Lucky I want Dominique. But not until after Christmas.

Animals are not Christmas presents...

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 07/12/2008 15:37

Oh he's gorgeous MM. Can totally see why you fell in love with him.
If dogs trust wont let you rehome him cos of Nathan. Let me know and I can put a "home offered" up on RHU for you if you like?
In fact could do that anyway if you likes?

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 07/12/2008 17:29

Thanks lucky, but I trust the Dog's Trust's judgement on which dog is safe with a baby, so it is just a matter of waiting for the right dog. It is well and good to find a charity who rehomes with a baby, but what if Nathan grabs an ear and gets bitten.

Dominic seems suitable for a family. Maybe he will still be there after Christmas after all people seem to be handing in dogs not rehoming them at the moment

We have actually emailed the dog's trust to ask if they can contact us when they have a suitable dog, as we are worried that if we go down to a centre we will fall in love with something unsuitable.

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 07/12/2008 17:31

Yeh thats a good idea - The rescues online will find you a suitable dog as well though as its their responsibility to look after dog (and dog would have to be destroyed if it bit someone) so they are VERY strict!

I do hope Dominic turns out to be ok for you though - he's dashing!!

I agree everyone is busy handing in last years xmas presents to get a new one.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 07/12/2008 19:44

MM he is lovely dd has just started taking an interest in our dog Kim they were even playing ball today and sharing sucking it

Tree up and dd hasn't really bothered other than pulling an odd bauble off up to now!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 07/12/2008 21:11

Simpson check your old thread some good advice on there from paed dietician!!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 07/12/2008 21:12

'old' am tired! 'other' thread re dd!

HarkTheHeraldAngeChica · 07/12/2008 21:14

Our dog is just great with DS but we are lucky I know. He was found as a stray and has a terrible habit of scavenging but is very chilled out otherwise. DH wants another but I've vetoed it unless we move.

Well feeling my age as I just turned 36 yesterday. We went out to the local curry house and had a 10 course banquet .

work tomorrow .

JustKeepSingingCarols · 07/12/2008 21:15

Quick hello and goodnight from me.
Off to bed, had a busy day going to a party in Surrey.
Back tomorrow...

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 07/12/2008 21:39

Angechica - Happy belated birthday!! Pity we couldn't beat the canaries My dad went to the match he was gutted...

Lilyloo - Cheers for pointing me to DD's thread!! have replied on it. Having opposite problem now as poo very runny and bum red/sore

Waves to JKS

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 07/12/2008 21:42

madmouse mutters 'extensively hydrolised formula', just what I said in the beginning, stupid gp

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 07/12/2008 21:43

sorry that refers to simpsons thread and something I said on here before...

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 07/12/2008 21:59

Madmouse - It was the pead and he was f**king useless. I had to beg him to test DD for intolerance, he thought there was nothing wrong with her.

GP gave me prescription (on pead's instruction) but looked about it and said to come back if its not right. Well guess what.... it ain't fecking right!!

Sorry am just so about it that DD has had to be in pain and I have had a week from HELL.

JustKeepSingingCarols · 08/12/2008 09:05

simpson - grrrrrrr re paed.! when are you able to get things moving re appts? if you rang every day maybe the secretary would get peed off enough to 'find' an appt somewhere!!

just remembered a q from ages ago re cosmetics:
i don't wear makeup so don't spend any money on that
but do use Clinique moisturiser - reacted badly to lots of cheaper ones. but my brother who lives in bermuda flies through the States lots and gets it cheap there. plus last Christmas i asked for it as a present and i think he felt it was a bit measly so bought 3 large bottles! so have lots to last me a while.
no other expensive cosmetics/shampoos/etc though, just pantene off the shelf!

off to work in a bit, have to take boys to nursery today as dh heard the main roads to london are 'car parks' today, so he's getting the train instead of driving. little annoyed as i wanted to leave early and get lots done and it reminds me that my one day a week is not important and his job takes priority.
which is but true. i even apologised for being unreasonable for snapping about it.

right have to get ds2 up from nap, dressed and all of us out of the house in 10mins, best go!

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 08/12/2008 11:40

JKS - Enjoy work!!

The secretary said they would write to me so will see what happens...She was very nice but said there were literally NO appts

Having a bit of a stress about DH's work ATM. He got home at 11pm last night and said he had been called into a meeting by his mgr and told he was under performing and was on trial to improve things for 6wks then he would get a verbal warning.

I am soooo as DH went to his mgr 2 wks ago and said he felt he was struggling and could the mgr find out about salaries etc if he stepped down a level. Mgr said he thought that was a good idea.

Then didn't bother coming back to him just bollocked him, now he is really stressed

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 08/12/2008 12:42

oh no

that is the very most wrong thing to happen right now

I asked this before but is there an HR department?

If it is any reassurance manager is heading for contructive dismissal and dh will have a good case for tribunal

also, manager should not announce underperformance, but sit down and address together with dh how problems can be overcome.

Believe me, I am a manager and I have dealt with these things more than I like

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 08/12/2008 14:33

Madmouse - Dh has had several sessions with someone at HR (in totally different site) about how he is etc.

Not sure if Mgr wants to dismiss him totally but just get him off his dept iyswim.

DH got a letter all typed out with examples of when he had not met the standards set by his company. TBH DH is being honest about it and saying that he doesn't feel he is up to job ATM and is happy to take a less stressful role but they should have come back to him weeks ago about this.

Dh on 6wk trial to see if things improve and I told Dh to tell them to stick the trial (obviously not in those words!!) as if he is not coping now 6wks is not going to make a lot of difference and will stress him more iyswim.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 08/12/2008 17:05

Simpson what a week your having.

Ange happy birthday

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 08/12/2008 19:26

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 08/12/2008 19:40

lilyloo - I saw that earlier but couldn't get my lap top to read link

Is a fab idea though

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 08/12/2008 20:06

Is this working ???

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 08/12/2008 20:13

just keeps timing out

JustKeepSingingCarols · 08/12/2008 20:46

simpson - that seems v unreasonable of dh's work

been busy at work, and watching the end of a silly film now - missed the beginning so even more stupid to watch!
off to bed soon.

sorry i keep missing personals, feel like i have too much on at the mo and brain is bursting!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 08/12/2008 20:56

Simpson think it may not be just you others having probs

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 08/12/2008 21:04

JKS - have calmed down about it now. It might turn out to be a blessing as all DH wants to do is step down a role anyway. This might mean it happens quicker. We do have it in writing that he will have a job if he steps down....or words to that effect.

I have made him email his boss asking for a meeting on Fri (next time boss & DH in together)as DH has been asking his boss about new job details and he keeps saying he is busy etc. Not so hard to ignore written request. Then if nothing happens on Fri he will go to his contact at HR.

Someone on mental health support thread was telling me about disabilty discrimination act which is saving her DH's job ATM.

Lilyloo - Will try it tomorrow. Might just be busy.

Have either of you got the film Polar Express? Do you think my Ds will be able to follow it or is 3yrs old to young? Otherwise I will get The Snowman instead.
