I'm not a charm bracelet type of person but I like the idea of giving something once a year.... She could have a necklace for each of them?

We put 2 toys up in the attic so she now has a music set, a small teddy, a plastic mobile phone, a bead thing & something else.... (can't remember)

I want to get her this and this

Then that's it for the day.

JustKeepSingingCarols · 15/12/2008 18:20

I know i've missed a bit but just popping in before bedtime.

Lucky - the first one may be ok, but i think she is already too old for the second.
Not that she wouldn't use it at all, but just that you've missed the beginning of the window when she would have started using it, iykwim?
We did that lost with ds1 (prob still doing it i'm sure!). we bought him a dinosaur roll-around thing for his 1st b-day and it was hardly played with.
DS2 has played with it loads already and in fact i was thinking of putting it away before Christmas.

the 1st one may be the same.
though it does say 1-3 so maybe not?

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 15/12/2008 18:28

I'm more stuck on the 1st one tbh cos while we were in ELC the other day she ignored all the other toys and spent about 15 mins straight with it so... The 2nd one is abit pricey so maybe not worth it.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 15/12/2008 18:51

Lucky - i would go with the first one too, especially if she played with it for ages in shop!!

LaT - my friend is doing the charm bracelet thing for her DD (now 3) and I think it is a lovely idea...may do the same for Molly on her birthday

HarkTheHeraldAngeChica · 15/12/2008 18:58

LaT - DH just got me a Pandora bracelet for my birthday and a little baby boy charm from DS! I love it.

Simpson we do have a group on facebook for Jan 08 mumsnetters - some old and current faces on there - but it's not very active TBH as we hav e this thread to chat on instead. But it is nice for photos of our LOs.

Been to works party this afternoon put DS to bed slightly worse for wear .

nicky6 · 15/12/2008 20:21

Hi all big waves and christmas hugs.

not been on for ages - one thing after another plus me back at work and in the middle of a murder trial.

Charlie absolutely (unbiased of course) gorgeous still NO TEETH and is still not moving but boy oh boy can she chatter and getting quite a few words now so all quite sweet,.

Charlie just started nursery full time - few tears from me but all in all seems ok. Dh been absolutley wonderful and did all the settling in with her.

Am glad everyone is doing well not had to time to catch up obviously but thought i would quickly post just to let you know i am still thinking of you all xxx

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 15/12/2008 20:42

Hi all

Nicky!! Was wondering where you had got to Glad you and Charlie are ok.

DD got hospital tomorrow at 11an and I have to take DS as have no one to look after him. DD also has her baby group Xmas party so hopefully I will make that for 1ish. Will take DS with me (don't tell the school!!)

Ds very chuffed today as Santa visited him at pre school and gave him a snow globe. Apparently all the reindeer were "busy" so Santa had Tigger helping. LOL.

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 15/12/2008 20:54

Ok so we'll get the 1st one (maybe for her birthday if DP really doesn't want to buy her anything else)

Charm bracelets are really growing on me now.

Hey Nicky!! Glad Charlie and you are good.

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 15/12/2008 21:02

Ok ladies - You're gonna have to cheer me up.

My house is a tip, my washing machine is still broken and aaliyah has the poops and barely eaten all day.

Depressing me abit

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 15/12/2008 21:19

Lucky - are you buying it direct from ELC?

If you register A's birthday you can get 20% off.

Otherwise I have code for online shopping 20% off.

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 15/12/2008 21:21

We were gonna buy direct cos of the xmas deadline but I can see if I can online it.
We're gonna be going to ELC anyway cos DP wants to see her playin with it again.

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 15/12/2008 21:25

Lucky

I am not surprised that little boy has cp. It sounded like it when you said his muscles in his legs are too tight to sit. You can put her in touch with me via facebook, or give me her email address.

Nathan has not been formally diagnosed but I think everyone agrees it is cp. It is a consequence of brain damage and he is displaying all the signs.

Also she can post on the special needs thread on mumsnet, just a bit f a warning there are some mums on there whose kids have it very severe so not to get frightened. It comes in so many different forms.

Susie don't worry too much about facebook and it is fine not to accept everyone. I have recently got rid of a few people who kept on using rather appaling language. Would you like me to suggest you as a friend to all the other mumsnetters so that they can adopt you, or do you prefer to pick them out yourself?

charm bracelets: I think charms look lovely on their own but a bracelet full I do not like. My mum had a simple golden armband (they call them slave bands in Dutch??)which was a 16th birthday present from her parents. I got it when she died and used to wear it a lot, but it taps on the desk when I write in court and I got out of the habit. I think I would prefer to buy a lovely piece like that.

Nicky, good to see you. Charlie like you then? I think you mentioned you were an early talker and late walker?

Nathan was on all fours tonight, had just started to go down on his tummy but looked at me. I sat in front of him arms out and said 'come one then come to mummy', he straightened up again and started rocking while looking at me and I thought he is going to do it! But he opted to drop on his tummy. But still...!

how's everyone else?

back to card writing

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 15/12/2008 21:30

MM - I've told her to look you up on FB. She's gonna put that she's Luckysalem's friend on it so you know.

Thank you for this as I really dont know how to help or "be there for her" I kept finding myself steering the conversation away from it cos I didn't know what to say.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 15/12/2008 21:38

Madmouse - That is exactly what DD does!!

I also had my arms out to her yesterday but she just laughed at me

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 15/12/2008 21:40

She found me!
What is that you threatening to kneecap her?

Just sent her a message.

Don't steer the conversation away from it, just ask questions. What does that mean for his development? And how are you feeling? Is there anything I can do to support you? Don't be afraid, just listen, talk and be yourself.

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 15/12/2008 21:49

She was telling me things that were happening on America's Next Top model and I'm taping it to watch it tomorrow - Highlight of my week

Thanks for this MM - You really are a lovely woman. If you can help other people during a time where I assume you'd like the help yourself.

Oh and WAY TO GO NATHAN! Won't be long now - then you'll be sorry! hehehe

MrsMcClaus · 15/12/2008 22:05

Poor you Mad what a disturbed night I am a bit worried that we are in for one of those, even though DS had a wonderful but exhausting time at his friend?s birthday party we have already had to go and settle him twice since he went to bed at 8pm

Lily ? how was the carol service and are you winning on the cleaning/ironing/Christmas card front?

Poor you Simpson, hope you feel better soon and that DD?s appointment goes well. How was DS?s party?

JKS ? hope the good nights continue

LaT ? parents are the same, thanks for asking my Dad ignores the fact I am pg and my Mum keeps telling me what a horror DS will be when B2 arrives and how irritating I?ll find him (because clearly that?s how she felt about me ) oh my hon 4am is very early to start the day

Hey Gingeme ? sounds festive at your house DS loved the party, it was fun

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 15/12/2008 22:07

MrsM - Am on your behalf at your parents reaction to all this... I hope something is sorted soon for you and you dont have to put up with thier toxic attitudes much longer. ((hugs))

MrsMcClaus · 15/12/2008 22:16

Doh! Missed a page

laT ? I?m with Simpson, not a facebook fan! I have a charm bracelet that I got for my Christening. I recently got all my charms soldered on properly and wear it quite a lot now and people always comment on it, I like them personally

Lucky ? the first toy looks good it was quite interesting watching DS play with his friend?s toys today, he wasn?t drawn to the ones I thought he would be thanks for your support on the parents front

Lovely to hear from you Nicky6 and glad to hear all is well with Charlie

Lily ? glad it went so well

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 15/12/2008 22:22

Definitely going to do the charm bracelet thing (thanks, LaT!!)

Want to get something each yr that DD will be able to say how old she was etc...ie for 1st birthday either a baby's bottle/dummy or highchair etc. Not necessarily something she will wear but will mean a lot iyswim.

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 15/12/2008 22:24

Do you know what the more you say it I really like the idea. But I'm definately not a charm wearer so maybe we can get a really nice display something or other in case she doesn't want to wear it.

Ladies do you think this is a good machine/price... I didn't want to spend this much but if it'll last then I dont mind. here

LaTurkey · 16/12/2008 12:10

Hi guys - can you say a little prayer for my brother today, who is in intensive care. He seems to have got drunk, mixed his meds - probably an accident - and done himself some serious and permanent damage. He seems to be out of danger. Feel exhausted and so sad.

Housemum · 16/12/2008 12:16

Hello - long time no see! It's months since I last posted so no clue what's going on but will try to get back into it. Just saw the charm bracelet idea - great - I had one for my Christening then a new charm every birthday. Never worn it, but love to look at it occasionally. Teenage DD has one and does wear hers soemtimes. (Hers and mine both stopped at about 10 or 12, can't remember exactly and that would mean getting off my chasir to look!)

Best dash - got to pop DD1 back to school - she's on study leave and has another mock exam this afternoon. (I spent last night doing trigonometry - I had to swot up in her revision book first as I didn't have a clue!!)

Gingemejinglybells · 16/12/2008 12:55

Morning ladies.
Hi housemum
We had playgroups Christmas party this morning. Father Christmas payed us a visit. George was non plussed about him and Edward liked him once he realise he was getting a gift
Edward was sick last night. Thankfully only the once and went back to sleep after changing his bed etc but I left the bowl in the room just in case. Went in there room this morning to Edward handing me the bowl saying 'sick, sick'. The bowl was wet but not with sick. He had taken off his nappy and done a wee in it . Not potty training him yet but might give it a go after Christmas.
Gonna take the wood up in the hallway soon. Our carpet is being layed tommorrow
