Or DennyBellsNappySmellsAnother'sOnTheWay... Luckily for you that's too long (And not true for that matter, before Denny kicks me.)

SalLikesEggnogUnderMistletoe · 09/12/2008 20:23

Now I've got that off my chest, back to manners. Hello everybody.

Poor Sam, glad you've got such a good paed. Good luck with all the physio, you know it'll do him the world of good. For what it's worth, even if there are bits that he hates now, he'll forget all about it. I broke both my legs (car accident, not psycho boyfriend...) when I was 12, and had to relearn how to look after months. Apparently I cried every time for months (had to see physio 3 times a week) as they had to stretch my tendons or whatever again) - now I'm walking fine (doctors said won't happen) and I quite like physios! I think it's always worse for the parents, so good luck with the difficult and tired bits.

Scorpio, cool pic. Quite a big team / club, isn't it?

Uhm, I'm really really sorry, but may I please ask for a repeat of your "usual" names for the new Christmas name people? I'm getting a bit confused Thanks! With this (lack of) brain of mine I'll be fired before my first pay cheque.

goodchristmasgirl · 10/12/2008 09:36

scorpio1 · 10/12/2008 10:34

Morning all

Bit of a near miss today- am still a bit

Stairgate on kitchen dorr is a bit just-fits but thats because of having sliding doors, and as the kitchen jas 2 entrances, living room and centrasnce corridor, e neeed something.

Anyway Bas was up holding it today as he always does, no issue there, quite sturdy enough: until ds1 and ds2 put all their body weight onto it and wouldnt stop when told to! Before I could get there (2 metres so v quickly) collapsed on Bas with him trapped under: ds1 jumped off, ds2 typically for him rolled around whinging about it and wouldn't shift (he's a grumpy sod, always, never smile when a complaint will do. Never thanks for this but always why didnt you get me something bigger iyswim). Anyway I had to lift him off and throw (gently) him clear to release screeching BAs-
cant normally lift ds2 at all so amazing what the adrenaline did!

Bas is seeming OK but being watched V closely

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 10/12/2008 11:04

vs- meant toask, Bas has thrush (i'm asymptomatic but I suppose I must), its mainly in genital area- gp booked up, any ideas?

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 10/12/2008 11:05

sorry meant gp too booked up ro see him

scorpio1 · 10/12/2008 11:06

GP will prescribe a cream for his bum, etc.

scorpio1 · 10/12/2008 11:07

is it red spotty? it will clear up in a few days with the cream, its canesten they will give.

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 10/12/2008 11:08

it's really sore, as he uis itchy he's clawing in the bath and at nappy changes sothere's a small tear this morning

not his day is it?

LilMatchGirlInVictorianSqualor · 10/12/2008 11:10

Can you see the nurse?
I'd call NHS direct or just pop in and ask the pharmacist for some cream, I expect they sell it over the counter, canesten or the like.

scorpio1 · 10/12/2008 11:10

Thrush does develop really quickly. GP should give you a combined canesten and hydrocortisone cream (reduce swelling etc) and you just pop it on at nappy time. also let air get to bits as thrush will thrive in warm damp nappy. Poor bas.

scorpio1 · 10/12/2008 11:12

Prescription will be free, i think i once paid £8 for that cream. Caneseten do make a special baby one, has pic of a baby and mum on the box.

TheShipsCat · 10/12/2008 12:24

Sorry, haven't read the thread for a little bit. Just wanted to come and cry on here. Our cat Floyd died last night. He fell in the river somehow, swam to one of the boats and managed to climb into its exhaust pipe. Our neighbour heard him in the evening. I'd been in bed with flu all day, but dragged out a rowing boat and got him. I plonked him on the side while I tied up the boat, turned round, and he'd gone. I assumed he'd gone home, so I went in, but he wasn't there. I went out again with a torch, and found in floating in the river. I climbed on to a boat, and got my leg in the river and hauled him out, but it was too late, either the cold or the water had got him. I still don't know why he fell in again after the first rescue, I guess he was cold and disorientated.

DH and I had worked out a few nights before that he had already used up at least 7 of his nine lives, so we sort of saw it coming. But I just can't get the image of this little cold wet cat out of my mind...

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 10/12/2008 12:28

Poor cat , I still miss our Tripod (heck I miss the cat that died a decade ago) so expect it to hurt for a bit, poor mite.

LilMatchGirlInVictorianSqualor · 10/12/2008 12:33

Oh TSC. You poor love. I am so sorry.

TheShipsCat · 10/12/2008 13:04

I keep welling up. A and the cat had a real thing going, so I'm sad for her and she keeps looking round for it. DD1 was much more philosophical and just said 'don't be sad, mummy, we can just get another one.'
At least it has refocused my mind on how dangerous the river is...and a good way of proving that to dd1.

LilMatchGirlInVictorianSqualor · 10/12/2008 13:07

Alex is like that with the kittens. He throws food off his highchair at them so I can totally understand.

scorpio1 · 10/12/2008 13:13

Poor you TSC. Animals are a part of the family.

We miss our kittens and regret not keeping one.

TheShipsCat · 10/12/2008 13:18

We sort of felt 'complete' as a family with A and the cat. Actually, Scorpio, it was something that you said once which made me realise about 'feeling complete'.

Shame you don't have any kittens we could have!

scorpio1 · 10/12/2008 13:21

Maybe we night soon...think my darling cat is pregnant again but not too sure yet.

Would you like another cat? It wouldn't be replacing her, just adding to your family. My lovely Persian died and then we got Joey. Completley different cats, so no replacing iyswim. (Can't remember what i said but glad it was of use, lol)

ThePFJ · 10/12/2008 16:13

TSC ... I am soo sorry about your darling cat

There is nothing I can say to cheer you up.. but do think about getting a new little kitty for you to love sooner rather than later. Just think of all the other cats in the world who dont have a home. The distraction would do you the world of good and its not a replacement, its just a new family member.

I had to have My cat Tibbs put down after 16 years with me from a kitten and I was broken-hearted for 12 months. Then my partner told me we were going to get some rescue cats and now my two little kitties have filled up that empty spot in my heart again. (You know.. the fluffy bit with the cat basket in it)

Anyway, big hugs from me TSC. I am so sorry.

PFJ update:

Little Jack is seriously teething at the moment, little red cheeks, crying all the time, restless... poor little mite. Have ordered some 'Teetha' sachets as reccomended by a friend. Apparently they are really good and it gives baby a break from the ibuprofen.

Things with my DP are back to being happy again. And the other day I worked out that if it takes me 10 months to concieve again, if me and DP tried now Jack would be 2.5 years old... which is how old we'd said we'd like him to be when I had another baby.... soooooo... I explained this to DP.... and he immediately said yes to TTC again.

I have now come off the pill. Wish us luck....

Missed you all.. but judging from your posts you've all been having loads of fun here

scorpio1 · 10/12/2008 19:17
