MrsMcJnr · 05/12/2008 21:58

Maybe they'd consider letting you work reduced/different hours?

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 05/12/2008 21:59

hehe dont worry MM we know that!! She's been showing up how much things can change in the last few weeks!! hehehe.

How wierd not knowing your preg, there seems to be more and more of that you know. Glad all are ok and she's managed to BF after such a shock.

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 05/12/2008 22:00

MrsM - I dont know whether (if I get to that stage) I should say that at the interview as its not mentioned anywhere what hours I would be doing so technically I wouldn't know and could say "oh 1pm is a little late, can I work 8 - 12" but would that put me out of the race as I expect there are a few people who would do 9-1.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 05/12/2008 22:03

Lucky - Job sounds FAB!!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 05/12/2008 22:13

MM i can't imagine how that must feel!

Lucky if you were back for 1.30 he could go to sleep then. Maybe get in bed with A at 1 and wind down for 30 min before you get back I wouldn't say anything r/e hours until you have the job maybe do it for a couple of months and then hope for scope to change.
I think dp lucky to still get 7 hours from 1.30 and am sure the extra money would help!

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 05/12/2008 22:25

EXACTLY Lily - The annoying thing is (sorry but I have to rant at this as he's annoyed me over the past few days) he's normally up till that time anyway but he says its different because at that time normally he would be going to bed not calming down ready for bed.

Here's why he's annoyed me. On Wednesday I took my mum to the hospital for her to have (where they stick needles in, chinese therapy) and said I'll be back around 2 so can he sleep in the morning and we'll do soemthing in the afternoon. It was his first night off so had been working tues night but doesn't weds night. I come back and he's sitting in bed reading a book. DD had fallen asleep in the car so I thought I'd see if we could all have another hour but she woke up. He got moody as he was sooo tired (probably on the comp all morning instead of sleeping) and wanted to go out so that she would STOP SCREAMING - she wasn't screaming (to my standards) so I got up, got DD changed and headed downstairs to where he is sitting in front of the TV half asleep. So as I didn't want her to be moody for bed later I went and got pram and her ready to go out. He then asks where I'm going so I said for a walk so she'll have a quick hour sleep. Oh ill come with you. So we have to wait for him to get ready, Dd in her pushchair getting annoyed. Finally he's ready so we leave, he wants to know where we going so I say to the shop (not the closest one but its about 45 mins round trip) as we start going he's wingeing about it being too far so I said fine, go home.. bye. I'm taking her for a long walk to get her to go to sleep. Whole way there he's winging about being tired (i'm tired too, only slept about 5 hours that night cos of DD's sore bum but DD comes first) whole way back still wingeing. DD falls asleep just as we get back so I leave her in her pram in the front room and sit to watch some TV but he wants to watch a film that he fell asleep in front of last week and I dont - I carried on watching it so I leave it where it was up to and wait for him to decide what he's doing. He falls asleep so I thought sod it and went upstairs to read a mag. About 30 mins later DD woke up wingey and yelly. I can't decide now whether he honestly didn't hear her or if he ignored her but he didn't go to her so I came back downstairs to deal with her. Took her upstairs to change her bum and she started SCREAMING (same as day before with sore bum) so I stripped her and took her into our room...still SCREAMING. DP not hearing her. SO I shouted for him to come upstairs and help me (funny he heard that) he came up looked at DD who was still SCREAMING and said "what does that acheieve Aaliyah" I couldn't believe what he'd said at all as it sounded like his daughter was in real pain.
I as expected got moody and told him I couldn't believe he'd just said that. Got DD dressed and went downstairs where she was suddenly fine lol. Then we decided on takeout for dinner. I got no input from him and was expected to order it, drive there, get back sort plates and DD out while he played on the computer.
I then had to sort her for bed cos he fell asleep on the sofa AGAIN.

I'm just fed up of not having time off from her - I love her to pieces but it takes 2 to make a baby!!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 05/12/2008 22:32

Lucky i think this job sounds just what you need. If he is happy to stay up until then anyway tough if he likes to have the choice of going to bed and not winding down at 1!
You can then have me time in the am (earning money too) and then you take over so he can have sleep in the afternoon.
He seems to be able to cope when he chooses on less sleep. Sadly having a baby the amount of sleep you have isn't a choice but dictated by them.
I think he should think about how you feel in this decision too and how you want some time out going to work (not shopping, having your nails done etc)

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 05/12/2008 22:53

Thanks Lily I know it is I just worry about things is all.

Anyways.... thanks for this.

I'm looking for xmas presents online now so I can reserve and collect etc. Can't think what to get aaliyah for her "santa" present or her main present from us...... This is hard work this xmas malarky! lol

Gnite all.

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 06/12/2008 11:06

Lucky please promise you will go for the job.

You need it and you have to get tough with dp. You may have spoilt him a bit

My dh was like 'He what? Tell him it is not all about him'

Great night here: 8.30-12-4-5(little mistake)-8-in the big bed-snooze-9.45

JustKeepSingingCarols · 06/12/2008 11:41

Lucky - i'm firmly with Madmouse & her (very sensible) Dh on this - go for it!!

Good night here, well for me!
ds1 7-6
ds2 was up for about an hour crying with dh settling him.
eventually i asked if he'd given him any calpol...'just about to'
he'll learn...

have been talking about when i'll stop feeding too, was aiming for 1 as i did with ds1 but thinking i may bring it forward to 11/11.5months (no flaming required!) as dh will be around more until the 12th jan, then working away lots again.
atm we are:
morning about 6/7am
lunchtime 12-ish
mid-afternoon 3/4ish
evening/bedtime both sides (others are just one side)
=5 in total.

Want to replace the mid-afternoon feed with snack & juice/cow's milk next.
then try to drop the lunch one
then the bedtime one about late december - swap for cow's milk
then the morning one for cow's milk early jan.

So by his birthday he will have stopped and i will be free [hgrin]

then we are talking about booking in PIL for a weekend here or there for couple-time to keep us sane....

JustKeepSingingCarols · 06/12/2008 11:41

doh!

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 06/12/2008 11:56

JKS - I put Ds on cows milk when he was 11mths, never did him any harm LOL at you will be free

Lucky - DEFINATELY go for the job. Wait and see if you get it then sort out A & Dp. Think Madmouse's advice is spot on.

Madmouse - Glad you got a lie in Can't believe your friend's daughter not knowing she was pg. She must have been terrified poor thing when she went into labour, not knowing what was happening.

DD now seems to want only 3 bottles a day now. One when she wakes up (anytime from 6am onwards), one about 1ish and another just before bed.

Have had screaming and straining already today But went out and bought her old FF Cow & gate and on her next bottle she is going back on that.

Have to go and tidy house and my mum and Grandma are coming round and my Grandmother ALWAYS comments/criticises how many toys Dcs have etc (not as many as some!!) So I hide them in our bedroom

LaT - Hope you are ok?

LaTurkey · 06/12/2008 12:39

I am FINE - thanks for asking - I just haven't found time for a proper catch-up - which I will do if I can but DH is prowling wanting to do the accounts on the computer. [hgrin]

Just wanted to say MM - this happened to a firend of mine's elder sister - She was a teenager at the time. Lucy - my friend - was upstairs and could hear her sister groaning but the sister just said she had a tummy ache so Lucy continued watching the television. The mum came home, went upstairs then came downstairs and said, 'your sister's had a baby. We're just going to hospital' !!!!!! All was fine in the end... The baby is now a teenager!

LaTurkey · 06/12/2008 16:07

HI all - managed to catch up.

Simpson - poor DD and you. HAs the thread come up with any good ideas yet?

JKS - glad DH results good. Good plan on weaning.

Ginge - she sounds very defensive to me too. It's very uncomfortable to have tetchy neighbours.

MM - LOL at JCB. SOunds like the work / baby balance is going well. How do you feel?

Lucky - go for the job! Go for the job! DH sounds like he's being a dolt.

MrsMc - here's hoping 16 weeks puts an end to nausea.

Dh last night said he doesn't want me to stop bf. He thinks ot would be more practical but emotionally he doesn't want to stop. I'VE decided to cut out day feeds so we just have morning, first nap and bedtime. She's taking about 9oz from bottles. Does this plus three feeds sound about right?

She's taking it pretty well. She was cried a little but is distractable. When I give her abottle she usually nuzzles my chest, but she seems to enjoy getting the 'easy' milk also.

Am VERY excited about starting to TTC next LO. We're not going mad, but we know it's a possibility now and we're both hoping it's around January/ February that I get pg.

Gorgeous day here. People are even surfing! Not very festive!

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 06/12/2008 17:53

LaT - glad you are ok How exciting about TTC no. 2!!!

Threads on DD gave me some useful advice one of which is to give her gripe water as it contains lactase (different from lactose apparently and helps them poo).

Also got the names of some formula I can get off GP [hopeful emoticon] and some gel to put on her bum to numb it when she needs to poo.

DD been marginally better today. I put her back on cow & gate and we have not had any straining but the foul smelly poo is still there (sorry TMI) but it probably takes a while to get out of the body iyswim.

Resorted to buying a dummy today and don't want to start using one at 10mths but will try anything!!

Also did EVERYTHING to get a 2nd nap in to her and that did help but only because she was upstairs sleeping not down here whinging. Don't think she was whinging from tiredness before iyswim.

DS very happy as the delivery from HMV arrived today with Peppa Pig Xmas DVD

My Grandmother came over today and only managed to mention about 10 times how many toys DS has. Grrr...Drives me up the wall!!

Gingeme - Am totally at your neighbour!!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 06/12/2008 20:26

Simpson glad you got some advice hope it helps dd!

We3 got our xmas decs from garden centre today , ds chose a gold star , dd1 a white xmas tree and Martha got a pink and blue soft santa

Might even get tree tom as got a stand so it can be in water.

LaT when we speak to sil in Aus it doesn't seem festive there either they having barbe at beach for xmas dinner!

Lucky hope you found a pressie!

JKS , MM at the good night lie in!
I ended up going to bed last night even though dp bought formula. Didn't want to sleep downstairs.
Anyhow Martha wakes as per but won't take bottle. I awake anyway and end up feeding her but we know now it's not milk she wants as after a little comfort suck she goes back to sleep

DP off on his works xmas do tonight so i on my own spending money on ebay

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 06/12/2008 20:41

Ok so i've filled in the form and am gonna send it first class tomorrow (get there tues) and see what happens. If I get the job we'll have to think about how to do it and if not then the worry was for nothing.

Nope couldn't think of things for her stocking or main pressies from us and santa.

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 06/12/2008 20:43

Ginge saw you posted on facebook that you are sick of snot, me too!

It is even in his nappy! Well slightly slimey poo anyway and I guess that's what it is. And during dinner he keeps on coughing bits of food with more slime back up. Sorry if too graphic. Otherwise happy as larry though

While moaning anyway, my house is a tip and i am tired. Need to go and clean. Like, right now...

Sorry

It is my period too

Hi all

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 06/12/2008 20:46

Lucky - Good for you Hope you get job [hopeful emoticon]

I have only doen a stocking for DD as I told DS all good girls and boys get one from Santa so if she didn't get one think he might be a bit

I have put a plastic bath book (was DS's), a set of maracas (which she LOVES playing with at baby group), wrist bells and will put a satsuma in too.

She hasn't really got a main pressie TBH but will give her DS's old ride on walker thingie, she has a v tech toy, balloons & a rag doll.

My brother has got her a teddy you put in the microwave to warm up cot.

Lilyloo - Hope you are not spending too much

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 06/12/2008 20:51

I have got dd this for xmas

and this for her birthday

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 06/12/2008 20:51

I was only going to do a small one and so far all I could think of was an orange (cos that's a MUST) lol. That's it.....
I'm going to woolies tomorrow (cos its closing down) SALE so will see what I can find for her there!! I was thinking of getting her a cup that you paint yourself as lets face it that's the only way she's going to get a cup with her name on it. lol

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 06/12/2008 20:52

Sinmpson you know me spent £14 the other night on a potato peelr and some cookie cutters!
The warm bears are lovely ds and dd1 has one and have got one for my niece this xmas!

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 06/12/2008 20:53

Oh lily that rocker looks gorgeous will speak to DP. Already got the table it was one of DP's presents he bought before baby!! lol Its absolutely brilliant and I fully believe its played a huge role in her being so steady on her feet.

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 06/12/2008 20:53

Lucky we do not normally do presents but Nathan is getting a trampoline (baby size) from ELC because he loves bouncing. something for Aaliyah? Burns off some energy?

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 06/12/2008 20:54

We thought about a trampoline but are worried she'll hurt herself (PFB remember )
