Ok- why is the plural of donkey 'donkeys' not donkies?????

mustrunmore · 20/01/2009 16:30

dunno, and dunno wht I wrote it like that either.

So, 3 donkeys... £900+VAT 2 years ago, 2 horses were £180, so how does that equate?!

We do have a fire engine every year. Alwayts aslo have bottle tombola, toy tombola, cake and sweet stall, raffle, international food, dj, ice cream van, a craft activity, pick-a-lollipop. usally have 2hand uniform and toys, but peoplr dont want tha this year

VampiresWalkin · 20/01/2009 16:38

Hmmm... right, CSWS - I would say that she is probably pissed off that he is getting to stay up without her and she is "missing" something, and on the nights DH does it she just wants you (to be arsey ). Not that that helps in the slightest, because babies tend to sleep when they are ready, and not "before DD" How did last night go in the end?

Ignoring MRM as we don't pay attention

DS has croup He was so short of breath last night his nails turned blue and he went all grey. Got him sorted with ye olde steam, and his thumb sucking helped regulate his breathing I think. Today he is still barking and temp Not looking forward to tonight. My back is really hurting from carrying him so much, and I only have one codeine left Can I take a co-dydramol with it do you know?? Although if I do that, I won't be up to driving if he needs it. Plus I have to drive across town later tonight to get a parcel because I need it for first thing tomorrow morning

Jas - Am taking movicol too to stop any constipation issues.

VampiresWalkin · 20/01/2009 16:38

oh and no idea about fayres - we had a harley davidson display last year - f*ck knows why

mustrunmore · 20/01/2009 20:42

Ignoring you too.. but oooo, harleys..

Just done a great class; I loved it. Funny how some are just fasntastic for absolutely no explicable reason!

And just dne my entry for the Hyde park 5km in September; my first ever charity run so its very nostaglic for me and its also the one I did on crutches after the biopsy lasyt year if you emember. I'd so love to be fit anf do a fantastic time this year, altho its always so bottlenecked cos at the end of the day if you're not elite, its just a day out in the park fun run

mustrunmore · 20/01/2009 20:44

Whats in the parcel thats so urgent? Get Boy to run across and get it Poor ds; ds1's friend had croup recently, and it was really bad, poor little thing.

VampiresWalkin · 20/01/2009 21:02

psycho b'day pres - for tomorrow!

lol @ "if you remember" - we remember! yay for good class

EachPeachPearMum · 20/01/2009 21:43

mrm- sorry- hadn't realised you put donkies too! I was talking about me typing it!
I was thinking about monkies as well... it is odd, no?

Flame- sorry for DS's croup. Hopefully it will go quickly. And happy birthday wishes to Psycho for tomorrow, please!

No contractions today am very tired, and have done a lot of walking. My car has been removed, and replaced by courtesy car... but I don't think I can be bothered to drive it anywhere

VampiresWalkin · 20/01/2009 21:45

so how much are ponies/horses? Fwiw - pony ride is the thing I remember most about my school fetes, and I hate that we don't have them now

for lack of labour

VampiresWalkin · 20/01/2009 21:48

that wasn't me ignoring donkey costs, it was wanting a comparison

We need to start thinking of titles btw

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/01/2009 21:56

Just a quick update, as didn't get to sit down til 9:15 and hoping to go to bed at 10!

She got up once in the night and came in to me, and told her that it was the middle of the night and to go back to bed or the gate would go back on, and she went straight up.

Tonight I explained the routine that we were going to follow, and each time she started messing around (splashing too much in the bath, shouting in ds' face etc) I reminded her that it would mean no boo-boo before bed, and she would apologise and be better for a few seconds until she forgot again . Anyway, we left ds to whine and went up for boo-boo and bed for dd. I reminded her of what dh had explained yesterday about us using the gate until she had proved to us that she could be trusted to stay in bed, but when I said that the gate would go on she tried to dash off the bed past me to get downstairs first. I beat her and put the gate on, and explained through her screaming what was happening, and then went back to put ds to bed.
Cue half an hour of screaming and tantrums from dd (mummy, help, I don't want this, I want daddy, scuse me etc), until I'd got ds settled (I popped back to her once during this), and then I went up and had a talk with her, and opened the gate with her understanding the consequences if she came down. We had cuddles and she stayed in bed .

And ds is asleep in the Amby tonight. He had a good nap in there this afternoon (am following some advice from Aitch) so thought I'd give it a go.

Jas · 20/01/2009 22:13

Sounds good csws. I hope you get a decent sleep.

You too EPPM.

EachPeachPearMum · 20/01/2009 22:41

CSWS- sounds like it's starting to work a little- hope things improve.

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/01/2009 09:27

Happy Due Date EPPM!

EachPeachPearMum · 21/01/2009 09:35

Thanks! absolutely nada happening though [grr]

Walked to nursery and back again (v e r y s l o w l y due to ice) but nothing. He is wriggling loads, but nothing happening waters or contractions-wise.
Am now officially fed-up!

EachPeachPearMum · 21/01/2009 09:35

Did you have a better night btw?

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/01/2009 09:58

Copied from t'other PN...

Well ds spent the night in the Amby. He woke for feeds at 11, 2:20 and 6 (although this turned out to be the start of the day, and not just a night feed), but fed for 45 mins each time, so managed a max of 3 hours at a stretch. I also woke at 1am as I thought I heard dd, and 5am when dd came in for a cuddle, so am a bit knackered today. I just can't do daytime naps myself though, and on the rare occasions that I do it just results in me not being tired enough to sleep at bedtime.

Well just be thankful that he took notice about not coming too early when it looked like he might. Still another 9 days to go to level with me!

EachPeachPearMum · 21/01/2009 10:12

9 days? I will 'arrange' to have him removed before then I think! (sounds ominous, I know, but you know what I mean) I cannot have him on DD's birthday- it would be totally unfair on them both.

Can't believe DS is still feeding for 45 mins at a time!

Does DD sleep when she comes in for a cuddle? Or even lie still? Just wondering as our dd cannot keep still for the life of her! We don't let her come in until 7am has passed

She actually got up at 7 today, which is unheard of too! She is having loads of nightmares though.

The night before, DH went in to her howling, and she said:
"Papa- there's a cow on either side of me, and the bear is picking me up!"

In the morning she told me she'd dreamt she was in the library and there were cows in the way, and a bear who kept picking her up... and he wasn't a friendly bear

SO weird. Looks like she's completely taking after me though.... surreal dreams are just the start.

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/01/2009 10:24

When is dd's b'day? I arranged to have ds out at 40+5, but as you know, he had other ideas!

He doesn't feed for 45 mins during the day, just when it's needed to get him back to sleep . Prob just likes the sucking, but won't take a dummy.

DD doesn't sleep when she comes in, no. She can occasionally manage still for about 2 mins!

for nightmares. Dd is apparently now scared of the dark (even though she has a nightlight). Hoping that her shutter will come soon so that she doesn't have a bare window to see out into the darkness from.

VampiresWalkin · 21/01/2009 10:39

Slipping on ice might have helped

for the 45 min feeds at night

DS is fine again Barked a few times last night, woke pale and croaky, but absolutely fine in himself. Love how fast he bounces back!

EachPeachPearMum · 21/01/2009 10:52

Yeah- the sucking thing- DD did that- would never have a dummy, but just wanted to suckle....
DD's bday is 4th feb- would be 42 weeks that day.

Flame- glad DS is better- they change so quickly don't they?

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/01/2009 10:54

Hurray for quick healing ds.

I predict a Jan baby .

Flame - you're all hippy in this respect - did you have an amber teething necklace for either of yours?

VampiresWalkin · 21/01/2009 11:19

Nope. They are meant to be good, but neither of mine co-operated with teething on anything. this site sells some

EachPeachPearMum · 21/01/2009 11:19

glad you're so sure CSWS!
I looked at teething necklaces.... couldn't work out how they could work, so never got one.
(but I am hardly the one to be talking to about the healing power of stones, so I will shut up [old cynical skeptic emoticon])

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/01/2009 11:24

Do you know the person who owns that site? If so you need to tell them to put teething necklaces in a section of their own, or make the site searchable.
