Hi everyone - Z had a lovely party but no bugger bothered taking any pictures (except when I got a toy truck stuck in my hair and my friend had to cut it out ) - should have known it would be left to me!!

Ah well, he had a nice day and we did have quite a few people turn up which was lovely. Hope you're all having nice weekends too!

RGee - if I don't come back on the thread before, happy birthday for tomorrow.

vinorouge · 11/01/2009 18:07

hi all

E&H - just put the bargain dolls pram set together, ace isn't it? DH amazed at what there is for less than £2.

Wilkie - hope J had a good party yesterday and has a lovely birthday tomorrow.

We've had a child free weekend cos we went to a wedding yesterday. Dropped kids off at my mums at 9am yest and they'll be back tomorrow tea time so we have chance to sort out in peace now. The wedding was lovely, black tie so all v smart and I had gorgeous long red dress, felt beautiful for the first time in ages and me&DH enjoyed time together relaxing and chatting. We went to bed at 11 though! No stamina these days.

Just been chatting with best friend about her wedding plans so mind is a whirl of wedding dresses, am excited for her but wedding not til 2010.

Busy settling into routine of life back at work. Work itself going ok. Started running again and really enjoying that.

Ellen has had birthday tea at my parents this weekend and we're seeing PILS on thurs so will have the same there, will take a cake to nursery on tues(her actual birthday) but not doing anything other than that.

Reggiee · 11/01/2009 19:21

Hi all.
Sounds like you had a lovely weekend Vino. Any piccies? Weekend away here too. DH took me away for my birthday (thanks for the wishes Raisin ). Two nights away from the lo though - longest ever! PIL came over to stay. I did some shopping, we saw Slumdog Millionaire (first time to the cinema in over 2 years - an excellent film btw), then to the theatre to see Mary Poppins . Lots of nice food in between, lie-ins, papers in bed, and hotel breakfasts - yummy!

So, whatt'veImissed?
Raisin I know I shouldn't laugh at toy truck in hair but.....how did it happen and did you have to cut loads out?

Eah what have you done this weekend then? Must be dh's turn for chilcare duties soon?

PCF how was your weekend away?

Lizz thanks for the hot tip. Bought a v comfy pair of trousers from MC at bargainesque price.

Hiya Loosh. Glad to hear dh is on the mend.
2H let's get this northern meet up on the road (race the southerners ). Saturdays in general are not good am afraid to say, although there are the odd exceptions. Need to get out of the chair and walk, ohhhh, 5 steps to pick up my diary to check, but it just seems too hard . Am on mat leave from mid-March onwards though, and during the week will be free! I'll get some email discussion started soon.
KwK do you reckon you might be able to bob down too?

Shimmer hope F had a good birthday.
Wilkie you recovered from the party? Hope the birthday boy has a great day tomorrow. I have informed asked dh to bring me a cuppa in bed tomorrow to celebrate mine.

Right, hello to everyone else, and enough wittering from me!

eandh · 11/01/2009 20:11

Evening

Rgee HAppy Birthday for tomorrow and sat your weekend

Raisan - glad it went well (apart from toy truck incident)

Vino - tis fab inst it

in case Jodie pops on Happy Birthday to Ethan for today and a big happy Birthday to JJ tomorrow Wilkie hope he enjoyed his party tomorrow.

DH worked 6am to 7pm yesterday so a long day topped off that at 6.30 last night I thought I'd lost Ellie, long story but had put her to bed, she got up I told her off she went back to bed I went in our room to tidy (in middle of decorating) looked in E's room she want there I searched the whole house and then started panicing as porch door was ajar for when DH got home (it squeaks so I opened it so it E didnt hear) and I thought she'd gone out the frnt door (she wanted Daddy when I told her off) cue mass panic from me checking everywhere (even cupboards she couldnt possible fit in ) phoned my Mum and Dad who thought I was joking then realsied I wasnt Dad jumped in car to come down and I was just going to call police when I found her behind her door (I had swung the door back and it had hit the wall so didnt think to look there) Ellie said 'you squished me when you pushed the door ) had a rant at her for being so silly when I was calling her and then I burst into tears, she went to bed but Dad went to talk to her and she was sobbing sayinf sorry don't think she'll do it again (always have a phobia about them going out of front door as we live about 40seconds walk from a river)

My parents having the dd's next weekend so we can finish decorating our room and then off to friends who live round corner for dinner (he is a budding masterchef ) I can't wait and only 3 weeks and 6 days till Laughalot and I hit Dublin

eandh · 11/01/2009 20:12

sorry wilkie meant hope he enjoyed his party yesterday and sorry at even worse typing than normal

Wilkiepedia · 11/01/2009 21:33

OMG EAH - how scary and I would've reacted the same. It is a phobia of mine too but moreso since the Madeleine McCann thing, always always bolt the front door as soon as we come in as the hallway is shut off from the lounge and am scared of someone walking in, us not hearing and them snatching JJ. Stoopid and irrational but scary thought

Vino & Reg - very jealous of your child free weekends. Have a good birthday tomorrow Reg

Raisan - PMSL at truck in hair!!

Reggie - I am available Thur-Sun for meet up

J's party was an absolute hit. He really enjoyed it, it was at a soft play place. Made me feel all glowy to see my boy so grown up playing with his 'mates'

Dragonhart · 11/01/2009 21:56

Hi all! Happy New year. Sorry I have been a bit of a no show last few weeks but we have all been ill over christmas and new year so it has all been a bit chaotic here. Had an ok christmas but was hard without MIL. Then new year was pretty quiet.

Ruth's birthday went well. It was quiet but we all made her cake in the afternoon which was good fun. Nice to be all together having a good time tbh. We bought her a little kitchen for her birthday with loads of cut and play food for christmas so she has been having a great time with it all. Would def recomend it as Luke loves playing with it too.

We had a little family party yesterday and she loved it but by the end of the day she was all partied out and went to bed early.

Hope all the los have had good birthdays, sorry I missed all the ones so far but Happy birthday to J for tom and to Rgee.

Very of the childless weekends too!!

Hope everyone else ok. xxx

Dragonhart · 11/01/2009 22:21

Oh and my ss present never arrived. I dont suppose my secret santa got proof of posting so that you/i can claim? Not sure how it works but gutted.

eandh · 12/01/2009 05:53

DH - I will email your SS in case they don't see the thread glad R had a lovely birthday and completley understand what you mean about Xmas it was very strange when we saw DH family as his Mum was obviously thinking about her Mum

Wilkie - I am ringing the company that installed our front door today to find out if tehre is a special chain I need to buy to fit or whether any chain will work (not sure how you fit them to upvc) party sounds fab!

DH still being 'husband/dad' of teh year and no drinking since befire new year and really helpful with girls and thinking about me (he keeps leaving me little notes in places etc etc) its all very nice but after the crap couple of years we've had its all very strange, sort of feels like we're dating again

Eddas dd starts school today so I can't wait to get a text with a picture of her in her uniform and Ellie very as she wants to go with her

Lizzzombie · 12/01/2009 08:16

yay! People are back on here. I thought you'd all gone and got a RL or something!

Happy Birthday Rgee. 2 nights away from Lo doing grown up stuff sounds fab.

Glad J's birthday went well Willkie.

Very scary for you Eah!

I went to see 'Australia' on Saturday night. Have to say, I am in love with Hugh Jackman in it. He is absolutely gorgeous, and definately enough to make me emmigrate over there.

We had some friends over for lunch yesterday and one of the brought DJ a kite, so we spent the afternoon on the beach flying it....when I say we, I mean the adults. DJ just pointed at it, but wouldn't hold it!

Right am meeting a friend for breakfast on the beach later....yes, its flipping freezing outside. We are taking flasks of coffee with us. Anything to get out of the house!

DH - Good to see you on here. Bummer about your SS present.

Oh, btw, EAH - I am working in Hastings store next Saturday as they are short staffed. If you have a day out, don't hesitate to pop in!

Katw3kitts · 12/01/2009 10:55

If we'd had had our kite out yesterday.... well I'd be in Brighton by now !

Its lovely today though, blue sky and calm.

What a frightening thing to happen to you EaH. So glad its all fine now. Kids can really put you through the mill sometimes !

Do all of you really lock your doors then ?

I never do in the day, but do when its dark oddly enough I do !

oh oh ... playdoh out ... need to go ....

oh pmsl about the impromptu haircut !

ps regardless of whether or not she likes her shreddies Dr M looked fab and she had a gorgeous black bag that I am lusting over. I hope I look like that when I'm a granny

laughalot · 12/01/2009 14:13

Happy birthdy to rgee and j and all the little ones iv missed whilst iv not been on.

Just a quick post as I need to fetch my boy from school . He is setteling into school ok we have had a few tears but nothing major, it is such a long day for them though at that age. We had a little family get together yesterday for l birthday as hers is on wednesday I hate midweek birthdays . Oh and im stripping wallpaper off my staircase at the minute what joy !!!!!!!!!

2Happy · 12/01/2009 14:22

Sorry, Raisin, but absolutely snorted over the toy car getting stuck in hair!!! Glad the party went well otherwise!
Gosh, so many b'days! Happy birthday RGee, J, Ethan if Jodie pops by, and Ellen tomorrow. Glad parties all went well.
Reg - am away the first week in March, and the middle of Feb, but otherwise am free. Am sure can do a Thursday if that suits?
eandh - how frightening! Have recently discovered that ds1 can now unlock our front door by himself - we used to leave it locked but with keys in (in case there was a fire, on Loosh's instruction if you're reading!). Now we'll have to take the keys out.
ds1 seems to be slightly more settled at nursery, but he's sooooo tired. It's great [bad mummy] At the weekend he slept in until 8.30 Shame ds2 was up half the night being sick .
Hmmm. Am hungry. Off to find some food...

eandh · 12/01/2009 20:02

Quick one as been at work, still eating, only one child asleep and dh popped out!

Dragonhart have emailed you - your ss orderd you a online voucher but slight confusion with the ending of your email address, they have contacted company and your email confirmation should be with you by tomorrow!

Reggiee · 12/01/2009 21:30

Thanks for all the birthday wishes folks. Another year closer to the big 4-0....
Had a nice day - just had a Thai takeaway - big noms, and a small glass of red wine

eandh · 13/01/2009 05:31

I have been up for half an hour already but happy birthday Ellen

raisingrrrl · 13/01/2009 08:01

EAH - had a similar scenario to you last night; woke up at half 2 and couldn't find Z in his bed, eventually found him halfway down the stairs asking me for cereal. He was less than impressed when I put him back in bed and in the end would only sleep when cuddled right up to dh (who then snored so loudly none of us got any sleep) If anyone can shed any light on why Zac's suddenly asking for midnight feasts it'd be much appreciated - he eats a big tea at nursery at 4 and then has dinner at home with us at about half 6, so if he is genuinely hungry then I don't know what to do, should I give him food or would I be rewarding him waking up? Bearing in mind I only night-weaned him off the breast 5 months ago.

Argh. Bloody kids.

Been having lots of mad twinges, back pain and v painful BH's. Just need to hang on for 3 weeks so they won't put me in hospital!

eandh · 13/01/2009 08:50

Oh no raisan, I know Hattie has been eating loads more lately (coinceded with her finally getting a smidge taller ) so we have been giving her weetabix/porridge before bed (not all the time mainly when she hasnt eaten that well at dinner as she has her main dinner at 4.30ish) and that solved the problem (apart from fact she still wakes in the night but thats because shes normally managed to twist herself up in her duvet like a caterpillar and cant get out

vinorouge · 13/01/2009 13:11

2happy - I don't work thursdays so if we org a northern meet up for a thurs I can come too!

E was awake at 5.50 this morning so not too bad. She thought santa had brought her birthday presents though bless her. Sent her off to nursery with a 'patiller' cake (her word for caterpiller!)

Am getting a cold so feeling a bit sorry for self.

Lizzzombie · 13/01/2009 14:11

Vino - Santa bringing birthday presents is soo cute! Hope she has a good birthday.

Raisin - Whenever DJ wakes asking for milk in the night...or anything else, I am evil mummy and say "No". It usually happens when he's had a bad tea (alot then). He such a bad eater still it does my head in. We tried prawns on him yesterday. Made a nice child friendly cocktail sauce as one of my mates with DS's same age said they love it. Yeah, whatever. DJ thought I was trying to poisin him. Jelly and yoghurt is a balanced tea though, right?!
Can't believe you are only 3 weeks away! Thats gone soooooo fast.

Does anyone have a cake recipe for a 'tray bake' cake? Thought I'd be domestic and make DJ one to take to nursery. ...might do a giant prawn!

Katw3kitts · 13/01/2009 14:49

at all you with LOs that actually want to eat.

DS survives on weetabix, fruit and fruit, and of course anything sweet

Slightly off topic, but has anybody actually sold anything on MN before ? Got loads of nappies to sell and just wondering whether its worth paying for CAT ?

3 weeks !!!!!!!

Happy Birthday to everybody thats had or having one !

Lizzzombie · 13/01/2009 18:09

KwK - I have no idea what DJ manages to get his energy from. His eating habits are awful, I dispair!
After shouting "eggy bread!" at me, I made some, and made the mistake of melting cheese on the top. He noticed. Ate half of one quarter, eventually, after eating a bowl of jelly. He also chewed on one cherry tomato.
I give up. I have no idea how his nappies are so full!

2Happy · 13/01/2009 18:58

Good grief. Something my boys don't do!!! Have (touches wood) never had them waking up overnight wanting food. Waking up because the Tiger Who Came To Tea is in his bedroom, but not for food . Had feck all sleep last week and a half, in fact, and not sure who I want to sell on ebay first, the dses or the snoring ruddy husband

Am also unreasonably chuffed that ds1 helped me all the way through the making of brownies tonight - normally he just gets bored and wanders off after 5 seconds then comes back to demand to lick the bowl out at the end. At last! An activity we can enjoy as mother-son that doesn't involve tractors!!

DH - good to 'see' you. Hope your SS present sorted.
Vino - excellent, a Thursday it is!
Happy Birthday to Lal's Lauren and Loosh's William for tomorrow x
kw3 - sorry, never sold on MN, can't help. Got your car yet?!
Raisin - hope the pain eases. Also can't believe it's only 3 weeks!!!

Reggiee · 13/01/2009 19:00

Lizz pmsl at full nappies. Air is very filling and good for toddlers

Happy birthday to Ellen. I am jealous by her caterpillar cake. Nom.

Kat can't help I'm afraid. Would've thought MN would be a good place to sell, but no experience of buying or selling.

Raisin / Eah Pip has been eating soooo much of late too. Everyone's breakfast, double helpings of lunch and tea, then ridiculous number of snacks. Thankfully no night time adventures.

Had our work Xmas do today believe it or not. Gorgeous meal out and the afternoon off.

eandh · 13/01/2009 19:45

Well they scoffed around a quater of a leg of lamb between them for dinner tonight and loads of roast potatos but strangely not many veg

2happy- mmmm brownies (have you seen those aprons you can get with Mumms liitle helper on they do them in navy blue )

Lizz - bad mother putting cheese on it

Kat- I have bought and sold but tbh since they changed the layout etc I havent bothered much

Happy Birthday to Loz and William for tomorrow
