009 08:24

Happy birthday Esther, just ferdie to go now then they are all one.

Nothing to report here, DS has been well for a whole week now! I might take him to the nurse for his jabs today. I have been twice before but she didn't do them because he had a temperature. I've been told to just show up any Monday when he's well. Going to see a friend this morning though so it dpends what time we get back. If we're too late I'll go next week, its so nice that he's well I dont want to make him ill again yet.

missnatalie · 09/03/2009 12:55

Happy Birthday Esther

Glad DS is better now alker. Did you take him for the MMR?

mini how are the LOs today. Hope the CP clear quickley. Im dreading Henley getting them. He really is a nightmare when hes ill. I know that sounds really selfish but i just couldnt handle him being ill again at the moment.

How is Malcolm after his MMR Gill ?

Henley has got his on Weds and im dreading it. Something deep down is telling me not to take him. I dont know why but ive just got this gut feeling. Its actually getting me quite stressed and emotional. I know that im not going to be able to sleep Tues night.

No news here really. Just been very busy over the last couple of weeks with trying to sort DPs Skills Assessment form. Were (hopefully) going to emigrate to Oz but have to prove DPs Plumbing & Heating qualificationa first.

Henley is alot better now. Think that it may have had something to do with his teeth as hes cut another. Weve started to let him play out in the garden now during the day and he loves it. He brought me a pressie in from the garden too. A blardy wood louse!!

Hope everyone is ok. Got to go to the bank now. Catch up later

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 09/03/2009 13:31

happy Birthday ESTHER,

hi everyone, EGG- i am sure your DS is gowing thru a faze- i remeber DS being a real challenge when he was just three(however we did think it was due to DD's arrival at the time) but i do think it is just an age thing, DS is now lovely again most of the time, its hard work though! sending you a big (((hug)))!!!!!

DD like your DS walks as and when it suits her, she has a nasty habit of toddling over to me and sinking her teeth into me and it bloody hurts!"!"!!!!!!!!!

nothing new to add really, same shite different day here, Ds is back at pre-school again and we are hoping for no more illnesses for a while!!!!!lol

Alkar- glad to hear Daniel is well again, did u get to the nurse today???

Miss nat- wow how exciting about you plans to emigrate, when are you planning to go??? My DH is desperate to go to NZ- i just don't feel ready to leave my parents and siblings atm, although this country is getting worse and there is not much to offer our children as they grow into adults but i feel the grandprents and other family members will mean more to them ATM IYKWIM!!!!!! (if they all came with us i would get on the first plane poss!!!!!)

missnatalie · 09/03/2009 13:40

Hi Sarah were hoping to go asap. Just in the process of the Skills Assessmnent through VESASSES. That has to be in Melbourne by mid April. If that passes DP has then got to do the Skills Assessment practical. After that its applying for the visa, having medicals and police checks and then were off to sunny Perth !!!! We were going to go through an agant but they want £1600 extra on top of what its already going to cost . The agent could get us there quicker (9-10 months) but were not in a mega mega rush. We want to save rougly £8-10,000 to take with us and get us started. We'll probably be going aroung winter 2010. Ive already been looking at houses .

alkar · 09/03/2009 14:31

Wow good for you missnat. I wish I was brave enough but like Sarah I wouldn't want to leave my family.

Took DS for his jabs - just the 12 month booster. He's been ill the last two times I took him so he's got another 4 weeks to wait until he can have his MMR. I know what you mean about feeling guilty with the MMR missnat I was unsure for a while and was going o pay for single jabs. Did a bit of research and decided the NHS was the safest option. Hope he's ok with it x

I have ordered a funpod. I know there are some controversial threads on here but I cant cook anything when DS is around he always wants to see what I'm doing so I figured that would be the best option. Second hand ones are selling for quite a lot on ebay so if he doesn't like it I should be able to get some money back by selling it on.

Bessie123 · 09/03/2009 15:17

Hello, hello.

As usual, it's been such a long time. I have been thinking of you all, wondering how the dcs are doing.

Swotty betty - how are things? How far gone are you now? V cute pics of esther on your profile.

my dd is still not walking properly on her own but it sounds like that is a good thing - less opportunity to cause havoc. She is signing and talking.

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say hi. xxx

miniandme · 09/03/2009 16:19

Well the chicken pox are subsiding at last, now we just have to deal with the left over repercussions of them being ill!! The sleep disturbance !!
They were both wonderful sleepers going down from about 7ish through to about 7ish am but now because their sleep routine has been disturbed with being ill they are both being a total nightmare, have been up since 5am this morning ,jack up first then he woke abby then she woke him and round and round it went till i eventually took Jack downstairs at 6.30 and stuck him in front of the tv in his seat wiht a bottle of milk .Treid cc with him for the hour and half and just couldnt handle it any longer,i hate when they have been ill cause we're always left with this .

Anyway rant over lol!! Alkar i think they funpods look really funky would love to have the kitchen set up to have them for our 2.

MMR we have put the twins off while they had chicken pox but their appointment has come in now for 26th march we've decided not to let them have it just now as they just seem to be ill all the time, just want them to have a break for a while plus the fact we have 2 autis as it is and dont really fancy any more difficulties!! I know people dont belive all the mmr/autism thingy but in DD case it was defo her mmr that brought on her problems she was fine beforehand then 2 days after the jab she started screaming day and night and didnt stop for nearly a fortnight, she lost all her speech of which she had quite a lot at that age.Shes now 6 and still has a severe speech disorder which wont be fully corrected till she is in double figures we have been advised, she has sleep difficulties and al her other litle auti bits.DS1 on the other hand has always been an auti since he was a baby, looking back i can see it all the way back.
So gonna give the twins a break from it for now,may get it when they are a good bit older and their systems more mature but definately not getting it done just now,can hear the lectures from the hv already !!

Egg jack used to get stage fright when he went out too and sit down on the floor, now he just runs in the opposite direction we are walking..........think i preferred the sitting on the floor.DP tried to walk them both out to the car the other day and they tied him in knots lol!! Oh and while poor Abby had spots we noticed she had also sprouted 3 new teeth !! 2 of them molars,no wonder the little might was in such a state !

gingermumi · 09/03/2009 18:54

Hope all poorly bunnies are recovering!

egg- ds been better generally but still has cough (since last october!), it has now changed to a wheeze so i took him to docs today and they have given him a different inhaler. he walks everywhere now and loves being outside. he can say cat and car and calls dd2 something that sounds like judith (which we all call her now, its hilarious! her name's emily! childish i know but it breaks up the monotony of sleep deprivation, nappies and work ).

RL incredably busy which is why i tend to lurk, we have inspection here next week (teach in a college), when that's finished should be a bit easier.

have a good evening, am off to teach now!

missnatalie · 09/03/2009 19:47

Miniautism is one of the fears that ive got about the MMR. Ive just got this gut feeling that wont go away and is telling me not to let him have it due to the ausist fears. No one in my family are autistic i think that ive just looked into it too much and now im really scared . His consultant has put my mind at rest re his seizures but this gut feeling just wont go away .

sarah i know what you mean about missing family. Im going to miss mine like mad. Ive stopped phoning them as much already. Think im trying to slowly wean myself away from them. But if we dont make the move now, we never will. There will always be something that "comes up" so we just got to do it. Give it 2yrs minimum and if we hate it, then we can always come back home. At least then we can say we gave it a go.

Have just been for a 2hr walk with DS in his pram and have burnt 302 calories. Had a binge this morning and i cant be arsed doing m DVD so went for the walk instead. DP wont be home until 9pm so im gona have my WW Chicken Casserole and Dumplings. It is yummy!!!! He can have bangers and (s)mash when he gets home.

rozzyraspberry · 10/03/2009 19:56

Swotty - sorry I missed Esthers birthday - hope you all had a lovely day. I've been struck down with the kids virus so have been going to bed at the same time as the kids the past few days so haven't been online.

I'm finding juggling work, housework and my 3 boys a real slog at the moment. I think that's why I've managed to pick up 3 bugs since I went back to work in January. I'm sure I'll get used to working again soon and things will get easier (hopeful emotion!!).

Ds3 has been doing a bit of toddling which is cute - only when it suits him though.

Egg - sounds like its just a phase that your ds1 is going through. I've never experienced the 'terrible twos' - in my experience 3 and 4 are worse ages behaviour wise. My ds1 also used to be a nightmare when tired - he used to go completely mental - he's calmed down a lot since starting school though.

Hope everyone's ok

missnatalie · 11/03/2009 09:08

Its Imms day today . I cried myself to sleep lastnight. Im really worried about it. I had a little chat to my mum about it but she wasnt much help. She basically said well you and your sis and bro have had it and theres nothing wrong woth you. I know deep down that he should have it but it just worries me. How can a little body cope with so much all in 1 jab. Well actually 2 jabs hes habing a booster for Pnemonioa or somethig too.

alkar · 11/03/2009 15:39

How did it go missnatalie?

princessllama · 11/03/2009 19:59

hi i've been away for ages it feels. i missed esther's birthday. happy belated birhtday!
missnat i can't believe you're going to emmigrate. mind you just watching that programme when they relocate to australia makes you want to get on the plane.
mini we've been struck down by the pox too. now i don't know whether dd did have it last time. i reckon she probably didn't-gutting when i think of how long i conscientously stayed inside with them and then her party had half the guests. typically, ferdie's birthday party is on saturday so half the kids won't be coming. never mind...
ginger must be horrible having toby wheezing again. funny he's calling his sister judith. ferdie is calling Hope "o". he has also started saying ooohh! all the time and now i've taught him to put his hand over his mouth at the same time. he's nearly walking on his own but could be a while.
hi bessie nice to hear from you again.
swotty, yet again sign of g and t. saying poo as she did it is sheer brilliance.
i took f's nappy off for 1 minute this am and turned round to find him peeing all over the place-unfortunately mostly over his sister's pink tutu.

strawberrycornetto · 11/03/2009 20:08

Hey all. How are we all?

Nat, I hope the MMR was fine. Personally I do believe in it but I know its tough with so many scare stories out there. Your Australia plan sounds very exciting.

Egg, how old is your DS? I agree with Rozzy about terrible threes. My DD certainly went through phases of being impossible but none lasted for very long.

Swotty, happy birthday to Esther. Sorry I missed it. What did you get up to? Where/what is Godstone Farm? I've heard other people mention it - is it worth a visit?

Ginger, love that your DD is now known as Judith . Your DS sounds like he's coming on really well. We had our 12 month check today and the HV seemed happy but I really want DS to be bright like DD so that he doesn't feel that he can't keep up. I have a younger DB and was always more academic than him and I really don't want to recreate the same family pattern.

Am off to upload some new pictures of DS from his birthday.

missnatalie · 11/03/2009 20:18

Hi Everyone, the Imms went ok. He hardly even cried just winged. Hes not very well now though. He slept from 12pm - 2pm. Since waking hes refused to eat anything. All he wants is his bottle. Between 2 and 7 hes had 3 9oz bottles . His temp is slightly high (37.8). Hes just very sleepy. Im hoping that he sleeps through. If not its going to be a very long night . Thanks for asking

Gill79 · 11/03/2009 22:51

hello all [waves]
Hi bessie.
Busy busy. Will try and pop back tomorrow for more of a catch up xxx

missnatalie · 12/03/2009 13:36

Had an ok night. Henley slept for most of yesterday but decided to wake at 8pm. He was completly hyper and not one bit sleepy. Again he was refusing any solids but had 2 x 9oz bottles and finally went back to sleep at 12.15am. Woke once or twice in the night but was soon back off to sleep. I expected him to sleep in a little longer this morning but he was up for 6.45am. I put him in bed with me and he then snoozed until 8.30am. Hes not too bad today. He had weetabix for breakkie and the 9oz of milk. Not had lunch yet but hes not dressed yet either . Temp is back down to normal too but hes still got diorea or maybe its something to do with all the milk that hes having.

Howseveryone else today. Tis very quite on here.......

swottybetty · 12/03/2009 17:13

a quick wave here as well - tis the principal of the thing, i hate a quiet day too . proper catch up soon. i have a very dirty kitchen that needs my attentions. i used to be quite the high flier you know.....

OP posts:
leesmum · 12/03/2009 20:37

Hi Ladies! Wow i can't believe how long i've been away for, it's been ages and i've missed so much. A very Happy 1st Birthdays to all those i've missed out on, I hope you all had a lovely time, and am i right in thinking that it's just Ferdie waiting for his special day???

To be honest i have been cutting down on computer time altogether (not just MN!) and i have been very busy with my exciting news....I'm getting married!!!...two weeks today Dp gave me a beautiful wedding ring about 3 weeks ago and said " after 16 years together i suppose i should make an honest woman of you" anyway the thing is NO-ONE knows, well not yet anyway, i didn't want a lot of fuss and even though I love a big white wedding it's really not for me, so we are going to Manchester Registry office (yes the one in the corrie wedding tomorrow) and then for a meal, it'll just be us 4 my mum and dp's mum and dad. We are planning on telling them a couple of days before!!! Actually you lot are the only one's to know, so sshhhhh

I hope all lo's are well, my two have been great recently, Ds2 is still not walking but climbing up everything and this week has had 3 molars come through so he's a bit off his food but other than that we're all good.

I will be back on soon, i promise, take care all xxx

princessllama · 12/03/2009 21:16

congratulations leesmum! brilliant. i look forward to the pictures.
yes, ferdie is the last one now i think.
guess what-proud wife moment-dh has made it into GQ. only as background for his boss but still, i think he looks v cute.
