I'm feeling very despondent about it today jammy and wondering if it's worth it

Off to curl up on the sofa with a hot drink and my misery.

HaveYourselfAJammyLittleXmas · 05/12/2008 10:05

Only you can decide if it's worth it for you and F, Daisy. You know all the facts. It's very easy for anyone to sit here and say "oooh, yes it is worth it...." but it's not our boobs that are in pain etc.

HaveYourselfAJammyLittleXmas · 05/12/2008 10:07

But rest assured that whatever you do we will all support you and sympathise with you as appropriate all the way!

Morning Butterfly

I am wondering how long my daughter is going to sleep for Last night she slept on my lap from 5 - 5.45, then was asleep again in her cot by 6. She woke briefly in the evening, had some milk and then back to sleep until 6.30am, and has now been asleep since 8 this morning! So she has slept for 15 of the past 17 hours

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 10:25

thanks jammy and butterfly.

I've had a look on kellymom and it says to discuss ABs with the doctor if there are any signs of infection or red streaking is present.

I've got an appointment with the doctor at 5pm, so I'm going to feed and feed and feed off that boob in the meantime and express from the other one and see if that doesn't help a wee bit, but I'm not sure if the infection will clear itself without ABs?

I'll call the NCT today as well, I have a direct contact for a local BFC.

and there was me crowing enthusing about how good his latch was yesterday

and yes, I still have DH at home, thankfully. I am dreading him going back to work though as I've had a difficult start to things and feel shite even with him here; what it'll be like when I have to fly solo I can only imagine.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 10:26

jammy, sounds like she is sleeping off whatever bug she has. I'm a great believer in the healing power of sleep.

NattyTurkeyAndEggnog · 05/12/2008 10:45

oh daisy im so sorry you're having such a hard time of it, dont forget we are here to help and not to judge, so whether you contiue or switch to formula is entirely up to you.

glad your DH is home atm, when does he go back?

my kids have woken up naughty today... and i feel incredibliy sick lmao!

ImDreamingOfANortyXmas · 05/12/2008 11:03

Daisy....hope you get it sorted.

Formula isn't the root of all evil.....my DD seems ok and intelligent despite it.

Jammy....let her sleep.....she must need it....poor thing

ImDreamingOfANortyXmas · 05/12/2008 11:09

My DD woke up naughty as well Natty.....but she can be naughty at nursery . She's only had an advent calanar for 4 days, and she stands there screaming at it every morning, but I won't give in. Its for after dinner. We had throwing on the floor, kicking legs and everything this morning.....all for a chocolate coin

Sputnik · 05/12/2008 11:12

Poor you Daisy fwiw the 1 time I had mastitis it came on really quickly with a high temperature etc and I hadn't even realised I had a blocked duct, but then it cleared up on it's own with lots of feeding, luckily. It felt like I had flue. Hope you can sort it.

Jammy sounds like the Jamlet is sleeping it off, best thing for her.

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 11:18

It's not about formula as such, I have no issues with it at all as DS1 was FF from 6 weeks old, it's more about my state of mind and wanting to breastfeed rather than not wanting to FF if that makes any sense?

My DD wakes up naughty every day

gotta go, promised DH I'd do a shopping list while he was out, and he has just pulled up outside and I have no list!

HaveYourselfAJammyLittleXmas · 05/12/2008 13:00

I think she has been sleeping it off She slept until 10.30, and then we went shopping. She was good until we got to Woolies - huge signs up to 50% off everything. But it was packed and it freaked her out and she started screaming She still isn't eating much, but is much livlier this afternoon I think she's over the worst of it

Ages ago I got a nursery rhymes CD from the library and "backed it up" to my hard drive . We are now listening to it and she is finding it very odd that the laptop is singing to her!

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 14:28

Got my size 1 tots bots today (they swapped them no problems and even uplifted the size 2s so I didn't have to pay any postage)....and they sent the unbleached cotton ones which are just lovely......I heart freebies

I'm sitting unpicking the aplix from them though so I can use nappy nippas!

HaveYourselfAJammyLittleXmas · 05/12/2008 14:30

I like tots bots

HaveYourselfAJammyLittleXmas · 05/12/2008 14:34

Ooops, can you tell Jamlet was interfering there?

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 14:36

I do. I only had one when DD was little that I got as part of a job lot of 2nd hand ones I bought and I really liked it.

Only problem is that tots have cut the label off eight of them (to distinguish them from the other eight in the trial) and this will affect the re-sale value

NattyTurkeyAndEggnog · 05/12/2008 15:29

lol daisy!
you will have to keep me informed of any promotions that come up, i heart freebies too especially nappies ellen just put a WHOLE mince pie in hergob at once.. that child astounds me

HaveYourselfAJammyLittleXmas · 05/12/2008 15:42

Jamlet stuffed so much banana in her mouth earlier that her cheeks were all puffed out and she had a little bit of banana sticking out that looked just like a pig's snout! Truly a little piggy

NattyTurkeyAndEggnog · 05/12/2008 15:49

yeah ellen is awful. the other day i said she could have a cake when she finished her sandwich and she pushed the whole thing in her mouth and signed more and pointed at the cake, as she couldnt talk cos her mouth was bulging!

how is everyones LO's doing with talking? i think ellen is quite far ahead for her age, as tom had practically no words at this age... but then comparing her to a child with language problems possibly not the best yard stick??

and can anyone elses LO dress themselves?

im finding ellen amazing atm, as tom i still have to do everything for, and ellen is actually further then him atm, just wondered whether or not i can boast? lol!

TheTwelveDAISYOfChristmas · 05/12/2008 16:07

DD can undress herself Natty .

she can put things over her head but struggles with the armholes

Her language is pretty good with a few words being added every week.

She is really good fun and is obsessed with drawing at the minute and her fave toy is an etch-a-sketch type thing.
