fab news Inzi ... now back to ttc for you!

I got my first period 4 weeks to the day from when M was born, and have been as regular as ever since - don't really think it's fair, especially as I excl. bf for 6 months, and am still bf, but hey!

A Real saga this morning - I got M up (she was not at all happy), changed her nappy (dry), bundled her up, put her in the car, with just enough time to get to the docs - cue car refusing to start! It's getting on a bit now (nearly 10 years old!), and doesn't like the cold / damp - we may have to change it after all ... anyway, walked over to the doctors (phoned first and they changed my appointment to 11am), saw the doc, who confirmed that M was just suffering from this horrible lergy, and that I was managing to get enough fluids into M as long as she was still having some wet nappies during the day.
I explained about her only drinking bm (and direct from source), so the absolute marvel that she is, she signed me off work until next Monday so that I could continue to feed her!
Haven't broken the news to them at work yet ... will wait until I can leave a message on the answerphone!
I have a horrible feeling though, that I'll have R home with me too - he only went to school this morning as he has his Christmas concert today, tomorrow and Thursday, and he has a karate grading tonight ... which I'm supposed to be going to - hope J is home in time for me to go and see it!

Right, am off to sort out work for my classes ... will be MNing quite a lot (hopefully) for the next few days!

CrochetDivaMadeTheElvesNewHats · 09/12/2008 15:25

Dal, it's horrible when they get sick - don't worry about trying to get him to eat, just get as much (plain) fluid into him as possible.

AndADalrympsInAPearTree · 09/12/2008 15:48

Crochet - thanks for the tip. He drank his milk and has just gone down ffor his nap thank god. He usually has water with his meals too so i'll keep offering him that.

This is a bit like the last tummy bug he had in that he's not actually being sick that often but it's coming out the other end and he's refusing most food but drinking his milk. I managed to get him through that one without loosing any weight so hope I can do the same again. Every oz counts with Dylan.

I really can't remember whether I said but Dylan saw the paediatrician last week for his check up. He had gained 1lb 30z in 3 weeks. Thats the most he's gained in ages so the new higher calorie milk he's on must be doing it's job. I'm so pleased he's on it, especially now he's unwell.

Meant to ask everyone. what are you thinking of getting the lo's for christmas? I just can't decide. He's got quite a lot of toys (thanks mainly to granny) and has a walker, trike, rocking horse, building blocks, and plenty teddies. I don't want to just buy him more toys when he's got so many but I feel mean not buying any toys iyswim. I'm trying to think of one or two bigger toys that every lo should have but he hasn't got but am struggling. Any ideas?

Had another go at ttcing last night, am supposed to be on my 'fertile days' as of tomorrow so we're going for an every other day approach

CrochetDivaMadeTheElvesNewHats · 09/12/2008 17:10

We have the opposite problem really - M has inherited all of R's "classic" toys, so we're stuck as to what to get her.

I've basically bought her this and a couple of very small things to open - not much as it'll all go over her head anyway!

This is a particular favourite with M at the moment - she's absolutely mad for drawing, and this enables me to let her loose with something that won't wreck the furniture!

StefkaSnowAngel · 09/12/2008 18:22

Poor Dareh isn't getting anything from us until the sales! I read something the other day that said children should have lots of play materials so maybe something along those lines? Maybe they are still a bit young for that sort of stuff though. I can't wait until Dareh is into dressing up - I want him to have loads of daft dressing up clothes he can play with.

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 09/12/2008 18:38

I've just asked people to get Henry anything plastic with flashing lights

He's a bit simple really!

Floria - Will try the hydration idea as like you say, it's really worth trying anything. I've always had headaches but since I started exercising they have got progressively worse and now I get them irriopsective of whther I've exercised or not. They had also stepped up loads of gears in intensity as I am now sick with them, feel my head is going to explode and can't bear lights/noise. I think they definately are migraines now as I get a warning -my nose aches (strange but true!) and tablets don't work, though now I can't take any anyway. In fact I was going to see the Dr about them just before I got prgt but never got round to it...

J2O · 09/12/2008 19:00

just a quickie so i don't lose you, there's no way i can reply to everyone!

Heinz-Congratulations
Inzi-hurry up and test! good news about your leg
Crochet-what a good GP
Shannon is ill too, she had an awful nappy yesterday that leaed everywhere, and then spewed everywhere this morning, so i was late for college, feel shattered and have a bit of a dodgy tummy myself-oh and my washer has packed up so having to lug washing to different peoples to get it washed.

I'm sick of feeling ill and being tired atm, going to get the girls to bed and have a nice bath, hopefully will feel more refreshed so that i can get on properly later

FLORIAinexcelsisdeo · 09/12/2008 19:44

Crochet; Mairwen suffered from reflux last year didn't she? If you have a minute could you possibly help a mumsnetter out here please.

deckthehallswithINZIsholly · 09/12/2008 19:53

quick one from me, DH brought home a test but its negative I am actually fine about it as I knew deep down it can take a while for AF to get regular...DH disappointed, but we have plenty time, I really want to shift a bit of weight so will start now (as much as possible for over xmas!!!) but we are not putting of TTC just going to go far it and see what happens. Going to try and relax about it so no pressure to get pregnant straight away. If I manage to lose a bit weight meantime it will be great.

CrochetDivaMadeTheElvesNewHats · 09/12/2008 20:34

oooh Inzi ... - now at least you can enjoy a drink over Christmas!

AllIWant4XmasIsAstrawberrylace · 09/12/2008 21:28

Hello everyone!
Hope you are all ok - i will never remember what everyone's said...
Heinz - congratulations!
TLES - love the poem
Muppet - sorry to hear that MIL and migraines are being nightmares
Alicet - glad new job is ok
Inzi - hoorah - no op!
Stefka - have had periods for ages, but too painful to bf with them so on the pill to stop them!
Crochet/J20/Dal - hope the LOs are better soon. Olly had really bad nappies and went off his food when he was first cutting his 4 molars all at once - perhaps that's it?

We are all ok here in strawberryland. Though DS has started waking at 1am screaming - anyone else getting this? It's like he's had a really bad dream. Nothing will get him back to sleep unless he's in bed with us - it's like separation anxiety at night, rather than in the day...

AndADalrympsInAPearTree · 09/12/2008 21:39

Strawberry - We've had the nightime screaming occasionally with refusal to settle. He usually comes in our bed but gets bored after a while and just wriggles then we try him back in his cot, sometimes it takes a few attempts and he will settle again. Sometimes he won't settle back in his cot at all but this is quite rare, it that case he just stays in our bed till he sleeps (eventually after pokingme in the eyes and pulling on my nose )

Inzi - Sorry it's negative , it's hard not to be dissapointed no matter how hard you try. At least as crochet says you can have an xmas drink . Sending get pregnant (((vibes))) to you

FLORIAinexcelsisdeo · 09/12/2008 21:39

Thanks Crochet and J20 I'm sure Tenacityflux will be grateful for your imput.

Inzi; lots of excersise of one sort or another for you over the next few months then

J20; I hope the bath refreshed you and you are feeling better.

It seems to be the season for dodgy tummies...I hope everybody suffering recovers quickly.

Just waiting for dh to call from Germany and let me know he's there safe and sound then I'm off to bed myself...I've been blaming Alexs snotty nose on teething but it looks like it must be a cold because I feel like I'm coming down with it too...well I don't want to be the only healthy one here

AllIWant4XmasIsAstrawberrylace · 09/12/2008 21:46

Meant to add - Inzi - bad luck about the negative, but at least you get to continue with the fun bit!
And Dal - feel better now I know I'm not the only one with a screamer in the middle of the night! Not that I wish you a bad night's sleep. He always goes straight back to sleep if he comes in with us, which i'd be happy with except i'm scared by all those people who say 'if you let him sleep with you he'll still be there when he's 18' - surely not???

StefkaSnowAngel · 09/12/2008 22:14

Sorry it was a negative Inzi but like you say there is no rush, it will happen when the time is right.

We've had a few nights of Dareh screaming and not being able to comfort him. I put it down to his jabs. I wish Dareh would come in the bed with us but he doesn't settle there for some reason.

LisaStockingLessLumpy · 09/12/2008 22:24

Thanks for the names Tles and great poem, I love you all xxx

Wow you lot have been busy busy today, I have no chance of properly catching up but here goes.

Muppet - I would try acupuncture for the migranes, I know a couple of people who have tried it and it has helped them. I feel for you, I have never suffered myself but my mum does and I have seen how ill she gets with them {{HUGS}} Also echo what others have said about your email.

alicet - glad the job seems like it may be good for you.

Inzi - good news about the non knee OP. Hope the ttc doesn't take too long

Well our playroom is now finished yay just need to get a couple of rugs and some table lamps and we are all set. Finally an end to the mess, I can now start cleaning the house ready for christmas.

Sam had his nativity play today, it was so cute, he was an innkeeper and had to say 'No, we have no room' not that you would know he said that considering he was nearly smothering himself with his hand I'll post a picture up soon so you can see him Then I went to watch him swimming, then I got back and cleaned up a bit and sorted their toys out ready to put in the new room. Done the bedtimes as DH is away till thursday, then I have decorated the tree and now I am just catching up with a couple of episodes of Desperate Housewives and here phew!

I hope I haven't missed out anything major

Sorry to all those of you that have poorly babes, Ben was exactly the same a few weeks back, turns out three of his double teeth had come through and I never even thought to check to see if that was it.

Regarding pressies, I have bought Ben and Sam a joint main pressie which is this and a few other bits an bobs. I am hoping that this way they won't argue as much, am I hoping too much?

LisaStockingLessLumpy · 09/12/2008 22:28

Ah my name change has meant all my details have gone... how do I get it back?

LisaLessLumpy · 09/12/2008 22:51

Testing

AndADalrympsInAPearTree · 09/12/2008 23:05

LSLL - Wow, you've been busy today. I think you should just sit and watch DHW for a while and not move. Sam looks soooooo sweet as the inn keeper, bet you were so proud to see him playing his part . I don't know how to get my details up with my new name either, anyone know?

Apricotsinbrandy · 09/12/2008 23:20

Hey guys, what's new????

Will you have me back?

Too tired to talk now, as per at this hour, but I'll aim to be back soon to say a proper hello and maybe even catch up with some of what I've missed.

Hope you're all doing ok.

big guilty hugs all round

A xxx

LisaLessLumpy · 09/12/2008 23:24

Wow Dal, I was just about to say I have uploaded 4 new pics and you have already seen one

Not sure on new names and details as yet, so have reverted back to me pre-christmas name. I'm too knackered to sort now, I'm off to bed. See you all tomorrow

FLORIAinexcelsisdeo · 10/12/2008 09:00

LLL;fab pictures! Sam looks utterly gorgeous in his costume ...love Batman Ben too! Congratulations on the new playroom it sounds just perfect.

Apricot; Fabulous to hear from you! What have you been up to?

Meant to say yesterday that Mon night was one of Alexs' best nights sleep ever, just one wake up for a quick feed at 2am...so of course he made up for it last night by screaming for me every 2 hours which was no fun when I was suffering from what I think might be flu I was running a high temperature, shivering and sweating and have developed a dry, painful cough...why,oh why is dh always in foreign parts when I have nights like this? ...My temperature seems back to normal this morning but the cough is wearing and Alex is full of himself despite the lack of sleep (he has developed a mania for hiding things under the rug,and is regularly testing me to see if he is allowed to touch the Christmas decorations yet)....a joyous day ahead I think not

DECKmuppetWITHBOUGHSOFHOLLY · 10/12/2008 10:02

Hi all

Well dh and I had a chat about MIL and we decided not to send the email as it's not going to change anything. Dh did say he just wanted them to know we're upset and why as they don;t talk face to face or on the phone. Not looking forward to dropping the boys off next Wed as she'll act as if there's nothing wrong and I'm just not that type of person. I sound confrontational but I just like things out in the open and can't be doing with falseness and pretend niceities (awful spelling i do apologise!)

LLL- fab news on the playroom and Sam looks GORGEOUS as an inkeeper

Floria -am hoping the flu leaves you very soon xxx

Apricot -Missing you, hope all is well!

Alice - glad the new job is going well

Inzi - sorry you're not prgt but have a great Christmas ttc!!!

Love to all
xxx

HeinzSight · 10/12/2008 13:45

just dipping in as still in denial!!!

sorry inzi you got a negative, I've been keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you. Fingers crossed you'll be joining me soon....

I've told some close friends who have been really helpful and supportive and have said they will help me as much as poss when No.4 arrives.

Heinz walks away still shaking her head in disbelief.

alicet · 10/12/2008 13:58

OMG you have been chatty!

LES - fab poem - made me a bit teary too!

Crochet - hope M is better soon... its pretty exhausting when they're poorly I find and probably more so for you with the bf. nice one of GP to sign you off though. And hope you get car sorted!

Muppet big hugs and some chocolate (would send wine but prob not the best plan at the mo ) to help you get through the mil situation... Totally know how you feel about wanting things out in the open. How about sending a brief email outlingin why you are not happy? Adam take his shoes and socks off too. The other week we were going round the supermarket and he kept taking them off so eventually I just put them in the bottom of the pram rather than risk losing them in the veg! He probably looked really silly in his winter coat and bare feet but hey ho!!

stefka your sil really needs to calm down with this competitive mum thing. She so missed the point of your call didn't she? Plus why does it matter who walks first? I mean what are you meant to do? Physically force them

Dal hope Dylan is feeling better...

Inzi glad there was nothing serious on the MRI. Not great at bones and joints so probably your GP (with the benefit of the proper result) will be able to help more than me. I do remember MRI is pretty accurate at looking for problems though. Sorry test was neg too but like you say there are benefits to not getting pg too soon (not least the drink at Christmas as crocet pointed out!!!)

About Christmas pressies... We are giving Adam a wooden bus we got on half price in WHSmiths ages ago with the intention of giving it to one of the boys. Has removable wooden people and stuff - he loves putting things together and taking bits out at the mo so think he will love it. We also bought him some nice books as he really likes books too and we thought it would be nice for him to have some of his own to play with. Like Crochet we struggled too as Sam has so so many toys and it seemed ridiculous to buy more for Adam when there is so much already.

J2O sorry to hear you are all under the weather... Sending you some big get well vibes and a hug xxx

Strawberry sorry to hear about the 1am wakings - no fun at all. Adam did this a few weeks back for a few nights in a row and it was a big shock as he has always settled really easily. Seemed to sort itself out pretty quickly though so fingers crossed will be the same for you too...

Floria hope you don't get a cold esp with dh away. Hope it's not for long!

Lisa thats a great idea for a pressie for your 2. Sam has a toy kitchen and mine play together with it really nicely - most of the time anyway!

Apricot you have been missed as always! Hope things are good with you xxx

Anyway dh is away again tonight in London so fingers crossed the boys willl behave!! They have ben lovely this am too especially as I was spending most of it getting jobs done and just wheeling them round in the double buggy... Still we're going to some friends this pm so they will have more fun then and we'll do something nice tomorrow.

Catch you later prob once boys in bed!
