AaliyahsFirstXmas · 12/12/2008 20:54

Aaliyah is asleep Am having a quick hour mumsnetting then i'm going to bed.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 12/12/2008 20:58

Lucky - Don't say that LOL, you will get sucked in to MN and still be here at midnight

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 12/12/2008 20:58

Nope!!! [firm message] I AM going to bed!!!!

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 12/12/2008 21:10

Lucky - hee hee....we shall see

Mrs Mcjnr - Got DD weighed today and she is now 18 lbs 1oz (or maybe 2ozs..I forget )

Think Lilyloo's idea of balloon is good

JKS - Where are you? Good luck with concert tomorrow night.

LaT - Think I will be buying ALL toys on e bay from now on!! Never heard of a sniper either...(for ebay purposes I mean )

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 12/12/2008 21:19

Simpson i know what you mean i got dd two vtech toys from woolies £8 each in sale!
Then walked down the road to charity shop and got her a caterpillar and ball both vtech for £3!
Seems such a waste paying full price. DD has had that jumperoo 4 mths! If i had paid £80+ i would be so mad!

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 12/12/2008 21:21

Ok ladies got a question for you all....

babyclub should I be buying presents for the babies/mums/anyone? Its just that there is about 10 babies there of various ages and I'm not sure if I should be buying anyone anything and if so, what the hell as I'm skint.

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 12/12/2008 21:22

Oh and Aaliyah update.

We walked (holding one hand) today from the car to my nans front door. About 5 metres!! She loved it!!

We went to brantano to buy her some shoes and none of them will fit her cos she points her toes so it means that she can't really walk around outside... I'm really sad as I want her to be able to do something like that.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 12/12/2008 21:23

I bought DD's learn and groove activity station for £50 brand new and don't reckon I would lose that much if I sold it on e bay.

However it is being a bit temperamental ATM so may take it back to argos and get something else totally different!!

Did you get any other bargains in woolies?

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 12/12/2008 21:44

Lucky i would prob get a card and maybe a small choccie for the mums if they did, but otherwise no!
Wouldn't push for the walking/shoes then you really don't have a minute or any money!

Simpson no i dren't walk back in that place again!

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 12/12/2008 21:46

LMAO - Yeh I understand that but I dont want to hold her back.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 12/12/2008 21:49

What about the soft shoes ?? (pre walkers)
Actually both my dc were walking before forst birthday so maybe A will be our first walker!

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 12/12/2008 21:55

Lucky - I wouldn't buy pressies TBH. We have the Xmas party at our baby group next Fri. HV is providing soft drinks/mince pies/sausage rolls etc and I am just going to take Xmas cards for the people I know will be there (have arranged to meet some mums) and HV.

Lilyloo - LOL. Was it that bad then?

Can I just say DD had her first biscuit today!! Cannot believe how hard it is to find a biscuit without milk in but good old tescos super value rich teas!! But "real rich teas do have milk in

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 12/12/2008 21:59

Thats what we were looking at in brantano Lily - the prewalkers and she wont put her heel down so we can't get any yet. Just sad that she can't have a wander around outside cos of it.

Am going to do xmas cards but just worried that I'd be the only one not giving out presents.

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 12/12/2008 22:00

It's blowing a gale here tonight which usuallyu means early morning checking to see if any tiles blown off roof! And sold rabbit hutch for collection tom just rung to pick up at 7.15 it's my only lie in!!!
DP managed to get them to agree to 8!

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 12/12/2008 22:04

I never gave out presents for Ds's baby group
TBH although I guess it depends on how well you know them.

They only friends Dcs I buy Xmas pressies for I have known 10yrs. Otherwise it would cost me a small fortune

Poor A not being able to walk outside Did she love it? Will ask what neighbours did next door as their DD was walking at 9mths and I know they couldn't find shoes to fit her!!

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 12/12/2008 22:05

Lily - booties are like socks, she pulls them off we have to put tights on her!! lmao

Simps - she loves it giggling her head off the whole time... thats whats so sad.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 12/12/2008 22:07

Lilyloo - am at 7/8am pick up on a SATURDAY!!

Madmouse - hope you are ok?

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 12/12/2008 22:08

SORRY - MM HELLO!!!!

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 12/12/2008 22:23

Am seeing if anyone has any ideas on the walking thing

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 12/12/2008 22:33

Lucky - X posted - just posted on it!!

LaTurkey · 13/12/2008 07:21

Lucky - no idea about the shoes but you must feel very proud of her walking!

MM - hope you had a good night's sleep.

Lily - do ebay allow that? It seems really off to me.

MrsMc - I was desperate to get back when I went out for dinner too!

Both MrsMc and Lucky have asked about this present thing and I'm getting concerned too.

I don't like to go to a party empty-handed but usually take something like a flapjack. Does this seem ok? I haven't been to any birthday parties yet but did take ballons to a going away party. I also have three friends with oder children expecting babies over Christmas. I was happy to buy a present for the new baby but then thought the elder would get jealous... so thought I would take soup or some such...

But all this is really going to add up over the years, isn't it? What are your policies on presents?

Gingemejinglybells · 13/12/2008 08:41

Have posted on your shoe thread lucky.
Morning all. Had busy night with one thing and another. All settled nicely as usual for 7.30. 9.30 DH comes in from work to go straight out to the pub. I go to bed at 11 for George to wake at 11.40 for a bottle which is very unusual for him. Settle back down for DH to come in at 12.15 from the pub being noisy. He came to bed only to toss and turn for about an hour then decide to sleep in the front room. Edward then wakes crying about 3am. I settle him a couple of times then DH decides hes going to sleep with him for a while. I settle back to sleep to be woken at 4 by DH coming back to bed. Then at 6.50 regular as clockwork George wakes up. Gave him a drink and some extra toys in his cot but he decides its time to get up and keeps moaning till Mummy gets him up
Pouring with rain here today so don't know what we'll be doing. Maybe I should go back to bed when DH gets up
Well have a god day whatever your doing . xx

HarkTheHeraldAngeChica · 13/12/2008 11:21

LaT I always give books for birthdays, according to age. But I have been appalled recently at parties for friends older kids where they spend a lot of money on hiring halls and getting magicians and the like, also I feel like a cheapskate as all the other parents seem to give bigger presents than me. We're not doing christmas presents among friends though. Too many birthdays around now!

I got DS feet measured yesterday (4G/H) as I was given some shoes but I only put them on him when he is out in the pram to help keep his feet warm. Luckily they are the right fit. I'm not buying any til he can walk, I had a couple of pairs of soft shoes from Next that were only £6 but they got grubby really quickly. They've got loads more designs for girls in there though.

Typical night last night. This is what has happened past couple of weeks. DS wakes about 11.30-midnight - i give him some extra milk and change him. He takes ages to settle and may have to sleep on mattress by his cot. Whether you do or not he wakes at 4.30 will not settle unless taken in to bed with us. Last night I plonked him in with DH and went back to the mattress till 7.30 though so I could get a bit of unbroken sleep though.
