Hey I dont mind if you want to call your LO Aaliyah. I would if it was a one of a kind like I was hoping it would be but I know lodas of people with Aaliyah's now!! lol

madmouse · 29/11/2008 21:27

oh simpson dd would have soon settled down. hope you enjoyed your day and that you are enjoying your evening

and readybrek and weetabix actually keep Nathan 'going'

so dd a lot better on soy milk then? The real pain is of course reading the lables and avoiding all dairy, what a pita. But hey, anything for your baby

LuckySalem · 29/11/2008 21:29

DD's eczema is getting worse I just dont know what to do.

Gonna have to ring docs on Monday I think.

madmouse · 29/11/2008 21:30

Lucky how are you and why are you posting so little? Missing all your stories about aliyah

Hi Mrsmc glad you are back

LuckySalem · 29/11/2008 21:34

I'm having a hard time at the mo coping with Aaliyah. She's not so much hard work but i've been ill for a while just feeling generally rough. Threw up the other day while I was mid aaliyah change. Had to near enough throw her in her cot to run to bathroom. Come back and of course she'd peed all over the nice bedding typical.
Her eczema is getting worse, she's still doing this screaming thing that I dont know how to deal with.
Tonight has been horrible trying to get her to sleep. She wouldn't take her bottle and just kept screaming at me. I put her down in her cot and left her for 5 mins and she was still screaming so got dressed and went to get pram to take her for a walk and she's screamed herself to sleep so now I feel terrible for that.

I'm just feeling pretty crappy at the mo. So to stop bringing you all down I've been just "lurking" as I dont know the problem so couldn't share anyway. Just feel like a walking hormone and nothing seems to fix it.

I'll sort myself out and be back soon.

Hope everyone is ok though - I am trying to keep updated. lol

LuckySalem · 29/11/2008 21:36

Aaliyah update - shes been telling me off while I've been cooking so I think she's gonna be a better cook than me.

She's learnt how to get off the sofa and back on again by pulling all the cushions off and clambering over them back up again. She can climb the stairs and has been tearing across the floor on her pushalong walker..... Its manic here!!

madmouse · 29/11/2008 21:40

can you please not stay away until it is sorted. that's not what pals are ofr, we were preggers together remember, we know each other [stern emoticon]

sounds tough .also sounds like you are too much alone dealing with her, so that relatively 'small' things like her screaming at bedtime really drain you.

you are doing a fab job with her. have you considered she may be teething? teething is always worse at bedtime and they can teeth for ages before anything becomes visible.

Or maybe she is just frustrated that the day is over and there is so much left to do!

just keep talking about it on here, you may get some useful ideas or at least a listening ear. No need to deal with it alone...

MrsMcJnr · 29/11/2008 21:44

Lucky ? thanks hon, that?s the thing, you think a name is original and then once you?ve used it you hear it everywhere! Sorry to hear you feel low and that Aaliyah is being hard work, you know we all have days like that and it does help to share, you won?t bring anyone down, we?ll just empathise ? it?s hard work being a Mummy

I have to find a new way to keep DS within the confines of the lounge he is climbing on top of one of the weighted baskets I use to block his exit and superman-ing off the other side!

Hey Madmouse

LuckySalem · 29/11/2008 21:50

The thing is she doesn't bother in the day. Like today she's been non-stop but happy then as soon as I put her eczema cream on her she started yelling and didn't stop. Wouldn't drink her bottle or anything. She did however stop screaming when distracted wtih DP's phone? Which is what made me think she was complaining about having to go to bed.

Anyways..... was meant to be meeting up with "ex" workmates tomorrow but now my friend has cancelled cos there is a measles epidemic and the docs have told her she shouldn't take him out as he hasn't had the jab, Aaliyah hasn't had her jab either should I be worried?

LuckySalem · 29/11/2008 21:53

Oh I meant to ask you all this a while ago but completely forgot.

Are you all getting the MMR jabs?

simpson · 29/11/2008 22:26

Hi all

Just a quick post before X factor!!

House seems very quiet without Dcs even though they would have been asleep!!

Madmouse - Must try weetabix again!! The difference since she has been on soya milk is amazing no screaming/straining at all!! Only problem is GP messed up prescription and I had to put in for a repeat one straight away as she only gave us small tin of formula. Have to be very frugal with milk till Monday as chemist has run out. Grr.

Lucky - Sorry you are having a tough time Agree with MM that is what we are here for don't stay away (stern voice!!)DS had MMR with no problems so DD will have it too. Unfortunately Ds has to have a pre school jab soon and he is old enough to know what is going on so that will be hard!!

Mrs Mcjnr - Glad you are pretty much settled on name!! Think you know when you have the right one. When I was pg with DD we had Nathan for a boy and Ava for a girl because DH said he thought Molly was a pet dog's name (it was my ABSOLUTE FAV)and he only changed his mind the day before I went into labour

Angechica - wow 9 teeth!! We are still waiting for our first one here

JustKeepSwimming · 30/11/2008 09:26

Whoops, have fallen behind a bit!

um - quite a big gap between tooth 8 and 9, will look it up later. tooth 9 is still working it's way out, just the tips are out, not the main middle bit iykwim?

have been doing well on no night feeds
though ds2 has woken about 5am the last few days - waking ds1 in the process! just as we'd got him to post 6 o'clock as well. ho hum, win some, lose some....

have lost a bit more weight too, under 10 stone this morning
(only just but hey under is under!).
still aiming for 8 and a half by february (birthday) and definitely by June (brother's wedding in bermuda).
Have booked flights
talked dh into booking too so we are away from wed-tues ON OUR OWN x lots!
boys will stay here with PIL.
They are refundable tickets if dh needs to cancel if we decide it's a bad idea. but really looking forward to that first rum cocktail in the sunshine..........

simpson - hope you are enjoying the peace
and your mum is managing so she will offer again!

lucky - don't worry about being down, wasn't it me being majorly depressive a weeks or so ago? i don't recall holding back my miserable thoughts
was pmt combined with poor sleep.
have had quite a long period too (gingeme - operation mooncup was successful! though took some getting used to) so wonder if hormones were more messed up than usual.

mrsmc - hope you are coping well with pg, it's exhausting at the beginning isn't it? (oh and the middle and the end and after the baby arrives and.....)

um, handyman coming round later to get started on various jobs i want sorted pre-family descending on us at Christmas time, hope he can get all the list done, though we are already thinking of more things for another day.
so, best get off here....

Lilyloo · 30/11/2008 13:04

Hey all am sitting down for 5 mins!

Simpson hope you don't have a bad head with the wine and chocs and you have been having a nice rest!

JKS sounds lovely! And well done on the sleep thing with the boys again!

Lucky sorry to hear you feeling down but agree with MM stop lurking come and moan on here. Are you on the pill could it be that ?

MrsMc wow 14 weeks it's flying by! Love the name and you never going to have a unique name so might as well have one you love!

Ange at your MIL post

Well am shattered and could do with a good nights sleep! Got in at 12 and was up 4 time with Martha from then until 4.30 she then slept until 8! Would like to think it's cause she missed me but know it's not. We going to do cc starting again tonight but neither of us looking forward to it either that or me and dp moving downstairs.
Got lot's of xmas pressies yesterday spent over £100 and got another 6 to get for family yet but got a digital photo frame for il's for £45 reduced from £90 It was packed no sign of the credit crunch yesterday!
DD fell asleep at the football yesterday and said it was boring DS all excited going to see his team at the derby today hope they win!

Everyone got their xmas names for tom ?

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 30/11/2008 13:31

No xmas name here yet. I'm thinking Aaliyahsfirstxmas but that doesn't tie in with my normal name.

Am on pill but keep forgetting to take it

Feeling a little better today cos my friend is bringing her daughter around and i'm making us all dinner.

Still overly tired though as couldn't sleep. I ended up tydying the front room at 1am this morning Looks lovely now though and I feel a nice sense of achievement.

simpson · 30/11/2008 18:40

Hi all

Have had a FAB day today. Had lie in then DH made me a sausage sandwich before he went to work. Had relaxing bath etc then my mum dropped Dcs off at around 2ish. They had been fine but she found DD very hard work So its not just me that thinks that!!

The little boy from next door (the one whose Grandad died a few weeks ago) had his 6th birthday party in a local hall so went to that. DS had a great time and joined in with all the games which suprised me as he was the youngest by a few yrs One older boy pushed him off a chair in musical chairs so he got a special prize

Had a good old natter with the other mums there and have arranged to meet them for coffee one morning which was nice.

Lucky - Hope you are ok today?

AngeChica · 30/11/2008 20:20

Oh Simpson. Did you get a good night's sleep last night without DCs!?

We went to a gig last night. It was OK but I felt like a bit of an old fogey checking for messages from the babysitter instead of rocking out down the front like I would have in days gone by....

A has another cold / temperature thingy and has been clingy and sleepy today. Has gone to bed without evening bottle. He pushed it away possibly for the first time in his life . Off for an early night now as I am sure we are in for a rough night.

Hope you have had a better day today Lucky.

simpson · 30/11/2008 21:15

Angechica - I slept great was a bit pissed though My poor mother didn't as DD was up at midnight and again at 5!!

Glad you had a good night out.

Right anyone with older Dcs...I want to start some family Xmas traditions this year as DS old enough to appreciate it.

Any ideas gratefully received!!

One of them was I was thinking of buying DS a Christmas themed book each yr. Have got "The night before Xmas" Would you give it on Xmas Eve or a bit earlier to have longer to read (get bored) of it??

LuckySalem · 30/11/2008 21:17

Simpson - me and DP are starting a tradition this year of buying us all a new set of PJ's to wear. We're also gonna watch a xmas DVD in bed with DD before she goes to sleep (which she'll enjoy more as she gets older)

simpson · 30/11/2008 21:20

Lucky - I did think of doing that but DS wouldn't care about having new PJ's Maybe its a boy thing!!

Definately going to do it when DD is bigger though...might buy some new PJ's for myself though as I need some...any excuse

LuckySalem · 30/11/2008 21:24

Think of something along those lines though? Perhaps if not new PJ's then just the film (make sure its xmassy though its the rule )

We thought we'd do that to make sure that we change our PJs once a year at least

I had a LOVELY evening this evening. My friend and her daughter came round for dinner. I made pizza, chips and sweetcorn "better than mummy" went down Brilliantly! and although aaliyah got a little moithered by the girl who wanted to take her everywhere but cos aaliyah can't walk yet she got dragged a few times!! bless. She loved it too.

I've decided that I'm lonely but most people I know want to go out drinking whereas i'd rather talk, go for a meal, take the kids somewhere etc. So need to find someone who likes the same things as me. I tried babyclub and for some reason they didn't want to come to soft play with us and I didn't get invited to go shopping either so.....

madmouse · 30/11/2008 21:25

Hi all

Getting ready for my first day at work tomorrow.

Cooking dinner ahead

Packing Nathan's bag

Packing mine

(separate bags )

Feeling sick, don't wanna go

My darling stepmum rang for moral support said 'I am sure you are feeling in two minds about it', I said 'nope, one mind, don't wanna go '

Telling myself I can always resign if I cannot hack it.

Need an early night. And some courage. Just want to cry

DH also very daunted. He can feed Nathan, and dress him, but has never yet fed and dressed him and made sure he was out fo the door on time. He has the car as he needs to travel for a meeting so that should help.

Off to write him a checklist. He is capable, honest, but does not really believe it himself and is not very practical

Will probably post panicked messages from the office tomorrow

LuckySalem · 30/11/2008 21:27

Oh MM - I hope tomorrow goes ok for you. Try to keep positive I know its hard. I felt sick to my stomach just the thought of going back to work without aaliyah so your braver than me.

I hope you have a nice day and so does Nathan and DH.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 30/11/2008 21:36

Oh MM it will be fien and Nathan will be fine. Remember my first day back with ds and that cuddle when you get back from work keeps you going.
Hope it goes well (it will) !!

Lucky shame we don't live closer. Guess you have to try different mother and toddler groups near you to find like minded mums!

Simpson ours are choose a new dec for the tree at local garden centre every year. DS loves this and we can lol at some of his choices when he was atoddler like the big pink robin! He actually wants a nativity scene this year (have visions of putting that out when i am 70 with a tear in my eye!)
We also do the dvd xmas eve! Never done the pj's but as you say ds wouldn't bother either!
We do the reindeer food which they love do this before the dvd. Then when the dvd nearly ending dp rings some beels outside of the door. Usually get's them racing off to bed. And story is night before xmas but only 'the night befroe xmas'.
We also deliver xmas pressies to neighbours dc's on xmas eve which may be nice forthe little boy on yours. DS usually chooses these and will let dd this year!

simpson · 30/11/2008 21:37

Lucky - I am like you would rather go for meal and chat etc. (Pity we don't live nearer!!) I have quite a few "mummy friends" now but it is mainly due to DS. Meeting other mum's at playgroup/nursery etc. I take DD to a baby & toddler group on Tuesday but go with a mum I met through DS.

Have you got a library nearby? They tend to have storytime etc.
How about MN in your area? Do they have meet ups etc?

Have found a website that tracks Santa so DS can see santa set off with pressies from North Pole. Think he might like that.

Madmouse - Good luck tomorrow. The first day will be the hardest. I remember leaving DS at nursery when I went back after mat leave. He seemed so small compared to the other kids. But have to say once I got into office (and rang a `100 times to check up on him!!) I did get into swing of things.

LuckySalem · 30/11/2008 21:49

Oh lily - I like the idea of taking the presents on xmas eve. Might add that one to our list of traditions.
Simpson - Along with tracking santa.

Again DD wont know most of these this year but I wanna start young.

One of MY main traditions was to get up SUPER early to open pressies and am currently at war with DP over this as he thinks SUPER early is 7am..... PMSL.... no SUPER early is 5am!!! Thing is she needs to do this cos its my whole families tradition and they ring everyone to see what Santa brought so I'm gonna win this but I have agreed that we'll keep a few presents back till after dinner (the bigger ones)

It is funny how lots on here want to do what I want but noone in RL does.... I dont know any other babyclubs. Will try library though.
