Rgee be prepared to get a shot of piss in your face . If you would like to give me a couple of hundred pound ill spend it on boys stuff for you. It is lovely to have one of each.

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 28/12/2008 08:37

Reg - boys are easy to change, just need to watch the wee! Sometimes I used to put a wipe over his willy whilst I faffed around with the nappies etc cos then if they wee it hits the wipe and doesn't go everywhere.

Clothes wise, rompers, dungarees etc are perfect up to 12 weeks then funky combats, long sleeved t-shirts etc but NO disney crap stuff. Sorry, just a personal choice but I have a 'thing' about branded clothes . Boots do great boys stuff as do Next. If I find out mine is a pink one, you may find a bag of boys clothes headed your way

Well, Christmas is well and truly over, DH back to work today (to play golf with his mates ) so am stuck on my own with J all day. How depressing is it once Christmas is all finished.

Just watched 'The Snowman' for the 14th time.....

Oh and J discovered his 'balls' last night. He was playing with his willy whilst he had his nappy off and then pulled on his balls and said 'What's this?' - so I said 'It's your balls (WTF do you call them that is nice and sweet like willy??)' so then he asked DH if he had balls, and then proceeded to chant 'JJ got balls, Daddy got balls' for about 10 mins. PMSL.

eandh · 28/12/2008 09:29

Morning - not up to much today may pop into town with Ellie if dh ever comes home from his bike ride (he left at 8.15 saying he was going to be back at 9 ) Ellie got a baking set for xmas so we've made chocolate chip muffins, orange and lemon muffins and animal cookies!!

I hate this time between christams and new year its crap!

2Happy · 28/12/2008 09:47

Grannies definitely object to the kids having nothing 'good' to open (by good they mean a useless plastic toy). They want to see excitement on the kids' faces, even if it lasts only 5 seconds until the next present comes along. I would much rather get money/vouchers. But my Mum objects if I ask for those for me let alone the kids! Also, dh needs seriously reining in. He is living his childhood through them - because he was tractor obsessed as a child, he loves all the tractor toys; but he forgets that when he was a kid, they way he satisfied his,er, urges was to spend time on the farm. We live in a fecking farm cottage FFS, the farm is just up the hill, the tractors drive past the house several times a day every day. Our kids don't need a house full of plastic tractors, seed drills, cultivators, ploughs, crop sprayers, swath turners, combines, flat bed trailers, grain trailers, fertilisers, bailers... you get the idea!!

Now I am clearly doing something wrong as I have never been peed on by either boy. Yes they have occasionally peed when I've changed their nappies, but I've never had it in the face [relieved]. Second the make sure the willy is pointing down tip. Makes a big difference! I personally think nappies are easier in boys than girls, fewer crevices for shit to get stuck in IYKWIM!! Clothes are definitely cuter for baby girls, but you can get some real cool stuff for boys. I also think that next is really good for boys clothes. jojomamanbebe is also good, though pricey (good for Chrismtas presents, lol)

PMSL at J and his balls! I think we coyly call them 'bits and bobs' .

PMSL at the beer too! Did H have a hangover then?!

UD - glad mil wasn't too poisonous! Are you going to try potty training this summer? I'm thinking of this summer. ds2 does like to say wee-wee and stand at the toilet, but has never yet produced anything, he's just copying ds1. Would love to not have any nappies (well, except nighttime ones, I suppose). Talking of which, I smell a smell...

Morning everyone, glad you all (just about) survived xmas. We got back from Dorset on Saturday night, it didn't get above 1 degree the whole way back (4.5 hours!!) Our house is now full of Thomas stuff, fire engines and a police car. Each of which has been clutched to as if it were surgically attached and slept with already!
I have no idea what to get him for his birthday now though!
I went to Next sale yesterday, although I was a day late not alot worth buying this year. M&S sale more successful, HSM cheerleader outfits for £7!!! And Boots sale very good but trying to hold out for the 75% off one.
Boys clothes are definately not as cute as girls, but we have lots of stripey t-shirts, and long sleeved body suits are great under short sleeved t-shirts for a good layered look. My main bug bear is finding nicely lined trousers, as I think jeans against their little legs can be too harsh when its cold. So I am always looking out for fleecy lined ones, or knee length socks.
DJ only peed on me once - UD, you must be doing something different! One of my sisters DT's got me right in the face once, and I learnt from that. its the cold which makes them go when you are changing them. I always covered his willy with something when changing him - wipe or cotton wool ball. Easy. I actually find it easier changing a little boy than making sure all the 'crevices' of a little girl are clean.
DJ hasn't found his balls yet, but he is very 'in touch' with his willy. He often brushes his teeth in the bath (we have teeth brushing tantrums daily) and he will be siying "brush teeth, brush teeth, up down, side to side"...then suddenly it changes. "Brush willy, side to side, brushing willy, up, down..."
Right, I need a coffee.
Hope you all have a good new years xxx

theSuburbanDryad · 29/12/2008 08:42

So.

Got mad backache and a nasty stomach ache. And my boobs are really sore, like I've got a let-down happening all the time.

Think I'm off shopping today for baby stuff, given that this poor baby has nowhere to sleep (we've got the Moses basket but no sheets for it!) and nothing to wear except a cardigan my mum made her!

I do, however, have a tin of powdered formula and a load of bottles which MIL bought me for Xmas. Um, thanks.

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 29/12/2008 11:46

UD - perhaps little bubs is about to pop out?
Have you chosen names? What is your due date?

Am struggling with boys names at the moment. List so far is: Solomon (Sol), Roan, Rory, Oscar... DH likes George and William which are lovely names but I want something unusual. Any suggestions?

PCF/Reg - have you got any ideas for names yet?

We have the girls name picked but that is under wraps.

theSuburbanDryad · 29/12/2008 12:16

Wilkie - I love Solomon and Rory. In fact, Rory is going to be this baby's middle name if it's a boy! I like slightly unusual names as well, it's so hard for a boy to be original without being outlandish though - which is why we picked Zachary, although I know quite a few Zak's he is the only Zachary I've come across of his age. Solomon would go well with Jacob!

Baby not due until end of Feb but I've been having BH all day today and was having them on Saturday night as well - could just be stress reaction to MIL though!!

eandh · 29/12/2008 12:53

I love Rory and Oscar (lathough know a few Oscars that were born last year) my cousin is Solomon (known as Sol) if we'd had a boy names were going to be Freddie, Thomas, Jack, Fletcher (loved that when I was expecting Ellie) Toby (dh hated that) Zane

Lizz - glad you had a good trips saw dome of your dps photos on faceook lovely pic of you and dj

PCF - I didnt name either of the girls we had a shortlist of 2 for Ellie (Isabelle or Ellie) and 3 for Hattie (Jessica, Charlotte or Hattie) but dh picked the final name both times

UD - the pile of clothes has grown may be popping to Tesco later if so will get a box and at MIL lovely gift, any chance you can donate formula to local refuge or something?

Just me and HAttie today (I am on leave at work till Friday) we've been to town and got Hattie new shoes and pmsl at her, there were 2 pairs that fitted black patent (she alweays has black patent!) or pink ones, tried the black ones on and she kicked them off saying no, no, no, tied pink ones on and she said 'wow' and blowing kisses at them, I tried to buy black ones but she refused to have them on and just kicked them off so ended up giving in and letting her have pink ones (they are cute though and were only £15 in the sale!)

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 29/12/2008 12:57

Ooooooooooooo Fletcher and Zane.... now I LIKE those too...

eandh · 29/12/2008 13:00

If I had a boy right now (like I am ever doing that again!!!) I think he'd be Zane!

eandh · 29/12/2008 13:02

Right am looking through Ellies preschool register and then thinking about friends babies etc and unusual names are

Logan
Riley
Charlie (notunusual but not many of them)
Frazer
Preston (my brother loves this name!)
Beau

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 29/12/2008 13:03

Just text my sis and she says they are chav every name I like she thinks is chavvy other than George and William. She has NO imagination. This is why once it is decided I am telling NO ONE!

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 29/12/2008 13:04

Fraser (with an 's') is nice but no keep on others. I always think of Beau as a girlie name

eandh · 29/12/2008 13:05

My Mum was very vocal about Fletcher ( to the point where even dh snapped at her!) she hated Hattie's name for months, still doesnt like it that much but doesnt comment about it anymore

TinselCoveredWILKIE · 29/12/2008 13:05

*not keen (not 'no keep')

eandh · 29/12/2008 13:06

I think Zane your surname is lovely

Lizzzombie · 29/12/2008 13:19

stompy stompy stomp.....

My sister and Dh arrived on Boxing day at my parents and they were ill with a d&v bug. Nice. Tried to keep distance.
DP is in bed with it now.
My Dad has it too.
If I get it I am going to be sooooooooooooooo angry with sister.

They could have just stayed at home.
DP never takes holiday, and was off today to do something nice, and is off tomorrow as DJ is not at nursery & I have to work. If he is ill I will have to take it off as unpaid. Very very

I think George is a nice boys name, I live next door to a Harry, and I love Ben. (DP's name) and Tom, but that doesn't go with DP's sirname so we didn't go for that.

What is your MIL doing getting formula and bottles in for your baby UD??? I always suggest they don't do that when MILs/Grannies to be come in wanting to buy them. If only because you might not want X brand anyway, on top of the whole preferring to BF anyway thing! What a strange fish she is.

My new boots (birthday present from my parents) arrived this morning so I have been extra stompy in them. They are a pair of new CAT boots. And dead comfy and practical. And I am determind they won't fall apart. DP think they look like lesbo boots. To go with my lesbo shoes. They were from Barratts online, and I got 10% off and free delivery, so I am a little bit happy after all.

Laters xxx

Lizzzombie · 29/12/2008 13:24

DJ goes to nursery with little boys called:
Sonny
Frankie
Ty -
Yoshi
Gabriel
Benito
Georgio
Lewis

Not many girls:
Isla
Chloe
Izzy

I love Chloe but there are so many around.
And I love Charlotte - to be shortend to Charlie for a girl.
I really wanted Delores for a girl but, it means 'our lady of sorrow' and DP was having none of it!

Wilkiepedia · 29/12/2008 13:32

Lizz - so for you at your sis and DH. Were the DTs ill too? Why don't people stay away when they are ill? I just don't geddit.

OOh, I like Abigail to, and Agatha. (Abbi & Aggie!)

DTs weren't ill. BUT its weird. They have never ever been sick - as in vomited - ever in their lives. They are 3.5 years old. Only one of them has had a temperature ever, and that was in October with an ear infection. She has been really lucky with their health so far.
I've already told my sister that if DJ pukes, I will be sending it in a box back up to her as it will have been her who infected him.

Has anyone seen any nice jeans in the sales? I really need some nice ones.

2Happy · 29/12/2008 14:57

f!k me UD, your mil gave you formula and bottles for Christmas??!!! That would be a weirdass Xmas present even if you intended bottle feeding. She sounds like Loosh's Mum who kept trying to sneak formula into gorgeous W the whole time . FWIW BHs are much worse 2nd time (as are afterpains), but if you do go into labour you will let us know, and do/get dh to do a live blog type thing for us Been feeling broody this past couple of weeks , I'm sure it'll pass! BTW when you referred the the cardigan your mum had knitted "her" were you telling us something?!

Oh, Lizz, I really hope you don't catch it, surely you're due a bit of no illness for a while?! I think there's a gut thing going though because when I went to pick dses up from CM today one of the other mindees was passed out on the sofa having apparently been really poorly all yesterday .

On the subject of CM, I've got to say I have the world's best. For Christmas, she got us 2 tickets to the local (well, it's an hour away but that's the nearest!!) cinema plus she babysit for us! She's so sweet!

Names. Hmmmm. If you want something different you could have Ruaridh (Scots version of Rory) though maybe that's a bit wanky if there's no celtic in you! We were going to have Iona for a girl.

Bollocks, I switched this on to do work, not witter....
