Morning all

Just got letter in the post regarding DD's poo sample (sorry TMI) and she DEFINATELY has a dairy intolerance Bit pissed off TBH as pead made out dairy intolerance was all in my head. Grrr. I think I know my baby better than him Letter says stop ALL dairy products straight away and put her on soya but am convinced she can't tolerate that either (why didn't he listen...) and next appt isn't till Feb. Ho hum....

Lilyloo · 24/11/2008 13:06

Simpson just confirmed what you thought Can you go back to gp and ask for another apt sooner ?
Esp if she has intolerance to soya!
How awful that they really don't listen but had my doubts what he said when you told us too!

Lilyloo - have GP appt for DD today anyway about her thrush so will take letter in and show her.

Just rang hosp and they are going to call me back.

She does have skin tags on her bum but they are caused because she is straining so much because of the milk.

Also, my RL friends little girl has the same thing and we tried Molly on some of her soya milk and she hated it!!

Am sure there is formula I can get on prescription, but whether she will drink it is another thing...

DH just walked in from councilling...best go!!

fillybuster · 24/11/2008 15:43

Simson - there is some formula you can get (as you say, prescription only) that is dairy and soya free. Maybe worth getting your gp to prescribe it for the next 2 months, you obviously can't leave Molly suffering until feb . I get so frustrated when doctors dont/don't want to listen to parents who are clearly not imagining things....

Gingeme - ouch! my friends ds did that to him a couple of years ago and it was awful...glad its healing up ok. V impressed by the 11 hour stint - at least you know its possible now altho of course now its even more annoying to be woken! Love George's 'Edard'....sweet

Lucky - tooth sounds horrid. Actually, so does A's screaming - sorry can't help with that!

Madmouse - Am so glad the Huggies size 4's worked for you! ds was tall and skinny and huggies were the only ones that didn't leak. Tamara, on the other hand, we can use pretty much anything, altho I still prefer huggies.

Ange - try huggies

Nice weekend doing lots of fun things with the kids. Tamara's 3rd tooth (top) is now starting to poke its way through - not out yet but prob by the end of the week. She's mostly coping ok, although she obviously has phases when it hurts much more.

We're no-where near Lucky's milestones - a full 5 days before 10 months but somehow I doubt she's suddenly going to start moving or pulling up to standing or anything else . She's spent most of her life on her tummy but its made no difference!

She is clearly saying "Ari" (ds's name) very excitedly, we're getting some mama/dada and she's getting good at saying "ta" when she gets given something or hands it to us (her new favourite game, passing things backwards and forwards). She's clapping and pointing as well.

OK, its 4 hours since I started writing this, so there's probably been about a million posts in between....time to go and be productive again...

simpson · 24/11/2008 18:03

Just back from doc's

Trip quite stressful as DS decided to wet himself while in the waiting room. he has been dry for 5/6 mths and has wet himself for the last 3 days

Right DD got: cream for thrush, cream to rub on dry skin, soy milk (but chemist don't have it so have to go back tomorrow)

DS got more anti biotics for ear!!

Also picked up prescription for DH's medication.

Dh has been told to start cutting out his evening medication Not too sure about that...He has been told he will be on the other tablets for at least a yr.

Best go and bath DS...more later

LaTrucha · 24/11/2008 19:27

Sorry about horrible trip, Simspon.

I'm just checking in to say hi as I'm shattered. Sabela awake hourly last night and I have no idea why. The paranoid part of me says separation anxiety because all she wants to do is sit on me ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL day ATM. The sensible part of me says it was ags or teeth. I also messed up naps today - I didn't get her home in the pram in time for lunch - she fell asleep in the pram, wouldn't eat lunch afterwards and refused to nap in the afternoon. DH is at work late too - which gave me one lovely thing in my day. DD was missing her daddy (she was having her last bf and kept looking round at the door - he's always back by this time). I knew she wouldn;t see him before bed so I phoned him and asked him to talk to her. She was utterly astonished - open mouthed at the telephone and then gave it two kisses. Bless her little cotton socks and all the reast of her. Thankfully she also went to bed without a murmur.

I haven't really had time to catch up after the weekend.

I did get my period though .... am stalling on the giving up bf in order to conceive. Dh and I have tentatively said 15 December to stop, but mentally I'm nowhere near.

Sorry for self-obsessed post.

AngeChica · 24/11/2008 20:01

LaT, we are definitely, definitely having night time separation anxiety here. He goes down easy peasy but keeps waking in the wee hours - has stopped being so easy to settle. he is definitely "working" me to get me to stay with him in the room. Stands up all the time, I lay him down, he stands up and cries. Flings blankie out of the cot. Etc. It's all very frustrating. "What to expect" has some good advice but I feel we are in for a rough couple of months as he's always been clingy but I suspect it's going to get worse.

He's zooming around with the pushalong walker thing now. Likes to chuck all his toys out of the bath or the toy box. Also likes to gouge at our faces.

Lilyloo · 24/11/2008 20:06

Simpson sounds stressful what did they say about the soya intolerance ?

LaT so cute about her watching for daddy ! Do you really want to have your lo's close together can you not wait until Sabela weans herself likely in the next 12 mths before starting to try again ?
I have 3 years between each of mine!

Am shattered today hope dd sleeps well tonight. Have gutted the house this morning , swimming this aft , taken ds and friend to football training this evening and dp still not home yet!
Poor Martha she get's shipped from pillar to post!

Ange he sounds to be doing great how you finding his mobility , you may have heard how moblie Martha is and i finding it really hard!

susie if you are getting periods why do you need to stop before ttc? Is it because of the sickness/ maybe you won't get it this time?

well, Nathan spent his first morning at his childminder, from 8.30 til 1 while I had my last counselling session and went shopping for work clothes that fit. It went very well, he was happy as larry most of the time, she took him to the usual mums and tots at my church where he is used to going (she is from my church) and apparently just rolled and scooted across the floor for an hour. she is astonished at his energy and it explained when she changed his bottom why in her words there is hardly any of him, he burns it all off. he got a bit tearful and cross at boobie-and-nap time but in the end settled for petite filous, a bit of formula from a cup and a nap in her car.

I felt very weird, I have not been separated from him for so long since he was in hospital at 2/3 weeks old. Another settling in session on wednesday and then it is for real next week. eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek don't want to go

barely got any sleep, dh still coughing and nathan for some reason awake mostly between 3 and 5, then when I had to get up at 7.15 both men snoring .

if there is such thing as baby net Nathan has been in cahoots with Sabela and Alek . wonder what tonight will bring. he was very happy to see me when I picked him up and was a wee bit clingy. also had some difficulty getting a solid lunch in as he insisted on boob, boob and boob, until he sicked some up again . oh well, it will settle

madmouse · 24/11/2008 20:24

sorry, forgot to say Simpson follow your instinct re: daughter. If she is dairy intolerant she does not have to have soy milk. The gp can prescribe 'extensively hydrolised cows milk' formula, which has been treated so that it no longer gives intolerant reactions.

Lilyloo · 24/11/2008 20:25

Oh MM it will be fine glad he had a good day with cm!
Bless him booby booby. I have never gone to work still bf so hope it all pans out ok for you both. I need to do my notice this week. Where has the time gone she still seems such a baby!

OP posts:
simpson · 24/11/2008 21:36

Hope everyone having a good evening!!

Poor DD, it was all a rush this evening after doc's to feed her etc. When she went down to bed she was not a happy bunny at all!! Cue a BIG battle before she would sleep

Madmouse - GP wants us to try soy milk first...so we shall see. Have to pick it up from chemist tomorrow. Glad Nathan got on well with child minder

Lilyloo - You must be knackered after such a busy day...good sleep vibes your way!!

LaT - Sooo sweet Sabela looking for daddy then kissing phone

Angechica - Hope you have an easier night tonight, am dreading when DD starts standing up in cot..

Filly - Am trying to get DD to say DS's name but she is too busy laughing at him to speak

Hi to everyone else...hope you all ok?!

LuckySalem · 24/11/2008 21:43

Simpson - Was talking to mum about this as I was slightly worried about Aaliyah being allergic to food due to her rash and she said she used to give me goats milk as I was intolerant of both when I was younger (but am fine now BTW)

simpson · 24/11/2008 21:49

Funnily enough Lucky have just got off the phone to my mum at she mentioned goats milk too (great minds think alike!!)

It is a possibility but don't get it free on prescription but might get some for her cereal etc.

Doc reckons DD will have out grown it by the time she is 18mths (or earlier as its quite mild)

Hosp are going to make me an appointment to see a dietitian apparently.

LuckySalem · 24/11/2008 21:52

Do you not know anyone on a farm or anything like that? - Apparently my nain (mum's mum) bought a goat and let it graze on the garden, much to taid's (mums' dad) dismay

simpson · 24/11/2008 22:00

Unfortunately don't know anyone on a farm Guess a health food shop will have to do!!

countessofmontecristo · 24/11/2008 22:40

Hello everyone. Have sorted out my profile page and have downloaded a fairly recent piccie of toby.

Regarding talking, Toby does lots of chattering, none of which makes any particular sense. Sometimes I think he says Mama but maybe thats just my wishful thinking.
Says 'baba' lots and lots. Makes lots of funny noises, lots of brr brr brr, by messing with his hands over his mouth. Basically a cheeky little monkey who is into EVERYTHING! I should be so thin, the chasing after him I have to do, so why aren't I??? Haha

Lilyloo · 25/11/2008 10:57

Not a good day

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimming · 25/11/2008 11:06

countess - love the pic
&
gingeme - lots of lovely photos

must get organised and get some new ones on.

had orchestra meeting last night, light off 10.15
10.30 H up, fed, was screaming when i put him back in bed.
Managed to get some calpol down him (first night in a few days i've not given him some at bedtime, big mistake!) but he was still shouting.
T up
got T back to bed.
grabbed H and brought him into my bed & shut the door hoping to let T go back to sleep.
rang dh at work to vent!
then just decided right, enough is enough, you are going back to bed, plonked him back in bed - he went to sleep
3 - H up for another feed
6 - T up

so lesson learnt, he still needs some calpol at bedtime. i know his molars are coming through so it was silly really.

have lost track of what's happening...
simpson - you doc sounds a bit useless tbh, hope things move a bit faster.
is ds picking up on stress at home?
how is dh?

lucky - how is tooth?

um, that'll have to do, have birthday cards to sort out, hopefully flights to bermuda for brothers wedding to sort out, plus mountains of laundry, am so behind i am wearing 'silly christmas socks'
best go!

Gingeme · 25/11/2008 12:20

Everyone is amazed that George is only 10 months because he just wants to be walked round all the time now.We nearly had an all nighter again last night except DH has a bloody cough and had a coughing fit at 4am so woke George up luckily he had a bottle and soon settled back to sleep.George not DH
Got some Christmas presants yesterday. Very pleased with myself. Normaly have bought them all by now though.
Well off to clean the bathroom while the little ones are sleeping.
Have a good day all xxx

Amani · 25/11/2008 12:59

just want to say hello everyone - filly thanks for your lovely msg - will come back properly when I have caught up with things while I have been off. Thanks to all you ladies who posted on my sleep thread - really appreciate it.....

LuckySalem · 25/11/2008 15:42

Hey all,

Tooth still giving me a little grief but nowhere near as much as it was.
Have just put the heating on as am abso freezing!!

Does anyone have an LO with exzema? DD's seems to have come back with avengance and at one point I thought it might be food allergies but mum assures me its the same rash I used to have when I was little - eczema. She's got some cream in a huge white tub but nothing is helping it and if anything its getting worse.

Any ideas?

LuckySalem · 25/11/2008 15:43

Oh and Amani - please come back.

LS - remember my DD2 has terrible eczema? Well thankfully she grew out of it but we wetn through phases of watching what she ate/drank and being mega strict with keeping up applying creams etc - so I can understand how hard it can be. There are a lot of eczema creams out there so if one doesnt work go to your GP and ask for another with a different balance of ingredients and keep going until you find the right one for your LO. With DD2 we tried about 8 creams before we settled on Liquid Paraffin - the most moisturising.
