Oh and I agree with MM about the fact that she'll suddenly do loads at once. DD learned to sit up and then did nothing for a long time then suddenly within the space of about 2 weeks she was crawling, pulling up, walking holding onto stuff. So i'm sure your DD wont' be long now at all.

BTW, MM - It's really lovely listening to Nathans progress and I find myself doing little cheers as though he was my own baby/brother etc with you.

simpson · 22/11/2008 23:03

Madmouse - she will bear weight if i have her lightly from arm pits and no won't laugh for me wth peek a boo looks at me like I am a loon but if DS dos it it is the funniest ever!!

If there is something to keep her attention her sitting is fine!! record time 5mins today.

I do think that because she was ill and lost weight has delayed her some what but not worried now she can (ish) sit up!! Was trying to get her to clap hands today but she was having none of it. DD VERY strong willed when she wants to be!!

madmouse · 22/11/2008 23:10

Nathan has some balance issues that come with cp but he can sit on my lap and watch telly for aaaages (10mins plus), it is when he decides to do something that he gets busy and topples sooner or later. we now have exercises to develop balance.

lucky thanks for saying that, so sweet, this thread has been a rock from day one.

LuckySalem · 22/11/2008 23:13

I'm glad it helps

simpson · 22/11/2008 23:14

Madmouse - DD couldn't sit for ten mins I don't think She won't stick hands out to save herself if she falls. BUT ashe is better than she was a week ago so maybe getting there slowly

madmouse · 22/11/2008 23:18

have you tried to see what happens if you prop her up on her hands in front of her?

catching sideways comes a bit later and catching backwards comes last.

Nathan always falls sideways lol, when he is busy bashing some toy or other and gets carried away.

LuckySalem · 22/11/2008 23:29

She'll get is Simps - Have you tried this? Ebay will have it cheaper.

simpson · 22/11/2008 23:40

Madmouse - if she has her hands in front of her she can last a lot longer. But still not 10 mins. That is what is what I have been doing the last couple of weeks etc. But she won't move hands to stop herself falling.

Lucky - At the party we went to today they had that toy and she just tried to lie down in it and when she couldn't got quite cross!! She does sit in bumbo though.

LuckySalem · 22/11/2008 23:44

LOL - sounds like DD. We're trying to persuade her to stand alone and she's cotened onto us so when we try to stand her up she just buckles her knees under her and sits on the floor - then when you let go of her to get her again to lift she crawls off at breakneck speed!! LMAO

You just have to let her get there at her own speed - she WILL

Lilyloo · 23/11/2008 10:13

Morning ladies. Eye much better today. Can see properly
Snowing this morning here. Only a dusting . Gone now though just horrible raining.
George slept from 7pm-6am had a bottle and slept till 8 I don't know what to do I feel human. My first night solid sleep in about a year !!
Ouch re teeth and gums.
Lol jks yes kids can be violent little sods. Not intentional ofcourse
I don't believe in these 'baby must do this by blah blah months'. David didn't crawl till he was roughly 11 months and didn't walk till he was 15 months. I guess the other 2 have done these things a little quicker because they have folloewd there older siblings. You can see Georges frustration when his brothers run around him though. Desperate to get on his feet.
Well not alot happening here today.
Hope you all have a good one whatever your doing .

LuckySalem · 23/11/2008 17:56

ladies - is anyone experiencing this? if so, please help

JustKeepSwimming · 23/11/2008 20:05

Re milestones & Henry:

Baby should be able to
1 - Stand holding onto someone or something YES
2 - pull up to standing from sitting YES
3 - object if you try to take a toy away YES LOUDLY!
4 - say "mama" or "dada" indiscriminantly YES
5 - play peekaboo YES
6 - exchange back and forth gestures with you. MAYBE NOT SURE WHAT IT MEANS?

Baby will probably be able to
1 - get into sitting position from stomach YES
2 - play patty cake (clap hands) or wave YES WAVES VAGUELY
3 - pick up tiny object with thumb and forefinger YES
4 - walk holding furniture NO, NEARLY THOUGH
5 - understand no but not always obey it. NO

possibly be able to
1 - stand alone momentarily YES MOMENT-ARILY!
2 - say mama and dada discriminantly NO
3 - point to something to get needs met. NO

and he walked quite a few steps holding my hands today
DS1 was walking on his first birthday, cannot see that H will take that long!
On the other hand, he still can't roll, so if you put him on his back he is like a turtle! stuck
AND, nearly all of these have happened in the last 10 days, so don't give up hope anyone.

plus i believe they are just a guideline, if baby is fine in other respects it's not a big deal, more if they are consistently behind in every department all the time imo.

lucky - ds2 normally has ds1 to watch/entertain him so we don't have such a problem. when ds1 is away (nursery/pre-school) and we are at home, he def needs more mummy attention than otherwise so i know it's tiring.

gingeme - glad eye is improving.

aiming for another early & good night tonight. good luck all

LuckySalem · 23/11/2008 20:07

JKS - Does he make any noises when you ask questions is what the back and forth is - DD does this all the time even if your not asking her a question she just sits there umm(ing) lol

Good luck on the evening and glad that DS is suddenly getting things.

JustKeepSwimming · 23/11/2008 20:15

sort of i suppose.
and if i shake my head, he does too, then won't stop, lol!

he almost sounds like he's saying words too.
don't know if you know the 'there's a worm at the bottom of my garden' song?
well dh sang 'and his name is.....'

and we both swear he tried to say 'wiggly woo'

LuckySalem · 23/11/2008 20:21

DD is saying all sorts of "words" lately!! We're having og alot and ca and for some unknown reason god! lol

Today she was sat in front of the mirror having a lovely conversation but damned if I know what it was abou!!

I dont know the song i'm afraid but sounds cute as hell. Have you ever heard the song "wind the bobbin up?" DD does the clap hands part at the right time at the mo... thats cute too.

JustKeepSwimming · 23/11/2008 20:26

ds1 tries to get me to do that one when we're driving, lol!

There's a worm at the bottom of my garden
And his name is wiggly woo
There's a worm at the bottom of my garden
And all that he can do
Is wiggle all night
And wiggle all day
He just wants to wiggle away....
There's a worm at the bottom of my garden
And his name is wiggly, wig wig wiggly woo!

Gingeme · 23/11/2008 20:46

Yep thats it jks.
Wow at wind the bobbin up clapping. My two year old is just about doing that. Mind you he absolutely loves that song.
George offers you his head if you ask for a kiss. He waves bye bye too. Tries to make a few words but I'm convinced he says Edward, ds4's name. He gets all excited when he sees him and says 'Edard Edard' or so it sounds He just loves being lead around by your fingers. Tries to take steps. He just loves chatting to himself in the mirror. His new thing is pretend coughing with tongue sticking out little sod!!

LuckySalem · 23/11/2008 20:48

Oh Ginge - DD does that. I tricked her the other day and gave her her juice cup empty she took a suck from it and started coughing her guts up!! lol - Its our fault co we make such a fuss of her when she does it and she seems to love making people laugh..

So cute with the edard! I'm sure he'll get it properly soon as wel.

Lilyloo · 23/11/2008 20:54

We def have an Arry here too !
Had lovely aft am really full eat wayyyy too much but had nice time! Surprising how that tea time can pass when you are away from home!
All dc in bed had nice afternoon and my nan loved her pressie!!

OP posts:
madmouse · 23/11/2008 20:56

Nathan coughs as a way of attracting attention, seesm to think it is very funny, but then he also thinks sneezing is funny.

He says ke, re, urreh, drwe, ah, ay-oh, de de de. Very vocal at the moment.

And loves having two way conversations with you repeating what he says over and over again for about ten mins.

He waves and 'where is mummy's nose' is starting to come. He reaches out for what he wants and follows your finger when you point.

LuckySalem · 23/11/2008 20:57

oh thats so cool MM - It amazing what sort of wierd things come out. I can't remember what DD was saying today (the bit I couldn't understand) but it was so wierd I tried my hardest to pick out words but best I could hear was og (dog) ca (cat) and god (?) lol The rest of it was total babyspeak!! lol

simpson · 23/11/2008 21:27

DD likes wind the bobbin too but her favourite is row the boat as she sits on my lap and holds hands up for me to hold and rocks with me!! So Sweet

MrsMcJnr · 23/11/2008 21:47

Hey ladies here to catch up before bed!

Gingeme · 24/11/2008 09:40

Oooh madmouse watch your eyes when Nathan is looking for Mummys nose
Well Saturday night was definately a one off with the 11 hour stretch. Up at 12.30 for a bottle then up again at 6 am
Just took all the boys to drop ds3 off to school. dh normaly does mornings but hes doing his yearly train operative exams so I have to do both school runs this week. It was nice to see some Mums I don't usualy see in the afternoon. They all commeneted on how big George is now and was beaming at them all
