I'm not allowed back on until I've thought of a Christmas name, but just wanted to say ...

Sorry MM - . I suppose I always think of Nathan grinning his head off so I didn't think, but I'm sorry the old link made you sad.

simpson · 03/12/2008 20:11

Hi all

Not been on for a bit as been feeling rather ill, bad tummy etc All better now though, even on the wine

Lilyloo - Glad the wolves will have a good home!! Did you spend much at party the other night?

LaT - Have not thought of an Xmas name here either. Anyone got any ideas??

Lucky - Hope A is better today?

JKS - We put our tree up today as DS wanted to do it and planning on doing cards tomorrow!!

Gingeme - Sorry you have been feeling pants too Am at someone thinking george is 2!!

Madmouse - How was work today?

DD seems to be teething again. Its the 3rd bout of teething (bright red cheeks, lots of tears, velcro baby to mummy only etc) but still ZERO teeth

Also anyone with older DCs Did your toddler really start to play up in the evenings after pre school? I know it is just tiredness but v difficult to deal with as DD total whingebag (that's her new nickname in the Simpson household!!)in the evenings. Everything i give him for tea is "horrid" When he has a bath the water is either too hot/cold then when he gets out towel is the wrtong colour etc. Driving me mad!!!

Can I tell him off or just ignore (though very hard with him clinging to my leg)as I know it is just tiredness??

I have brought his bedtime forward to 6.30.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 03/12/2008 20:22

Simpson dd was a total nightmare after her 2 full nursery days. She only just better these last few months but it is just tiredness.

WalkingInALaTruchawonderland

LOL i am not very good at this

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 03/12/2008 20:32

Hi all

LaTrucha don't worry. it was also good, as it helped me to connect with some fond memories from the pregnant months. And besides this board is not about me...

Any luck with the Christmas name? Guess you made it hard for yourself hey , WeWishYouaFishyChristmas??

Simpson glad you are better, careful with the wine.

Work was fine, actually did a bit of legal work and I have not lost all of it [relieved emoticon]. I do think that in the New Year i will keep my eyes open for something closer to home, as i am not sure how long i will keep up the travelling. I am a seasoned commuter, but it is different with a baby you want to get to.

dh coped much beter today, bless him, Nathan was sobbing when I picked him up at lunch time and cm very apologetic, just a tizzy. Told her if he never cries I will worry you drugged him
Then we had physio and a nap.

Now the poor thing is all snotty, would not go to sleep only now I have given him some calpol. dh still coughing, oh joy

I think I am aiming for bed at 9.30...

Night all

simpson · 03/12/2008 20:33

Lilyloo - I went back to work when Ds was 11mths and he spent 2 or 3 days in a nursery and he used to come back very tired then. When I went on mat leave with DD I sent him to playgroup 4 mornings a week (he was 2.4)and he coped fine, now he has started pre school 5 afternoons a week he is HELL

Is very hard to keep patient when all you hear is whinging. He kicked off this evening because I wouldn't let him have a 2nd pack of raisins. (he normally hates raisins )

JustKeepSingingCarols · 03/12/2008 20:33

i'm already in bed

battery about to go hope we all get a good night

simpson · 03/12/2008 20:36

JKS & madmouse - Hope you get a good nights lseep [hopeful emoticon]

Gave DD calpol this evening too For the third evening in a row she was in bed by 5.15pm Just could not keep her up anymore.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 03/12/2008 20:39

Does pre school only do afternoons ??

simpson · 03/12/2008 20:44

It does mornings but all the places gone TBH if he is tired from pre school the thought of having him ALL afternoon whinging does NOT thrill me with joy...

Think the difference from playgroup is they are learning more iyswim. Letters, numbers, songs etc. Not so much playing.

I have four evenings in a row coming up on my own (Dh at work}...not looking forward to it AT ALL.

Trying to cook tea does my head in...I try to forward plan as much as I can though.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 03/12/2008 20:46

Just that he may have a little nap in the afternoon if it's wearing him out.
Can you ask for them to consider him if a place comes up ?
Other than that hopefully earlier bedtime will help.

simpson · 03/12/2008 20:51

We get home at 3.30pm so I only have 3hrs of it (which can seem a loooong time) Earlier bedtime seems to work which is good.

Might offer him a little lie down when he comes in...but don't want him to sleep too long then he won't go to bed!!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 03/12/2008 20:53

Even just a 30min nap might help. DD1 often sleeps on school run for 20-30 min!

Rubysmom08 · 03/12/2008 20:57

hiya ladies

Hope you all get some sleep tonight!! I found Medised was good when Ruby was congested, I know it is a bit taboo but my GP said it was really effective.

Talking of those things that are taboo- what are your thoughts on the MMR jab? I have been doing a lot of research and I think I am going to decline the combi jab and go for the seperates. Be interestred to know what people thought.

Read the thread last night of this time last year and then I found the night when I was in hospital and I posted at 3am saying I was feeding my beautiful little girl. God I cried! think it maybe pregnancy hormones.

Me and dh are currently in the middle of a fight- I have asked him to do the washing up tonight as he cooked his own dinner and considering he only had burger and chips he couldn't have used more pots and pans! Plus he is a useless sod who doesn't ever help round the house and I feel knackered today.

Ruby is eating again but only if she can feed herself with a spoon, she is suprising fantastic at it so there you go!

Madmouse just wanted to see how you were doing with the counselling? I am still having ine, bit upset as I was treated a bit oddly at my first hospital appointment a couple of weeks ago. I was honest and said that I had been on citaolpram at my 8 week check so when I camne to have my 12 week scan the hospital midwife said to me that I was high risk, I burst into tears thinking that she meant the baby was ill, but apparently it's because I had a form of PND. Not bothered now as I got the midwife to apologise in person after complaining about her handling of the situation. I only have a couple more sessions with my counseller and I have to be honest by week 8 I thought it was crap, now I have put so many demons to rest I feel like a new me but not a different me if you get what I am saying. So proud of Nathan hun xxx

simpson · 03/12/2008 21:02

Lilyloo - How old is DD1 (sorry I can't remember )

Bluebell - Don't know much about MMR separately sorry but I do remember HV saying that the vaccines have to be stored at a certain temp etc so she thought there was more risk of vaccine not taking as you have to have 3 iyswim. But on the other hand Dh's best friend in Ireland has a son who is about 9 who is autistic and they are convinced its down to MMR

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 03/12/2008 21:03

She is 4 on 13th Jan
How old is ds ?

simpson · 03/12/2008 21:07

He was 3 in August so maybe offering nap is the way to go

His birthday is the cut off for him starting when he did (he is youngest in class by quite a bit)if he was a day younger he would have started in Jan next yr.

JustKeepSingingCarols · 04/12/2008 07:17

Wed afternoons are Ds1's witching time, after 2 days at nursery, then a morning at pre-school, he's exhausted.
have offered him a snooze on the sofa, with blanket and/or a film but not having any of it.

crap night last night
9.15ish turned light off
3-4 on and off DS2 crying, tried finger in calpol twice, then some teetha, a cuddle, checked his legs were in sleepsuit properly, eventually he gave in and went back to sleep - i didn't feed him though so that was good.
4-5 i lie in bed not sleeping
5 DS1 starts coughing
5.10 ds1 up - put back in bed
5.15 ds1 up again - put back in bed again
5.16 me crying wondering what kind of test this is & is it making me a better person in any way at all or just more miserable/tired/snappy/fed up
5.20 ds1 up again - put back in bed again with threat of a smack if he got up again
worked though!
6 ds2 crying & up, ds1 up.

think i had 5.5hrs
of course dh away.
and tomorrow he has to leave the house at 7 so no lie in for me then. saturday morning i think i will have to feed ds2 then go back to bed for the morning!
have extra orchestra tonight - think i will be on the tea/diet coke all day just to keep going....

ruby - so has the counselling been worth it? if it helps even a little bit i suppose so. i still wonder if i should have talked through ds2's em c-s, may find that i want to when i'm pg next time (after last night IF i'm pg ever again!).

re MMR - ds1 had it after lots of toing and froing in this house. he was/is fine.
so think ds2 will have it.

JustKeepSingingCarols · 04/12/2008 08:29

Merry Christmas!

LaTurkey · 04/12/2008 09:42

Ok. this is the best I can do so far. What do you think.

LaTrucha

LaTurkey · 04/12/2008 09:43

Or I could be ElPabo - which is turkey in Spanish just to keep up the 'Spanish animals' theme of LaTrucha.

LaTurkey · 04/12/2008 09:44

I am eating tomato soup at thei time in the morning! DH ate all the toast and I don't want cereal again (first breakfast was at 6am)

JustKeepSingingCarols · 04/12/2008 09:48

Excellent name

soup, yum. going to have to wake ds2 to get to baby group i think...
it's christmas party/FC day there today and tomorrow so not worried if we miss the big man but want to get out of the house or i'll fall asleep and ds1 will watch Lazytown on loop!!

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 04/12/2008 10:05

Morning all JKS crap night here too.
I was awake for ages as couldn't fall asleep, think i was sub consciously waiting for dp to get back from football cause of the bad weather.
Fell asleep at 11.30 when he came in.

Am shattered and we have a ton of snow will post some pics so got all dc's off school again and ds choir concert cancelled.
