Hi all

Raining here too

Am like Ange, only do pressies with one friend's DC at Xmas otherwise by DS's age there are LOADS of them.

I have a box in attic and whenever I see bargain ie tescos had a plastic cricket set reduced from £10 to £3 a few weeks ago...I buy it and put in box so don't have to buy pressie at the time iyswim.

Got sent some stuff in post today from an MNer (on DD's thread) and it gives a LONG list of what DD CAN'T eat ie she CAN have chicken but not the skin and no bread

LaTurkey · 13/12/2008 19:48

urgh. I'm in the middle of a barney with DH. It started this morning. In fatc, we haven't spoken apart from necessary things since nine this morning.

I just got sick of it being him who calls the shots all the time. He is helpful around the house, but only what he feels like doing and when he feels like it.

If he does the washing up it is a special favour to me. I think he should just do the washing up because it needs done and that's that.

If he gets up early with the baby, that's a special favour. But why should it be always me whose working day starts at 5am?

I don't think juts because I don't work outside the house I should have to do every scrap. Indeed I don't do every scrap but I don't think it should be that any bit of housework done by DH is DH doing a bit of 'my' work. My work is the baby. If I wasn't doing it, we'd have to pay someone and we'd still have the housework to do.

Rant over.

LaTurkey · 13/12/2008 19:48

BTW he took these points as me saying I want to sleep more, I don't want to do so much housework which is NOT what I was saying at all.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 13/12/2008 20:52

Oh LaT tough one and a new road i am treading with dp.
I have always worked with ds and dd1 and now i am a sahm i am finding the adjustment hard!
I too feel taken for granted and we have had our fair share of arguments r/e sharing the housework!
Don't really have any advice but a sympathetic ear!
Looking after a crawling baby is a full time job and i think it's unreasonable to think that we can also do EVERY JOB in the house too!
I personally found work easier and have told dp that !

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 13/12/2008 22:08

LaT you are right. Period.Nothing worse than guys 'helping you out'. dh does not do much (although of course now gets nathan ready off to cm three times a week and picks him up twice a week too and has him till I get home. And it does mean he has almost automatically started to take more responsibility. But anyway, he will never suggest that he is doing me a favour.

Sooo tired. Nathan has chesty cough and especially after bf (which is good exercise breathing wise ) he sounds like an 80 year old smoker. seems a bit hesitant to cough so now giving simple linctus to sooth, seems to help. But he has been waking lots constantly wanting to bf, although at some point last night he even accepted water from a cup adn gulped it down. Must have been very thirsty . Last night he woke 10, 11.30, until 12.45, then 2.45, 4.45, then (thank God0 9am. Think he was cold at 4.45 as not very hungry, just snuggly, the wind was howling his side of the house. Good thing heating kicks in at 5am.

Dh was meant to preach at open air carol service with all churches together, but it got cancelled because of the rain.

Gotta go, having friends for lunch tomorrow and still lots to do. One is wheat and dairy free, one is dairy and soy free...gluten and dairy and soy free apple tart now baking. time to clear up and go to bed, night all

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 13/12/2008 22:12

MM hope tom goes well!
Am wondering if all dc's will be into ITNG or if something else will come along!

LaTurkey · 14/12/2008 19:13

Grr - just spent HOURS online choosing curtians. I finally settled on some from Homebase with a pole and a lightshade. I got to the checkout and suddenly they're sold out. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I can't find any others I like ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BeckyAu · 14/12/2008 20:04

Hi everyone I spent so much time on this thread a year ago, yet hardly any since but I very much hope you are all well and I hope it's ok that I drop back in even though I've been absent for so long? I was looking for some advice really... DD is now 10.5 months old and a happy little girl I'm delighted to say. However she is now not wanting her milk hardly at all. She's on formula but it's becoming a real struggle to get much down her. I do 3-4oz in her breakfast, then offer before her nap (perhaps 2-3 oz) and mid afternoon (currently nothing) then bedtime which has been around 4oz but the last couple of nights she wouldn't have any and gets really upset.

She has yogurt (muller little stars generally) most days as well as all meals cooked by me so she has some cheese every day and has just discovered Dairylea (DH's idea!) so she is having dairy produce but nowhere near the 15oz minimum I read she's supposed to have. What am I doing wrong? Should I be worried?
Thanks so much for any advice and I hope it's ok to ask xx

MrsMcClaus · 14/12/2008 21:32

Hey ladies hope you have all had a good weekend. Mine seems to have gone so fast and I?m not sure where had my folks over for dinner last night so I did spend most of the day cooking and cleaning I guess.

Xavier has his 1st birthday party tomorrow afternoon! His little friend Ella is 1! I can?t believe that all our babies are nearly one!

He learnt how to move his walker today ? no drawers are now safe!!

Lily ? well done on the sale of the jumperoo! I like the idea of being different rather than keeping up with the Joneses and the helium balloon is a great idea.

Hey Simpson the no milk thing must be a minefield

Lucky ? if it were me, I wouldn?t be buying any pressies for Babyclub maybe take some mince pies along or something? DS has shoo shoes, they are just soft but I think they are great. He hasn?t got them off yet.

LaT ? so far, I have only bought pressies for older siblings when a new baby arrives if I am close to the 1st child, like my nephew but I guess as time goes on, I will be closer to a lot more older kids! So excited tonight, one of my friends who I met when pg with DS is also pg again and only 6 weeks behind me! I can understand your beef with DH, similar issues here

Gingeme & Angechica ? sorry about the bad nights DS is often awake between 4.30 and 6 now and I don?t know what to do about it, it kills me!

Mad ? hope Nathan feels better soon

Hey Beckyau glad all is good with you. I can?t really suggest anything that you are not doing to get diary products into your DD I?m afraid, sounds like you are doing everything right to me sorry, no help at all!

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 14/12/2008 21:59

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 15/12/2008 09:34

well my dh is definitely in my good books

Nathan seems to have lost the art of sleeping and I am not coping with it very well. He was awake from 10pm (just when I finished doing chores and had five mins before bed grrrr) until 11.30, although he was very plaintive and seemed to have tummy ache. Just wanted to suck but did not help. I lost the plot dh took over, we gave some calpol and a bit more milk and that settled him eventually.

Brief feed at 2.30 ok

5.10 awake again, big feed, then refusing to go back to sleep. I got very upset (I have not had much sleep, I need to get up at 6.30. I need one more hour!)and dh again took over and settled Nathan which included cleaning a poo bottom. Of course dh and I both awake then, Nathan snoring his cotton socks off.
We have agreed to move the cot to the shed

On the other hand, they changed my rail time table so that I have to wait 25mins twice a day at friggin Nuneaton station. Reckoned it was about half an hour cycling from my home to Nuneaton in the first place, so that is what I did. Made me feel really good although the path along the canal was a bit spooky in the dark, will take the road next time

Very awake now

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 15/12/2008 09:41

MM so sorry Martha is exactly the same and it is really wearing thin now!
DP stomped off to work this morning it is making us very strained!
I am at a loss but like the moving the cot to the shed idea

Becky hi glad things ok with you. Sounds like she is getting all she needs r/e dairy i wouldn't worry to much they are only guidelines!
Do you offer milk in a cup rather than bottle ?

Lucky lol at keyboard guess she not ready for shoes then she obviously knows her own mind!!

MrsMc sounds like you need a rest after that weekend hope Xavier enjoys the party , i have done 3 with dc this weekend!

LaT GRR what a pain hope you find some. I got some nice ones from curtain poles direct and asda recently!

Am on a mad cleaning / ironing marathon today and then going to church tonight to watch ds carol concert!
Hoping to get some addys on my xmas cards too and get them in the post!!

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 15/12/2008 10:03

Hi all

Still feeling pretty ropey here Have splitting headache that I cannot shift which I think is down to sinuses.

Am cooking 12 chicken nuggets today for my contribution to Ds's Xmas party. He is very excitied as Santa is coming to the party!!

Have to brave it and tell his teacher that he won't be at school tomorrow because of DD's hospital appt. DD has her baby group Xmas do at 1pm am hoping to get there and will just take DS along to that too.

Becky - My DD doesn't eat any dairy products as she is intolerant (apart from her ff which we will get one from hosp tomorrow that doesn't have cows milk in) and have been told to give her other foods with calcium in ie: salmon, broccoli, spinach, baked beans etc.

Madmouse - How did your meal go?

JKS - Hope concert went well?

JustKeepSingingCarols · 15/12/2008 10:28

Hey all

Am at work so shouldn't really spend too long on here...

cot in shed sounds like a plan

we had the best night in ages last night, hooray!!
ds1 7-6.40
ds2 7-6.10
me & dh 10-1045 when i woke up coughing..?
then till 6.10
F A B

Weekend at in-laws went ok, though i spend most of my time wondering why on earth i agree to go. Not planning another trip down in a hurry.
In fact new plan is Dh takes the boys and i have a rest at home, hoorah!

Concert was fine too, just a thing we don in an old people's home every year, they seem to enjoy it and it finishes the term nicely for us too.

Tree is up
on a table in the corner between the sofas so H can't get to it, T only can if he climbs on the sofa so should be ok most of the time. no presents underneath though - too much temptation!
Got T to help us decorate it though and he loved it! was in charge of putting everything at his height - so most of it is there, oh well - not aiming for tasteful and elegant this year anyway

becky - hi
lucky - bad luck re keyboard - though could keep us on our toes guessing what you mean!
MM - having fun at work? the cycling sounds good for you - in a rather you than me way!

um, everyone else, hello and happy monday! sorry to miss you out, but really should get on with something....

(already had to nip out for smear test, yuk but done!)

LaTurkey · 15/12/2008 10:35

Sorry you're feeling bad Simpson

MM / Lily - sorry you had bad sleep. Sabela is currently waking at 4am ready for the day every day . DH and I have resolved to get up with her on alternate days.

Lucky - grr at coke on the computer. At least it's not a laptop because that completely rights them off.

Beckyau - I'm getting a bit more lax about milk these days. I'm mix feeding Sabela athe moment. If her weight is fine i wouldn't worry too much (prepares to get told off emoticon..)

MrsMc - How are the parents these days?

JKS - I'm very impressed you're keeping up your music through sleep deprivation.

DH settled argument ok. We're waking alternate mornings when our early bird starts cheeping. That makes it sound a lot more cute than it is. DH took my point but claimed that wsn't his attitude. I was a bit but he's such a good 'un I let him off. He does DO a lot of stuff it was just his attitude that got to me.

Well, it was my day on early shift today so am definitely spaced. AND I'm waiting in for an parcel that I have arranged to be delivered three times in the last 10 days now and still hasn't come. They swore it would be with me between 9 and 10 this morning - definitely a hmm with not festive hat. I wouldn't mind if they said they couldn't do it until next week, it's the constant 'oh yes of course' and then nothing happening thta makes me

Gingemejinglybells · 15/12/2008 10:36

Morning ladies.
Put our tree up yesterday. George kept ram raiding it with his walker eating the most glittery baubal on the tree he had lovely glittery lips though. He woke at 11.30 last night, though I think DH and I probably woke him [hblush] but he soon settled after about 4oz milk and slept till 8
I rememeber doing all that with Edward AFX. Frustrating isn't it?
Hi Becky. No you don't need to worry about milk intake if she is getting enough solid foods. Sounds like your doing well
MrsMcClaus I hope ds enjoys his first party. Keep us posted.
ds3 not at school today. Got him all ready, took him, school closed due to heating broke they better fix it by Thursday he has his Christmas party!
ds4 has his Christmas party at his playgroup tomm. Father Christmas is visiting. Should be interesting.
Well were off to Morrisons now.
Have a good day all xxxx

LaTurkey · 15/12/2008 10:51

Morning Gingeme!

Are all you lot on Facebook 'friends'? I sent a couple of invites and then thought I'd better ask./ I find Facebook a bit strange to use. Under 'you may know' bit I keep seeing people I half knopw, or used to know and it makes me feel a bit busy and overwhelmed.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 15/12/2008 11:06

Facebook is the devil

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 15/12/2008 11:08

LaT you found me on facebook and I said yes

JKS love the comment about cycling , I enjoy it really. Just very out of shape. Remember I still cycled 8 miles a day when 32 weeks pg.

Hi Becky

Simpson hope you have good appt at hospital.

Lily don't iron too hard

Better back to work. reviewing the work of a colleague who gets paid to do what exactly???

LaTurkey · 15/12/2008 11:18

Ooo MM - stay away from the canal! I think they're very unsafe places myself.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 15/12/2008 11:23

Well my free delivery of neocate has arrived and doesn't smell that bad...but I do have a heavy cold ATM.

Going to brave it and try DD with half her normal cow & gate and half neocste on next feed.

[fingers crossed emoticon]

Gingemejinglybells · 15/12/2008 16:02

LaT yes alot of us are on Facebook and I have added you to my friends list. I have met 4 old friends from where I used to work

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 15/12/2008 17:58

Am at my mums so keyboard behaving.

Right i'm gonna try to keep up but may suck at it!!!

MM - Did you say Nathan has CP? As my friend's 14 month old boy has just been diagnosed with it and I need to give her some help to cope with it and help her little boy best she can - Hope you dont think i'm being cheeky.

Those with poor sleepers I'm really sorry to hear it.

I've put my decs up now (except the tree cos we've no room at the mo) and it feels really xmassy. It's lovely. Wrapped a load of presents.

Haven't wrapped aaliyah's cos I think we should do that as a couple. Can I ask a question. I want to buy aaliyah 2 more presesnts a main one from us and a main one from santa but Geoff thinks she's got enough (5 small ones) he thinks we'll be spoilin her. Can you spoil her at this age?

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 15/12/2008 17:59

oh i'm on Facebook - I'm sure I'm on MM's list if you look at her friends. Aaliyah is on my profile pic.

LaTurkey · 15/12/2008 18:08

I don't think you can spoil her but she won't know what's going on!

I'm trying to be restrained and save the big pressies for other birthdays and Christmasses.

I did buy Sabela a little Welsh Dragon charm for a charm bracelet for her to have when she's older. The idea was to buy her a charm each year until she's 16 then buy the bracelet. I'm not so sure now I like charm bracelets. I might just put it on a chain when the time comes. What's everyone's opinions on charm bracelets then.
