Update: Dad's friend is a consultant at Queen Marys and has magic-ed up a bed for lil sis there tonight. Mum now faced with challenge of extracting sis and up to date notes from hillingdon (notes will be the challenge given how rubbish they are at everything else). hopefully we will now get somewhere... no horror stories about queen marys please!!!!!

so need this baby to come - am constantly on tenterhooks worrying about it all! it's worse than when i had mine!!

And to top off my day LO fell over from standing earlier backwards onto ceramic tiled floor. has been sick twice since. am trying not to panic and rush to a&e as i don't think she is concussed but hard not to worry...

turtledove23 · 02/12/2008 19:38

CM- hope it all goes well. I'm sure C will be fine too. x
Sexonfire-Have emailed you and expect a response soon!! (at least before next week)

Ewe · 02/12/2008 23:16

Arrghhh, I have about 2.5 hours to kill in London tomorrow afternoon and can't think of anything remotely interesting to do. Any ideas?

Ideally want something/somewhere that I can get DD out of buggy.

merryberry · 03/12/2008 05:55

baby in london ideas

and british museum
the art galleries on traflagar square

CricketsMum · 03/12/2008 21:54

she's here!! arrived at lunchtime by emergency section. 8lb 1oz, no name yet. spent the afternoon with her and my very tired sister (they broke her waters at 1am...) very very gorgeous and so small!!

HolidaysQueen · 03/12/2008 22:00

that's fabulous news CM big congratulations to your sister!

CricketsMum · 04/12/2008 08:40

thanks hq!!

LO slept through the night last night!!!! First time in months and months. Hurrah!!!!

HolidaysQueen · 04/12/2008 10:14

CM - your DD has clearly decided to show her new cousin how it should be done

Had a scare at 9.30 last night. DS woke up sounding horrid - as if he was trying to catch his breath and then a really hacking cough. I was a little worried that it was croup but after a while I realised it is just that he is so phlegmy and snotty, that it had all just pooled in his throat Anyway it took about 30 mins to calm him down as he really scared himself but then he slept right through until 7.30am. Fortunately I could hear him cough every so often so I knew he was alive I'll be so glad when he is better!

Progress today: he waved his daddy off to work properly He has occasionally put his hand out when DH waves to him, but this morning he waved it up and down, and repeated it again after we shrieked in delight

ilovegreenbeans · 04/12/2008 10:26

HQ- we're getting occasional waving here too, not totally consistent yet, but she's getting it!
Whoever invented the Karvol thingy you plug into the wall- I love you! DD's room stinks like menthol, but she's slept so much better the past 2 nights, it's unbelievable! Also, I've stuck a towel under the head of her mattress so she's on a bit of an angle and that seems to be helping too. Phew!
Congrats on your niece CM!

littleducks · 04/12/2008 12:00

CM congrats on your new neice, make sure your sister is well cared for in the next few weeks as she must be beyond exhausted physically and mentally and now has a newborn to contend with

HQ is horrible when they are ill isnt it, and a big wave to your ds

DS has the bloody chicken pox just when i thought we had escaped, just a week after dd recovering fully and being able to leave the house we will be in for another week inside and he had akready been poorly with a cold, sore gums etc.

I think i have a sinus infection but no chance in hell of going to dr now

noolia · 04/12/2008 15:29

Yay just because we can.

Glad all is well with your sister CM!
Sorry to hear about all the other various lurgies - poor babies.

I seem only to be a lurker here now, we've become busy in rl now with playgroups and swimming etc. It's good to be doing stuff!
DD is doing a good line in 'free standing' but still no teeth!

Hope the bugs clear up soon!

CricketsMum · 04/12/2008 20:04

hi

thanks for the congrats all... LD, I completely agree about her needing to be looked after. as soon as she goes home i am moving in for a week to help her and then my mum is going to take over... need to get her back on her feet a bit before christmas as mum and i are away... hopefully her dp will be feeling a bit more confident with it all by then though.

nightmare about the chicken pox - poor poor you. and hugs to everyone else with poorly LOs/who are poorly themselves... hang in there.

went to look at a nursery today (ewe, not the one you mentioned, going to see that in a few weeks)... feeling very about the prospect of leaving her with someone else... half hoping that my flexible working request is denied ... even!!!

HolidaysQueen · 05/12/2008 09:21

DS woke briefly at 4am, then fell back to sleep but I couldn't so have now been awake for 5 hours (apart from about 45 mins at 6.30)

LD - poor poor you. Do you have to stay inside to stop infecting other people, or because your DS needs to stay inside until he's better, or just because it's logistically a nightmare to get out with a sick baby? I have been finding it's the latter with my DS, and I don't have a toddler in tow!

Hello noolia

merryberry · 05/12/2008 10:15

congrats on cm baby and commis on turtle tiredness and worries.
sorry so brief, stuff on +++
computer knackered under virus
got to get off dh's machine here!
norty me

turtledove23 · 05/12/2008 13:06

HQ_ we saw Purly at the meet the other day. She's lurking still.
I'm ok, I guess. Just having a rotten time and didn't want to moan on here.

littleducks · 05/12/2008 16:21

come and moan all you want turtle

(makes me feel like am not the only one)

something wrong with dd too, she has temp and two 'wee accidents' so far today which makes dealing with ds and his cp much harder to deal with

we arent allowed out due to infection risk, but with dd after that stage was over she was too tired for much going out

but my poor friend missed the whole of august as one after the other her three kids caught it!

Ewe · 05/12/2008 19:13

turtle - moan away! We all do from time to time, we don't mind!

I am glad it is the weekend, have been out with work 3 times this week! I hate the festive season sometimes.

Am Christmas shopping tomorrow, have done DD, what are you all getting your babies for xmas?

fitnfortyone · 06/12/2008 21:28

What's the latest Turtle? You were cryptic again on fb!

I can't believe the change in my not so LO since the formula switch last weekend. He has slept through the night since then and even gave me a lie in until 7.53 this morning - apologies to those still struggling, but just to let you know there is light at the end of the tunnel which doesn't have to be the oncoming train... (unless I'm being naive and about to be hit on alevel crossing ).

turtledove23 · 07/12/2008 06:30

The latest is that I am on an emotional roller coaster. DH came back from a week away and I was so pleased that someone else could share the burden. DS slept through (just about) that night, which was lucky as it was babymaking time and all looked rosy in the morning. Only problem is that DS has started biting again (BADLY) and it's now including my shoulder and face. I want to give up BF because we're both ready, not because I'm afraid of him. Am at a loss as to what to do as he wont take a bottle/cup /beaker with milk in it. DH's helpful suggestion is to put choc powder in it. Hmm.

merryberry · 07/12/2008 18:01

hungover

feeble wave<
ouch
hope everyone ok this w/e

fitnfortyone · 07/12/2008 18:13

turtle saw your other thread, hope you get some good advice.

Merry - are you developing a [gasp] social life?

Lo's cheeks are decidedly rosy since 4pm ish and has a lovely red bum. Last time he had that a couple of weeks ago we thought the top teeth were coming through, but not a peep. Fingers crossed something pops through this time as he's been a bit grizzly all weekend.
Have to adjust his high chair footrest as he's suddenly dangling over the edge of it, happened while i wasn't looking!

Got a month of hell ahead in work, whoever decided to have financial year end to match the calendar year end was having a laugh. Got to miss our official office party as we'll be working late, but luckily boss is treating us to lunch Weds and we're out guzzling again on Thurs so that's my social activities for the whole of December sorted.
Bought all my presents ages ago but still haven't had a chance to wrap them let alone think about writing cards, sigh.
