Hi

JKS - glad you had a good night out Think chocolate bribes is the way to go...DS being a bit funny at using loo ATM just when he has been fine for months so am resorting to bribery too!!!

Going to a birthday party this afternoon and I get on well with quite a few mums there so it should be good fun.

DH gone to work ok. He got up with the DCs this morning and let me have a lie in He is going to find out how much his salary would drop by if he stepped down. Bit nervous about it actually as it a)could not be enough to keep us afloat or b)am worried that this might be slippery slide downwards of what DH can do

DD is absolutely hanging...but still won't sleep. She is now screaming blue murder in cot...best dash!!

Lilyloo · 22/11/2008 10:52

Just a quick post had lie in until 8.30 , dc gone to Nemo and dd2 in bed! Just read mag and off for a bath!
Oh and last night she did 7-11.30 then to 4.45 woohooo

JKS glad you had good night!

Simpson enjoy party!

Dunno what it is about Friday night but DS slept 8-5.45. Why can't he do this on a work night???

We didn't do soft play yesterday but went into Newcastle Christmas shopping - took him to see the Fenwick's window (a time honoured tradition up here) which is Oliver Twist this year. He took no notice of it.

Mum posted DS an advent calendar but when we got home dog had got to it first, shredded it and ate every single chocolate.

It's snowy up here and brrrrrr - it's cold!!!

A pink one MrsMc! Lovely.

I noticed again and again when in all the big shops yesterday, loads of just gorgeous clothes for little girls. Got DS a little Peruvian style hat though that ties under his ears as he keeps pulling all his other hats off.

Did someone say something about Huggies nappies? Do you think they are best at keeping them dry at night? If DS sleeps though he sometimes has a leaky nappy by morning which I feel bad about.

Toothache and sore eye yuk, hope better soon ladies.

madmouse · 22/11/2008 13:05

Hi Ange, I bought a pack of Huggies superdry size 4 (Nathan is somewhere on the way to 16lb)and he keeps dry in them from 8 til 9 despite feeding 3 or 4 times in that time. They weigh a ton in the morning but no leaks.

JKS glad you had fun

Lily enjoy

Simpson, does dh work for a large company? If they have an HR department they may be able to support him to stay in work

Well, Nathan was ok really , fed 12 and 3.30, quick settle at 5 then slept til 8 , dh however had major coughing fits so I spent a lot of time rubbing his back. at some point I said I was desperate for sleep and he managed to say 'not half as much as I am' was not veery impressed with that

but poor man has to write sermon today and lead and preach tomorrow. don't envy him.

been to tesco this morning, going swimming this afternoon with Nathan

Gingeme · 22/11/2008 15:11

Afternoon ladies. I kinda half read through the posts , with my good eye!. Sore one much better today thank goodness. Actuly got some sleep last night.
I get migranes in early pregnancy too
I hope you enjoyed the party Simpson and had a good chinwag
Ouch lucky maybe a drop or lots of brandy might help
Lillyloo I am totaly paranoid about anything near my eyes/face now. Especialy fingers
Well sorry if I didn't mention anyone but its hard to do this with blurred vision.
Hope you all have a good wekkend xx

LaTrucha · 22/11/2008 17:33

GLad you liked the picture! . I usually go and take it off and put it next to her cheek. It often goes back on in the night, or she turns on her sides and snuffles it.

Just popping in. Does anyone know about this?

simpson · 22/11/2008 19:59

Hi

Just want to say DD FINALLY sat on her own for...5 mins before falling over

JustKeepSwimming · 22/11/2008 20:27

Simpson - yey!!! how was the party? Hope dh figures out something with work that can destress him.

lily - last night was better then? hope tonight is too...
in terms of the boys last night would have been good:
ds2 7-1.47 then 6 then 7.30
ds1 7-6.18

if only last night had been a night i went to bed at 8, i could have had 5.75+4 = over 9 hours!!
of course i went out, chatted when we got back, didn't want to leave the 'do', didn't want to go to bed, ended up with 3hrs instead, lol!

anyway, hoping for a good night from them tonight so i can catch up a bit.

ange - it's called sods law!! bad luck re the advent calendar - bet the dog thought all his christmases had come at once

lucky - how's the tooth?

madmouse - hope dh sleeps better for you tonight! and ds too

gingeme - some of my worst injuries have been caused by the DCs:
c-s scar of course = h
serious bruise/swelling right by my eye = t & his bricks
regular sore nose from head-butting = both as babies
scratches, bruises, bitemarks....
violent sods aren't they!

LaT - that picture is fabulous!
will have a look at other thread in a mo...

haven't been good on diet last few days, must try harder from tomorrow

simpson · 22/11/2008 21:29

JKS - party was brill Dcs had a great time. DD so distracted by other kids she just sat (by herself!!) and watched

Had a good old chinwag/gossip with the other mums

DD ate 2 small veggie samosas, a cheese twirl and a piece of cake...by herself!! Then she came home and had salmon and mash. Think her appetite is back!!

DD's new trick when put down for a nap in the day is not to cry but yell "mum mum mum mum" till I give in and get her

Going to my mum's for lovely, pleasing roast dinner tomorrow

Midge25 · 22/11/2008 21:34

Hi all...just found the thread. My dd is Eva, born Jan 29th...and not crawling yet! Do I need to be worried, d'ya reckon?

Midge25 · 22/11/2008 21:36

DD can join the violent club! Today she peeled back my bottom lip and scraped her fingernail down my gum. (Altogether now)OWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!

simpson · 22/11/2008 21:57

Hi Midge - glad you found us My DD is born 29th too and only sat up today for a long period of time.

No movement backwards or forwards yet but will roll in direction she wants to go.

Some los don't crawl at all...maybe she will go straight to walking

Ouch on your gum!!

LuckySalem · 22/11/2008 22:00

Welcome Midge - Ouch and dont worry about crawling some dont at all.

Simps - CONGRATS to DD!! Hope your feeling ok today.

Well another 5 hours sleep last night cos of damn tooth. DD woke at 6am but as she wasn't CRYING I didn't go in and she fell asleep again till 7:30 Didn't help me though.... Booo.

simpson · 22/11/2008 22:08

Lucky - when are you going to get tooth sorted?

madmouse · 22/11/2008 22:10

LaT I would not be too worried about supply, apparently us mature breastfeeders (ie still going strong at 10m) can respond very quickly to lo's demands. You do need to make sure you stay comfy, so unless you are good at hand expressing take a pump.

I am going to find out from 1 December what happens if I do not feed Nathan between 7 and 6 during the day as I will be at work two whole days.

Midge by now your child should be roughly:
sitting by herself and
having found some way of propelling herself, ie rolling, crawling, commando crawling (pulling on tummy cross the floor with arms), bum shuffling or even cruising.
some children never crawl and go straight to walking.
some children take longer to do the above and are perfectly fine

sorry, I am a bit of a mile stone person as my ds has mild cerebral palsy and we need to help him learn to do things like crawling.

am feeling a bit low. to be honest bit fed up with dh's cough and stuff, amazing how it is dominating the house. he has had headaches and a migraine too today, so has been really grumpy, no appetite for dinner, played computer games most of the day (except when migraine was bad), bitten my head off for no reason. am totally knackered due to no end of bad nights and no one who seems to care for me, ok now I am being melodramatic.

bed time soon, just done a pile of iron enough to make anyone depressed.

LuckySalem · 22/11/2008 22:14

They can't do anything until the gum "deflates" Its a wisdom tooth and cos my gums are so bad (years of drinking coke and not brusing my teeth) they've swollen around it so the only way they can do anything is to either wait till the swelling goes down then fill it in or remove if need be. Or I have to go to hospital to have an operation. I tink i'd rather wait for now.

simpson · 22/11/2008 22:18

Lucky - poor you ((hugs))How long is that likely to take..hopefully before you have to start paying!!

Madmouse - can DH sleep in a separate room so you can get as much sleep as poss? Sorry you feel down, lack of sleep is torture literately!! Rant to us as much as you can..we are all here ((hugs))

LuckySalem · 22/11/2008 22:23

Ok i've got my trusty "what to expect" book out and according to them at 10 months......

Baby should be able to
1 - Stand holding onto someone or something
2 - pull up to standing from sitting
3 - object if you try to take a toy away
4 - say "mama" or "dada" indiscriminantly
5 - play peekaboo
6 - exchange back and forth gestures with you.

Baby will probably be able to
1 - get into sitting position from stomach
2 - play patty cake (clap hands) or wave
3 - pick up tiny object with thumb and forefinger
4 - walk holding furniture
5 - understand no but not always obey it.

possibly be able to
1 - stand along momentarily
2 - say mama and dada discriminantly
3 - point to something to get needs met.

DOES ANYONE WANT 11 MONTHS OLD?

LuckySalem · 22/11/2008 22:23

Simpson - I have no idea. I'm hoping when I go back on 23rd they'll have some kind of idea.

simpson · 22/11/2008 22:38

Lucky - DD:
Will NOT stand holding on to anything
Will NOT pull up to standing
Will object if toy taken away
will say "mama & dada"
Not play peekaboo

Not get into sitting position from tummy
Not clap hand but will wave
Not pick up with pincer grip
Not walk holding onto furniture
Not understand no (but haven't have to say it too much!!)
Can point at things.

DON'T tell me 11mths LOL.

LuckySalem · 22/11/2008 22:43

Simpson - The book says some things can be delayed if they didn't have much tummy time.... does that sound like a reason? Although as MM says - babies get there in their own time.

simpson · 22/11/2008 22:50

Lucky - when she was really tiny she HATED tummy time but now always rolls onto tummy and the last couple of days has got herself into crawling position and if she is against wall/sofa etc can push off it. TBH now she is kind of sitting up not so worried and just think she will get there in her own time.

She still looks tiny although weight wise she is not but no hair/teeth etc makes her look younger iyswim. Someone at party today thought she was 8mths.

madmouse · 22/11/2008 22:52

simpson, Lucky, I do find lucky's list quite ambitious and i would reckon most babies will do one of the things on the first list a bit later than 10months.

Simpson will she not stand on your lap holding your hands? And what happens when you play peekaboo, does she not laugh at all?

Nathan does those things from the first two lists that are not interfered with by his mobility issues. although he does nto actually point, he is very good at reaching for what he wants

madmouse · 22/11/2008 22:53

cross post simpson that sounds fab, it looks like she has reached that point where she will start to do all at once. if she can get in crawling position she will learn to sit up soon enough.

LuckySalem · 22/11/2008 22:54

I dont mind reading the first one..... that keeps me sane as DD is doing all those but when you start getting to the lower ones I tend to shut the book as I think as long as she's doing the first list then she's fine. BUT I am a worryer so dont take what I say as anything
