We have both and dd prefers polar express as it has words watched it last year so would hve been similair age to ds !

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 08/12/2008 21:11

Dh's best friend from Ireland rang tonight to see how he is but Dh is at work so we had a good old chat and he said there are wolves in it briefly which DS might love

But Ds is a bit of a wuss and finds lots of things scary. Do you think bits might frighten a child who is timid?

LaTurkey · 09/12/2008 08:50

Simpson - really sorry about DH. I think management is a really tricky job and very few are actually good at it (MM I'm sure that's you!). Sounds like DHs is pretty poor. Really the last thing any of you need.

Oh! and I'm fine. Thanks for posting on my present thread. DD was a real grouch yesterday and we'd been up since 4am so I just decided to put her in the buggy and go out for the day. It worked well. We went to see a friend etc and it was good. She was awake at 2am today though . Maybe she was just not tired because she spent most of yesterday in the pram! I think it might be teeth but htere is also a stale milk smell in her mouth. Do you think we should not go swimming today in case she is ill?

Anyone with ace, foldable present ideas please post here!

LaTurkey · 09/12/2008 08:55

Does anyone know what this acutally IS? DOes it go on a computer or what?

They're selling them cheap in Woolworths!

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 09/12/2008 09:48

LaT am about to go to ToysRUs will have a look for you

LaTurkey · 09/12/2008 10:17

Oooo MM - if you haven't already left - could you pick up one of those toddler laptop things and see how heavy it is please? Thankyou!!!!!!

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 09/12/2008 12:18

Madmouse - Happy shopping!!

Feeling pretty ill this morning horrid chesty cough, thank God I have a doc's appt tomorrow anyway. Not really up for doing much today.

Fed DD at 6am and she went back down till 7 then DH got up at 8am with DS and sent me back to bed for a couple of hours which was nice

LaT - I am going to be passing the entertainer tomorrow so if you want me to check anything out let me know.

JustKeepSingingCarols · 09/12/2008 13:06

Remind me NOT to start threads on here unless they are purely practical/yes or no questions/or similar!
see here

gingeme - you ok?

hi everyone, have loads to do and ds2 napping, ds1 at nursery (only a few more of these extra/give mum a rest days left before he changes to just a pre-school morning after Christmas so should make the most of it!).
presents to wrap, things to organise for orchestra social evening tonight, Christmas cards to finish, and so on.
so best get off here and get moving!

Gingemejinglybells · 09/12/2008 13:45

Hi ladies. Sorry yes I'm ok.
Just been busy playing nurse to my poorly lot. Took ds4 to the docs yesterday. Bit worried about his sore throat as ds3 started getting tonsilitis about this age. Turns out he does have a throat infection but his tonsils re ok. He has got anti biotics though so should be on the mend soon. She also had a look at ds5 and said to carry on with Calpol and plenty of drinks. She gave me some more and Junior Nurofen too.
Went to Ikea today to get some bits and pieces. Got a ginger bread house that you build and decorate yourself for my friend who has 2 little girls that will love helping make it. Got some cool tree decorations too. Have ordered a wardrobe and chest of drawers for the boys room too. There dawers are falling apart now. Will put them on freecycle.
I'm goign to finnish my Christmas shoping tommorrow. Just need to get vouchers for my nephews and niece and something for the old man
Sorry for no catch ups. Got a snotty grizzly baby at my feet currently wiping snot up my jeans
Take care all xx

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 09/12/2008 14:14

sorry LaT too late...

That baby einstein thing: you need a v smile terminal which is in Trus for £40 which then connects to the tv. so may not be much use.

went to see the baby that was born unexpectedly last week. cuuuuuuute , young mum and dad doing great. mum still breastfeeding good on her.

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 09/12/2008 14:38

jks just saw that thread. you should have vented here, it is not safe out there for things like that.

JustKeepSingingCarols · 09/12/2008 14:47

i know i know - just didn't want to overload this thread with my venting!
never again

i mean really....

anywayyyy...

gingeme - sorry to hear you have a sick house.
hope they all get better soon and that's your winter illnesses sorted! did you take them all to ikea with you???

MM - there's a young baby just joined our bf group, sooo cute
the poor mum has thrush we think so have sent her to docs for an emergency appt. hope she gets sorted out soon.
the group only runs for under 1's so haven't got many more 'visits' left went for ds1 for a year, now ds2, well will hopefully be back

sat down with all the presents left to wrap - and run out of paper, argh!!
have booked chimney sweep for next week so we can have fires over Christmas, lovely. (even if there's a heatwave we'll be having a fire, lol!)

wonder how long ds2 will nap for now....have jobs would like to do minus ds1....

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 09/12/2008 16:46

JKS - That is what we are here for...to be ranted at God knows I've done it enough.

Read your other thread and we do the same thing before 7am. DD wanted a feed at 6am this morning and she went back in cot till 7.

Was very wary about starting thread on DD TBH in case I got people saying I have let her suffer etc and should have taken her to doc's earlier etc.

Some people can be so judgy/take things literally (not on this thread of course!!) We are all lovely

Gingeme - Sorry to here you lot are not well either. Feel pants myself and wondering if I can convince DS that 6pm is really 7pm....

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 09/12/2008 17:20

JKS - Have answered your thread sorry for ranting!! next time come winge at us!! god knows I do it enough

Update from aaliyah !!!

She is now walking holding onto one hand!! (you know instead of leaning over her to hold both her hands and giving myself a bad back) so I am thinking of going to clarks and spending a stupid amount of money (cos I can't find any that fit her anywhere else) on shoes so I can take her out for a walk while we're out and about cos she LOVES it... I'm so proud of her.

JustKeepSingingCarols · 09/12/2008 17:53

Thanks you 2! I will remind myself of that thread next time i think of venting/ranting again!!

I guess people don't have the background whereas i've bored you all senseless told you all about bits before!

woohoo Ali!! [frgin] (can i spell her name like that? correct me please if not!)

def get her some decent shoes, they don't have to be Clarks but should be somewhere that measures properly.
and sit down before they tell you the price!!
and def before they tell you roughly how long they will last her....

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 09/12/2008 17:55

LMAO - Thats why i'm preparing myself before I leave the house and not planning on telling DP how much it will/has costs. hahaha.
I'm glad we've managed to cheer you back up and am sooo of your breakfast in bed.

Oh and yes we call her Ali all the time... normally alibum!! hahaha

MrsMcClaus · 09/12/2008 18:20

Here to catch up

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 09/12/2008 18:23

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 09/12/2008 19:57

JKS it's not safe out there! (added my twopenneth)

Simpson polar express not scary irc!

Gingeme sorry to hear about the lurgy going round again hope you get rid of it all for xmas!

LaT posted an idea will have a think!

MrsMc like the name

MrsM did you get anything from toysrus ? Did new baby make you feel broody. I am going to see neighbours little boy this week will be first tiny baby i have seen since dd so not sure how i will feel!

Lucky the clarks shoes are a fortune! Worth going to the outlet stores though or lot's for sale usually on here. As they are pre walkers usually in great nick too.

Well can i just share my very proud mummy emotion
went to see ds in nativity play and had no idea he had the main part. Since when has the innkeeper beenthe main part ?
Anyway he was fab and sung his solo great. No nerves remembered all his lines and i had to wipe a little tear! Even dd1 said he was 'fablious'

LaTurkey · 09/12/2008 20:03

Just popping in on the trot

Simpson - could you hve a quick look at those laptop thingies and tell me what you think - and how heavy they are. I don't mean exactly but whether they would make a big difference ot a suitcase or not.

JKS - sorry about the thred. I am loathe now to start anything except on this thread. I feel really lucky that we have such level-headed ladies on here.

And BTW YANBU!!!!!!!

Lukcy and simpson - glaw away at you remarkable little ones!

Gingemejinglybells · 09/12/2008 20:09

Yay Alibum you go girl xx
Thanks jks. Only took two to Ikea. ds3 is back at school now. ds3 was a bit moany as we walked round till we went and had an Ikea breakfast and he was very happy then. Ds5 loves scrambled egg and baked beans . Luckily we had some idea of we wanted to get so we didn't have to traipse around too much. ds3 decided he was afraid of the dark a few weeks ago so I bought one of those plug in night lights for his room but todau I bought a SPOKA from Ikea. Its a night light and looks like a little ghost. About as big as a tennis ball and ist soft! The best thing is you charge it up so you don't have to plug it in so you can put it anywhere in the room and it lasts for about 4 hours. Only £7. We got a blue one but they do a red and a green one to.
George has got a mega sore bum at the minute. Guess its all to do with his cold. Left him bumless for a little while before his shower and he found his willy . Oh he was killing himself laughing at it so funny.
Has anyones dc missing out their breakfast? George has gone back to new born mode and is waking for a bottle at midnightish and 4am and not wanting his breakfast. I think or should I say hope its because he's dry at night where he's breathing through his mouth so wants a drink and because hes having the extra bottle not wanting his breakfast.
Anyway off or a shower now theyre all in bed.
Night night xx

Gingemejinglybells · 09/12/2008 20:12

Xpost lillyloo well done to your little fella. I'm looking forward to doing all that again with my little lot

Gingemejinglybells · 09/12/2008 20:13

jks ds3 back at school ds4 was moany. How many have I got again? Doh..............

Gingemejinglybells · 09/12/2008 20:13

Ok I'll shut up now

LaTurkey · 09/12/2008 20:32

Lily - so glad the singing went well in the end. You must be one proud mummy.

Ok. This is the thing that I'm deliberately NOT starting a thread on elsewhere, but I wonder what you ladies think...

AIBU to feel slightly queasy that the life of a child may be dependent on my choice of nappy? I mean, I'm sure it's a good thing that Pampers are making donations for each pack of nappies sold I just find it heartbreaking that a child's health somewhere else depends on my supermarket shopping and a bit sick towards Pampers. What do you all think?

LOL at George finding his willy . Sabela currently keeps trying to feel her bottom when I change her. Her arms aren't quite long enough, so curiosity is not yet satisfied!
