ds2 prob getting nothing at this rate, cant think of a single thing he needs

got to stsrt booking stuf for the summner fdayre this week. Omg daunting!

Have got a lovely aerobics ache, but did a shit run after class again. Dont know why I cant get mentally prepared at all. And didi nt help that I had to wee in a bush half way round.

Can someone think of a job thats kind of fitness related but I could do as an unfit lardy person? Am coming to terms with having shit body ofever, but still wanna exercise. All we've come up with is dog walker

Phoenix · 18/01/2009 20:46

Childminder? Plenty of excercise there

MRM go work in a gym! seriously, there's all shapes and sizes work in ours you don't have to be a size 0 to be fit and healthy

Buzz as in lightyear? and Bullseye as in same film yeah? (not as in Marvel character, geek warning! ) Toystory 3 out this year have to say Monsters V Aliens looks great too

VampiresWalkin · 18/01/2009 20:58

Lol yes, as in toy story, methinks he is a bit young for freakishly well aiming assassins! Found him here

Yay to TS3 - think it will be his first cinema trip (he wanted HSM3 but we never got round to it )

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/01/2009 21:02

Couldn't you just get a job in a gym?

Only 4 hours last night EPPM, and he's been snuffling so much since putting him down tonight that I've had to go back up to him once already (though not fed, and was happy to go back down).

DD got the vtech camera for Christmas, and loves it. She also got a scooter, so I would highly recommend this for ds Phoenix. She didn't really get much chance to use her bike last summer, due to the shit weather and the building works. Hopefully she'll use it more this year now that we have a patio for her to practice on.

If she gets what she deserves for her birthday then we won't have to buy her anything . She is reeeaaaaalllllllyyy hard work at the moment. Bedtimes are a nightmare. We try threatening to take away stuff. We try offering stuff (carrot and stick), we try shouting, we try staying calm, but nothing works . Am dreading dh going away again this week, as think I might totally lose it with her without him to help.

But I expect we'll get her a little CD player so that she can listen to Charlie and lola and other story CDs in her room. Anyone seen a good one that she'll be able to operate herself?

Shit, she's just come downstairs again. Am so sick of this. Need an early night and at this rate I'll be going up before she does.

Oh crap CSWS sorry about dd, can you threaten her with stair gate on her door again? is there a really fav toy you can take away for (this is the order we do it, a day, two days, a week, a month, the bin!) it works with dd1 ok, haven't had to use it much with dd2 yet (but its only time...)

for Camera being good, will defo get that then. Meridians ds had that scooter and it is fab recommend it too.

Jas · 18/01/2009 21:14

Buzz here, and trip to see TS3 would go down very well

Csws could you be trying too many things? I keep the gate shut, and respond the same to every call which doesn't include the words blood or poo - tomorrow. It is bed time now. And then ignore

Room is a mess, ds fell asleep in a pile of books this evening, but I stay calm! I couldn't cope without the gate though. (He can open it, but for some reason rarely does.)

Could she work an ordinary cd player? Ds can do dvds and video so I'd have thought so.

Phoenix - my neighbours ds (same age as ours) has a balance bike, and has used it loads. He will be riding a proper bike in no time without stabilisers I think.

VampiresWalkin · 18/01/2009 21:14

Oh CSWS The gate was the only thing to work with us tbh, and just letting them yell.

With the cd player - B could work just a normal cheap one fine from this sort of age. The Dude broke it obv, but that is because he is a big stinky boy

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/01/2009 21:15

Dh just checking whether stair gate fits, but think it's too big for new staircase (and suspect she'll climb over it and fall down stairs).

She's already lost her scooter and camera and maybe TV for 3 days, and supposedly lost all boo-boo for tomorrow too. Those are all her favourite things, but she still won't go up.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/01/2009 21:17

Gate doesn't fit, so we have no way to confine her .

VampiresWalkin · 18/01/2009 21:17

Taking things do sod all for Flameboy. He just doesn't get it iyswim. is there a door on her room? No way you can just keep that shut?

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/01/2009 21:20

There's a door on her room (a pocket sliding one), but no way to keep it shut.
I do worry about what would happen in the event of a fire if she is locked in her room, but I suppose we would just have to release whatever mechanism before we go to bed ourselves.

VampiresWalkin · 18/01/2009 21:22

Arse.

Yup, we just untie it after about an hour of all quiet up there.

Erm... I am done with all suggestions now

Phoenix · 18/01/2009 21:24

Oh csws, i have nothing to suggest sorry. We say to ds 'stop doing x or that toy/dummy/etc. will go in the bin' he just throws whatever it is and says 'throw it in bin.'

Jas · 18/01/2009 21:25

Make dh sit outside her door and keep putting her back to bed, and tomorrow sort out a new gate/lock for the door. You would undo it when you check that she is asleep anyway, before you go to bed.

Frizbe · 18/01/2009 21:25

I think you need dh for this one, get her in her room in the bed, everytime she gets out, he has to put her back in without saying a word bar bed/bedtime (ignorance really winds them up, then upsets them, then they eventually get the messasge, just say bed, and put them back in), turn all the lights out in the immediate vicinity too (bar a small night light if she has one) dh will have to stay outside her door way possibly for a bit, but everytime those feet touch the floor, she has to go straight back in {{{{Hugs}}} feel for you (we had to do this once with dd1 when she was little, but it stopped her)

Frizbe · 18/01/2009 21:26

X Posts Jas, same thinking!

Jas · 18/01/2009 21:26

I don't even bother threatening to take stuff away. Would have no effect at all on ds.

Frizbe · 18/01/2009 21:33

right, night girls, good luck with dd CSWS, I'm off to finally read the paper and attempt a bit of Owl related crafting for a swap I've gotten involved in

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/01/2009 22:01

Sorry, had to disappear as heard her on monitor meaning she was in our room where ds was asleep . Got her out of the bed and carried her up to her room, shut her door and held it shut whilst dh came up to check that she hadn't done anything to ds. Unfortunately one of them woke ds up, and I've just had to give him a feed to resettle him.
Dh is in the spare bed in dd's room. Was going to order one of these, but it wouldn't arrive before dh goes away, so am going to have to spend the whole time that dd is at school tomorrow afternoon driving to big mothercare to try and get one. Let's hope that ds is in an ok mood for that, as he has his 2nd jabs in the morning.
Am going to bed in a minute. Thanks ladies.

EachPeachPearMum · 18/01/2009 22:11

CSWS the problem is she is just parsing the changes in her life atm. It is so hard for her to deal with DS's arrival, and her new position in the family. She is so used to having all the attention, and it is very hard to share. (Says the woman who was completely overwhelmingly jealous of her brother who arrived 23 mo later, tbh has never really got over it )
Bedtimes are a nightmare for us atm too- have become a very whiny, clingy time, whereas previously, she has always been a star at bedtime- silent within 2 minutes usually. At the moment its 15 minutes of wailing and gnashing of teeth, stay mama, stay mama. She is overwrought I think- as we keep expecting him, but she doesn't know when he's going to turn up, so she is excited, and anxious, and disappointed all the time- it is such a rollercoaster for them, isn't it? (well- us too- but at least we understand why things are up in the air)

Birthday presents- DD is having some more animals for her farm (goats and a duckpond) and she is having a vintage Fisher Price record player music box- we had one as children, and it was just great- I hope it's going to go down well. We're not going over the top, as she had loads for christmas that she is really enjoying, and she will be having a baby doll from DS when he gets here. Oh- and everything is wrapped and away in the closet ready- I have to be prepared this birthday! (haven't had any more requests about her party, thank goodness)

EachPeachPearMum · 18/01/2009 22:14

And I agree with Flame and Jas- taking stuff away does nothing- she doesn't care- is very stubborn, always has been.
Thank goodness she doesn't actually get out of bed once she's in it though- I would be tearing my hair out. (its the same- staying calm, shouting, etc has no effect either way- she just wants me to stay)

Jas · 18/01/2009 22:58

csws - I hope it helps.

I can ignore at bedtime but will admit that once I am asleep if he wakes up I tend to get into bed with him.....it is a double, and I know if I leave him and he doesn't drop off, he will get up on the top bunk and jump on dd2!. At 3am I will do anything for a bit more sleep.

Nothing happening yet then EPPM?
I am quite glad I have the gaps I've got....we avoided jelousy/ huge upsets both times, so it really isn't something I am good at.

Returnofthemac · 19/01/2009 08:03

Hi guys

Sorry to hear about your woes csws, but it will get better, you know that.

MRM I may be totally speaking out of turn but if you want to work in the fitness industry I think you need to change your attitude towards yourself. It is a very unhealthy attitude to have, particularly if you want to help people with image issues themselves. Fitness is very different to being a skinny minny as everyone keeps telling you. That needs to be relayed to others. If your run was crap after aerobics then perhaps it's trying to tell you something. Are you eating properly in relation to your exercise regime? If you exercise as much as you say, your body will be craving more fuel - it needs feeding, feed it properly! You cannot actively lose weight whilst increasing your fitness levels because of the intake in calories you need to fuel the amount of exercise. You need to work out what's more important and adjust the exercise as appropriate.
As you know, sometimes your body and your head are in completely different zones and it's very rare they both come together at the same time (otherwise an athlete would continuously be breaking records day after day, week after week).

Sorry!

Hello everyone else
