No more snow but v icy outside. DH had day off work (prearranged holiday to spend recovering from hangover after his work do last night - he is reading over my shoulder and just raised an eyebrow - oh, and he spied our very own Vino in town whilst out yesterday) so after letting him have an hour lie in (how harsh ) got him up and we went to Tropical World then for a pub lunch. Pip went mad running about when she was seeing all the fish at Tropical World - most amusing but v relieved it was quiet.

Put the tree up today with lo's help. Had to rearrange a few of the baubles! Then she 'helped' wrap up some presents. So much sellotape where there shouldn't be. Got my SS pressie to wrap but have left that for when she's not around (so should be doing that now....).

Wilkie J sounds such a sweetie bringing you the biscuits. Can only hope this helpful stage lasts for another few months. Oh, and when I retrieved my wrapping paper was to find two proper 'quality' rolls along with two rubbishy ones. Think I got the posh ones in January sales. I've left it out so you can examine it tomorrow

Vino I thought last year I would start a tradition of buying a new bauble each year / getting lo to choose one. So I offered her a selection in the shop today but she was so disinterested.

PCF this bubba doesn't seem as active as Pip was, but I get the usual bedtime thumps which is reassuring. Don't know whether I'm just not looking out for it as much this time iykwim.

Lizz it took us one hour to go about 10 metres yesterday. DH's work is c 6 miles away (lo's nursery is at his work) and he drops me off in town en route. My work is c 4 miles and I walk there in summer if I have the energy (takes approx an hour). When I got to town there is still a mile to go, and I normally walk. Yesterday I queued for 10 mins for the bus only to be told it wasn't going where I wanted it to as 2 buses were stuck on ice there, so I walked v v carefully.
Didn't have emergency pack as felt no need with us being in a city. If I was going across the M62 a la Vino's dh I prob would.

Hi Dragon . How are your preparations for Xmas going?

Eah / Lizz bargain queens! Got some bargains a Woolies yesterday. I finally got round to getting Pip a play pushchair which was a M&P branded one for £3.

Glad UD is settling in well. Must text 2H. If you're around, come and say hello .

Finally (long post - sorry) we got a toddler bed delivered today. It was an East Coast one but can't put it up as the holes are drilled in the wrong place. Grr....

Reggiee · 05/12/2008 18:50

And trying to think of a Xmassy name....

rudolphtheROUGEnosedreindeer · 05/12/2008 21:32

DH thought of this one for me.......

rudolphtheROUGEnosedreindeer · 05/12/2008 21:34

Wilkie don't joke,E loves helping with S. J will be older so much more useful!

Dragonhart · 05/12/2008 22:38

Luke is so useful when I am bf Rachel! He gets things for me and stops Ruth doing things she shouldnt be (like climbing on the tv cabinate, jumping off the footstool onto her face or drinking the water I have just used to wash Rachel's face-lovely).

Ruth on the other hand has worse selective hearing than DH!

Put some new pics on FB of the kids if you get the chance to look. x

Dragonhart · 05/12/2008 22:42

Lizz- Glad DJ is on the mend.

Rgee- Been doing it all online. Loving the internet rather than trying to get Luke to shop Problem is the amount of stuff I have got los!

Oink- Putting the crhistmas tree up tom too. Quite excited!

How exciting about all these wriggling babies!

Dragonhart · 05/12/2008 22:43

Dragonhart · 05/12/2008 22:43

Oh ffs! I am off to bed before I offend anyone else with my fat fingers!

ladytophamhatt · 06/12/2008 07:39

Lizzzz, G has been sick afew times over the last few days, indoors so easier than your Tescos chunnder but my bigger ones just stand about screeching about how much it stinks or why its teh colour it is.
Not much use at all really.
I screech back them to get a cloth/towel/bucket/get oout of the bloody way.
They were all wrestling last night, dispite me telling them to stop several times and he ended up being sick again, missing James by about 1/1000th of an inch.
Maybe they'll listen to me from now on??

School Xmas fayre today, 400 children + parents all crammed into the hall for 3 hours of hell buying other peoples shite.
I can't wait....

God help me.

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 06/12/2008 08:03

Ooooo what a lovely lay in (how was dh when he got home?)

Christmas fayre was a bit of a non event it was busy but we made £12.50 so hardly worth the effort, we have Ellies preschool fayre on Wednesday and Eddas and I have sorted 99% of it and am hoping we'll raise lots of money then.

DH text at 1am to say he was crashing at a mates last night so wasnt expecting him home early but he rang at 9am to say could I collect him, we're off to il's for sunday lunch later (well when Hattie wakes up) Ellie discovered the film 'miracle on 34th street' and is engrossed in it, her face is a picture and she so believes in it all this year

theSuburbanDryad · 07/12/2008 18:50

Helllloooooo!!

I are back! The new house is soooooo lovely - so much space for Z to trash run around in. And we can get Freeview so we are discovering the joys of CBeebies. Yay! I think all the presenters are on drugs, personally.

Not had time to read everyone's posts, but hope you're all doing well.

LizzzzsecretSanta · 07/12/2008 18:54

I'm really sorry but your present hasn't arrived yet - I'm hopeful that it will come tomorrow, but then I've still got to send it to you so it might be a bit late.

I'm really sorry!!

Shimmer · 07/12/2008 21:35

Oh no I still haven't bought my SS pressie. I WILL get it tomorrow.

LTH I just sent you a friend request on FB. That's me!

Had a lovely weekend with F. Didn't really realise how much I'd been working til I stopped and spent some time at home with him, and realised I'd been really missing him!! The shop's going really well which is obviously good news, but it's SOOOOO hard wanting to devote 100% of my time and attention to both the shop and F.

Might have to spent more time at home come January though as F's nursery place, which I thought was sorted, turns out not to be so! After a LOOOONG talk with the manager a couple of weeks ago about the dates & times we needed (I only want him to do mornings) and her spending AGES on the computer trying to juggle things arund to get him in, I then had a letter from the nursery saying unfortunately the times we wanted weren't avaliable!! So I called them AGAIN and they offered me 2 afternoons, which is just rubbish, and we went roung and round in circles with me saying 'but you said a couple of weeks ago he could do 3 mornings' and her saying that they weren't available... So all very fustrating anyway! I called another place on Friday to check out availability and they cheerfully told me they'd be able to fit him in in September!! Moral of the story... if you're thinking of moving to Lewes, book your nursery place a year in advance! Apparently schools here are mega full too. Someone told me I should be putting his name down for primary school now I just have no idea about all this sort of stuff! I only want him to go to the local one down the road (though that does happen to be quite a good school) Don't they HAVE to take him??

Very jealous about those with Xmas trees up. We're back in London for Christmas so aren't getting one here I've made the shop all Christmassy though, so I get my fill of Christmas when I'm there!

eandh · 08/12/2008 07:16

shimmer -you can put his name down for school however makes no difference whether he gets in there or not, all it means is that the school send you the admissions forms. I have just applied for Ellies primary school place (kent county council allow you do it on line) and it the council that decide who goes where not school, I had to put 3 choices down and reasons why I was choosing these schools, the priority places go to children with SEN statements, then siblings and then location. There are 19 children leaving Ellies preschool and around 10 of them have siblings at school so will get a place, however school only accepts 30 children a year (small village school so only one class per year) and depending how many other people apply (children who dont got to her preschool or are in nursery eyc will depend if she gets a place) We dont find out till March time what school shes got (if there isnt spaces in the 3 we've chosen they allocate a school, we have one that is a 2mins walk away but over my dead body is she going there!!)

Lizzzombie · 08/12/2008 08:53

Morning!

Shimmer - Bummer about F's nursery. How annoying. Can't believe they are all full. I want to see photos of your christmassy shop!

UD - Good to have you back, hope you go mad decorating your new house with christmas stuff.

Eah - Good luck with the preschool xmas fayre this week.

LTH - Hope G is better soon. Puking babies is not fun.

PCF - Had to re read your post about Beachy Head. I initially thought "oh lovely a nice walk in the fresh air!" Doh! Hope they got home ok! Am insanely jealous of an 11am lie in!

To My SS - If you haven't posted it yet, please just send lemsip as I'm sooooooooooooo f**king ill thats all I am living off at the moment! Had work xmas do on Saturday night, which I dragged myself to and spluttered through. Then PIL here yesterday and I thought I was going to die in the morning. I am sure I nearly coughed up a lung. And this morning I am not looking attractive. I truly look like a zombie. I have NO appetite which never happens. And I ache all over. I may drug DJ and go back to bed for the rest of the day.

Big hello to everyone else, hope you manage to keep the lurgi at bay xxx

ladytophamhatt · 08/12/2008 12:19

Aha, shimmer i was just coming on to ask which one of you all is X on facebook.
I knew it had to be a Jan 07 lady

Ds1 is off today after ouking in the night. Totally annoying fine now though of course....

My SS present is half purchased...I need to get to some better shops then sunny seaford, I'll r=try and go tomorrow but it might be a teeeeeeeny bit late.....
I'll get it in teh post asap.

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 08/12/2008 14:15

My SS will be late too, but mine is to do with my wrapping paper crisis more than anything....EAH I think most of us have failed miserably at your 10th Dec deadline

Am waiting for application forms for J's school too. It is a lovely little church school round the corner that I am desperate to get him in to.

Had lovely day on Sat with Vino & Reggie and the LOs. So funny though, P was really territorial about her toys at her house, then we went to Vino's and E was territorial about her toys - J wanted to play with the buggy at the same time as E and in the end Vino and I made the executive decision to put it away as much squarking and squealing ensued whilst the wrestled with it! Reg makes a nom-nom shepherd's pie though. Thanks for a lovely day

Am bored out of my tits today.

Lizz - sorry you are poorly I'm throwing lemsips at you

PCF thankyou for the peppa stuff it came saturday and is perfect! Poor dh now he knows what its like being pg

Wilkie - have you still not found the 'perfect' wrapping paper???

Lizz - hope you are feeling better

UD - welcome back

My poor boss he came in to give me some work form my area boss (yet another pointless spreadsheet) and because I have had the kids all weekend (dh very hungover and very useless yesterday so stayed in bed all day) and I dont feel well I just burst into tears, he wasnt sure what to do so made me a cup of tea and got me a rich tea biscuit we are off out after work for a light meal/xmas drink as the area is having a huge party on saturday (although I am not going) and to swap our secret santa pressies and I was saying how it was a bit stupid going as its a waste of money etc (everyone else I work with children have left home/havent got kids so have loads more money than me) and he said if I didnt tell anyone he'd pay for mine and claim it back o his expenses!

eandh · 08/12/2008 20:55

any words of wisdom??

Lizzzombie · 09/12/2008 17:22

Oh EAH, I am sorry to hear your news.
Hope DH and You and the girls are all ok.
I think the balloon idea is a great one. xxxxxxx

Dragonhart · 09/12/2008 23:01

EAH- So sorry. And so horrible so close to christmas.

We are making angels to leave at MIL's grave at christmas. Luke was worried about her recently and kept asking about her. We are making them by putting two hand prints next to one another so that the thumbs over lap and the fingers are wings iyswim. Then a big thumb print for halo in gold or yellow then another smaller one for head. We are going to laminate them then tie them to her tree (MIL was burried in one of those woodland burrial places where you dont have head stone, just a small plaque and a tree is planted for you. When field full, they leave it to woodland trust).

Balloon idea sounds lovely. xxx
