Put some snowy pics on my profile

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 04/12/2008 10:17

Hi all

Have snotty coughy baby ... again

Know what you feel Lily

up every 45mins in the evening, then 11.30 feed, 1am quick settle, 2.30 feed, 4am quick settle, 6.30 quick drink, poo and awake!, well took him into our bed and we snoozed till 8.

He seems fine in himself so decided to take him swimming anyhow.

see y'all later

LaTurkey · 04/12/2008 10:25

Hi Lily - did like the name BTW Sweet Picture And WOW the snow! Do you like? I hate it. None here so far.

Simpson - what about SimpsonsChristmasSpecial?

Sorry for all thre crap nights.

Hope Nathan enjoys his swim.

Sabela going for her third marathon morning nap. ATM she wakes at 5, comes in for a scooch and feed until 6, up, breakfast, play and then mammmoth nap (2.5 hours)around 9/10. Any ideas about how to tack this obvioulsy needed sleep onto the night's sleep?

LaTurkey ducks a sleep-deprived Lily, JKS and MM out with their shotguns. Squawk!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 04/12/2008 10:35

I don't mind it if i don't have to go out. However i have left my car on the main road at the botom of the big hill on pic so walking that 3 times for school/preschool/school run wasn't very nice with Martha in my arms!
And i hate driving in it!
Kids bored of it now so will be glad when it's melted and we can get back out again.

simpson · 04/12/2008 10:46

Hi all

Not had a great night here either

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 04/12/2008 11:06

Gingemejinglybells · 04/12/2008 11:28

Morning ladies. Total snot fest here. Calpol and simple linctus all round Not too bad a night though well ecxept for my nose doing its runing tap impression.
George didn't eat his breakfast this morning but has had 2 cups of juice
ds3 and 4's toys came today off Ebay. Can't have a peep yet as ds3 is awake. The other two are napping.
Currently watching Toy Story. DH downloaded it along with Finding Nemo. Some sofa and snuggle time to be had today

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 04/12/2008 12:06

Susie like the name

JustKeepSingingCarols · 04/12/2008 12:50

OK, need someone to give me a firm shake/slap/snap out of it talking to...

Dh foolishly said yesterday he might be able to leave work early today (1pm early, so home before 3). has just rung and i knew it was either of 2 things; 1 )am leaving and on way home or, 2) can't leave early after all.

Any guesses???

He says he has a really important meeting with new team (has just changed) at 4pm this afternoon. if it's 'absolutely awful' at home then 'of course' he'll come home now but....

Well it's NOT ABSOLUTELY AWFUL and i know the meeting is too important to miss just to come home and play with the boys/give me a hand. But now i'm sat here trying not to cry (failing miserably actually ).

i've been up since 3am, the boys were hard work at playgroup - ds1 had a meltdown because i took him away from the toys he was playing really nicely with as it was his turn to see FC, cue tears, head banged on the floor, snotty nose, no tissue handy, ds2 crying too, me manhandling them into the other room to see FC, other mums looking on tutting (ok maybe i imagined that bit!).....argh.
friend with 2 dcs there this morning had her MIL with her to help, other friend with 2 dcs has her mum moving to the area asap to help.
my parents couldn't care less and moved to a new house in devon recently missing out on the chance to move here even though we told them we wanted them to.

just feeling x100000 right now.
come in snap me out of it!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 04/12/2008 13:30

JKS

JustKeepSingingCarols · 04/12/2008 13:35

ds2 napping, ds1 watching tv.

dh will still come home, but not before dcs bedtime i shouldn't think.
he's off out at 7am tomorrow too so no lie-in possibility.

have had 3 cups of tea and a diet coke so far. need to stay awake & 'with it' for orchestra later too.
last rehearsal before concert on sat.

Gingemejinglybells · 04/12/2008 15:34

Oh jks I totaly know where your coming from I realy do. I hope things have calmed down for you now. Its always the way isn't it when dh isn't around
Weve done something next to nothing today. The boys weren't that interested in Toy Story but I thoroughly enjoyed it Can't believe ds1 was watching it 10 years ago when he was 4

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 04/12/2008 16:41

JKS - Hope you are ok? ((Hugs))

Am struggling a bit with the 2 Dcs myself and I am getting a fairly good nights kip most nights so don't know how you do it!!

DD been screaming and straining today and has eaten NO dairy products at all so obviously the problem is something else. Suspect it might be the soy yogurt Have left message for hosp to call me, wonder how long that will take

HarkTheHeraldAngeChica · 04/12/2008 16:46

We're snowy here too Lily. Snowed all morning then brightened up. Didn't want to go anywhere in car today but just been for a walk with dog and A in back carrier. He was giggling like mad at dog's ridiculous antics in the snow. We walked out earlier to drs (smear test ) and shops and the snow was dead mushy so was really hard to push the buggy!

good name Simpson!

Nights are still rubbish here. He's fine the first half of the night but we're mostly ending up in camp bed beside DS's cot but even that isn't enough for him now - will only settle if brought in with us dammit. Went to baby clinic yesterday for first time in ages - A is 26 lb 4. I was imagining him to be 2 stone but he's only put 1 lb a month on so is still following his line OK! HV gave leaflet about sleep training but DH keeps bottling it as he has such a lot on at work at the moment.

LaTurkey · 04/12/2008 16:46

Sympathy JKS

I find myself necking caffeine most days

FWIW I would have asked DH to come home. He can pick up the slack sometimes, especially when I'm getting no sleep.

Any chance of him taking over for a while at the weekend?

Gingeme - thanks for your advice the other day. And as for TOy Story - As I know from teaching secondary school kids, there's nothing like a teenager to make you feel old!

Lily - how's the snow?

MM - what happens at baby music class?

Simpson - glad you liked the name

For those of you who may one day put together a photo album - DON@T put your first picture in on the first page and discover that the sticky things you bought are useless.

Baby crying - where did that naptime go?

HarkTheHeraldAngeChica · 04/12/2008 16:47

PS fingers x you will get a better night JKS x

JustKeepSingingCarols · 04/12/2008 17:31

Thanks for the hugs and thoughts.

well it will officially go down as A Bad Day.

Teatime descended into chaos as both boys were crying at the same time. Rang DH to vent but of course no answer.
then ds2 decides he will eat all of the ravioli so that sorts him out but ds1 will have NONE of it. ok, then he spies the nutella - want dat mummy.
i think soddit, have it on some toast. noooooooo
he just wanted the jar on the table so he could stick his finger in it (wonder where he's seen that? )
so is picking the nutella off the toast making a right mess, then goes into one cos his fingers are dirty .
clean them.
every time i move away from ds2 he screams blue murder....
i try to make ds1 eat HALF a piece of ravioli, he turns away, pushes it away, and shouts.
i lose it at this point and take him upstairs and shut him in his room in the dark
go back down (to a screaming ds2), sort him out, calm down.
go back up - he's going to sleep. me tired mummy..wtf?
so that's it, backfired on me big time, he's gone to bed at 4.45.
dh is on the train. ds2 watching Night Garden - the only thing that seems to stop him screaming .

ds1 will either wake up at 10ish starving having only eaten some nutella for tea! or more likely at 3am tomorrow.
think i may sleep on the other side of the bed and let dh deal with the fallout....

saturday is busy as it's concert day which means rehearsal/setting up in the afternoon.
sunday we are off to surrey for a birthday party.

these things are sent to try us......

lily - love the snow pics! is it melting yet? just lots of rain here.

simpson - poor dd is the soya milk working ok? just the yoghurt causing probs? is there something else in it?

LaT - i should have asked dh to come home i think. i don't like to show that i'm not coping, even when it's obvious i'm not! but felt that he made it impossible for me to choose the miss-the-meeting option.

ange - no advice from here re sleeping probs - just grit teeth and bear it i guess....

right, must wipe ds2's nose, again, snotfest here too...

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 04/12/2008 17:49

JKS - Sorry you have had such a rough evening

Someone on the 2 under 3 thread calls it the "witching hour" for the time between tea and bed!!How apt!!

DS kicked off because he wanted an apple so I got one out of fruit bowl, cut it etc then he had melt down because he wanted to "choose" the apple!!!

DD has also gone to bed very early 5.15 so will be up again with her no doubt. Grrr.

Hope rehearsal goes ok tonight...

Rubysmom08 · 04/12/2008 20:21

Hi ladies

Sorry to hear that you are struggling with sleep. When Ruby was woken y the fireworks she wouldn't resettle herself because they woke her right up. I put a radio in her room and that did the trick, just on low but the constant noise apparently soothed her. Worth a try xx

Ruby still feeding herself with a spoon, she is doing so well.. here is a link for some pics of her...

JKS bless you hope your having a nice calming end to the day at your rehearsal!!
Poor you tommorrow will be better and is a new day!! weak hope tonights better i having a glass of wine that seems to soften the blow!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 04/12/2008 21:35

good to know your not alone
sleep deprivation is enough to tip you over ...........

Rubysmom08 · 04/12/2008 21:47

god we get sleep and we're like that!

just heard baby jones #2 on the doppler.. makes me feel all happy x

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 04/12/2008 21:56

Ruby - Awww how sweet!! Makes me want to be pg How many weeks are you now?

Can't believe Ruby is feeding herself Still not brave enough to let DD have spoon

JustKeepSingingCarols · 05/12/2008 08:51

Morning all

Weird evening/night/morning.
So ds1 went to bed at 4.45.
DS2 stirred at some point, let Dh settle him.
4.30 i wake up to hear both boys crying.
Wake DH
he goes to ds2, i go to ds1 thinking well that's nearly 12 hours so expect he'll want to get up now, not sure what i'm going to do...'want drink mummy'
ok, dh gets drink, 'fank you mummy' (awww cute!), he drinks lots, lies down and back to sleep...?
DS2 stirring lots, dh dealing, but i don't get back to sleep for a while.
DS1 wakes a couple of others times, first time wanted his trousers off i think (was still in clothes not pjs)
then wanted trousers back on [fhmmm] lots
then i woke at 6.57
ds2 awake, dh now has 13 minutes to leave the house! then ds1 decides he will get up after all.
so he had about 14hours sleep!!

ds2 gone back for nap, don't think we will make playgroup this morning. ds1 ok i think, only had a small breakfast so not normal.
dh back about 1ish ( i think) so aiming low for today....

Rubysm - that's brilliant kind of wished i'd had a doppler thingie but sure i would've been obsessive about it!
Love the photos! you are brave with the spoon thing, i daren't just yet, enough mess already!

Lily - thanks! that thread is so us, though we have tried to stop the telly-flop thing in the evenings unless shattered or there is something specific we have recored to watch.
so we try to eat in the kitchen more. and try to go out every now and then - obv that involves paying sitters but sanity more important than finances!!
(wish we had family that wouldn't mind popping round for a few hours in the eve to watch our tv while we go out though...)
orchestra was fine last night, i made sure we did the hard pieces first then left early so in bed by 9.30.

simpson - what can you do eh? sometimes the stupidest things set them off! how was/is dd?

right, must at least get dressed i suppose!

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 05/12/2008 09:45

Hi all

Slightly better night, only up at 11, 1.15, 3.30 and 4.30 , poor lad very coughy so a bit thirsty giving extra bf.

So 6.30 was hard...

Was rushing around, searching in my bag trying to get my keys, something starts beeping, dh yells from bedroom where he is playing with Nathan 'you have switched on the burglar alarm!', had pressed silly little remote by accident. rush to switch it off, hear Nathan cry, rush in 'is he ok he never cries when you play', dh: 'he does when I yell in his ear about switching an alarm off' . silly mummy, leave daddy to do his job...

Ok, no calls this morning, so assuming Nathan is at childminders and dh writing sermon or whatever else. Need to do something here too

Nathan's messy beetroot pic has made the facebook cutest baby of the week final (theme: messy eater )

Rubesmum will done on heartbeat. I did not get one for same reason as jks. also discovered when he was a little bit bigger than a tadpole that he hated the thing!!
